Online dating and meeting girls: personal experience sharing (7)

Hello again today, it's me, Lao Xu from next door!
This article will first discuss how to take profile photos, as a supplement. Those interested can choose to read it at their own discretion. If you feel your photography skills are already quite good, you can skip this; this article is only for beginners.
We know that photos are important in your social circle. We know that posting photos of social activities, sports, travel, and hobbies can showcase your personal charm and attract girls. However, the quality of the photos themselves is also crucial. Some people take great photos, while others take very low-quality ones. Different shooting methods for the same set of photos will result in different final effects. The difference in shooting directly affects the quality of your social circle, so this time I'll teach you how to take high-quality profile photos. I'm a professional photographer, so I'll first briefly teach you how to improve photo quality.
First, let's talk about shooting equipment. The most common are mobile phones or DSLRs. DSLRs have clearer image quality and better photography effects than mobile phones. However, you probably don't have one right now, but if you're going on a trip, I suggest you bring a DSLR if you can (if you don't have one, rent or borrow one). The results will be absolutely amazing. Compared to DSLRs, smartphones are much more portable, allowing you to take photos anytime, anywhere. Most smartphones on the market today have decent camera resolution, producing image quality sufficient for your social media posts. Combined with various photography apps, you can create truly high-quality photos.
Here are two popular smartphone photography apps I recommend. First, let me clarify: if you think smartphone apps are bad, it's because you don't know how to use them. I've used Lightroom and Photoshop for at least four years, and smartphone apps are more than enough for you—trust me!
1. First up is BeautyCam. I recommend it because it's easy to learn, preserves image details while making your selfies more flattering, and is very simple to use. Its one-click beauty function automatically reduces noise, smooths skin, and slims the face. Regardless of your skin's condition, this app will make your skin look healthier and more defined, enhancing your facial contours. However, remember not to overdo the beauty filters (too much enhancement looks fake and will look terrible in real life—I won't elaborate). At the very least, you should be recognizable as the person in the photo. In short, beauty camera apps are suitable for taking portrait photos (practice a lot, and you can even take photos of girls later). How exactly do you use them? Open the app, tap to enter the selfie mode. The camera defaults to the front-facing camera. Use the volume buttons for the selfie function, not the shutter button on your phone. Because when you're posing and ready to take a picture, it's a waste of energy and expression if you can't quite press that small shutter button. With the volume buttons, snap a picture, and you're done! After taking the picture, the app will automatically beautify it, making your skin look better, but you can adjust the beautification level yourself. Tap the three circle buttons on the right and select "Natural Beauty." Use the adjustment buttons at the top; the higher the beautification value, the more beautified it is. Guys can choose the middle range for a more natural effect. As for effects, experiment and see what suits you best.
2. Another one that many girls use now is the "Light Beauty Camera." Its advantage is that it can take photos with built-in high-end filters, giving them a cinematic feel. These special effects will instantly transform you into a magazine cover star, and the background blur and foot-focusing functions make it easier to highlight the main subject, instantly elevating the photo's sophistication. This trendy selfie app has multiple shooting modes; after pressing the shutter, you can choose your favorite effects from the filters.
Okay, there are a bunch of even better apps, some are paid, some are only available for iPhones, so I won't go into detail. Just figure out these two first. As always, if you want more, contact me privately, thank you! So how exactly do you take photos that have a high-end feel?
First, let's talk about how to take portrait photos. First, for selfies, before taking the photo, choose a suitable scene with good lighting, and pair it with some fashionable clothing and accessories, as well as a suitable hairstyle. This is preparation. Generally, there's one angle that looks best on everyone, and the best time to take a selfie is between 3 pm and 5 pm. That's when people are at their best; definitely don't take it right after sleeping. When taking the photo, you'll likely look puffy and heavier than usual. Find the side of your face that looks best; a 45-degree side angle will make your face appear smaller. Looking down will give you a slightly melancholic look. A closer look allows your eyelashes to be visible. Remember to show your neck, not just your head. If you have small eyes, forcefully open your eyebrows, pinch the bridge of your nose with your index finger and thumb, and then press until a deep crease appears on your eyelid. Make sure the crease doesn't disappear immediately. Then choose a striking angle and press the shutter button for a three-dimensional effect. (Old Xu's advice is simple, isn't it?) Using props is also crucial. For example, food in the frame can make your selfie look more down-to-earth. Exercise can also be used as a prop to express your lifestyle. A sports drink can let girls know you're active, while a suitable book and a pair of scholarly glasses can give a more intellectual feel. So, when choosing props, pay attention to your own style. Cute animals can also be used as props. The advantage is that the photo contains your story and footprints, and he can even pose to cooperate with you. Since no one's taking photos for you right now, focus on taking good selfies first.
