The monotonous life of working was fortunately made possible by the companionship and assistance of women. His hardworking and kind third sister-in-law allowed him to experience romance and became his business partner; Yu Qin, a senior executive at a foreign company, compensated for his lack of knowledge and showed him the wild style of urban white-collar workers; the beautiful and elegant Jing'er became his favorite, but he couldn't marry her; Gui Ling returned, displaying her foxy nature and seductive charm, reigniting their passion; the exceptional woman, Sister Wu, allowed him to experience the ultimate in sexual pleasure… Volume 1 , Chapter 001: The Women of the Neighboring Village

. As soon as the final exams were over, Feng Zhigang planned to go to Shanghai to work. He wouldn't take the college entrance exam; the town-run high school only produced a few college students each year, and that wouldn't be a chance for someone like him, whose grades were only average in his class. The next day, after breakfast, Feng Zhigang went to the neighboring village to find Peng Dazhi's wife, asking her to call Peng Dazhi and recommend him for a job under his management. Peng Dazhi had been working as a laborer for many years, and recently he started leading a group of workers as a contractor. Pengjia Village was the closest village to Xiaofengzhuang, separated only by a small reservoir. Upstream from the reservoir, it would practically be one village if not for the reservoir. Pengjia Village was much larger than Xiaofengzhuang, which had only about twenty households, while Pengjia Village had several hundred. Peng Dazhi's family owned two small Western-style houses, one in front and one behind. The front house was where his parents and unmarried younger brother, Peng Erzhi, lived, and the back house was built by Peng Dazhi for his wedding. Feng Zhigang had come to watch the wedding; the bride was Zhang Guiling from Zhangzhouzhuang, a high school student, quite pretty. Shortly after the wedding, Zhang Guiling went to Shanghai with Peng Dazhi. A few months later, she returned to Pengjia Village heavily pregnant to prepare for childbirth. Feng Zhigang often visited Pengjia Village on weekends to see his best friend, Peng Fangyang. His impression of Zhang Guiling was that of a heavily pregnant woman walking around, all traces of her former beauty gone. When Feng Zhigang entered, Zhang Guiling was sitting at the table in the main room, breastfeeding her child. The baby was 11 months old and still breastfeeding. Seeing the woman's snow-white breasts, Feng Zhigang blushed, his heart pounding. Seeing him, Zhang Guiling casually said, "Zhigang's here? Have a seat," and continued breastfeeding. Feng Zhigang sat nervously opposite her at the table, glancing occasionally at the door and then casually watching the baby nurse. Feeling embarrassed, he picked up a book from the table—the title was "A Report on Chinese Human Psychology." He quickly put the book down, his face turning even redder. Zhang Guiling saw this clearly and smiled, saying, "Take a look. This book is very good, especially for a young man like you who needs to learn about this kind of knowledge. There's nothing to be embarrassed about." Feng Zhigang obediently flipped through the book, though he couldn't really concentrate. The baby had eaten and fallen asleep. Zhang Guiling put him in the cradle, buttoned her clothes, and asked, "Zhigang, what's up?" Feng Zhigang blushed and didn't dare look at her, his eyes fixed on his book, and said, "I'm thinking of going to Shanghai to work." "Is that all? Okay, I'll call Dazhi right now." The telephone was in the inner room. Zhang Guiling said, "Come in with me." Feng Zhigang went into the inner room. The new house was exactly the same as when they got married, with no changes. The furniture was custom-made in European style from a furniture store in the county town. It had an extra bookcase compared to typical rural new houses, as Feng Zhigang knew the bride liked to read novels. It had everything: air conditioning, a television, stereo, VCD player, telephone, etc.—top-tier luxury in the countryside. Zhang Guiling's call connected: "Dazhi, do you remember Feng Zhigang from Xiaofengzhuang? He graduated high school and wants to go to Shanghai to work. Do you still need anyone?" The phone hummed with machinery. Dazhi said, "What do you mean, 'need anyone'? Just tell him to come. If there's no suitable work right away, have him cook for Third Sister-in-law. She can't manage alone. Ask him if he's willing to do that first." Zhang Guiling covered the receiver and turned to Feng Zhigang, "Zhigang, Dazhi said you should cook for Third Sister-in-law first, and then we'll arrange other work for you when a better opportunity arises. Are you in?" Feng Zhigang said, "Sure. As long as I have food to eat and can earn money, I'll do anything." Zhang Guiling continued into the receiver, "Okay, he said yes. When do you think he can come?" "Anytime is fine." Zhang Guiling hung up and said, "No problem. Dazhi said you can come anytime." "Thank you, Sister-in-law Dazhi." Having finished his business, Feng Zhigang hesitated, wondering whether to leave immediately or stay a while longer. Zhang Guiling, having been through it all, looked at the boy's still-childish face with its fuzzy mustache and understood his feelings. She had been back home for over a year, preparing for childbirth and giving birth, and Peng Dazhi had only returned once, during her labor, when they couldn't be intimate. It was the stage when she most needed a man; she longed for one, yet had no opportunity. When she couldn't sleep at night, she would get up and read novels. But the more she read, the more her mind raced, and the more lonely she felt. As more and more men went out to work, more and more women like her were left behind in the village. Some bolder, more open women sought temporary sexual partners. Over time, this became a semi-open secret among the women left behind; everyone understood, and they rarely gossiped. Zhang Guiling's best friend in the village, Cai Hongxia, was with Peng Shuyou, the village secretary. Peng Shuyou's wife had run off with someone else, leaving an 8-year-old boy with Peng Shuyou's mother. Cai Hongxia's parents-in-law had passed away, leaving her with a 4-year-old and a nursing child. It was convenient for both of them, so they lived together almost openly. Peng Shuyou helped with all the farm work at Zhao Hongxia's house; otherwise, the land would have to be left fallow. They had an unspoken agreement not to break up each other's families. Whenever Cai Hongxia's husband returned, Peng Shuyou would go home to live , and Cai Hongxia would take good care of her husband. Cai Hongxia didn't hide this from Zhang Guiling at all. She even said she would help Zhang Guiling find a man, but Zhang Guiling refused. She lived with her parents-in-law, so if this were true, it was impossible for the elders not to know. Although local customs were relatively simple and unpretentious, and restrictions on matters between men and women were not strict, no one would want to see their daughter-in-law cheating on them right under their noses. Seeing Feng Zhigang's shy and awkward demeanor, Zhang Guiling, who had initially had no intention of pursuing him, experienced a subtle change in her heart. A feeling of... ( Chapter 002, First Time as a Man) Zhang Guiling glanced at Feng Zhigang and said with a smile, "Zhigang, what are you thinking about?" A woman's allure is innate; if she wants to display it, she will be incredibly charming, making men unable to resist, especially when facing a clueless young man like Feng Zhigang. Feng Zhigang was completely flustered. "Zhigang, let me show you a book." Zhang Guiling took a book from the bookshelf and handed it to him. He opened it and saw many pictures of men and women, as well as diagrams of genital structure. It was a legitimate publication popularizing sex knowledge, but it was already quite attractive to Feng Zhigang. His face flushed as he flipped through it, but Feng Guiling snatched it away. "This book is for you; take it home and read it slowly. Don't you want to see a real woman now?" Feng Zhigang's eyes widened as he watched Zhang Guiling take off her top. Soon, the pair of mysterious breasts he had seen while breastfeeding her earlier sprang out dazzlingly. Zhang Guiling pulled Feng Zhigang's hand and placed it on his right breast. Feng Zhigang felt a jolt, as if electrocuted, and his body trembled, instantly ignited. Afterwards, the two remained entwined for a long time before slowly separating. They lay there, not knowing how much time had passed. For a moment, Feng Zhigang felt a pang of sadness, thinking, "I've had a woman without even love?" He turned his head somewhat blankly to look at the woman beside him, realizing that women are most beautiful after making love. The woman's hand caressed his chest, her blood-red lips pressed against his, kissing him, her tongue probing his throat. His tongue met hers, entwining with hers; it was his first kiss, incredibly sweet. Lying on his back, Feng Zhigang said, "I'm not going to Shanghai anymore." The woman sat up, looking down at Feng Zhigang: "You said you're not going to Shanghai?" "Yes. With you, I don't want to go to Shanghai."

The woman said, "That won't do. You have to go to Shanghai."

"What will I do when I miss you?"

"You'll have other women. You're new to this now, but you'll understand after you've experienced more."

"Don't you miss me?"

The woman leaned down and kissed his lips with her blood-red lips, saying, "I will miss you. Do you know how much joy you've given me?"

"Then why are you asking me to go to Shanghai?"

"Silly boy, we can't always be together. Peng Dazhi is a good man, he's good to me, and I like him too. I don't want to leave him. Most importantly, your future lies outside. There are plenty of women, but this is your only path. If you're infatuated with me, you'll ruin your life. A man should have ambition and his own opinions; don't let women influence your decisions. If you like me, I'll still want you in the future if I have the chance, but don't let anyone know. I won't marry you, and you shouldn't say you'll marry me."

Feng Zhigang felt a warmth in his heart and truly began to fall in love with this woman. He gently caressed her breasts and asked, "When will I get to Shanghai?"

"The sooner the better. You should leave tomorrow."

"Tomorrow? That's too soon!"

"You have to be decisive. Remember, you're a man."

"But I'm not ready yet."

"What's there to be ready for? Leaving your parents is the same as leaving me; the more reluctant you are, the harder it is to leave. Leaving tomorrow or leaving a month later, you'll have to be equally ruthless. It's better to make a decision sooner. If you don't have money, I'll give you travel expenses; you won't need to spend any money there."

Feng Zhigang was speechless. This woman is truly wonderful, he thought. It would be a blessing to marry such a woman.

In front of a good woman, a man becomes confident, always realizing he is an independent and capable man.

Eighteen-year-old Feng Zhigang truly became a man.

Chapter 003 Finding a Job

Feng Zhigang really didn't want to go to Shanghai. He didn't know how to face Peng Dazhi. He had slept with Peng Dazhi's woman, cuckolded him, and was now working for him, seeing him every day. Just thinking about it made him uneasy and ashamed.

Where else could he go if not Shanghai? Most people in the surrounding area went to Shanghai to work, and very few went to Beijing or Guangzhou, which were even further away. If you went to Shanghai, you were bound to run into one or two fellow villagers, making it easier to go home if anything happened. Feng Zhigang decided to go to Shanghai anyway, but he would never go to see Peng Dazhi.

Zhigang was the youngest in his family; both his older sisters were married. His mother couldn't bear to see him go so far, but she couldn't stop him. She could only tearfully pull out 100 yuan in loose change from the bottom of her trunk for his travel expenses. His father, carrying his large snakeskin bag of luggage, walked silently with him for twelve li (about 6 kilometers) to the town to see him off on the long-distance bus to the county seat. As the bus started moving, his father walked a few steps outside the window, waving his hand and saying, "If you can't make it, come back."

This was the only thing his taciturn father said to him that day.

At the county bus station, Feng Zhigang bought a sleeper bus ticket for the 4 pm direct bus to Shanghai. He endured the unpleasant smell of stinky feet the entire way, dozing off and waking up intermittently, bumping along for over ten hours before finally arriving in Shanghai. It was a little past 4 a.m., still dark. Fortunately, it was summer, so it wasn't cold. Feng Zhigang, carrying a large snakeskin bag, found a place to sit by the roadside outside the station, waiting for dawn.

More and more cars appeared on the street, and buses started arriving one after another. As it grew brighter, Feng Zhigang had no idea where to go. He knew that in the countryside, a high school diploma was the highest level of education, but here, he could only find manual labor, no different from a junior high school graduate or even an illiterate person. For him, the place with the most opportunities was a construction site.

Feng Zhigang stood up and looked around; he couldn't tell which way to go. This long-distance bus station was called the West District Station, and the elevated highway was right outside. He crossed the highway and walked forward, thinking he'd just keep going and eventually encounter a construction site. He later learned that this elevated highway was Shanghai's earliest inner ring road. He had indeed made the right choice; the area outside the inner ring road had the most construction sites.

Not far along, there was another construction site, and the workers were already at work. In the summer, they had to work in the cool mornings, just like farmers in the countryside. Seeing a gatekeeper at the construction site entrance, Feng Zhigang went over and asked, "Brother, do you need any help at your construction site?"

The gatekeeper looked him up and down and asked, "Where are you from?"

"Anhui."

"No. Our boss is from Wenzhou and prefers to hire people from Zhejiang. Even if we hire people from other provinces, we don't want people from Anhui."

"Why?"

"Because you're new to Shanghai and don't know anything. People from Anhui like to fight, and they also like to steal and rob. We don't want them at construction sites."

Feng Zhigang continued walking for an hour and came to another, larger construction site. He went straight to the gate and asked the gatekeeper, "Brother, do you need any help here?"

The gatekeeper also looked him up and down and asked, "Where are you from?"

This time, Feng Zhigang was more cautious and said, "Jiangsu."

"Southern or northern Jiangsu?"

"Xuzhou."

He knew from geography class that there was a city called Xuzhou in Jiangsu.

"Oh. That's northern Jiangsu. Our boss won't hire you. People from northern Jiangsu are similar to people from Anhui—poor, low-class, and like to fight and steal."

Feng Zhigang had thought about how hard it was to find work, but he hadn't expected this to be the reason. He didn't even have a chance to introduce himself; he was rejected simply because he was from Anhui. He couldn't say he was from Zhejiang either, his accent wouldn't be right.

It was already noon, and Feng Zhigang was both thirsty and exhausted. He touched his shirt pocket; he had 35 yuan left. He mentally recounted the expenses: his mother had given him 100 yuan, the bus fare from town to county was 5 yuan, the long-distance bus fare to Shanghai was 55 yuan, insurance was 2 yuan, and he had eaten a packet of instant noodles for 3 yuan last night, totaling 65 yuan. He hadn't eaten anything since last night; he needed something to eat.

He continued walking, looking for cheap snacks. He regretted refusing the 200 yuan Zhang Guiling had given him when he left Peng Dazhi's house the day before yesterday. He thought, "We've already slept together, why should I be embarrassed to take her money?"

But then he thought, "I really can't take the money. If I do, the nature of our time together will change."

There was a noodle shop by the roadside. Feng Zhigang stopped to check the prices: 2 yuan a bowl, 3 yuan with beef. He glanced at the beef in the customer's bowl; it was quite large, yet as thin as a leaf—the knife skills were excellent. He ordered a bowl of vegetarian noodles. He only had 33 yuan left in his pocket.

After finishing the noodles, he was still not full. He asked for the noodle soup twice to drink, which quenched his thirst and made him feel full.

In the afternoon, he passed three construction sites, but was turned away at all. The sun was already setting, and the heat had subsided considerably; it was probably around five or six o'clock. There was a toy factory by the roadside. Feng Zhigang thought, "Toy factories must need workers. I'm a high school student; can't I be a worker?

" Unlike the security guards at the construction sites, the security guards at the factory gate wore uniforms and looked quite imposing. Feng Zhigang asked the security guard sitting inside through the window of the guardhouse, "Brother, are you hiring here?"

The security guard waved his hand and said, "No, no. We'll post a notice at the gate if we're hiring. Come and check often; apply when there's a notice."

Another security guard was shooing away a vendor selling popsicles on a bicycle by the roadside, saying that the workers were about to leave and shouldn't block the way. The man approached Feng Zhigang and asked, "Brother, you won't find a job like this."

Feng Zhigang looked at the man's dark, stubble-covered face and asked, "Do you know how to find a job?"

The man didn't answer but instead asked, "Are you from Anhui?"

"Yes."

"I'm from Anhui too. People from Shanghai look down on people from Anhui, and bosses from other places don't want people from Anhui. Jobs are hard to find. To get a job in this factory, you have to give gifts."

"You have to give gifts?"

"I tried before, but I still couldn't get in. This factory is a joint venture between the township government and Taiwanese people. You need the township head's approval to work there. I got a referral from a fellow villager who works at the factory, and that's how I got the gift to the township head's house. They told me to wait for notification. I waited a month and still no news. My wife and I came here together. Rent is 100 yuan a month, and we also need to eat. I had no choice but to buy an old bicycle, nail together a box, and sell popsicles to earn some money."

"What gifts did you give?"

"Two packs of Double Happiness cigarettes and two bottles of liquor. It cost 100 yuan."

Feng Zhigang thought this fellow villager was nice and helpful, so he asked, "If I want to work as a laborer on the construction site, how do I find someone?"

"It's no use asking the gatekeeper. You have to find a way to sneak in, find the boss, find the foreman."

Feng Zhigang realized then that he had wasted the whole afternoon looking for someone and hadn't even gotten close.

Chapter 004 Meeting a Fellow Villager

Feng Zhigang knew that the further he went along this national highway, the further he would be from downtown Shanghai. But he always felt that the prosperity of Shanghai didn't belong to him; perhaps it would be easier to find work further away.

Now, he needed to think about how to spend the night and where to sleep. He arrived at a town that looked even more prosperous than the county seat. Looking at the signs of businesses along the roadside, he knew it was Xujing Town. He'd find a place in the town center to spend the night; it was safer than being in the wilderness. His stomach was already growling, but he had to eat as late as possible to postpone his next meal. Besides, the night was long, and he was bound to get hungry again.

Feng Zhigang found what looked like the smallest, most dilapidated, and most unhygienic fast-food restaurant and ordered a large bowl of plain noodles for 3 yuan.

"Boss, give me a bowl of beef noodles."

A tall, thin young man walked in and sat opposite Feng Zhigang. He rested his arm on the worn-out square table, which wobbled and tilted towards Feng Zhigang, as if it were about to fall apart. The young man quickly lowered his arm.

Feng Zhigang's noodles arrived, and he quickly finished them. He said to the waiter, "Could I have a bowl of soup?"

The young man opposite him, who was flipping through a copy of the *Talent Market Newspaper*, heard Feng Zhigang speak, looked up at him, then at the snakeskin bag beside him, and asked, "Are you from Anhui?"

"Yes."

"Where in Anhui?"

"Chaohu City."

"Oh. I'm from Bengbu City, we're from the same hometown."

The young man's noodles arrived too. He put away the newspaper, picked up a noodle with his chopsticks, and blew on it as he asked, "Just arrived in Shanghai, right?"

"Yes, this morning. How did you know?"

"I could tell at a glance. I also knew you hadn't eaten enough and didn't have a place to stay tonight, right?"

Feng Zhigang blushed and nodded.

The young man asked again, "You don't know anyone in Shanghai to rely on, right?"

