A Few Things About Youth – A Restless Heart Amidst the Monotony of School Life

That summer, filled with anticipation and longing for university life, I boarded the train to J City. Had I not intended to live there for several years, I would never have known this clean, comfortable, peaceful, and tranquil southern town. Sure enough, the intellectual and intellectual clashes, the athletic and artistic pursuits, and the romantic entanglements hidden beneath the ivory tower of university life depicted in youth novels—all of these had absolutely nothing to do with my reality. The mundane and monotonous days slowly eroded my restless desires. Although I constantly sought clues of romance online during this time, it ultimately amounted to nothing more than the boring chirping of cicadas in the summer. However, the constant fruitlessness sometimes resulted in my already restless heart yearning even more intensely, with nowhere to vent yet powerless to do so. Two years passed in this way, until finally, in my third year, the flood that had long since overflowed found a breach in the dam—to be continued.