However, more importantly, photos taken by others are more likely to attract girls' attention than selfies, so using other people's perspectives is an indispensable method for improving your social media posts. This avoids your social media being filled with selfies, making what you want to express seem more natural. Here's a note: avoid posting too many selfies in your social circle (unless you're incredibly handsome), just a profile picture or one or two occasionally. Why? First, selfies don't always capture the whole picture; second, too many selfies can easily give girls the impression of narcissism; third, frankly, it can look a bit tacky and effeminate. So, when taking photos for your social media profile, ask a friend to help. For example, if you want to project a sophisticated, bourgeois image, you can read in an artsy café, pose, and have your friend take the photo from another person's perspective—this will enhance the overall effect. Okay, you say your friend is busy? No problem. You can also use the time-lapse function in selfie apps. The beauty camera app I just introduced has this function. Set your phone aside, set the time, pose, and wait for the shutter to click. Try a few times, and you'll eventually get a satisfactory photo. Remember, when taking photos from someone else's perspective, don't look directly at the camera; it will appear forced. Try to be as upright as possible, and avoid being disheveled. A man who exudes a dignified yet alluring charm is the most irresistible.
After portrait photography, let's talk about still life (food is also a type of still life). Many people post pictures of food on social media these days, but there's a difference: even if it's the same crab, theirs looks incredibly appetizing, while yours looks completely unappetizing. So, I'll talk about how to photograph food. You're not a professional photographer, so you can't go to great lengths to set up elaborate lighting for your subjects. However, with a little effort, you can bring out the texture and quality of your still life subjects. Pay attention to the following: First, light is king. Use natural light during the day, and at night, use artificial light in well-lit, but not directly lit, locations. If you want to highlight a particular dish, place it in the brightest spot; the direction of the light is also important. Sufficient natural light is key to taking beautiful photos, but that doesn't mean you can shoot anything with natural light. In many places, artificial light is used to make still life look better. When shooting restaurant food, remember to avoid direct light on the food. Otherwise, the image will be too bright and lack depth, making the food look less appetizing. Try shooting with light coming from the left or right, or backlighting from the opposite side of the shooting position. These two types of lighting create fantastic visual effects. Angle is also a crucial factor in photography. Try shooting from above, including all the food on the table. The tableware, floral arrangements, tablecloths, and even a friend reaching for the food can enrich the image and create a more evocative atmosphere. Even the best chef can't create food that's perfect from every angle. Find the best angle before shooting. If you can't find a suitable angle immediately, you can abandon the overall composition and focus on the details. This will result in more creative and vivid photos.
The focal point determines the visual focus of a photo. Many people who don't understand focus often take out-of-focus photos, where the subject is blurry (don't worry if you don't understand, just pick up your phone and try it out; you'll get it quickly). This is often caused by not knowing how to focus or shaky hands. While modern phone cameras can autofocus, it only caters to most shooting needs. If autofocus fails to focus, simply tap the focus point on the screen with your finger to make the subject stand out.
Still life photography emphasizes composition and highlighting the subject. This is where it becomes crucial. Here are some simple composition methods for still life photography: First, symmetrical composition, placing the object in the center to emphasize the subject; second, the golden ratio, which simply means placing the subject in the one-third mark of the frame. Such images look pleasing.
Finally, let's briefly discuss landscape photography and how to take better photos. Utilize different angles to create unique photos. Try crouching down to shoot; don't just hold your phone or DSLR. Normal angles are the most common shooting angles. Lie down or bend over (just try it out). For a cool photo to post on social media, this little thing is nothing, and then your photos will look like this. If you can only travel during holidays, how do you take high-quality photos in crowded tourist attractions? The key is angle. Take the Forbidden City, for example. On open days, it's always packed with people; that's what the Forbidden City looks like on a normal day. You need to find the right angle, avoiding the crowds. Look around – you'll find a satisfying angle. In short, taking high-quality photos for your social media isn't difficult. Practice using the methods we've taught you, and your photography skills will improve significantly.
Having explained how to take good photos for social media, that's not enough. If you post unedited photos, they won't stand out and will easily get lost in other people's feeds.
So, you not only need to learn how to take high-quality photos, but also how to properly edit and enhance them. This will make your social media photos look more sophisticated and high-quality. Of course, the accompanying text is also important. This will make your social media posts more engaging. This time, I recommend a photo editing app – Meitu Xiu Xiu. This software has been around for many years, and its various functions have gradually improved. Meitu Xiu Xiu is widely recognized as a powerful photo editing tool. It's easy to learn, and the materials are all free.
For those who dislike complicated processes, Meitu Xiu Xiu is the most convenient photo editing software. The software offers two main functions: the first is image enhancement, which is overall image enhancement; the second is portrait beautification (if you used a selfie app, don't apply a second beautification, it will look fake), which can be used to beautify portrait photos individually (you can edit previously taken photos). Let's talk about portrait beautification first. It has a user-friendly one-click beautification function that can automatically correct facial blemishes. It's recommended to choose medium or the first level of natural beautification. You can also adjust the beautification level using the adjustment buttons on the right (similar to beauty cameras, from the same company). Some men have noticeable acne, so they can choose the blemish and acne removal function to remove it. If you want to look thinner, you can choose the face and body slimming function for automatic face slimming. Adjust the intensity using the adjustment buttons below. If the one-click beautification doesn't solve your dark circles, you can use the dark circle removal function. There are also functions like eye enlargement; feel free to try them out. Finally, remember to click the save and share button in the upper right corner.