"No."

"So what are your plans? What kind of work are you looking for?"

"I'm thinking of finding work on a construction site. Any job, as long as I can eat."

"That requires hard work. You don't look like someone who usually does farm work. You graduated high school, right?"

"How did you know?"

"Haha. What don't I know? How about this, you seem honest, and we get along well. Share a room with me tonight, I won't charge you."

Feng Zhigang thought to himself, "Could this be a scam? Is it really that good?"

The young man seemed to see through his thoughts and said, "Don't worry, I won't scam you. Do you have any money to be scammed?"

Feng Zhigang thought that made sense; what could he possibly scam him out of? So he nodded.

The young man helped Feng Zhigang carry his burlap sack and led him for more than ten minutes to a very remote and crowded place. It was full of rental rooms, and all the tenants were migrant workers or job seekers from other places. The young man lived in a tiny room of no more than 10 square meters, with only a single bed.

“You can sleep on the floor tonight. I’m also looking for a job. If I find a good job first, I’ll move out, and you can stay here. I’ve already paid the rent until the end of the month.”

Feng Zhigang felt uneasy, wondering what the young man’s intentions were, so he mustered his courage and asked, “Why are you helping me like this?”

The young man said casually, “It’s fate. Don’t think I like helping people. I’ve been in Shanghai for half a year, changed jobs several times, and I’ve never helped anyone.”

Seeing that Feng Zhigang was still worried, he added, “I hate how Shanghainese look down on people from Anhui. I was in a good mood today and wanted to do something unusual, and I just happened to run into you. Isn’t this fate? Don’t worry, if you wake up tomorrow morning and find yourself still alive, go out and look for a job. If you’re scared, don’t come back.” During

their conversation, Feng Zhigang learned that the young man’s name was Wang Qianghui, and he was a recent graduate of the tourism major at East China Normal University. Are college graduates also having trouble finding jobs?

That night, Feng Zhigang couldn’t sleep, while Wang Qianghui slept soundly, snoring softly.

Chapter 005 Repatriation

In the morning, Wang Qianghui bought two sesame seed cakes for Feng Zhigang, and the two went their separate ways to look for work. Wang Qianghui took a bus to the job market in the city center, while Feng Zhigang went in the opposite direction.

He visited about ten construction sites that day, even managing to sneak in and find a foreman, but no one was willing to hire him. Two companies said they would take him if he had a Shanghai guarantor. Where could he find a Shanghai guarantor? He ate 3 yuan worth of noodles for lunch, leaving him with only 27 yuan.

Exhausted, he returned to Xujing Town in the evening and went to the same small restaurant for noodles. Just as he picked up his bowl, Wang Qianghui came in, sat down opposite him, and said, "Judging from your appearance, you haven't found a job."

Feng Zhigang nodded and asked, "What about you?"

"Sigh! I haven't found one either. My major isn't good."

He comforted Feng Zhigang, "Don't worry, you'll definitely find a job, as long as you persevere long enough."

That night, Feng Zhigang was awakened in the middle of the night by a commotion outside. He opened his eyes and saw Wang Qianghui sit up abruptly: "Oh no. The police are here."

Feng Zhigang was puzzled: "What's there to be afraid of? We haven't broken the law."

"They're checking temporary residence permits. You don't know, the police always target people from Anhui."

Before he finished speaking, someone knocked on the door. Wang Qianghui opened the door, and two fully equipped policemen came in. They glanced around the room, and one of them asked, "How many people are staying here?"

Wang Qianghui replied, "Two."

"Do you have temporary residence permits?"

"We just arrived in Shanghai today and haven't had time to apply for them."

"Give us your ID cards."

Wang Qianghui and Feng Zhigang both took out their ID cards. The policeman looked at them: "Anhui people? No temporary residence permits? Come with us."

Wang Qianghui said, "What right do you have? I haven't broken the law."

"Stop talking nonsense. Hurry up!"

As they were leaving, Feng Zhigang saw that the police across the hall were also questioning him: "Where are you from?"

"Fujian."

"Give us your ID cards."

After checking the ID cards, the policeman returned them to the other person: "Close the door. Go to sleep."

Feng Zhigang asked Wang Qianghui, "Why didn't you arrest the others?"

"Because we're from Anhui."

Many other people were also forced out and put on a large bus. Feng Zhigang asked, "Where are you taking

us?" Wang Qianghui said, "Home."

"Home?"

"Take them to the train station, then drop them off in Bengbu, Anhui."

"How did you know?"

"This is the third time I've been sent home."

Sure enough, they arrived at the train station and were forced onto a slow train heading north. They rattled along for what seemed like forever until dawn, then for another countless hours. They were supposed to arrive in Bengbu, but it wasn't Bengbu train station. They were all forced off at a tiny station without even a sign; there were several thousand people on board.

Wang Qianghui put his arm around Feng Zhigang's shoulder and said, "Let's go, to my house."

"Where do you live?"

"In the city, about 30 li (15 kilometers)."

Luckily, they hadn't brought any luggage. They crossed a mountain to take a shortcut, walking for three or four hours before finally arriving. Wang Qianghui's family lived in a factory's residential area; both his parents were factory workers. Seeing her son return home so destitute, Wang Qianghui's mother burst into tears, saying, "Son, why did you do this? Don't go back."

Wang Qianghui said, "Let's cook quickly. We're starving."

As they ate, his mother sat watching, tears still streaming down her face.

They slept at Wang Qianghui's house for one night, and the next day they were leaving. Wang Qianghui's parents couldn't stop them and could only see them off with tears in their eyes.

They took the train back to Shanghai and returned to their small house in Xujing.

A week later, Wang Qianghui found a job as a salesman at a machinery company, selling water pumps. Wang Qianghui moved away, and before leaving, he told Feng Zhigang, "Keep going, you'll definitely find a job. Things change, and if fate allows, we'll meet again."

Feng Zhigang felt particularly sad. If he had always been alone, he wouldn't have felt this bad. Although they hadn't spent much time together, the experience of being deported had made them feel closer. After the breakup, Feng Zhigang's loneliness intensified.

Chapter 006 Things Change

It was probably two or three in the afternoon when Feng Zhigang saw a large construction site. The summer sun was at its strongest at this time, shining brightly on the quiet construction site. There wasn't a single person on the scaffolding, and the cranes and excavators were all quietly parked there. Feng Zhigang already knew this was a break time; work wouldn't resume until after 3:30 PM to avoid the hottest part of the day. He hadn't found a place to eat lunch, and he was thirsty, hungry, dizzy, and feeling unwell. He wanted to find a place to rest.

Feng Zhigang walked to the construction site entrance and said to the gatekeeper, "Brother, could you give me some water?"

He had barely finished speaking when he collapsed and passed out.

The gatekeeper quickly ran out and helped him into a room. Seeing the blisters on his lips and his pale face, he knew he had heatstroke and, somewhat frightened, quickly called the foreman. Several other workers also gathered around. The foreman touched his head and felt it was burning hot. He said, "He needs to be taken to the hospital, or he'll die."

The gatekeeper said, "To the hospital? Does he have any money? Who's going to pay?"

The foreman hesitated for a moment, then said, "Let's take him to the hospital anyway, it's a matter of life and death. Search his pockets again."

There was a truck on the construction site, and the driver went to drive it. The foreman found a piece of paper in Feng Zhigang's pocket with Peng Dazhi's name, a mobile phone number, and a Shanghai address written on it. He took out his phone and dialed Peng Dazhi's number.

"Excuse me, are you Peng Dazhi?"

"Yes, where are you from?"

"We're from a construction site in Qingpu. A young man has collapsed from heatstroke here. He has your phone number on him."

Peng Dazhi immediately thought it might be Feng Zhigang and quickly said, "He's from my hometown. Could you please take him to the hospital? I'll be there right away."

"Okay. I'll take him to the nearest Qingpu Central Hospital."

"Okay. Thank you. Thank you."

When Peng Dazhi arrived at the hospital, Feng Zhigang had already woken up and was receiving an IV drip. He scolded, "Zhigang, why didn't you call me?"

Feng Zhigang smiled sheepishly, unsure how to explain, and Peng Dazhi didn't ask for one. After the IV drip was finished, Peng Dazhi drove his old Santana to the construction site.

Peng Dazhi's construction site was also in Qingpu District, not far from where Feng Zhigang had fainted. As soon as Feng Zhigang arrived at the site, he saw many familiar faces. His third sister-in-law happily hugged him, saying, "Little Zhigang has grown so much!"

This made Feng Zhigang very embarrassed; apart from Zhang Guiling, he had never been hugged like that by a woman, especially in front of others. His face flushed red, and he pulled away. His third sister-in-law didn't seem to mind, taking the snakeskin bag from Dazhi and leading him to the dormitory to stay, saying, "From now on, you'll help me cook. Rest for the next couple of days, don't do any work. You can start again when you're better."

Feng Zhigang thought, this must be what Wang Qianghui meant by fate, something he couldn't escape even if he wanted to. Oh well, he'd work here. He would never see Zhang Guiling again.

The next day, feeling better, Feng Zhigang helped his third sister-in-law with the chores. His third sister-in-law was in her early thirties, robust, with broad shoulders, large breasts, and a large bottom—the kind of woman farmers all liked, saying she was easy to care for, hardworking, and fertile. Indeed, the healthy, simple, and genuine demeanor she exuded, along with her rather pretty oval face, made her just as charming as the slender, willow-like women of the city with a little makeup. His third sister-in-law was from Jiangjia Village in Daishan. One summer evening, her husband was relaxing on a cool bed by the door when, in the middle of the night, a wolf ate his left arm in his sleep. Wolves had supposedly disappeared from Daishan, but somehow they had reappeared. With his husband disabled, he could only stay home to care for the children, relying on his third sister-in-law to work outside and earn money.

His third sister-in-law was talkative and efficient at her work, chatting as she worked without a moment's delay, and even remembered to instruct Feng Zhigang to wash, chop, and peel the vegetables.

Starting at 11:30, people began arriving for lunch, with the peak time around noon when dozens lined up to have Third Sister serve them. Today's lunch consisted of braised pork, braised winter melon, stir-fried cabbage—one meat dish, two vegetable dishes, and tomato and egg soup. Third Sister put three or four pieces of meat, each about the size of two mahjong tiles, in each person's bowl, along with two large spoonfuls of vegetables. Feng Zhigang was in charge of ladling the soup.

Peng Dazhi and four or five others didn't arrive until almost 1:00, discussing something as they walked. Feng Zhigang guessed these were key personnel like technicians and team leaders, as Third Sister gave them more than twice the amount of meat compared to the workers.

Only after serving Peng Dazhi and his group did Third Sister and Feng Zhigang sit down to eat. Feng Zhigang felt that Peng Dazhi's team was much better than the previous production team workers; everyone was obedient, and while there were hierarchical distinctions, they weren't too strict, and the workers accepted it. He thought it was probably because Peng Dazhi had been a soldier and knew how to manage these undisciplined and short-sighted laborers.

Chapter 007 Talking about Women

Feng Zhigang and Peng Dapeng slept in bunk beds. Dapeng, who used to be on the lower bunk, moved to the upper one, giving the lower bunk to Feng Zhigang. Ten people lived in the room, five bunk beds. Dapeng was from Pengjia Village; they knew each other from the past. The others looked familiar, probably from neighboring villages.

Several migrant workers in the room were playing cards around two tables made of wooden crates. One table was playing dominoes, the other a game of "Striving for the Top," both for money. Everyone's income was low, and the stakes were low, only a few hundred yuan a night.

Feng Zhigang asked Dapeng, "Do you usually play cards?"

"Yes. What else do I do? It's so hot, the room is still hot, I can't sleep. I can only sleep after midnight."

"What time do you get up in the morning?"

"6:30."

"That's really hard work."

"It's okay. I can catch up on sleep at noon."

"Besides playing cards, do you do anything else? Like reading books or newspapers?"

"Yes, I do. Look."

Da Peng pulled out a dozen magazines from his bedside table, including titles like *Story Club*, *Shanghai Stories*, and *Legend*, along with some tabloids. The headlines were all vulgar, featuring stories of elopement, prostitution, drug use, and other criminal themes. Feng Zhigang picked up the *Story Club* and other magazines, thinking they were worth reading. He planned to kill time the next afternoon when he had some free time.

Just then, someone at the dominoes table lost all their money and the game ended. One of the men, a short-haired, long-faced man who looked a bit like Ken Takakura, came over and asked Feng Zhigang, "Are you new here? Your name is Feng Zhigang? You look quite energetic, young man. Stay with us for a couple of days, and I guarantee you'll wilted."

Da Peng said, "This is Uncle Quanfa, also from Pengjia Village."

Uncle Quanfa patted Feng Zhigang's head and said, "Young man, do you know what we lack most here?"

Feng Zhigang looked at him suspiciously, hesitatingly saying, "Money?"

Uncle Quanfa said, "Money, but even more so, women. You know what? Women are what we lack most."

Feng Zhigang looked at Da Peng. Da Peng nodded.

Uncle Quanfa said, "Didn't you see? There are sixty or seventy people on our construction site, and only Third Sister-in-law is a woman. Have you ever seen a woman's buttocks?"

Seeing Feng Zhigang staring blankly, Uncle Quanfa said, "You're only 18 years old, you probably haven't seen one. Once you've been with a woman, you'll know how so many men manage to solve that problem. It's tough."

Soon Feng Zhigang learned that the workers' favorite pastime here wasn't playing cards, but talking about women.

Chapter 008 Third Sister-in-law's Lover

The sound of the migrant workers getting up in the morning woke Feng Zhigang. He got up and ran to the kitchen, where Third Sister-in-law had already cooked the porridge. He asked Third Sister-in-law, "Third Sister-in-law, why didn't you wake me up?"

"I can cook porridge by myself. You're still growing, sleep a little longer."

Feng Zhigang helped Third Sister-in-law scoop the porridge from the big pot into a large iron bucket and carried it outside. The workers had already arrived.

After breakfast, Third Sister-in-law took Feng Zhigang to the market to buy groceries. Feng Zhigang noticed that almost all the butchers, fishmongers, and vegetable vendors spoke with their local accents, and there were more women than men. Several of the men were too old to work on the construction site.

It turned out all the women had come here. He thought, "The construction site lacks women, but this place doesn't."

That evening, he told Dapeng about his discovery. Dapeng scoffed and said, "How many women are there? Do you know how many migrant workers are on construction sites in Shanghai? Our team is the smallest."

Feng Zhigang thought about it and agreed. He asked Dapeng, "With so many thirsty migrant workers, don't you think of a solution?"

Dapeng smiled at him and said, "Of course we have to find a solution, otherwise how will people survive?"

"What solutions?"

"Everyone has their own way."

Feng Zhigang was too embarrassed to ask further; he couldn't think of any solutions either. Da Peng grinned mischievously, glancing at him sideways, and said, "You're thinking about women? Have you ever been with a woman?"

Feng Zhigang blushed and retorted, "Have you ever?"

"Of course I have. How can I not think about women in such a boring life? What, you want to know how to play with women?"

Feng Zhigang's face turned even redder.

"Don't be shy. Is it a man who doesn't think about women? It proves you're developing normally."

"Then, how do you play?"

"Want to know? Go get me a cup of tea."

Feng Zhigang took Da Peng's teacup and ran to fill it with water. Uncle Quanfa, who was playing cards, said, "Zhigang, don't listen to him. I know all about his dirty deeds, I'm just telling you."

Dapeng said, "Just keep playing cards, be careful you don't lose everything."

Dapeng took a sip of water and said, "Do you know who my first woman was? You know her, it was Third Sister-in-law."

"Third Sister-in-law?"

Seeing Feng Zhigang's wide eyes, Dapeng was smug: "Yes, Third Sister-in-law. Don't think Third Sister-in-law sleeps with just anyone, no. She has three lovers, but she doesn't sleep with others. These three people know about each other, but they keep to themselves. They usually visit Third Sister-in-law twice a month, at different times."

"Who are these three people?"

Dapeng secretly pointed to Uncle Quanfa's back and whispered, "He's one. The other two are at other construction sites, they're all from the same village."

"Then how did you sleep with Third Sister-in-law?"

Feng Zhigang asked eagerly. This was the question he most wanted to know.

“It’s simple. When I first arrived, the dorms were full, and there was nowhere to sleep, so Third Sister-in-law gave me her room, saying she’d sleep in the kitchen. Actually, she didn’t go to the kitchen; she slept with me, and I slept with her.”

Uncle Quanfa spoke up again: “Don’t listen to his nonsense. That time, more than one person slept in Third Sister-in-law’s room; he didn’t have a chance at all.”

“Who says he didn’t have a chance? I couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night, so I went to the kitchen to get some cold water and saw Third Sister-in-law sleeping shirtless, so I slept with her.”

There was a flaw in his statement. If he said Third Sister-in-law slept in the same room as him, how could he say she slept in the kitchen? Feng Zhigang knew that migrant workers were proud to have such experiences, and the women involved were all people they knew. Whether it was true or not didn’t really matter, and no one bothered to verify it.

“How many women have you slept with?”

Feng Zhigang pressed Dapeng.

Da Peng counted on his fingers for a while and said, "There must be more than ten."

"How did you sleep with them all?"

"They all came to me willingly."

Uncle Quanfa said again, "You're just bragging."

Feng Zhigang asked, "Do you have a woman now?"

Da Peng shook his head: "No. They're all temporary."

Uncle Quanfa's card game ended again, and this time Uncle Quanfa lost everything. Uncle Quanfa walked over and said, "Kid, if you want to know what women are all about, you have to ask me."

Da Peng said, "That's true. No one understands women better than Uncle Quanfa."

Uncle Quanfa looked at Feng Zhigang and shook his head: "It's better not to say anything. This kid has never seen a woman before. If you talk too much, he won't be able to handle it, and he might even become a prostitute. Don't ruin him."

Chapter 009 Da Zhi Also Has Women

A month later, Feng Zhigang discovered Peng Da Zhi's secret: he also had women, and more than one.

Peng Da Zhi had a room by himself, which served as both an office and a dormitory, and it was even equipped with air conditioning. But he didn't often live there. He also wasn't often at the construction site, spending his days driving around in an old Santana. He needed to secure the construction projects, so he had to treat people to meals and karaoke. Da Peng said that the karaoke was just a pretext; after the karaoke, they would take the women away to a hotel.

