Zhi Shen took the arms and moved them with lightning speed; his entire body moved without the slightest tremor.

Everyone cheered.

Standing by the gap in the wall was an official, wearing a blue gauze turban with upturned corners
; two white jade rings with beaded sideburns at the back of his head; a single green silk robe with floral patterns;
a double-otter silver belt with otter-like studs around his waist; and a pair of black boots with claw-shaped toes; in his hand he held a folding paper fan from Sichuan
; he had a leopard's head and round eyes, a swallow's collar and tiger's beard, and was about eight feet tall, around thirty-four or thirty-five years old; he said, "This
master is truly extraordinary, wielding his weapons well!"

The ruffians said, "This teacher's praise must mean he's good."

Zhi Shen asked, "Who is that officer?"

The crowd said, "This official is Lin Chong, the instructor of spears and cudgels for the 800,000 Imperial Guards."

Zhi Shen said, "Why don't we invite him to meet us?"

Instructor Lin then jumped over the wall.

The two met under the locust tree and sat down together.

Instructor Lin then asked, "Brother, where are you from? What is your Buddhist name?"

Zhi Shen replied, "I am Lu Da from Guanzhong. I became a monk because I killed so many people. When I was young, I went
to Dongjing and met your father, Commander Lin." Lin Chong was overjoyed and decided to become sworn brothers with Zhi Shen.