Next is image enhancement. First, open the Smart Optimization panel, which offers various automatic editing options, including food, vintage items, and landscapes. You can choose and optimize based on your photo—it's very simple and convenient. The final effect is also very high-quality. If your image is cluttered or the subject is small, you can use the editing function to crop the image to highlight the subject. If the image is dark, turn on the brightness enhancement function to adjust the brightness. After processing, the edges may become blurry. You can then use the sharpening function to sharpen the edges and details, adjusting the saturation—the vibrancy of the colors. The enhancement function has many other parameters; adjusting different settings will produce different image effects. Feel free to experiment! Finally, you'll need to use filters for final adjustments. Meitu XiuXiu's effects function offers a large selection of filters to choose from, providing various subtle effects to enhance your photos. Each filter style has a small circle below it; opening it reveals numerous labels describing the style. Clicking on the effect allows you to adjust the beautification and effect intensity using the conditional buttons. If your subject is centered in the frame, you can also click the small ellipsis on the left. The water droplet represents blurring the background, and the small square is the foot button, which darkens the background. You can use these two functions to highlight the subject. Another feature in the plum blossom image is mosaic. Many guys encounter this situation: they take a photo and are very satisfied with the lighting, their expression, pose, and outfit, but the background is the only drawback. Your photos are a bit messy, so you can use this feature to mosaic the background. Alternatively, if your photos involve personal privacy, you can use this feature to cover them up. I don't recommend choosing the pixel option; the large pixel mosaic in the mosaic tool looks cheap. Try the oil painting or other style mosaic magic pen functions instead. It's best to avoid using this feature altogether, as it can easily make girls think you're silly—it's for girls, not you.
Also, I want to emphasize that I don't recommend using stickers or the close-up feature on men's photos, as it will make them look effeminate. Photo editing is all about practice. Spending a little time on it will definitely elevate your social media presence significantly. I've told you the methods, so practice more. One important reminder: keep the style of your photos consistent. If you're punk today, fresh and clean tomorrow, and Western style the day after, your social media will look cluttered. So please keep the editing style consistent across your posts.
These high-quality pictures also need accompanying text. Many people's WeChat Moments consist of either only pictures or only text. The former makes your Moments feel empty, while only text can be unreadable. Therefore, when posting pictures, you must include text, and the language should be concise and clear. Some people post philosophical reflections on life on Moments, the kind that requires clicking to read the full text. Believe me, few girls want to see your Moments posting philosophical pronouncements with accompanying text. Don't directly describe what you're doing. Some guys like to post highly consistent pictures and text on Moments. For example, posting a picture of hot pot with the caption "Had hot pot today." When people see your picture, they already know you had hot pot, so what's the point of your text? You could say you had a great time with friends, or that the beef here was amazing. This kind of Moments post feels much more colorful and can spark conversation.
Some people want to showcase their financial status on Moments, which is a must. For example, when showing off your car, never post a picture of the car logo, steering wheel, or car key directly. Girls will only think you're pretentious and low-class when they see that on social media. There are other ways to achieve your goal. For instance, if you have a photo and want to express that you're driving a nice car, the caption shouldn't be something like "driving a luxury car for a spin." Instead, you should use other topics in your caption. You could take a picture of yourself driving and caption it something like "the weather is nice," or something witty. Some girls can even recognize a car by its interior. Even if you don't own a luxury car, it's still acceptable to post a picture of the interior with some text to naturally imply that you have one. Another example: if you want to show that you own a house, post a picture of your living room with the caption "Your living room is so high-class, I love this feeling." This is a proper, pretentious caption. Remember, the text shouldn't repeat the content of the picture. The text should expand upon the image; it should be an extension of your picture. Some girls post minor complaints and expressions of helplessness on social media to seek comfort. But it's strange how the same thing can happen to guys. If a guy posts about his boss one day and his neighborhood management the next, just pure negativity, he'll probably get blocked by girls within days. Therefore, your posts should be as positive and reflect a high-quality lifestyle to attract girls' attention. Remember, you're not a loser who complains all the time. Some people like to use emojis in their captions to express their emotions. However, be careful not to use too many emojis—one or two at most. Having emojis in every post makes
your feed look cluttered. If the text can express your feelings, don't add unnecessary emojis. In short, stick to the principle of conciseness and clarity. Finally, thank you for reading this far! Building a high-quality social circle takes time and effort; it requires learning new things and investing significant time, money, and energy. So, to make things easier for everyone, I have a template I bought myself. I think some of the photos in it are pretty good, and it can greatly reduce time and manpower costs. If you want it, add me privately; I'll give it to you for free. It's a little treat for you guys, that's how good I am to you guys, haha!