One morning, Peng Dazhi brought a beautiful woman into his office-cum-bedroom. It was during working hours, and no one saw them except Feng Zhigang and his third sister-in-law. Feng Zhigang asked his third sister-in-law what the woman did for a living. His third sister-in-law said, "That's Dazhi's mistress, from a brothel. Her job is to make men happy and then pay them."

"Isn't Dazhi afraid people will find out?"

"What's there to be afraid of? Everyone does this. You can't survive the hard life of a laborer without doing this. The workers all know, but he doesn't want to make a fuss. He rarely brings her to the construction site, and when he does, it's always because something urgent has come up, and the woman happens to be on the bus, so he brings her along."

Just then, he heard Dazhi calling him, "Zhigang, come here for a moment."

Feng Zhigang entered Peng Dazhi's office; the air conditioning was on, and it was very cool. The woman was sitting on the edge of the bed, and Peng Dazhi was sitting behind his desk.

"Zhigang, how have you been these past few days? Are you settling in well?"

Feng Zhigang replied, "I'm settling in well. I'm doing great."

"Want to drive?"

Feng Zhigang was taken aback. "Drive?"

"Yes, be my driver. How about it?"

"But I can't drive."

"If you can't drive, I'll take you to learn. I've already registered you, and I'll pay the tuition."

He took out a textbook and a slip of paper and handed them to Feng Zhigang. "You need to be at this location at six o'clock on Saturday morning. The instructor will drive there to pick you up."

"What about Third Sister-in-law? She can't manage alone."

"I've already made arrangements. Someone will come to relieve you."

"Great!"

What could be better? He could learn a skill, earn a higher salary, and broaden his horizons by following Da Zhi.

"Brother Da Zhi, I'll go talk to Third Sister-in-law now so she can be prepared."

"Okay. Go ahead."

Feng Zhigang glanced at the woman sitting on the bed, turned around, and left. Only after he left did he realize that the woman had been staring at him, just like the way a prostitute sitting behind a glass door, with most of her breasts exposed, stares at men passing by.

Chapter 010 Driving School

Peng Dazhi enrolled Feng Zhigang in a driving school in Baoshan District. Feng Zhigang got up before 4 a.m. on Saturday, traveling almost across the entire city, from south to north, changing buses three times, and taking two hours to arrive there at 5:50 a.m. The yellow-marked training car was already waiting by the roadside.

Seeing that someone was already in the front seat, Feng Zhigang opened the back door and got in. The instructor asked, "Are you Feng Zhigang?"

"Yes."

"Good. There's one more person; we'll leave when we get here."

A girl with long, flowing hair sat in the passenger seat. She turned back and smiled at him before turning away. This girl was clearly from the city; her skin was fair and delicate, and that smile was etched into Feng Zhigang's mind like a celebrity photo. Probably a college graduate, a white-collar worker, Feng Zhigang thought.

The last person got in, also a girl, chubby, with a round face that was actually quite pretty. The chubby girl was quite lively. She immediately asked, "What's your name?"

"Feng Zhigang."

"What do you do for a living?"

"I'll be a driver from now on, driving for the boss. And you?"

"My name is Wang Lili, I work in finance."

Wang Lili pointed to the girl in front and said, "Her name is Shi Yuqin, she's the HR manager of a foreign company. Your instructor's surname is Zhang, so let's call him Instructor Zhang."

Instructor Zhang drove the car to a training ground and began instructing them on how to reverse into a parking space. The two girls had already practiced a few times, and under the instructor's guidance, they could barely succeed once every three attempts. Feng Zhigang had never driven a car before; in fact, he rarely saw cars in his hometown. He had to start practicing from the beginning, how to accelerate, and how to brake.

The three of them took turns practicing, and after a few rounds, it was lunchtime. The instructor drove the car to a small restaurant, and they went inside and sat down. Wang Lili told Feng Zhigang that the three trainees would have to pay for lunch, splitting the bill equally. Feng Zhigang secretly felt his pocket; there was 100 yuan inside, pocket money given to him by Peng Dazhi. The three of them ordered the food together, plus a bottle of beer for the instructor, totaling only 60 yuan, averaging 20 yuan per person.

Being boys, they adapted to the machinery naturally easily. After two days of practice, by the end of Sunday afternoon, Feng Zhigang's skill level had caught up with the two girls.

On Monday, Feng Zhigang still got up early and arrived at the meeting point, only to find that there were two different trainees, both boys. He learned that they had classes and would only come to practice on the weekend. He didn't go on Tuesday either, continuing to help his sister-in-law cook. When he went again on Saturday, the two girls were indeed there, but a new boy had joined them.

After practicing all morning, Instructor Zhang told him, "You're good enough now; you should pass the test. You can teach them this afternoon."

Feng Zhigang knew the instructor was slacking off and asked, "Can I do it?"

"No problem. The speed is very slow, and there's no one else on the training ground. I'm nearby, so don't worry. If you notice anything wrong, just step on the brakes."

The first person he instructed that afternoon was Shi Yuqin. Watching the girl's clumsy movements, he thought, "How smart does one have to be to be a human resources manager at a foreign company? This girl is so clumsy, how can she be a manager?"

He didn't know that driving and being a human resources manager were two different things, and that men and women were also two different things. However, he felt a sense of confidence from this experience, feeling that he could probably do many mysterious and important things well.

The first test was a theory test, and he only scored 78 points, failing. The two girls, however, passed on their first try, one with 99 points and the other with 100. After waiting half a month, he took the next theory test and also passed with 100 points. The two girls had already taken the parking test once, and Shi Yuqin failed. When she met Feng Zhigang at the practice range, Shi Yuqin said with a wry smile, "You still have to help me, why am I so clumsy?"

Feng Zhigang discovered that Shi Yuqin's problem was that she was timid and lacked strength; she hesitated when she should turn the steering wheel and missed the opportunity. He knew that if you turn the steering wheel at the same time, there is a big difference between turning it quickly and slowly. He suggested that Shi Yuqin turn the steering wheel 5 seconds earlier than the time the instructor instructed. Shi Yuqin tried it and succeeded every time. She said happily, "You're amazing. You're smarter than the coach. The coach has no idea what my problem is."

Feng Zhigang and Shi Yuqin took the driving test on the same day. Feng Zhigang took the test first and passed on the first try. He didn't leave. When he sent Shi Yuqin in, he told her, "Don't be afraid. Just do it like you usually do. Don't think about anything else. Just follow the steps I told you to do."

Shi Yuqin also succeeded on the first try. When she came out, she was unusually happy and hugged Feng Zhigang, saying, "Thank you. Thank you."

When they parted, Shi Yuqin gave Feng Yugang her phone number and made an appointment to practice and take the road test together again.

Chapter 011 Third Sister-in-law (1)

After getting his driver's license, Peng Dazhi asked Feng Zhigang to drive for him. Peng Dazhi, who came from a military background, was bold and decisive. He was not worried that Feng Zhigang was a novice. He believed that the more you trust a novice, the better he will drive. Besides, the speed in the city is not high. The bumps and scrapes on that old Santana are nothing. After a month or two, he'd be ready for long-distance driving; a single trip of several hundred kilometers would make him an experienced driver.

Actually, Feng Zhigang didn't need to drive every day; Peng Dazhi preferred to drive himself, perhaps because there were some things he didn't want others to know. He'd usually have Feng Zhigang drive when drinking was involved. Sometimes he'd also ask Feng Zhigang to deliver things or pick people up from the airport or train station.

When he wasn't driving, Feng Zhigang would help his third sister-in-law in the kitchen. They hadn't found a helper yet, and his third sister-in-law couldn't manage alone.

She worked quickly and didn't care about her appearance. She wore only a loose undershirt, no bra, and her breasts bounced up and down like two rabbits, making Feng Zhigang blush and his heart race. Whenever she bent over, he could see her two snow-white, full breasts through the neckline. Feng Zhigang could see them all day long if he wanted to.

His third sister-in-law slept for a long time at noon, probably because she worked hard and had to get up at 4 a.m. every morning. Or perhaps she didn't sleep well at night because her lover would come. Feng Zhigang didn't see the two lovers Da Peng mentioned at the construction site, so he was certain that Uncle Quanfa was indeed Third Sister-in-law's lover. One evening, Peng Dazhi invited the leaders of the Construction Committee to dinner. After dinner, they went to karaoke, and it was already past midnight when he returned. When he got back to the dormitory, he found that Uncle Quanfa's bed was empty, so he quietly went to the window of the room next to the kitchen where Third Sister-in-law lived. In the summer, the window was never closed. He heard Third Sister-in-law's moans, which she was trying to suppress but couldn't, along with a man's heavy breathing and the sounds of flesh colliding. He blushed and his heart pounded, so he quickly went back to the dormitory to sleep. He couldn't sleep, and after a long time, he saw Uncle Quanfa quietly slip in like a ghost, go to his own bed, and soon begin snoring loudly.

Because she was the only woman on the construction site, the workers liked to make lewd jokes with her during meals. She always gave Uncle Quanfa a lot of meat, and no one complained, but the jokes continued, and everyone would ask her for more meat. They would say, "Sister-in-law, you have so much meat, it's a waste not to eat it, let us have some meat."

Sister-in-law would always retort, "Go ask your mother for meat."

Some people would deliberately nudge her breast with their elbows while serving rice, and she would chase after them with a soup spoon. Feng Zhigang could tell that Sister-in-law wasn't really angry. Everyone was just joking. This was the only bit of fun in this hard and monotonous life. At this time, Uncle Quanfa didn't say anything, just buried his head in his food, as if it had nothing to do with him.

After December, Peng Dazhi rarely came to the construction site, and he hosted dinners every night, with Feng Zhigang also busy helping out. Sometimes, if the guests weren't important, Peng Dazhi would invite Feng Zhigang to sit at the table and eat with them. In most cases, Feng Zhigang would eat a bowl of noodles or rice outside by himself, then sit in his car and wait. When he estimated it was almost time, he'd go into the private room to see if it was over. Eating was only the first half; the second half was karaoke. Once at the karaoke bar, Feng Zhigang would quickly arrange the private room. After everything was arranged, the madam would bring out a dozen or so scantily clad women for the guests to choose from, and he'd leave and return to his car to wait. Two or three hours later, when he estimated the guests had sobered up, he'd go in again to check if it was over. Sometimes they'd go out for a late-night snack; sometimes they wouldn't, and would arrange for each guest to take their own woman to a hotel. At this point, Peng Dazhi would always tell Feng Zhigang to drive back to the construction site first.

For half a month, they ate at the hotel every day, mostly Peng Dazhi paying, sometimes someone else paying. This time, probably the last day, Peng Dazhi was treating. The guest seemed very important, possibly a high-ranking, powerful leader, as evidenced by Peng Dazhi's attitude. After karaoke, they'd have a late-night snack. They drove to a place far out of the city, almost outside Shanghai, but there was a very lively place with endless food stalls on both sides of the street. Feng Zhigang chose a less conspicuous spot and asked for a table. Several leaders who had been so respectable during the day now revealed their true colors, their clothes disheveled, each with a prostitute, some already impatiently and rudely reaching into the prostitutes' clothes.

Peng Dazhi told Feng Zhigang not to wait any longer and to drive back first, as the guests all had cars. Along the way, Feng Zhigang's eyes were fixed on those beautiful and sexy prostitutes, their breasts squeezed so hard they bulged out of their low-cut necklines like semi-circular fleshy balls. He had been in Shanghai for almost half a year and had not touched a woman. After experiencing passionate and unrestrained sex with Zhang Guiling, he was already very eager for that kind of feeling.

Chapter 012 Third Sister-in-law (2)

It was already 4 a.m. when they returned to the construction site. Feng Zhigang parked the car and passed by the kitchen when the light in Third Sister-in-law's room suddenly turned on. He knew that his third sister-in-law's room door wasn't locked. The construction site was closed off, and there were security guards at the main gate, so the workers' dormitories weren't locked. He couldn't resist pushing the door

open and going in. His third sister-in-law was getting dressed and was startled when she heard the door open. She looked up and saw him, asking, "Zhigang, you're only just getting back?" "Yes. Today, Brother Dazhi invited some guests, and each of them took a prostitute to a hotel to sleep. Even Dazhi took one, so he sent me back."

His third sister-in-law laughed, "Oh, little Zhigang, you couldn't resist thinking about women too?"

His third sister-in-law's smile was beautiful, and Feng Zhigang couldn't control himself. He went up and pressed his hand down on his third sister-in-law, preventing her from getting dressed, saying, "Don't get up, let me sleep for a bit."

Before his third sister-in-law could react, he snatched the coat she was about to put on and threw it aside, then hugged her and kissed her. Third Sister-in-law pushed him away, saying, "Zhigang, you're still young, don't rush."

Zhigang said, "How can you expect me not to rush? I'm dying of impatience!"

He took off his clothes, lifted the covers from Third Sister-in-law's bed, and without any foreplay, pulled down her panties and eagerly thrust inside. It had been half a year since he'd tasted a woman again, and he felt incredibly happy. Third Sister-in-law could only let him do as he pleased, cooperating with his movements and enjoying him. The desire accumulated over the past six months suddenly erupted, and he experienced the pain of destruction once more. At that moment, he didn't want anything in the world but the bottomless flesh of the woman before him.

Afterwards, Feng Zhigang gradually calmed down. Third Sister-in-law cupped his face in her hands, kissed his lips, and laughed, saying, "You little rascal, you're so bad. You actually raped your own sister-in-law."

"You're only in your thirties, the most beautiful age for a woman."

"You little rascal, how old are you? You're quite experienced. I'm definitely not your first woman, right?"

Feng Zhigang didn't speak, which was tantamount to admitting it.

"Who is that woman? Do I know her? She must be from a nearby village."

Feng Zhigang admitted, "She's a young wife, and her husband works outside."

"Oh."

Third Sister-in-law didn't ask any more questions.

Feng Zhigang touched Third Sister-in-law's breasts and thighs, and involuntarily touched her wet area again. Third Sister-in-law stopped him and said, "No, I have to get up and cook. If the porridge isn't cooked well, the workers will scold me."

Seeing that Zhigang's fingers were reluctant to leave, Third Sister-in-law said, "You've been with a woman, so you're a man now. A man should be responsible and have a sense of duty. He should do his work and not get stuck with women. How about this, we'll come back this afternoon after the workers go to work. Okay?"

Third Sister-in-law's attitude also cooled down Zhigang's desire. He put his tongue into Third Sister-in-law's mouth and sucked hard for a while before letting her go.

Chapter 013 Third Sister-in-law (3)

Feng Zhigang had a good sleep and didn't wake up until lunch. After eating, he couldn't fall asleep. The workers were all sleeping, and Third Sister-in-law was also taking a nap. He patiently waited, staring intently at the many small squares divided by the thin iron bars under the upper bunk's mattress, each square displaying a different pattern.

Finally, when all the workers had arrived, Feng Zhigang rushed to his third sister-in-law's room, where she had just woken up.

His third sister-in-law said, "You little rascal, you're in such a hurry!"

Feng Zhigang chuckled and hugged her. This time, she cooperated, cupping his face and gently licking his lips with her tongue, circling it before licking his eyelids and nose, then slowly entering his mouth. Perhaps due to her experience with many men, she was skilled at kissing, even better than Zhang Guizhen. Her tongue was smooth and agile, intertwining and responding to Feng Zhigang's, making the young man's bones melt.

Zhigang was eager to enter, but his third sister-in-law wouldn't let him. To distract him, Third Sister-in-law asked, "When did you get these wicked thoughts, wanting to sleep with Third Sister-in-law?"

"I wanted to as soon as I saw you after I arrived. You don't know, I only slept with that woman for the first time two days before I came here. I just tasted a woman's flavor, so seeing how sexy you are, I wanted to sleep with you."

"You little pervert. In a few years, you'll be something else."

Feng Zhigang clearly sensed that Third Sister-in-law's reaction was very different from the previous night. She closed her eyes, fully indulging in pleasure. At first, it was soft moaning, just like what Feng Zhigang had heard outside the window that night; after a while, the moaning gradually grew louder, and her body began to twist, her lower body swaying from side to side, the more she swayed, the more comfortable it felt, and the louder the moaning became. After a while, she let out a soft "ah," and began to hum softly, the sound gradually increasing. Suddenly, she cried out, "Ah—!"

and tightly hugged the boy, an unstoppable climax arriving, lasting for a long time.

Feng Zhigang released his third sister-in-law and asked, "Third sister-in-law, I have a question for you, and you must answer honestly."

"Go ahead and ask."

"How many lovers do you have?"

"You little lecher. Why are you asking this?

" "Answer me."

"Alright, there's nothing to hide. I have two, plus you, three."

"Uncle Quanfa is one, right?"

"Everyone on the construction site knows this. You know how hard it is for us to come all the way to Shanghai to work; just surviving is a feat. Women who have had men miss their husbands even more than you men do." "

And they experience greater pleasure. Is that right?"

"I have no idea."

"Who's your other lover?"

"He's a foreman like Dazhi, he doesn't come often. He really likes me. If I hadn't met him when I first arrived in Shanghai, I would have died out there. He's always wanted me to work for him, but I refused."

"Why didn't you go?"

"If you like someone, you shouldn't be together every day. The less you're together, the more you'll like them."

"Do you like him?"

"Yes."

"Then why are you still with Uncle Quanfa?"

"Quanfa is like you, he raped me without my consent. Later, I needed a man anyway, so I got together with him."

"With so many men on the construction site who are constantly horny, didn't anyone else sleep with you?"

"Yes. But I can only have one lover. They raped me because they had nowhere else to vent, so I don't care, but I don't let them come again. Sometimes at night when the lights aren't on, I pretend I don't recognize who it is, and they pretend nothing happened. Sleeping with a woman that everyone knows and is close to you would be embarrassing if others found out, so very few people would come again. Sometimes I can't pretend to go over, but if I see who it is, I tell them I won't report them, and they shouldn't come again."

"Are you going to sue me or not?"

Third Sister-in-law looked at this cute little man, smiled, and said, "I'll sue you. I'll get you sentenced to a few years in prison, so you can't see any women and suffer. Or I'll tell your parents to make you marry me."

Feng Zhigang laughed and said, "If I marry you, what about Third Brother?"

"I'll bring Third Brother with me when I marry you."

"One woman marrying two husbands? You're not capable of that? I'll call Brother Quanfa over now, shall we try it?"

Third Sister-in-law poked Feng Zhigang's forehead with her index finger, laughing and scolding, "You little rascal, so naughty."

Chapter 014 Jing'er Arrives

Feng Zhigang became Third Sister-in-law's most frequent lover. He had a natural advantage, often being with Third Sister-in-law, and having a free period of time in the afternoon when he was at work, without anyone else to interfere. As long as he wasn't driving for Peng Dazhi, he was with Third Sister-in-law. Over time, Third Sister-in-law also became a little wary of him, advising him to do less of this, as it would harm his health, especially since he was still growing.

“I’m already this capable, why would I need to grow any more? I won’t. With you, I don’t need anything else.”

“How many women have you even seen? You fall for every one you see, what kind of future will you have? Remember, men aren’t meant to sleep with women, they’re meant to do great things. Sleeping with women is a man’s natural ability, it’s what he should do, nothing to brag about. And no one will call you a real man just because you’ve slept with a lot of women.”

Feng Zhigang felt a sense of déjà vu, as if Zhang Guizhen had said something similar.

He grinned and said, “I don’t have anything important to do right now, what should I do if I just want you?”

Third Sister-in-law became serious, sat up in bed, pointed towards the construction site outside the window and said, “There are dozens of people over there, more than a dozen of them have slept with me, most of them have been with prostitutes, but not a single man I truly admire, including Quanfa. They live for three things: making money, gambling, and sleeping with women. Trust Third Sister-in-law’s judgment, I think you have potential. You should start your own business in the future and achieve great things. Don’t let Third Sister-in-law down.”

The quilt slipped off Third Sister-in-law’s body, and her two full breasts bounced up and down. Feng Zhigang grabbed them, alternating between sucking on the two nipples, saying, "Third Sister-in-law, I'll listen to you."

However, this didn't last long. Peng Dazhi's assistant for Third Sister-in-law arrived—a girl named Jing'er, who looked about the same age as Feng Zhigang.

Jing'er's surname was Shu; she was a high school graduate, actually two years older than Feng Zhigang. She was as calm as a well, disliking to talk. When asked questions, she would nod, shake her head, or smile, revealing a deep dimple on her left cheek, as long as she didn't speak. Her skin was fair and delicate, not particularly beautiful, or rather, not strikingly gorgeous, but pleasing to the eye and easy on the eyes. Feng Zhigang thought, she seemed as deep as a well, unfathomable.

Jing'er was introduced by one of Peng Dazhi's business connections. When Dazhi handed her over to his third sister-in-law, he glanced meaningfully at the workers scattered around eating and instructed, "Third sister-in-law, take good care of her. These guys are all heartless wolves."

His third sister-in-law patted her chest and said, "Dazhi, don't worry, leave her to me, I guarantee the girl will grow up beautifully like a flower."

Jing'er was from Guizhou and had grown up in the countryside. She worked at a steady pace, not as fast or efficient as her third sister-in-law, but her efficiency was still quite good. This left Feng Zhigang idle, demoted from his third sister-in-law's assistant to Jing'er's, washing vegetables and emptying dirty water—basically, he lingered in the kitchen, unwilling to leave.

Jing'er lived and worked with his third sister-in-law, so Feng Zhigang had no chance to be intimate with her. His third sister-in-law knew he was itching inside, and seeing his feigned composure, she couldn't help but laugh.

Towards the end of the year, Peng Dazhi had even more work, and Feng Zhigang was almost always out driving. Following Peng Dazhi, especially during the year-end period, broadened his horizons considerably. He learned that the end of the year was the most difficult time for construction bosses. Most project payments are due by the end of the year. If the payments aren't fully settled, it won't be enough to cover the substantial costs of raw materials and workers' wages, making it difficult to get through the year-end. Wages alone are a significant amount, as migrant workers are paid in a lump sum at the end of the year, receiving only pocket money during the rest of the year. Their purpose in working is to earn money, and they are usually very frugal. Some have poor self-control and enjoy gambling, drinking, and prostitution. If they receive their full monthly wages, they will be penniless by the end of the year, having worked for nothing and potentially incurring debt. Previously, Peng Dazhi paid half of the wages each month. Later, to deal with a few spendthrift individuals, he made a contract with their families, stipulating that they would only receive a small allowance each month, no more. This tactic was very effective; those guys no longer got into trouble for drinking or prostitution, and Peng Dazhi had to go to the police station to pick them up. They focused their energy on their work, and their efficiency improved. Later still, all the workers and their families voluntarily requested to receive only a small allowance each month.

Feng Zhigang thought that Peng Dazhi really knew how to manage migrant workers. He really needed to learn from him.

He hadn't been able to be with his third sister-in-law during this time. He didn't get to go home until the 28th of the twelfth lunar month,

when he received his paycheck.

Although he hadn't been in Shanghai for long, Feng Zhigang's wages were higher than a laborer's, almost the same as a bricklayer's, so he brought 5,000 yuan home for the Spring Festival and gave it to his mother. His mother was very happy and said she would save the money for his wedding.

Feng Zhigang felt differently about the Spring Festival than usual; he felt very bored. His classmate Peng Fangyang had come to visit him a few times, and he had also met up with several other classmates he used to get along with. Peng Fangyang had been admitted to a junior college, while the others were scattered in different places working. When they got together, they either drank and boasted, or played mahjong and cards; there was nothing else to do. The twenty-odd days felt very long, and he felt it was harder to endure than the months he had spent in Shanghai.

Early on the sixteenth of the first lunar month, Feng Zhigang said goodbye to his parents and went to Pengjia Village, where Peng Dazhi had arranged to leave that day.

Upon seeing Peng Dazhi's wife, Zhang Guiling, he felt a surge of panic. The beautiful woman smiled demurely at him and greeted him, "Zhigang's here."

Feng Zhigang grunted in response and remained silent. Peng Dazhi was already prepared and waiting for Feng Zhigang. He held his one-year-old son, kissed him several times, and then reluctantly handed him to his wife.

Feng Zhigang started the car, and after Peng Dazhi was seated, he stepped on the gas and drove off. In the rearview mirror, he saw Zhang Guizhen holding the child, watching the car drive away. He thought, "This woman is obviously reluctant to part with Brother Dazhi, not with me. I'm probably just a passerby in her life, someone she'll gradually forget."

He felt a sense of loss, an emptiness in his heart, a melancholy and loneliness. If only he had a woman who truly belonged to him.

They arrived in Shanghai a few days earlier than the workers, and Peng Dazhi had a lot of preliminary work to do. Following him, Feng Zhigang learned a lot and felt that being busy like Brother Zhigang was interesting and fulfilling. He remembered what his third sister-in-law had said: "Men aren't meant to sleep with women; they're meant to do great things. Sleeping with women is a man's natural ability, it's what he should do, nothing to brag about. And no one will call you a real man just because you've slept with a lot of women."

He thought his third sister-in-law was right.

The workers arrived one after another, and his third sister-in-law came too. After a Spring Festival, everyone was rosy-cheeked from eating. Feng Zhigang knew that they weren't just eating well; they were also releasing all the loneliness and desires accumulated throughout the year. There wasn't much work these days, so there was a lot of time to brag, and most of the boasts were about how they satisfied their sexual frustrations. Uncle Quanfa said that he didn't go a day without sex, and he and his wife had sex every night, sometimes two or three times a night, making his wife complain that she couldn't take it anymore. He said to his wife, "I'll give you a good soaking, so you won't cheat on me during this drought."

Da Peng joked, "Useless. Even if you flood these few days, she'll still suffer from thirst for half a year. How about I go back in two months and visit her for you?"

Uncle Quanfa said, "Okay. I'll collect your salary at the end of the year."

Da Peng said, "That won't do. I'm helping your wife, which is also helping you, so she doesn't run off with another man. It's already a bargain if she doesn't ask you for money." Jing'er

hadn't arrived yet. Third Sister-in-law pinched Feng Zhigang's face and said, "Zhigang, come help me cook."

Feng Zhigang followed Third Sister-in-law into the kitchen and quietly asked her, "Third Sister-in-law, are you the same? Does Third Brother still come with you every day when you go back?"

Third Sister-in-law said, "Don't mention it. After your Third Brother broke his arm, it seems he can't do it anymore."

"How can he not? Can't he do it often?"

"No. He can't do it at all, he can't stand up. To tell you the truth, we haven't been able to do it even once these days."

"Oh. I read in a book that most men who can't get an erection are psychologically unstable, caused by a lack of self-confidence."

Third Sister-in-law sighed softly, "That's probably the reason. He always says he's useless, and he's ruining my life and the children's."

"Then you need to find a way to give him confidence; he can recover."

"How?"

"I don't know. I'll find some books to read, and I'll teach you when I find out."

Chapter 016 First Visit to a Hair Salon

Unexpectedly, Third Sister-in-law was actually quite horny during the holiday, just like him. Sun Zhigang knew there was another person horny, Da Peng. He and Sun Zhigang were the only two unmarried men on the construction site. Being unmarried wasn't the problem; the problem was sleeping with women without being married—that was truly unbearable. Sun Zhigang had slept with women, and of course, Da Peng had too.

Sun Zhigang knew many of Da Peng's secrets. He slept on the top bunk, often making the bed frame shake in the middle of the night. The next day, when Feng Zhigang asked him, he blushed and said he hadn't done anything, that it was just a dream. Later, one day, he discovered Da Peng secretly washing his underwear while others were napping, and realized that he had been taking care of himself at night.

Seeing that Zhigang knew, Dapeng didn't hide it from him, saying that most workers solved their problems this way.

"What else can you do? Really become prostitutes?"

Dapeng asked.

Zhigang thought so too; it was truly a last resort. With so many construction sites in Shanghai, how many migrant workers were there, both sexually frustrated and poorly educated? Even a small percentage committing crimes would be a huge threat to society. Fortunately, most of these migrant workers were honest and kind.

Zhigang asked Dapeng, "Do you think there's a way to solve the sexual frustration of so many migrant workers?"

"Yes! We've discussed this countless times. Just open a few more brothels near the construction sites."

"Prostitution? The police will come and arrest you."

Dapeng sighed, "Then there's no other way. Have you ever been to a brothel?"

"No. Have you?"

"Of course I have. How about I take you there tonight?"

Just a few minutes' walk from the construction site gate, there were several brothels side-by-side, their clients mainly being migrant workers. Dapeng led Zhigang straight into the shop with the "Wenzhou*" sign. The proprietress recognized Dapeng and warmly served them tea.

The air conditioning inside was blasting. Four or five young women, some quite attractive, sat in the living room, their breasts mostly exposed and their skirts so short you could see their underwear. Seeing Zhigang's embarrassment, Dapeng first picked a tall, slender girl, and the two went into a room together. The proprietress urged Zhigang to choose one, and he picked the younger but voluptuous girl. For some reason, he felt she looked familiar and familiar.

The girl led Zhigang into a room that was divided into several smaller, open cubicles. Zhigang could hear Dapeng and the tall man making noises in one of the cubicles. He followed the girl into a small cubicle with a single bed; there was barely enough space for one person to stand. The girl sat on the bed first, and then Zhigang could enter.

Zhigang had completely lost interest. He sat on the bed. The girl opposite him was fair-skinned, with an oval face and willow-leaf eyebrows; she was quite pretty and staring straight at him. He asked, "How old are you?"

"Sixteen."

"So young, why are you doing this kind of thing?"

"To earn money."

"You could work as a waitress in a restaurant, or cook on a construction site. There are many ways to earn money, why do you have to do this?"

"How much can I earn? This is quick money. My father is sick, and we don't have money for treatment. I need to earn a lot of money."

Feng Zhigang knew that saying his father or mother needed money for treatment was a common excuse used by prostitutes; he had heard it many times with Peng Dazhi in the karaoke bar. But could this voluptuous girl be telling the truth? It's impossible for everyone to be lying every time; he preferred to believe that what he heard this time was the truth. He began to feel sorry for her.

Unexpectedly, the young woman became impatient: "Are you going to do it or not? If not, I'm leaving. Don't delay my business."

Feng Zhigang stopped her, saying, "Okay, okay. How much do you want?"

"50."

Feng Zhigang pulled out a 100-yuan note: "Do you have change?"

"Yes.

" The woman pulled out a 50-yuan note from inside her bra and gave it to him, leaving him dumbfounded. The woman took off her underwear, revealing her lower body, and said, "Come on."

He completely lost his desire and said, "I'm not coming. You can leave."

The woman stared at him wide-eyed, not understanding why he wouldn't come. Everyone who came here had the same purpose, so what was wrong with this person?

Feng Zhigang didn't know why he didn't want to, not at all, and even felt a bit disgusted by being intimate with this woman, but not because he disliked her; on the contrary, he somewhat liked her, feeling a closeness to her like a younger sister.

The woman became impatient: "If you don't do it, you can't get your money back."

"No, you can leave."

The woman looked at him for a while, then silently put on her shorts and squeezed past him. She stood at the door for a moment, then turned back and gave Feng Zhigang a sweet smile, softly saying, "Thank you,"

before leaving.

Feng Zhigang walked out of the room; Da Peng had been waiting for quite some time. The young girl was sitting in her usual spot, waiting for her next customer. Feng Zhigang smiled at her, and she returned a sweet smile, making him feel welcome.

Walking out of the hair salon, Da Peng said, "How was it? The girls here are pretty good, aren't they?"

Zhigang didn't speak, just smiled. He hadn't expected this. Was it a problem with the environment, or a problem with his own abilities?

Chapter 017: A Rape Coming Out

Jing'er didn't arrive until the 23rd of the first lunar month. Guizhou was far away, and tickets were hard to get. Although she only arrived at the construction site at the end of the year, she hadn't been home for a year. She used to work as a receptionist at a company, but couldn't stand the boss's harassment, so she quit.

With Jing'er's arrival, Feng Zhigang suddenly realized why he hadn't taken the opportunity to get intimate with his third sister-in-law. Now, the chance was gone.

After breakfast, Feng Zhigang rode his tricycle, with his third sister-in-law on the back, to buy groceries together. When they were too busy, his third sister-in-law would call a vegetable vendor to deliver vegetables, but the delivered vegetables were never the best, at least not fresh enough.

They didn't go to the nearest small farmers' market, but instead rode for 20 minutes to the largest vegetable wholesale market nearby. The vegetables there were cheap, fresh, and had a wide variety. They bought a lot of vegetables today, so Zhigang rode while his third sister-in-law pushed them back to the construction site.

Before they even reached the kitchen door, his third sister-in-law shouted, "Jing'er—come quickly and help carry the vegetables!"

No one answered, and no one came out.

"Jing'er, what are you doing?"

Third Sister-in-law carried a sack of vegetables to the kitchen, then went into her and Jing'er's room.

"Ah—Jing'er, what's wrong?"

Feng Zhigang rushed in and saw Jing'er sitting on the bed, sobbing. Her shirt was haphazardly wrapped around her upper body, barely covering her breasts, and she was only wearing underwear. There was a pool of bright red blood and other liquids on the bed. Third Sister-in-law quickly dressed Jing'er and shouted angrily, "Which bastard did this?"

Third Sister-in-law ran to the door and shouted to those around her, "Which heartless bastard did such a heinous thing? May his ancestors for eight generations die a horrible death, and may his children be born without an anus..."

The gatekeeper ran over and asked, "What happened?"

Third Sister-in-law ignored him and continued to curse through her tears. The workers at the construction site also heard it and rushed over.

Feng Zhigang asked the gatekeeper, "Did any outsiders come in this morning?"

"No. Not a single person has come in today."

Foreman Peng Daqun, having ascertained the situation from Feng Zhigang, said, "Third Sister-in-law, stop scolding. Go in and keep Jing'er company."

Third Sister-in-law went inside. Peng Daqun said to Feng Zhigang, "Call Dazhi and tell him to come over quickly."

Peng Daqun told the workers, "Everyone, go back to work. Dazhi will come and handle this soon."

Only Peng Daqun and Feng Zhigang remained at the gate.

Daqun said, "It must have been one of our workers."

Feng Zhigang agreed with his assessment.

Third Sister-in-law cooked lunch later than usual. While they were eating, Dazhi arrived. His eyes blazed with anger as he glared at the workers sitting around eating, and he demanded sharply, "Who did it? Step forward!"

Everyone lowered their heads and ate. Da Zhi, left hand on his hip, said fiercely, "If I find out, I'll shoot him. You think you can get away with this? I'll give you five minutes. If you don't confess in five minutes, I'll call the police."

Everyone stopped eating, looking at each other, speculating in their hearts. Peng Da Zhi raised his wrist, staring at his watch. Five minutes seemed endlessly long. Suddenly, a bowl fell and shattered. A short, wretched-looking man stood up and knelt before Da Zhi with a thud: "I did it. I was foolish, I deserve to die. Da Zhi, spare my life!"

It was the bricklayer, Peng Xiao Si. Peng Da Zhi slapped him, knocking him to the ground.

"Get up!"

Peng Xiao Si got up and knelt properly. Peng Da Zhi slapped him again, leaving a bright red handprint on his face and blood trickling from his mouth.

Peng Da Zhi slapped him more than a dozen times, panting heavily, and asked, "Tell me, what should I do with you?"

Peng Xiao Si didn't speak, only kneeling with tears streaming down his face and blood streaming down his cheek.

"I'd beat you to death and still not be satisfied. Do you think that girl is like your old hag, someone anyone can sleep with? You've ruined her life."

Peng Dazhi really didn't know what to do. Time couldn't be turned back; Jing'er's virginity was gone, irreparable. What would happen to this girl? Who would take responsibility for her? It was

n't easy to deal with Peng Xiaosi either. The first question was whether to report it to the police. Even if they did, what good would it do?

Peng Xiaosi was already pitiful enough; his return for the Spring Festival had become a hot topic of discussion. His family was one of the poorest in Pengjia Village. Thirty years ago, during the winter off-season, his father participated in water conservancy construction, digging an artificial river that ran across the province. He was run over by an out-of-control dump truck, breaking both his legs and becoming bedridden. His mother died a few years ago from overwork. Of the three brothers, only he had a wife, whom he bought from Sichuan. His sister was married, and his two brothers were notorious bachelors in the village. They didn't want to farm properly at home, and they couldn't earn money outside. They couldn't even find good jobs, and no construction sites would hire them. They would return to the village and cause trouble everywhere. When Xiao Si went out to work, his wife became the wife of his two older brothers. Xiao Si knew this, but there was nothing he could do. His two brothers didn't treat his wife well either, only using her as a tool for their sexual gratification. Once, the third brother lost money gambling and brought his creditor home, sleeping with Xiao Si's wife for one night to pay off his debts. When he returned home for the Spring Festival this year, Peng Xiao Si discovered his wife had run away, reportedly with human traffickers. She would rather be sold to a poor old farmer in a remote area than serve her three brothers anymore.

What troubled Peng Da Zhi was that no matter what he did, even the simplest solution—leaving him off the construction site—he had no way to survive.

Peng Da Zhi told his third sister-in-law to watch over Jing'er and not leave her side. He dared not leave the construction site either. Not long after starting work in the afternoon, Peng Da Qun ran over and said, "Da Zhi, Xiao Si fell from the scaffolding."

Da Zhi was shocked: "Dead?"

"Dead."

Chapter 018 Temporary Couple

. A death on the construction site is a serious safety accident. The police came, took photos, investigated for a long time, and then took Peng Da Zhi to the station for questioning for half a day.

Peng Dazhi's contracting qualifications were also questioned, and the production safety department came to investigate.

The most difficult situation was with Peng Xiaosi's family; his two older brothers had arrived and were staying at the construction site demanding an explanation. They were carrying iron bars and trying to smash the machinery, but were restrained by a group of strong men. Their demands were actually quite simple: compensation. Peng Dazhi was willing to pay, but he was most afraid they would ask to work on the construction site. The negotiation resulted in Peng Dazhi paying 80,000 yuan in compensation.

It was rumored that Peng Xiaosi might have committed suicide because his affair was exposed, so the police called Jing'er in for further questioning. Feng Zhigang and his third sister-in-law took turns staying with Jing'er, fearing something else might happen to her.

These past few days, his third sister-in-law hadn't gone to buy groceries, instead having Peng Jiafang, a vegetable vendor, deliver them. Peng Jiafang was also from Pengjia Village, in her thirties, with a captivatingly beautiful face and alluring almond-shaped eyes that were irresistible to any man. Hearing about Jing'er's plight, Peng Jiafang sighed and said, "Alas! That Peng Xiaosi is too stupid, he's ruining others and himself. It's easy for him to sleep with women, I'll help him find one."

Third Sister-in-law said, "You'll help him find one? With his conditions, who would want to be with him?"

"Do you think I'm a matchmaker? Conditions?"

Jiafang lowered her voice and said, "As long as there's money. Retail prices are high, wholesale prices are cheap."

"What wholesale and retail?"

Seeing Third Sister-in-law's confusion, Peng Jiafang smiled and said, "I'm used to saying this when I sell vegetables. Let me put it this way, ask the workers with better conditions if they'd be willing to find a temporary partner, rent a place together, and live together, it's so nice to have someone to care for you."

Third Sister-in-law's eyes widened and asked, "Is that even possible?"

"What's so strange about that? There are many women selling vegetables around here, their men aren't around, they're all thirsty. Finding someone trustworthy for a temporary stay is better than getting a sexually transmitted disease from messing around outside. It's also being responsible to her husband."

Feng Zhigang interjected, "Is this what you call being responsible to a man?"

"Do you think their men are honest outside? They all know in their hearts that men can't be controlled if they're out outside for a long time. They can only hope that they won't do anything wrong, and even more so, that they won't spend money recklessly."

Zhigang knew her husband sold vegetables in Beijing, and his business was quite successful. He asked her, "Does your husband have other women?"

"Who cares? Whatever."

"Then why don't you find one?"

Jiafang winked at him and said with a smile, "Do you think I lack men? That's too picky. I'm very selective."

Third Sister-in-law slapped her and said, "Don't seduce young men, you'll corrupt them."

"Oh! So this pretty boy is Third Sister-in-law's lover, then I wouldn't dare to seduce him. " Third Sister-in-law

slapped her again: "Don't talk nonsense."

Feng Zhigang blushed, and Jiafang was even more persistent: "Look, his face is red, and he still won't admit it? " Third Sister-in-law

spat at her and said, "So what if he is? You want to steal him?" "

This young man is quite handsome. If it were someone else, I would definitely steal him, but I wouldn't dare to steal yours."

Feng Zhigang heard them talking more and more outrageously, so he quickly went to the kitchen to find something to do.

Third Sister-in-law really took it upon herself to act as a matchmaker, and soon a couple was successfully matched. Feng Zhigang hadn't expected that Third Sister-in-law was so clever. She rented a room in a nearby farmhouse and sublet it to this temporary couple, making a small profit on the difference.

Third Sister-in-law then rented another room. She didn't sublet this one; she kept it. Anyone who temporarily found a partner would ask Third Sister-in-law for the key and pay a small rent. She earned even more from this room.

Feng Zhigang warned, "Third Sister-in-law, there might be risks in what you're doing."

"What risks? I'm just doing a good deed, preventing them from going out and looking for women randomly, and even more so, from doing anything immoral."

"Look on the bright side, you're doing a good deed. But look on the dark side, you're breaking the law. Do you understand?"

"It's consensual, not a transaction, so how is it illegal?"

"Can you guarantee that those renting the room aren't in a transactional relationship? What if they bring prostitutes there? Would you know?"

"I don't know, and the police don't know either. What are the chances of that happening?"

Chapter 019: The crackdown on prostitution

didn't last long, and sure enough, something happened.

The one who got into trouble was Da Peng. He brought a prostitute out of the brothel, got the key from his third sister-in-law, and was arrested by the police in the middle of the night. Upon questioning, it turned out the prostitute worked there; the two weren't husband and wife, nor lovers. Sorry, prostitution. His workplace should come and pick him up. The police were originally checking for migrant workers living in shared apartments, but Da Peng was unlucky enough to stumble upon it.

The police asked Da Peng about the apartment, and he said it was rented. A few questions later, they found out about his third sister-in-law. Several policemen came and took her away as well.

Da Zhi had business in the city and couldn't leave, so he called back and asked Feng Zhigang to go to the police station to pay the fine and pick up his son, asking him to find a policeman surnamed Zheng.

Feng Zhigang went to the town police station, where Officer Zheng was waiting for him.

"Is Peng Da Peng from your construction team?"

Officer Zheng asked.

"Yes."

"What does he do for your construction team?"

"Plumber/electrician."

"And Chen Lanhua?"

"Yes."

Chen Lanhua was his third sister-in-law.

"Peng Dapeng is suspected of soliciting prostitution, and Chen Lanhua is suspected of harboring prostitutes, you know that, right?"

"Yes, yes. Officer Zheng, we'll definitely give them a good talking-to when we get back, and we promise this will never happen again."

"You can guarantee that?"

Officer Zheng said with a smile, "Who can guarantee that?"

"Yes, yes."

Feng Zhigang didn't know what to say.

"Sign here and take them back. You promised me that it would never happen again. If it happens again, I'll arrest your boss."

Zhigang thought Officer Zheng was quite kind, and his accent sounded a bit like Wang Qianghui's, so they were probably from the same hometown. He boldly asked, "Officer Zheng, may I ask if you're also from Anhui?"

Officer Zheng smiled and said, "Of course, I'm from Bengbu. Would I let you off so easily if we weren't from the same hometown?"

Back at the construction site, Peng Dazhi also returned. He scolded his third sister-in-law and Dapeng, and then said, "Zhigang, you drive, we'll treat Officer Zheng to dinner."

They went to the Tianyi Hotel in the town center, where Officer Zheng and another policeman were already waiting in a private room.

"Let me introduce you,"

Officer Zheng stood up, pointing to another officer, "This is Chief Zhang of our station."

He then pointed to Peng Dazhi and introduced him, "Chief, this is Manager Peng, my comrade-in-arms."

Peng Dazhi and Chief Zhang shook hands warmly, with Peng saying repeatedly, "Chief Zhang, thank you very much, I'm sorry to have troubled you."

Chief Zhang said, "It's nothing. We deal with this kind of trouble every day, we're used to it."

All three were former soldiers, with forthright personalities. They cut a bottle of Moutai into three pieces and finished it off in a few rounds. Dazhi opened another bottle of Moutai, also cutting it into three pieces.

As the drinks flowed, Dazhi asked, "Chief, there's something I don't understand, I'd like to ask you."

"Go ahead."

"You're always cracking down on prostitution, but why are there more and more? You know that brothels are all places of prostitution, why can't you shut them down? Is it inaction, or intentional inaction?"

Chief Zhang smiled at Officer Zheng, but didn't speak. Officer Zheng said, "I'll answer you, but don't say I told you, or you'll deny it once you leave."

Da Zhi said, "Go ahead, go ahead."

"There are so many construction sites in Shanghai, there must be at least several million migrant workers, right?"

"Of course."

"With so many migrant workers, how do they solve their sex lives?"

"Who cares, they can solve it however they want."

"Of course we don't care about them. But we have to deal with the consequences of their unresolved sex problems. That's the biggest hidden danger."

Da Zhi understood. Feng Zhigang had a sudden thought.

Chapter 020 Migrant Workers' Home (1)

Back at the construction site, Zhigang couldn't wait to find his third sister-in-law and said, "Third sister-in-law, I have an idea that allows you to continue being a sub-landlord without the police coming to arrest you."

"Tell me quickly."

"Among us migrant workers, there are some couples who are both in Shanghai, right?"

"Yes."

"It's just that it's hard for the couples to live together, right?"

"Yes. There are a few people in our construction team whose wives either sell vegetables or work in toy factories. They can't afford to rent a house, so the couples do it like they're having an affair, finding a corner on the construction site to do 'that'."

"Some of their family members come to visit, but they don't have a place to stay either."

"Yes. Dazhi gave up his room, but it's not soundproof. Many people next door and outside are eager to watch and listen to the excitement, almost like a live broadcast. Who can enjoy it? It's good enough if they don't become impotent."

"There are a few factories outside the village near the construction site, you know them, right?"

"Yes, those used to be village-run factories, like hardware factories and grain processing factories, but they've closed down now."

“We need Dazhi’s cooperation on this. We’ll rent those factory buildings under the name of the construction team.”

Third Sister’s eyes lit up: “That’s right. Those are abandoned factory buildings, the rent will definitely be cheaper.”

“We’ll convert them into single rooms, do some simple renovations, manage them uniformly, and rent them to these couples. The price will be so low they’ll be very willing to accept it. I’ve even come up with a name: ‘Migrant Workers’ Home.’” “But, our team only has a few couples in Shanghai, and only a handful come to visit each year. Will there be many renters?”

“We’re not just offering to our own construction teams; we’re open to all construction sites. Look at how many construction sites there are around here. I estimate that for at least five years, the number of construction sites will only increase, not decrease.”

“Will it work? Won’t the police stop interfering?”

“As long as we manage it properly and don’t let any random outsiders in, we’re actually helping the police. They’ll be happy to do that. For example, we’ll stipulate that migrant workers must have proof of employment from the site manager. That will put the police at ease.”

“Then temporary couples can’t stay?”

“Who checks their marriage certificate? We only recognize the site manager’s signature. As long as we keep a close watch and don’t let prostitutes in, the police won’t arrest them.”

“Is Dazhi willing?”

“I’ll talk to him.”

Feng Zhigang went into Dazhi’s room and explained his ideas in detail again. Dazhi thought for a moment and said, “You’ve given me an idea. If we can resolve these issues, not only will bad things turn into good things, but it will also bring honor to our engineering team and even become a model and example for migrant worker management in Shanghai. That way, our engineering team will have more weight, and it will be easier for us to get projects.”

“Yes. You’ve thought ahead.”

Dazhi said, “Let’s do it this way. You’re a high school student, so write a detailed operational plan, including how to rent a factory, how to renovate it, how much it will cost, how to recruit tenants, and how to manage it. Write it down and give it to me. We’ll make this a practical thing for migrant workers, a good image project for the engineering team, and a new business channel.”

Chapter 021 Migrant Workers’ Home (2)

Feng Zhigang went to the village chief to talk about renting a factory. The village chief was very supportive, only reminding him to maintain good relations with the local villagers and not to affect their lives.

On behalf of Dazhi, Zhigang signed a 10-year contract with the village at an extremely low price to rent a factory building. They immediately established a "Migrant Workers' Home Preparatory Group," with Peng Dazhi as the group leader, Feng Zhigang as the deputy leader, and only one member: Third Sister-in-law. Third Sister-in-law requested that Dazhi also transfer Jing'er over, and Dazhi readily agreed, since Jing'er wasn't very good at cooking and they needed to find someone else to cook.

Dazhi treated this as a business deal, covering the expenses himself and giving Zhigang and Third Sister-in-law each 10% of the shares, which would be used to register the company when it was established. Dazhi's position as group leader was merely nominal; Zhigang was responsible for everything, working with Third Sister-in-law and Jing'er to implement the plans. From design, renovation, and decoration to completion, it took five months, and all three of them lost weight.

While preparing for the celebration, Dazhi asked Zhigang, "Do you think we should name our migrant workers' home?"

"Brother Dazhi, I've got it! Let's call it 'Neighboring Village Migrant Workers' Home,' what do you think?"

Dazhi pondered, "'Neighboring Village Migrant Workers' Home'...is there any significance to it?" "

I was thinking, if we consider our construction site as a village, then the owners of the 'Migrant Workers' Home' are our neighboring village. We've brought our village to the city, and the construction site represents the hometown of migrant workers, bringing our rural culture to the city, where it clashes and blends with urban culture. Our hometown and Shanghai are also neighboring villages. This vividly reflects the ambiguous relationship between migrant workers and the city, and also foreshadows the future development trend of this relationship. What do you think of this idea?"

"Great! Zhigang, you're so clever!"

Dazhi joked happily with Zhigang.

Dazhi registered two companies immediately, using the name of his neighboring village: Shanghai Neighboring Village Migrant Workers' Home Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Neighboring Village Construction and Decoration Co., Ltd. He used to be just a contractor, taking projects under other companies; now he owned his own company.

The opening ceremony of the "Neighbor Village Migrant Workers' Home" was a grand affair. Dazhi invited several high-ranking officials, including village and town party and government leaders, leaders from urban construction, planning, and supervision departments, construction company leaders, and site managers. The media also reported on it under the headline "Migrant Workers from Other Places Now Have Their Own Home." The Neighbor Village Migrant Workers' Home and the Neighbor Village Construction Company simultaneously gained fame in Shanghai.

Zhigang served as the manager of the Neighbor Village Migrant Workers' Home, Sansao was the deputy manager, and Jing'er handled administration; the three worked well together. As the number of residents increased, they hired a plumber, an electrician, and a cleaner/cook.

Jing'er had largely recovered, at least on the surface. She remained quiet but worked methodically. Dazhi approved the purchase of two computers, one for Zhigang and one for Jing'er.

Jing'er, having worked as an administrative receptionist, knew how to use a computer and installed it according to the instructions. Dazhi didn't know how to use it and said, "Jing'er, teach me how to use a computer."

Jing'er asked, "Do you know Pinyin?"

"Yes."

"Then let's learn by typing with Pinyin."

Jing'er brought out printed rules and regulations, employee lists, room usage tables, and other materials, and taught Zhigang how to type them into the computer. She then helped him create a folder to store the lists and tables.

The two sat close together, Jing'er tilting her head, her breath sweet and fragrant, a faint scent that tickled Zhigang's face. Zhigang couldn't help but feel a surge of desire, almost losing control. He restrained himself, not daring to have any impure thoughts. Jing'er was a pure girl, hurt before; he couldn't hurt her again.

"Zhigang."

His third sister-in-law's voice preceded her arrival. "What am I supposed to do with these two?"

Zhigang looked up and asked, "Who are they?"

"The plumber and the cleaner. The power switch is broken and they can't find anyone. The sanitation is terrible everywhere. They disappear and reappear together, like dry wood meeting a raging fire—they're definitely up to something shady."

The plumber, Xiao Zhao, was hired from the construction site. He was originally just a junior high school graduate, but thanks to his quick wit, he learned some plumbing and electrical skills from his master. He had too many farmer habits—undisciplined and disregarding rules. The cleaner was a 40-year-old woman from out of town who applied for the job herself. The two became inseparable as soon as they arrived, which Zhigang could tell.

"Third sister-in-law, whatever they do, as long as it doesn't affect the work, we won't interfere. But if it does, you should talk to them properly. Farmers are hard to manage anyway. However, if talking to them doesn't work, then fire them."

"I talk to them every day, but it's useless."

"Then fire them, no questions asked."

Third sister-in-law sat down at her seat, still feeling indignant, breathing heavily.

Zhigang saw a letter in his third sister-in-law's hand and asked, "Third sister-in-law, what are you holding?"

"Oh, I forgot. This was brought by Secretary Wang from the town government. He said we need to send someone to a training course."

Zhigang opened the envelope, read it, and said to his third sister-in-law, "This is a notice from the district government about a human resources training course. Newly registered companies within the past year are required to send someone to attend."

His third sister-in-law asked, "Is it free?"

The company fax machine receives these kinds of notices every day, all for expensive training courses, hence her question.

"The notice says it's a government service project, free of charge."

"Even if it's free, going is a waste of time. But if we don't go, will the government cause us trouble?"

Zhigang smiled, "Third sister-in-law, you seem to have graduated from junior high school, right?"

"Yes. My grades were excellent, but my parents wouldn't let me go to high school, so I got married." "

Junior high school students are capable of learning. Third sister-in-law, even if it costs money, you should attend this class, let alone since it's free. I'll go this time, and next time it'll be your turn."

Chapter 022 Neighboring Village Model

Early Saturday morning, Feng Zhigang arrived at the district party school's teaching site. As he searched for a classroom, he bumped into a tall, beautiful woman with long hair.

"Shi Yuqin?"

"Feng Zhigang!"

It was Shi Yuqin, his classmate from driving school.

Feng Zhigang asked, "Are you also attending this human resources training course?"

"Yes. But I'm not learning; I'm giving lectures."

Zhigang remembered she was a human resources manager at a foreign company. It seemed she had some reputation in the industry.

In Shi Yuqin's memory, Feng Zhigang was just a driver for his boss; she never expected him to be studying human resources management.

"You're not a driver anymore?"

"No." "

Then what do you do now?"

Shi Yuqin admired Feng Zhigang's intelligence and quick wit at driving school, but she couldn't believe this high school student would become her colleague so quickly.

“I partnered with my boss to start a ‘Migrant Workers’ Home.’”

“The one that was reported in the media, the pioneering ‘Migrant Workers’ Home’?”

“Yes. That’s it.”

“The founder of the ‘Migrant Workers’ Home’ mentioned in the report, Peng Dazhi, is that your boss?”

“Yes.”

“Starting this ‘Migrant Workers’ Home’ must have been your idea, right?”

“Yes.”

Shi Yuqin gave a thumbs up: “Awesome. Do you know how awesome you are?”

“Awesome? I really didn’t know.”

“I’m going to use the ‘Migrant Workers’ Home’ as a case study and analyze it in detail in class. Your presence is perfect; you can share your experience.”

“This can be a case study? Does it have anything to do with human resources?”

“Of course it does. You’ll see when you hear it.”

The bell rang, and Feng Zhigang quickly ran into the classroom and found a seat at the back. Shi Yuqin walked onto the podium. Her composed and confident demeanor, coupled with her tall and full figure, beautiful big eyes, and oval face, immediately inspired Feng Zhigang to trust and look up to her.

"Students, the definition of human resource management is in the lecture notes, so I won't go into it. It's easy for you to memorize it, but truly understanding human resource management is not. I dare say, not every human resource manager can truly grasp its essence."

Shi Yuqin's words were startling, immediately capturing the students' attention. It seems she lectures frequently and is quite skilled at it.

"Simply put, human resource management is about retaining people, making good use of people, and, on a higher level, attracting people. Achieving this is extremely difficult. An HR manager can learn all the methods and techniques, but may not necessarily be able to retain, utilize, or attract people. Why? Because all the methods and techniques are merely the external aspects of human resource management, not its core."

Shi Yuqin paused, surveying the classroom, observing the students' reactions, and enjoying the feeling of all eyes eagerly fixed on her. "Today I'll present a case study. Through this case study, we will vividly understand what true human resource management is, its core, and its highest level. However, before presenting the case study, I'd like to ask you to get to know someone."

Shi Yuqin said to Feng Zhigang in the back row, "Feng Zhigang, please stand up and introduce yourself to everyone."

All eyes turned to the back row. Caught off guard, Feng Zhigang stood up, blushing and bewildered.

"Classmates, this is the creator of the case study I'm about to present, Feng Zhigang. I'm sorry, I don't know your current position yet—manager of 'Migrant Workers' Home' or something else."

A burst of applause filled the classroom.

"Feng Zhigang, please sit down. I want everyone, including yourself, to know how remarkable what you've done is. Even I, with a Master's degree in Human Resource Management and over a decade of experience in the field, admire it."

Shi Yuqin explained the "Migrant Workers' Home" case in her own way, then said, "Human resource management is part of corporate management, and therefore also part of corporate culture. Its highest level is to grasp and influence the state of human resources at the height and level of culture, so that all skills and methods can play their maximum role. However, this case has transcended the scope of a company, but from the broader concept of a city, it still falls within the scope of human resources. We can..." The city is compared to a company and migrant workers are regarded as company employees. 'Migrant Workers' Home' is based on the level of migrant workers' culture and urban development culture, and meets or even exceeds the city's current management demands and expected requirements for migrant workers. 'Migrant Workers' Home' not only integrates into the city's culture, but also enriches the city's culture.

Seeing that everyone was blinking and confused, Shi Yuqin said: "To put it simply and specifically, how to manage migrant workers?" There are millions of migrant workers in Shanghai. If they are not managed well, a mass incident will cause endless harm. But what mechanism do you have or how many people do you have to watch them? Can't even look at it. What to do? Use culture to serve them, influence them, and integrate them. 'Migrant Workers' Home' is a pioneering attempt to do just that. "

Maybe Feng Zhigang himself doesn't understand the significance of doing this. Because of this, his understanding and sensitivity are even more admirable."

"Do you understand now what human resource management is?" It is not about supervising employees' work, or using authority to simply assign people to which positions, but to create an atmosphere in which people will involuntarily and willingly do things that meet the requirements of the company. "

Feng Yugang still doesn't understand. However, after Shi Yuqin talked about many specific aspects of human resource management the next day, he began to understand.

Chapter 23 :

The training course on Third Sister-in-Law's Heart was only two days long over the weekend, and Feng Zhigang felt he gained a lot, realizing there was so much to learn.

On Monday at work, Zhigang said to his third sister-in-law, "You and Jing'er must go to learn this. You'll only know the difference once you learn. I asked around, and there are free training courses like this every month."

His third sister-in-law said, "Let Jing'er go. I can't concentrate on learning anymore."

"That won't do. Jing'er can specialize a bit, focusing on administration and human resources. You and I both need to know everything. Business management, marketing management, financial management, and even economic principles, etc. Even if you only know a little bit, it will help in managing a company."

"By the way, there's something I need to discuss with you. I've fired Xiao Zhao and the cleaner, and I need to find two more people."

"Go ahead and look. Do you have any candidates?"

"I'm thinking of transferring Dapeng over. What do you think?"

"Dapeng is a key technical worker, and the construction site can't do without him. I'm just afraid Dazhi won't agree."

"Talk to Dazhi. If it really doesn't work out, have him work both sides for now. Anyway, we don't have much work here."

"That's good. What about the cleaner?"

"Jiafang came over yesterday and said her cousin could do it."

"Okay. Let her come."

Peng Jiafang received the call and brought her cousin over. Her cousin's name was Jiang Hongyan, from Jiangjia Village, which was also the village where her third sister-in-law's husband lived. Jiang Hongyan wasn't tall, probably less than 1.6 meters, but she had a well-proportioned figure and a full bust. It's rare for rural girls to have underdeveloped breasts; perhaps it's related to eating coarse grains and frequent physical labor. She had almond-shaped eyes like her cousin, a round face, and a sweet, adorable smile, unlike her cousin who was more flirtatious.

Her third sister-in-law sized up Jiang Hongyan and asked, "How old are you?"

"Eighteen,"

her third sister-in-law said to Jiafang. "I haven't been married into Jiangjia Village long since I came out to work, so I've never seen this girl before."

Hongyan smiled sweetly and said, "Third Sister-in-law, I've seen you before. You were so beautiful at your wedding. I was little then, and when we played house, I dressed up like you as the bride."

Third Sister-in-law joked, "Little girl, you don't know how to talk. Are you saying Third Sister-in-law isn't pretty now?"

"No, no. The men in the village all say you're becoming more and more feminine."

Rural men never hide their opinions about women, so Hongyan could hear them. Hongyan didn't mention the main point of their discussion, but it was that her man wasn't good enough, and she was becoming more and more feminine; it was impossible for her to be without a man's attention, and it certainly wasn't just one man. She didn't know who they were. Third Sister-in-law could guess what they were talking about.

Hongyan went out to work, and Third Sister-in-law said to Jiafang, "Your cousin looks like she's still a virgin, never been with a man.

Aren't you afraid she'll be ruined here?" "How can she become a woman without being ruined? It'll happen sooner or later. Just keep an eye on your little lover, don't let him do it and make you jealous."

"Jealous about what? I know you miss him, you can have him."

"Really? Then I won't be polite."

"Really."

"I know you know what's going on, he doesn't like someone like me, he only likes someone like you."

"You're the harlot."

After seeing Jiafang off, Third Sister-in-law really had something on her mind. When she was in school, she was more outgoing than her female classmates, and her grades were also among the best, ranking first among the girls. In her junior high graduation exam, her scores were high enough to get into the town's high school, but her parents didn't agree to her going. Rural girls start school late, and she was already 18 that year, the legal marriage age, so her parents arranged for her to marry Jiang Sange from the neighboring village, with whom she was already engaged. She gave birth to a daughter the following year. When her daughter was 5 years old, she went out to work. People all thought she was in her thirties because she never dressed up when cooking; in reality, she was 29.

Third Sister-in-law's concern wasn't that Zhigang would ruin Hongyan. She liked Zhigang, finding in him a competence and rationality lacking in rural people—ideas, courage, and a promising future. This was something she shared with Zhigang, hence their affinity. From the moment she met him, a strange tenderness arose within her, though not entirely romantic love. She was ten years older than Zhigang, and even if there was love, it would be difficult to make it last, especially since she didn't want to leave Third Brother. She was already content to be his lover. Her biggest concern was that Zhigang should find his own happiness.

Third Sister-in-law had originally wanted to matchmake Zhigang and Jing'er, but Jing'er had lost her virginity, and she feared Zhigang wouldn't be interested in her anymore. This Jiang Hongyan seemed quite suitable; she was beautiful, lively, and unlike her cousin, she wasn't promiscuous.

Chapter 24: Matchmaking

. During dinner, Third Sister-in-law glanced at Zhigang, and he understood immediately. They now shared a tacit understanding; a single glance was enough for them to know each other's meaning. Today, there was a tenderness in Third Sister-in-law's eyes; she wanted him that night. Things

were much more convenient now; Zhigang had a room to

himself, but for some reason, he and Third Sister-in-law didn't spend much time together. Their last intimate encounter was half a month ago. Third Sister-in-law waited until Jing'er fell asleep before secretly getting up. For some reason, she didn't want Jing'er to see her and Zhigang's affair, even though she knew Jing'er was perfectly aware of it.

Zhigang had left the door open for her, and it opened gently. Zhigang was sitting on the bed reading a book. She took the book away and kissed him.

Zhigang loved Third Sister-in-law's kisses. She kissed every inch of his body, and he kissed her in return. Third Sister-in-law had trained Zhigang into a master of sex; she only penetrated him when he was aroused to the point of extreme pleasure and desire, leaving her in a state of blissful ecstasy.

Touching Zhigang's pectoral muscles, Third Sister-in-law felt that Zhigang was much stronger than when he first arrived, increasingly exuding the aura of a mature man, and the feeling in bed was becoming more and more enjoyable. She was now only infatuated with Zhigang's body, and had almost completely stopped contacting Uncle Quanfa, and hadn't been in touch with the foreman for a long time either. Uncle Quanfa was now even more inconvenient than before, and he also sensed that Third Sister-in-law's enthusiasm was not as great as before. He already had a sense of inferiority, so naturally he came less often. However, if he came, Third Sister-in-law would still cooperate if given the opportunity.

Third Sister-in-law kissed Zhigang's breast and said, "Zhigang."

"Hmm?"

"You should find a girlfriend."

Zhigang also kissed Third Sister-in-law's breast: "Aren't you one?"

"I mean, someone to marry."

"That's not urgent."

"You should start thinking about it, you're not young anymore. A man needs a woman to understand and support him in his career."

Zhigang fell silent. Third Sister-in-law said, "What do you think of the new girl, Jiang Hongyan? If she's suitable, I'll introduce you."

"Third Sister-in-law, you don't want me anymore, do you?"

"No. I'm just thinking of you."

"If I have a woman, I can't see you anymore. What will you do?"

"That's easy, I'll find another lover just like you."

"I won't allow you to find one."

"Okay, then marry me."

"Don't force me, or I'll really marry you."...

Third Sister-in-law never expected that in less than a month, Jiang Hongyan would be sleeping with Dapeng.

She first noticed that Hongyan's complexion had been particularly radiant these past few days, fair with a rosy glow, and her breasts were fuller, as if they couldn't hold up her clothes, indicating she was no longer a virgin. She suspected Zhigang was behind it; only he had the means and the guts. That day, while inspecting the house, she opened a room that was to be occupied the next day and found Dapeng and Hongyan naked, passionately making love on the bed. The young woman, facing the door, saw Third Sister-in-law enter, screamed, and pushed Dapeng off her.

Da Peng turned around and saw it was his third sister-in-law. A little annoyed, he said, "Third sister-in-law, what are you doing?"

His third sister-in-law said disapprovingly, "What are you doing? This is working hours. You two get dressed and come to the office."

She turned and left, waiting for them in the office.

The two of them pushed and shoved their way in. His third sister-in-law asked, "Do you want to work here anymore?"

Da Peng said, "Third sister-in-law, you won't fire us because of this, will you?"

"For this, I should fire you. Do you understand?"

"Third sister-in-law, please be merciful. I won't

work here next time." Hong Yan also smiled sweetly and said, "Third sister-in-law, I promise I'll work hard from now on and won't do anything else."

"Are you two planning to get married?"

Da Peng and Hong Yan looked at each other. Da Peng said, "Third Sister-in-law, don't ask so many questions. I'll definitely invite you to the wedding when it's time to get married."

"Hmph! I don't think you two really want to get married. Hongyan, you were born a virgin, and you gave yourself to that bastard Da Peng. Isn't that a waste?"

Hongyan blushed, twisted her body, and whispered, "A woman has to have this day eventually, it doesn't matter who she gives it to."

Third Sister-in-law knew that Jia Fang had taught her this, and said, "A woman will have this day sooner or later, but you should give it to someone you deserve, someone you like. Do you like Da Peng? You didn't even want to marry him, but you gave him everything."

Hongyan fell silent. Third Sister-in-law waved her hand: "Alright, I won't argue with you anymore. You can decide for yourselves, good or bad. Remember, there will absolutely be no next time. You can go now."

The two walked out. Jing'er kept typing on the side, without even looking up.

Chapter 025 Hongyan Resigns

Under Zhi Gang's repeated insistence, Third Sister-in-law finally agreed to go to human resources training with Jing'er. After lunch on Saturday, Third Sister-in-law said to Jing'er, "Jing'er, I have an urgent matter to attend to this afternoon. You can stay here and listen to the lesson."

Jing'er nodded without asking what it was about.

Third Sister-in-law knew that Hongyan was no simple girl, and had been secretly watching her movements for the past few days. Yesterday afternoon, she discovered that Dapeng and Hongyan were whispering to each other, so Third Sister-in-law rushed back at noon today to catch them in the act. It wasn't that she was meddling, but she wouldn't allow them to do this in broad daylight at the migrant workers' shelter; it was a matter of the company's image.

Hongyan didn't live at the migrant workers' shelter; she lived on the construction site with Fifth Aunt, who was currently cooking, and her assistant. There was nowhere for her and Dapeng to work on the construction site, so they would definitely think it would be convenient for them to do so at the migrant workers' shelter. Today, Third Sister-in-law wasn't home, so it was the perfect opportunity.

Third Sister-in-law returned to her office, picked up her key, and quietly went to listen outside several rooms that weren't rented out. She identified a room, gently inserted the key into the lock, and slowly opened the door a crack. From inside came the heavy breathing of a man and Hongyan's shrill screams—Third Sister-in-law was already familiar with the girl's screams during sex.

After listening for a while, Third Sister-in-law suddenly pushed the door open and shouted, "You adulterous couple, I've caught you again!"

The man on top trembled, collapsed onto Hongyan, and buried his head in the pillow, refusing to get up. Hongyan was pinned down and couldn't get up, nor could she push him away. Third Sister-in-law saw that his back didn't resemble Dapeng; he was taller and stronger than Dapeng. She went over, grabbed his hair, and turned him around. It turned out to be Uncle Quanfa.

Uncle Quanfa was so ashamed that his face turned red. He quickly got up, dressed, and fled in panic. Third Sister-in-law turned and went back to her office.

A little while later, Hongyan came in, still tidying her clothes. Third Sister-in-law glared at her: "What else do you have to say?"

Hongyan still smiled sweetly and said, "Third Sister-in-law, I know I shouldn't have done it, I'll resign."

"You're smart enough. That thing is on your body, I can't control who you sleep with, but you can't do it here in broad daylight. I run a migrant workers' home, not a brothel."

Hongyan stopped smiling: "Third Sister-in-law, don't say such unpleasant things. Haven't you slept with a lot of men too?"

"No matter how many men I sleep with, it's not selling myself, I don't want a penny. Do you dare say you don't want money?"

Seeing that Hongyan was silent, Third Sister-in-law asked again: "How much did you charge him?"

"50."

"Pretty cheap, a bargain. How much did Dapeng get?"

"10 yuan."

"That Dapeng. Okay, you can go now. It's good that you resigned, saves me from firing you. You wouldn't even be interested in that kind of work with Dapeng, you wouldn't even want that little salary."

Hongyan left, and Third Sister-in-law still had to find someone. Third Sister-in-law thought, what a load of rubbish human resource management, even if I studied it, it's useless, I still don't know how to recruit and manage a cleaner.

When Old Sun, the gatekeeper, heard that Hongyan had resigned, he brought his wife to see Third Sister-in-law, recommending her for a cleaning job. His wife had come to visit relatives for the past few days and was staying with him in the gatehouse. Their children were all grown up, and their elderly parents were in good health and had nothing to do, so if his wife had something to do, she wouldn't go back home.

Third Sister-in-law asked his wife, "What's her name?" Old Sun said, "

Her name is Zhou Laidi.

" Third Sister-in-law said to Old Sun, "I didn't ask you."

Then she asked Zhou Laidi, "How old are you?"

"45."

Third Sister-in-law thought that at that age, there wouldn't be anything like Hongyan's situation anymore.

"Okay, you can work here. Cleaning, cooking, not much work, and not tiring."

Chapter 026 Xiao Cui and Xiao Hong

Da Peng insisted on treating Zhigang to a meal. Zhigang understood that she was afraid Third Sister-in-law would fire him too. He had officially transferred to the migrant workers' home and no longer worked on the construction site, so if Third Sister-in-law fired him, he would be unemployed.

Seeing that he couldn't refuse, Zhigang said, "Let's invite Third Sister-in-law too."

Dapeng smiled mysteriously and said, "We can't invite Third Sister-in-law; something good is going to happen tonight."

They entered the Tianyi Hotel, where two girls were already sitting in a private room. One of them, a fair-skinned, oval-faced, willow-leaf-browed, voluptuous girl, stood up and called out, "Big Brother."

Zhigang recognized the girl: "We seem to have met somewhere before."

"Don't you remember, Big Brother? Last time I took 50 yuan from you, and you didn't do anything."

"Oh. Right, right."

Zhigang remembered; she was a girl from a hair salon.

Dapeng said, "Zhigang, Xiaocui talks about you every day, asking me to bring you to see her. But you're too busy; I can never find you."

Dapeng put his arm around another, taller girl and said, "This is Xiaohong, my wife."

Xiaohong placed her hand directly on Dapeng's crotch: "Honey, you'd better be a little more forceful today."

"What kind of wine do you want to drink?"

Dapeng asked Zhigang.

"Let's not drink anymore. You know I can't drink."

"That won't do."

Xiao Hong let go of Da Peng and said, "Today is the first time I'm having dinner with Brother Feng, I must toast you."

"Then let's have some beer."

"Miss, bring the beer."

Da Peng raised the first glass to Zhi Gang, put down the empty glass, and said, "Zhi Gang, could you tell your third sister-in-law not to make things too difficult for me? I almost got fired by her."

"It was your fault to begin with, it's already a mercy that she didn't fire you."

"No, we're all from the same village. Just talk to your third sister-in-law."

"You know how formidable your third sister-in-law is, it might not work if I say anything."

"Do you think it won't work? Everyone knows your relationship."

Da Peng winked and grinned mischievously.

"Okay, I'll talk to her. But you can't break the rules again."

"Of course. Definitely."

Xiao Cui stood up and toasted Zhi Gang: "Brother, I toast you."

Before Zhi Gang could react, she gulped down a large glass of beer in one go. Zhi Gang had no choice but to finish his glass as well.

Xiao Hong stood up too: "Big brother, I'll toast you too."

"I can't hold my liquor, can I just have a sip?"

"Big brother looks down on people, you finish your drink with Xiao Cui, but only have a sip with me? I'll drink mine first, you decide what to do."

She gulped it down.

Zhi Gang had no choice but to finish his.

Xiao Cui toasted Da Peng, then Zhi Gang. Zhi Gang said, "How about a little less this time?"

Xiao Cui didn't answer, and gulped down her drink again.

Zhi Gang looked at Da Peng. Da Peng said, "The girls have all finished their drinks, aren't you a man?"

Helpless, Zhi Gang finished his drink again. He thought, Xiao Hong will be here soon. Sure enough,

Xiao Hong stood up and walked to Zhi Gang's side: "Big brother, you finished your drink with the beautiful girl, you won't refuse to drink because I'm a little ugly, will you?"

Zhi Gang hadn't expected this tactic, and had to finish his drink again. He felt his heart pounding violently in his chest, almost jumping out of his throat. He knew he couldn't drink anymore. Da Peng noticed too and said to Xiao Cui, "Xiao Cui, help your brother to his room."

Da Peng had booked two guest rooms upstairs. Xiao Cui helped Zhi Gang into the room and laid him down on the bed. Looking at the fair, oval face before him, Zhi Gang felt as if he had known her for a long time.

Xiao Cui struggled to take off Zhi Gang's coat: "Brother, you really can't drink alcohol."

Zhi Gang shook his head: "I really can't."

"I'll pour you a glass of water to sober you up."

Xiao Cui poured a glass of water and placed it on the bedside table. She also took off her coat, revealing a semi-transparent bra that showed most of her breasts. She cupped Zhigang's face in her hands and asked, "Brother, why aren't you interested in me?"

Zhigang said, "It's not that I'm not interested, I'm very interested in you. The first time I saw you, you looked familiar, very kind, like a younger sister."

"Then you're still not interested in me. The men who come here only do one thing, and you came, saw me, and didn't do that, which means I'm not attractive to you. Am I not pretty?"

Xiao Cui said dejectedly, her voice trembling with tears, but she tried her best to hold them back.

"No. I really like you."

Zhigang didn't expect Xiao Cui to say that. He thought that prostitutes might feel things differently from normal people. If you respect her, she says you don't like her; if you're direct and want to have sex with her right away, then you say you like her.

Xiao Cui, her voice trembling with tears, said, "If you like me, sleep with me today. I don't want money."

"How can that be? What will happen to your father's illness if you don't earn money?"

Xiao Cui stared at Zhi Gang with teary eyes. She hadn't expected that after only one meeting, Zhi Gang would remember her father's illness. She wasn't making it up; her father truly was ill, bedridden for over ten years. Everyone knew he wouldn't recover and could only wait to die, but no one dared to tell them. Her mother had to care for her father, farm, and do housework. At only 40, her hair was already gray, making her look 60. She was the eldest child in the family; her younger brother was only 13, in fourth grade, and she didn't know if they could afford to send him to middle school.

Xiao Cui stroked Zhi Gang's chest and said, "Big brother, you have to have me today. If you don't, I'll be such a failure."

Her hand slid down from his chest, touching his genitals. Seeing that Zhi Gang was aroused, she took a condom from the bathroom, put it on him, and helped him enter her.

Xiao Cui's foreplay skills were far inferior to Third Sister-in-law's; she didn't need such skills in her line of work, as her clients were always more proactive. Once inside, Zhigang felt as if the girl had melted away, becoming a part of him. ( Chapter 27,

February 12th) The next morning, Zhigang returned to the migrant workers' home. Third Sister-in-law asked, "Where did you go last night?" Zhigang blushed and said, "I drank too much with Dapeng and couldn't come back, so I slept at a hotel." "Did you sleep with a girl?" Zhigang blushed even more and didn't speak. Third Sister-in-law said, "If you did, then so be it. Don't be shy, I didn't care about you." Third Sister-in- law truly didn't care about him, but she felt a pang of jealousy. Seeing him go out with Dapeng yesterday, she knew it wasn't anything good. The phone on the table rang, and Third Sister-in-law picked up the receiver: "Hello!" "Third Sister-in-law, is Zhigang there?" It was Dazhi's voice. "Yes. Wait here." Zhigang took the phone. "Brother Dazhi, what's up?" "Drive to the train station and pick up your sister-in-law. She'll arrive at 12." "Sister-in-law's here?" "Yes. I have something to do today and can't get away. Once you pick her up, arrange for her to stay at the migrant workers' home." "Okay." Hanging up the phone, Zhigang was a little flustered. He glanced at his third sister-in-law, and seeing that she didn't react, he felt a little relieved. His third sister-in-law asked, "Dazhi's wife is here?" "Yes." "She should be here soon. Dazhi bought a house and is renovating it. It looks like she won't be leaving once she's here." Zhigang drove the Santana he had just bought at the migrant workers' home to the train station, feeling a little eager to see the woman who had made him a man. He parked the car, bought a platform ticket, and went directly to the platform to wait. The train arrived on time. He looked around for a long time, feeling that almost everyone had gotten off the train, before he saw the slender figure of the woman who was both familiar and unfamiliar. She was wearing a moon-white dress, carrying a suitcase in one hand and leading a three- or four-year-old boy out of the carriage with the other. "Sister-in-law." Zhigang went up and took the suitcase from the woman's hand. "It's you, Zhigang." The woman was a little surprised to see that it was Zhigang who came to pick her up . "Dazhi is busy today, so he asked me to pick you up for him." The woman said softly, "That Dazhi, he just wants to send women away." Zhigang didn't hear clearly and asked, "What did you say, sister-in-law?" "Oh, nothing. Let's go." The woman picked up the child and walked out of the station together. After getting on the train and settling in, Zhigang quietly asked, "Sister-in-law, have you thought about me?" Zhang Guiling saw that the child was looking out the window with great interest, so she reached her hand into Zhigang's crotch and found that it was already full, so she pinched it hard. "Ouch!" Zhigang cried out, "Sister-in-law, you're too cruel." Guiling let go and said, "This is punishment for you." "What did I do wrong that you have to punish me like this?" "You didn't come to see me for years." "Sister-in-law, how can I go back ?" "You can't come back without a reason." Zhigang was speechless. Guiling was right. For the past few years, he'd only gone back for the Spring Festival, and Dazhi would go back too, so he'd never had a chance. But he could always go back once or twice a week, at most losing a little money on his salary. He had indeed thought about going back to see her, but he always hesitated and didn't make a decision. He was afraid that if people found out about their relationship, it would embarrass Dazhi. Seeing Zhigang remain silent, Guiling said, "How many women do you have now?" Zhigang, after his lower body returned to normal, started the car: "I don't have any women. Not a single one." "Don't lie to me. Can you endure these past few years? Do you know how I endured it?" "You probably wouldn't stay home alone every day, would you?" "Do you want me to stay home alone?" "No. I want men to make you happy every day." "Naive. Having men every day is happiness?" The moment Third Sister-in-law saw Zhang Guiling, she immediately assumed she was her rival. After Zhigang helped her and her child into their room and settled them in, Third Sister-in-law quietly asked, "She's your first woman. Isn't that right?" Zhigang didn't speak, which was an admission. "You're not allowed to touch her again." "Why? Didn't you say you wouldn't restrict me?" "I don't care who you sleep with, but you're not allowed to sleep with her." Chapter 028 Human Resources Consultant Actually, Zhigang had no chance at all; Dazhi came back to stay every night. Third Sister-in-law's eyes were always like nails in his back, making Zhigang feel like Third Sister-in-law could hear him when he talked to Guiling. He thought, this woman's intuition is really accurate; Guiling is the only woman who could possibly replace Third Sister-in-law in Zhigang's heart. The migrant workers' home expanded; Zhigang rented all the factory buildings from the other two bankrupt factories, and the number of employees increased to more than a dozen. Don't underestimate these dozen or so people; managing them gave Zhigang and Third Sister-in-law quite a headache. Third Sister-in-law was diligent; every day, she would go around the three district factories, which would take half a day. The moment she turned her back, the employees would slack off. Even if she couldn't see it, she always suspected the employees of slacking off.

Zhigang knew that both he and his third sister-in-law had management problems. The employees at the migrant workers' home had developed a habit: they worked tirelessly when his third sister-in-law was there, but stopped as soon as she left. This situation couldn't last. Zhigang wanted to train some managers, but couldn't find a suitable one. He thought of Shi Yuqin and called her. After hearing his explanation, Shi Yuqin said, "I don't have classes this Saturday, I'll come over."

On Saturday afternoon, Shi Yuqin arrived in her red BMW. She wore a loose beige shirt and a blue knee-length skirt, her long hair flowing gracefully as she got out of the car. After touring the workers' home, she offered five suggestions: First, establish and improve the organizational structure, such as setting up three independent entities so that each of the three factories could operate independently; second, clearly define the responsibilities of senior management; third, quickly identify and train middle managers, and try to have reserve personnel for each position; fourth, improve rules and regulations and strictly enforce them; fifth, establish a corporate culture—even a small company has a culture that is everywhere.

Shi Yuqin said to Zhigang, "After reading your work, I have even more confidence in you. I have some long-term suggestions; would you like to hear them?"

"Of course I would."

"Although there are many specific management problems now, they will be resolved sooner or later. These are all micro-level issues. While it's said that details determine success or failure, it's not just details that determine success or failure. That statement was actually a successful marketing tactic, making that book a bestseller, but it also misled many people."

"Really? I've never heard of that before."

"Many factors determine success or failure. We can say that strategy determines success or failure, tactics determine success or failure, talent determines success or failure, and so on. Is that wrong? No, it's not wrong at all. Let me give you another example: 'A glass of milk strengthens a nation' is a very clever and successful marketing tactic, but can a nation be strengthened just by drinking milk? Obviously not. Speaking of your migrant workers' home, I've noticed that Third Sister's management is very meticulous; she pays attention to every detail. But can she manage it all? To standardize details, you need to establish those standards; to implement those standards, you need a strong execution team; to build and retain that execution team, you need a series of top-level designs and models, including a future vision; and to realize these designs and models, you need your own unique corporate culture."

"Interesting. I think I'm starting to understand."

"It's clear that business management is a systematic project. It requires top-level design and a top-level culture. Only under this premise can you succeed if you do the details well. I suggest that in the next few years, you develop this migrant workers' home into a classic, standardized, and replicable template, and then turn it into a chain, rapidly expanding it nationwide through franchising. All you need to do is export the brand and management. This way, not only will your management be easier, but making money will also be easier."

Feng Zhigang suddenly understood. He asked curiously, "These things are no longer within the scope of human resources, yet you understand them?"

Shi Yuqin smiled and said, "I've been working in human resources for over ten years, do I want to do it forever? Besides, people's knowledge structure needs to be more systematic and comprehensive these days."

Zhigang's heart skipped a beat, and he said, "How about I ask you to be a consultant for the company? A human resources consultant, but not limited to human resources, you can be a consultant on anything you understand."

"Is there a salary?"

"No. But there's a promise of future equity returns or franchise profit sharing. How about it?"

"I knew you were quick-witted and perceptive. Okay, I agree, I'll be your consultant for free. I'm optimistic about your future, so you have to keep your promise, equity returns or profit sharing, it's all fine."

After dinner, they talked for a long time. Third Sister-in-law wasn't interested and had already gone to watch TV with Jing'er. When Shi Yuqin said goodbye, she looked at her watch and it was past 10 o'clock.

Zhigang saw Shi Yuqin downstairs, and Shi Yuqin started the car, saying, "Get in, I have something to do." Zhigang

sat in the passenger seat, and Shi Yuqin stepped on the gas, and the BMW sped off. Leaving the migrant workers' home, Shi Yuqin drove onto a deserted dirt road beside the construction site. Zhigang asked, "Where are you going?"

"Don't ask."

After driving about a kilometer, Shi Yuqin stopped the car. It was pitch black all around, with several construction sites in the distance, completely dark and unlit. Shi Yuqin turned off the headlights, and the car was enveloped in darkness. Zhigang smelled the expensive perfume on Shi Yuqin. Shi Yuqin turned and hugged Zhigang, kissing him passionately, her tongue plunging into his throat. Zhigang

had never encountered such a direct woman before, catching him completely off guard. Once Shi Yuqin's tongue was in his throat, he reciprocated.

Chapter 029 Making a mountain out of a molehill .

Following Shi Yuqin's suggestion, Zhigang and his third sister-in-law discussed and decided to establish directly subordinate departments such as Human Resources and Administration, Finance, Engineering, and Investment Promotion. Jing'er was appointed as the manager of Human Resources and Administration, his third sister-in-law as the manager of Finance, Dapeng as the manager of Engineering, and Zhigang himself as the manager of Investment Promotion. The three factories were geographically separated, making unified management difficult. Therefore, they were divided into three units: Migrant Workers' Village 1, Migrant Workers' Village 2, and Migrant Workers' Village 3. Zhigang, Third Sister-in-law, and Jing'er each served as village head/manager, but suitable replacements needed to be trained as soon as possible.

Jing'er, along with a clerk, created an "Employee Handbook" containing all the company's established rules and regulations, and distributed a copy to each employee. Every employee was required to be familiar with the handbook's contents, and Third Sister-in-law frequently conducted spot checks, asking unexpected questions, with fines for those who couldn't answer.

Despite all this, the employees' attitudes remained unchanged.

Zhigang called Shi Yuqin: "Yuqin, I've done everything you asked me to do, but the employees are still the same as before. What's going on?"

Yuqin chuckled: "You think corporate management is that simple? Execution is more important. You need to cultivate the execution ability of all employees, starting with you and Third Sister-in-law." "

Execution ability? How do I cultivate it? Does it mean being absolutely compliant and having to follow orders?"

"Yes. Your employees have already developed bad habits, which are extremely difficult to correct. You must be determined to use strong measures. Now is the time to focus on details. We need to make a big deal out of small things, treat small matters as big matters, and make small things have a big impact so that employees will feel the pain and take their work to heart."

"What kind of small things can have a big impact?"

"I'll give you a detail that you probably haven't noticed."

"What detail?"

"What's Third Sister-in-law's name?"

"Her name is Chen Lanhua."

"From now on, in the company, including yourself, don't call her Third Sister-in-law anymore. Call her by her name, or Manager Chen."

"That's so awkward. I've never called her by her name."

“Even if it feels awkward, we have to change it. This is called making a mountain out of a molehill. Think about it, what kind of impression does it give people when you call a manager ‘Third Sister-in-law’ in a company? It’ll make them think it’s either a family business or a small workshop. We need to make employees realize that the company is now formalized, and the rules are not to be trifled with. Once they’re announced, they have to be followed. And everyone is equal before the rules.”

“You know, this detail is really difficult. You want me to call Chen Lanhua ‘Manager Chen’? Hehe.”

“Hehe.”

Yuqin mimicked Zhigang’s silly grin perfectly. “Of course you can’t say it. You probably call her ‘sweetheart’ sometimes, right?”

Zhigang once again experienced the power of a woman’s intuition.

Zhigang told his third sister-in-law what Shi Yuqin had said, and she thought it made sense: "Actually, all the new employees call me manager, only you and the old employees call me third sister-in-law. Sometimes, when you call me that in front of the new employees, I feel uncomfortable, and I can tell they're not used to it either. They might even feel a distance, thinking we're family and they're outsiders."

Zhigang pondered for a moment: "Okay, let's start by addressing each other correctly. A fine for calling someone by the wrong name. I'll be fined the same if I do."

"How much is the fine for each mistake?"

"Fifty."

His third sister-in-law laughed: "Then you'll definitely get the biggest fine."

"Really? What do you think we should do with the fine?"

"Treat everyone to a meal, or reward the best performers."

"Let's treat everyone to a meal. It'll create a better atmosphere, and if we don't have enough money, we can make up the difference. Besides, this money will only decrease over time, so rewarding one person isn't very meaningful."

“Okay, let’s get to it. Be careful from now on.”

Zhigang said to Jing’er, “Jing’er, issue a notice that from now on, during work hours, family titles are not allowed. For example, ‘Third Sister-in-law,’ you must use her name or title. Violators will be fined fifty.”

He then asked Third Sister-in-law, “Third Sister-in-law, do you think this is acceptable?”

Third Sister-in-law—Chen Lanhua—extended her right hand to him: “Fifty yuan fine. Give it to me.”

Zhigang slapped his forehead: “I accept the penalty, I accept the penalty.”

Zhigang took out his wallet, took out 100 yuan and gave it to Jing’er: “This is the first fine, double it, let’s make it 100 yuan.”

Chen Lanhua said to Jing’er, “Put the details of the first fine on the notice as well.”

Chapter 030 Killing the Chicken to Scare

the Monkey Shi Yuqin warned Zhigang to start with the way Chen Lanhua was addressed, and not to relax in the slightest. Moreover, he had to continuously increase the intensity and never give up, making it the norm in the company.

Zhigang knew that to change the deeply ingrained peasant mentality and style of migrant workers, gentle persuasion would not work; he had to be firm, that is, to increase the intensity as Yuqin said.

Chen Lanhua said, "In the countryside, the most effective tactic is to make an example of someone. Find someone influential, fire them, and everyone will submit."

Zhigang asked, "Who has the most influence in the company?"

Chen Lanhua smiled and said, "You."

"Then fire me. But I haven't done anything seriously wrong, you have no reason to fire me."

"Then what should we do, fire me? I haven't done anything wrong either."

"Let nature take its course. Someone will make a mistake. No matter how big or small, just make a big deal out of it."

The opportunity soon came.

Chen Lanhua noticed that the cleaner, Zhou Laidi, had been acting strangely lately, spending a lot of time with Dapeng, often whispering to each other, and then Zhou Laidi would disappear. She wondered if Dapeng was pimping again. Although Zhou Laidi looked relatively young, she was over forty years old, could she still do such a thing? Was there business involved? But if it wasn't this, what else would Dapeng be doing?

She decided to follow Zhou Laidi. That day at lunch, she saw Dapeng talking to Zhou Laidi again. Not long after lunch, Zhou Laidi went to the restroom, straightened her clothes, and went out. Chen Lanhua saw her enter the construction site gate from afar and head towards the construction site.

As Chen Lanhua entered the gate, she greeted the gatekeeper, Old Sun: "Old Sun, have you eaten?"

"Yes, I have. Have you eaten too?"

"Yes. Is Aunt Wu finished with her work? I'm looking for her."

"She should still be busy in the kitchen."

Chen Lanhua quietly and quickly passed by the kitchen door, making sure Aunt Wu didn't see her, and went around a bend, going under the construction site wall to the construction site. She already knew that Zhou Laidi must be here to do something shady. It was summer, and all the workers were sleeping at noon; there wouldn't be anyone at the construction site.

Chen Lanhua peeked through a window and saw Zhou Laidi inside. A moment later, a man walked in through the doorway; it was the bricklayer, Peng Jiayou. Jiayou was in his early thirties, married, and his wife had two children in Pengjia Village: a six-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. Peng Jiayou's parents were old, so his wife did most of the physical labor.

He grabbed Zhou Laidi and kissed her, then reached his hands under her clothes and began groping her breasts. Chen Lanhua, seeing only rubble and dirt, didn't understand what they were doing. She saw Peng Jiayou lean against the wall, pull down his pants, lift Zhou Laidi's skirt, and lift her up by her buttocks, then penetrate her directly. It turned out Zhou Laidi wasn't wearing underwear; she probably took it off in the bathroom before coming. "This shameless woman, so old, yet so lewd," Chen Lanhua thought to herself. Chen Lanhua

realized that sex could be done standing up. The two men and women struggled for a while before calming down. Jiayou put Zhou Laidi down, sweating profusely. Zhou Laidi lowered her skirt, patted herself down, and turned to leave. The two hadn't said a word the entire time; their purpose was clear: to have sex.

Chen Lanhua returned to the migrant workers' home and called Dapeng to her office.

"Dapeng, what did you and Zhou Laidi do together again?"

Dapeng looked bewildered and feigned ignorance, saying, "Nothing. What could we do? Would I sleep with her?"

"Hmph, I don't know if you slept with her or not, but I know you introduced her to Jiayou for that kind of thing."

"No."

"Don't deny it anymore. I saw it with my own eyes, just now. Tell me, how much did you get?"

Dapeng knew he couldn't deny it anymore and had to admit, "Thirty yuan."

"A pittance. How much did you get?"

"Ten yuan."

"Business is good? "

"Not bad."

"You did this despicable thing right under Lao Sun's nose. Aren't you afraid Lao Sun will find out and fight you to the death?"

"Lao Sun knows. I pass by him every day, how could he not know?"

Chen Lanhua was speechless.

"I'm afraid you have more than just Zhou Laidi with you, right?"

Dapeng nodded.

"Do you know which company rules you've broken? Doing things unrelated to work during work hours, running a side business, and even violating national laws and regulations by organizing prostitution."

Da Peng panicked a little: "Are you really going to fire me?"

"Who told you to walk into the line of fire? Da Peng, don't blame Zhi Gang and me for being ruthless, we really can't tolerate you anymore. Besides, you're too ambitious, not suited for working for someone else, you should go out and do your own thing."

Chapter 031 Breaking Through the Talent Bottleneck

Peng Da Peng's dismissal shocked all the employees. In the company, besides Zhi Gang, Lan Hua, and Jing Er, no one was more senior than Da Peng. If even he could be fired, who couldn't? Some people couldn't make it and resigned voluntarily. The direct consequence was a severe shortage of manpower, and an even greater shortage of qualified personnel.

On Saturday, Lan Hua and Jing Er set up a booth at the Zhongshan West Road Talent Market to recruit administrative management, property management, finance, water and electricity maintenance personnel, etc. Talent had become a bottleneck for the development of the neighboring village's migrant worker home. Lan Hua was anxious and wanted to personally find capable personnel.

Because it was the weekend, the job market was bustling with activity. Many people were consulting at the neighboring village workers' market booth. Some asked about the work location and salary, complaining that it was too far, not in the city center. Those willing to work in such a remote location and accept the offered salary were unlikely to meet the requirements themselves. The vast majority of those applying for management positions had no work experience, some were even recent college graduates; the largest number applied for finance positions, also mostly recent graduates; the fewest applied for plumber/electrician positions, probably because of their lower education levels and infrequent visits to job markets. Lan Hua sat there all day without finding a suitable candidate, only bringing back a little over a hundred resumes.

Zhi Gang, reviewing these resumes, was also disappointed; there were too few suitable candidates. He hoped to recruit experienced people, more capable than himself and Lan Hua, to manage the company. Now, he could only select some from this pool, train them, and see if they could be competent.

Jing'er notified more than twenty people to come for interviews; more than a dozen showed up. Zhi Gang personally interviewed them, ultimately selecting seven and asking Jing'er to notify them to start work.

On the first day of work for the new employees, only five people showed up. All departments were short-staffed, and there wasn't enough time for training, so Zhigang asked Lanhua to be assigned to her position immediately. Only one month into the three-month probationary period, four had already left. Two of them didn't even ask for their wages and simply stopped coming back.

Frustrated, Zhigang called Shi Yuqin again.

Yuqin said, "The immediate reason might be that you're paying too little, and the compensation structure is unreasonable; the deeper reason is the company's poor brand influence and insufficient corporate culture to attract and retain employees. Don't worry, a company's talent pool needs long-term accumulation. It's normal for a new company to encounter these problems. It's hard to explain over the phone. How about this, I'll come over on Saturday and give you a proper diagnosis and prescription."

On Saturday afternoon, Yuqin arrived in her red BMW.

After instructing Jing'er on how to develop a salary scheme, Yuqin said to Zhigang and Lanhua, "I have an idea, what do you think?"

Lanhua said, "Tell me quickly."

"Given the current strength of the neighboring village's workers' home, a significant increase in wages is unrealistic, and a small increase won't work. We'll have to take a different approach. You can specifically recruit recent graduates as management trainees, train them first, and then assign them to the lowest levels. Recent graduates are highly adaptable and don't have the bad habits of the workplace. Because they are only management trainees, their salaries can be very low, but they feel there's potential, so they'll work very hard. This way, we have people to do the work, we can discover talent, and the company's salary expenses won't increase much."

"Great!"

Zhigang clapped his hands. "That's a good idea!"

“Most of them will leave before they can stick it out, resulting in high turnover. But your workforce already has high turnover, right? Instead of aimless turnover like in the past, it's better to have purposeful turnover. The remaining few are the talents you need. You should gradually promote them, eventually give them important positions, and offer them high salaries or even equity. This model needs to be maintained long-term. Over time, you will build a very stable, loyal, and highly efficient team. Talent you cultivate yourself will be much easier to use, unlike highly paid hires who might not adapt well to the company and will at least have a costly adjustment period. This model also has another advantage: when you expand into franchising in the future, you'll need to train a lot of franchisees. You'll naturally have a good training school and mechanism, eliminating the need to start from scratch. From this perspective, you'll save a lot of money.”

Lan Hua happily put her arm around Yu Qin's shoulder and said, “Yu Qin, you're so talented!”

Yu Qin also put her arm around Lan Hua and said, “But, Lan Hua, you must keep your promise!”

"What promise?"

Yuqin gestured towards Zhigang, saying, "Something like shares, profit sharing, and so on."

Lanhua said, "No problem. Based on your contributions, we should reward you."

Zhigang said, "You've helped a lot, and my promise is still empty. Today, let's draft an agreement stating that as the long-term consultant of the neighboring village's workers' home, you will own 10% of the shares, and receive dividends at the end of the year according to this proportion. I've already talked to Dazhi about this, and he agreed. What do you think?"

"Great."

Zhigang said to Jing'er, "Just draft an agreement based on this idea, and we'll sign it right away."

Chapter 032 Dapeng's Entrepreneurship

Zhigang invited Yuqin to stay for dinner, but Yuqin said she had a dinner engagement that evening, said goodbye to Lanhua, and asked Zhigang to see her downstairs.

Yuqin started the car and said to Zhigang, "Get in."

Zhigang got into the front seat, and the BMW immediately sped off. Yuqin's driving skills were much better than before, even Zhigang was impressed. This time, Yuqin didn't drive into the construction site; it wasn't dark yet, and the construction site was still bustling with activity. She drove for about ten minutes until they reached a rural field. Seeing no one around, she stopped the car, embraced Zhigang, and thrust her tongue into his throat.

While kissing him, Shi Yuqin skillfully reclined Zhigang's seat with one hand, then straddled him, lifting her skirt to allow him to penetrate her directly. Zhigang noticed she wasn't wearing underwear.

Shi Yuqin had also taken off her top, her left hand gripping the handrail above the car door. Her large breasts bounced up and down with her movements, dazzlingly white in the darkness like waves. Zhigang hadn't expected this white-collar worker to be so wild; he felt this position would allow him to last longer. After what seemed like an eternity, Shi Yuqin suddenly screamed loudly, a continuous, uninterrupted scream, somewhat like a dolphin's high note, trembling with her violent movements, lasting for several minutes. Her breath was long enough; the screams eventually subsided quickly, and Shi Yuqin collapsed onto Zhigang.

Zhigang had once again experienced the madness of this white-collar woman, more wanton and direct than rural women.

Da Peng, now jobless, felt more relaxed and decided to focus solely on his current business. He already had about ten women, all from the countryside, with low demands, making them popular on the construction site. He charged 30 yuan for older women and 50 yuan for younger ones like Hongyan. Taking a woman away for the night cost 100 yuan, regardless of age. Xiao Cui and Xiao Hong also worked part-time for him; they would call when they had business, and he would come over when he was available.

Da Peng had originally intended to use the neighboring village's migrant worker shelter for its rooms and convenience, but now that it was closed, losing his job didn't bother him much. He rented a house in the village with three rooms; he lived in one, and partitioned the other two to create four rooms for his business.

However, less than a month later, the police raided the place, arrested two couples, shut down his business, and fined him.

The police demanded that Da Peng find someone to bail them out, so he had to call Da Zhi. The two migrant workers arrested this time were also from Da Zhi's construction site. Dazhi found Officer Zheng Liang, paid a fine, and got Dapeng, the two migrant workers, and the two prostitutes released.

It was already lunchtime, so Dazhi took them to the Tianyi Hotel and booked a private room.

After ordering, Dazhi asked Dapeng, "This time you're probably going to lose everything, right?"

"Who says you aren't? I paid six months' rent, and the police shut it down in less than a month."

"You think this kind of business is easy? No business is easy; you need connections and the right methods."

Dazhi actually hoped Dapeng's business could continue, as it would help stabilize his workforce. The migrant workers' home addressed the legal or semi-legal sexual needs of couples, but that was only for a minority. The vast majority of people on the construction site couldn't legally resolve their sexual needs; only people like Dapeng could.

"Brother Dazhi, what should I do?"

"Your business is illegal, how can you be so honest? First, you need to befriend the police so you know when they'll raid."

"Would the police befriend someone who runs a brothel?"

"You're really naive. Can you tell him you run a brothel?"

"Then what do I do?"

"Think about it yourself. For example, contractors or site managers are fine. Those with many migrant workers are the focus of inspections. If you have a good relationship with the police, they'll take care of you. The police understand that large numbers of migrant workers are the hardest to manage, and they can't all be perfectly law-abiding. There are too many cases of people without temporary residence permits, evading family planning policies, or living together illegally. If they were to be strict, they couldn't manage them all, and there's no point. Their inspections are mainly to put pressure on the migrant workers, making them feel pressured and afraid to go too far. You should take advantage of this mentality. Their goal isn't to arrest people, but to maintain order, so they're willing to cultivate a good relationship with the site manager. For example, if he frequently leaks information about inspections to you, you can help him manage the migrant workers—isn't that a win-win situation?"

Da Peng suddenly understood and happily said, "Brother Da Zhi, I never imagined there were so many intricacies to running such an irregular business. I need to learn from you. Today I'm treating you; consider it an apprenticeship. Please guide me in the future."

The dishes arrived, and Da Peng, pleased, ordered a bottle of baijiu and poured it for everyone. Da Zhi glanced at the two young ladies; he recognized Hong Yan, but not Xiao Cui. Hong Yan was lively, clever, and adept at reading people; her almond-shaped eyes and sweet smile were irresistible to men. Xiao Cui, quiet and well-behaved, with fair skin and a delicate face, was most attractive to cultured men. He asked Dapeng, "These two girls are quite attractive, are you only offering them to migrant workers?"

"Yes."

"How much do you charge per session?"

"50."

"That's such a waste of talent. Do you know how much KTV hostesses charge? The cheapest is 200, and that's just for singing, not sleeping with customers. If you want to sleep with them, it's several times more. Some pretty girls are even college students; they charge several thousand for a night."

"That much? But Hongyan and the others can't sing, and their education level is low; they don't know how to entertain customers."

"Training. With their looks and demeanor, these two girls could easily work as hostesses in KTVs after training. Just tell the customers they're students from a certain university, and they're guaranteed to be popular. Dapeng, whatever business you do, you need to have a higher vision, a longer-term perspective, and strive for high-end development. The higher the level, the higher the added value."

"What is added value?"

“The more money you earn, the better.”

Hongyan, quick-witted, quickly filled her glass with wine, carried it to Dazhi's side, and said, “Brother, thank you. I toast you. You must take me to a karaoke bar.”

Hongyan drank it all in one gulp, and Dazhi also drank his glass, thinking that this girl was truly promising.

Chapter 033 Establishing a School for Migrant Workers' Children

Dazhi was thinking of opening a karaoke bar and entrusting it to Dapeng to manage. Dapeng wasn't a good employee, but he was really talented at managing entertainment venues. However, he was a little short of money recently, so he decided to wait until his financial situation improved before doing it.

Just then, another incident occurred at the construction site. Quanfa's neighbor called to say that his youngest son had drowned in the reservoir outside the village, and his wife was so heartbroken that she was hospitalized. Quanfa went back to handle the funeral arrangements. A month later, he returned with his wife and moved into the migrant workers' home.

This incident caused panic among the workers at the construction site. Most of the migrant workers were in their prime, with children around ten years old. They were already worried about leaving their children at home, and after the accident involving Uncle Quanfa's son, they were all even more concerned about their own children. Several workers asked for leave to go back home and bring their wives and children to Shanghai, returning them after the summer vacation. Most called and told their wives and children to come by themselves. Suddenly, the housing available at the migrant workers' home in the neighboring village became even more scarce.

Dazhi came to the migrant workers' home to discuss this with Zhigang. Although some workers had already brought their wives and children, they were exhausted, couldn't sleep well at night, and were noticeably less focused during the day, making them more prone to accidents. Those who hadn't brought their children were constantly worried about them, also experiencing difficulty concentrating.

“I live in constant fear, afraid something will happen at the construction site. Sometimes I dream about it at night, and I wake up in a cold sweat. Once I even dreamed that Uncle Quanfa’s son came to take me to hell. I brought them out to work, and I’m the one who benefits the most. I make a lot of money, they make a little, and I’ve also put them under some risk. I want to try to reduce some of their burden. Do you think there’s any good way to do this?”

Dazhi said.

"How about starting a school for migrant workers' children?"

Dazhi's eyes lit up. "Great idea! But can a roughneck like me really manage to run a school?"

"Why not? Before coming to Shanghai, you'd only ever built three-courtyard houses in the countryside. Did you ever imagine you could build these skyscrapers? Look at Pudong now. Those buildings, which would be top-notch anywhere in the world, weren't they all built brick by brick by us migrant workers? I felt proud just walking past them, let alone you."

"You're right. I'm not afraid to compare myself to anyone when it comes to building houses, but I'm not so sure about running a school. Maybe you can do it, but the Migrant Workers' Home can't do without you."

"Brother Dazhi, you're really looking for the perfect person. There's a perfect candidate right here beside you."

"Who?"

"Your wife, Zhang Guiling. She's a high school graduate, right? She'd definitely be a great principal for a migrant workers' children's school."

"Yes. Why didn't I think of her? She spends all her time at home practicing calligraphy or reading novels, crying all the time. We need to get her to do something practical, so she doesn't get upset over those fictional characters."

"However, the feasibility of this needs to be demonstrated. We need to clarify the investment amount and the returns. If it's not profitable, it's okay to maintain it, but if it's not, it's not worthwhile to pour the money you earn from construction sites into this. Even if you're willing, it won't last."

"I'll leave this feasibility study to you. Didn't you do a great job with the migrant workers' homes?"

Zhigang drove around visiting many migrant workers' children's schools in Shanghai and found that they were all spontaneously established by migrant workers and contractors like Dazhi, and all for profit. If they can make a profit, then we can too. Zhigang's further investigation revealed that the profit margin for running a school is quite substantial.

Zhigang's feasibility study report was very detailed. From a macro perspective, it investigated how long the phenomenon of large-scale influx of migrant workers into cities in China would continue, the necessity, survival space, and development prospects of migrant workers' children's schools, etc.; from the perspective of market demand and operating methods, it analyzed the lifespan of such schools and their profit models, etc.; from the perspective of social impact, it examined the social attention and influence that establishing migrant workers' children's schools would bring, and what intangible assets they would bring to enterprises, etc.; it also included the investment amount and return time, and so on.

The report specifically emphasizes that, from the perspective of existing migrant workers' children's schools, the biggest problems are standardization, teacher quality, and teaching philosophy; from the perspective of students' future development, the biggest problem is that they can only return to their hometowns to take the college entrance examination.

The report concludes that: it is feasible and very necessary to establish a migrant workers' children's school in a neighboring village. We must take a long-term view and follow the path of standardized operation and high-quality teaching, and not mislead the children. As for future problems that cannot be solved in the present, such as the college entrance examination, we will solve them in the future. For example, future policies may change, and taking the college entrance examination nearby may be solved; we can also cooperate with famous schools in our hometown to exchange teaching resources, on the one hand to cultivate and improve our own teachers' level, and on the other hand to invite famous teachers from famous schools in our hometown to teach, so that students will be more confident in taking the college entrance examination in the future, and at least have some confidence in competing.

Chapter 34 Guiling (1)

When she heard that she was asked to establish a school, Zhang Guiling was overjoyed. She had wanted to do something for a long time, but she had not found a suitable job or a good idea, so she stayed at home until now.

However, how to solve the cost of running a school? The start-up capital is at least 1 million yuan, and additional investment is needed later. Dazhi is currently facing difficulties and cannot come up with that much capital.

Principal Zhang's first task upon taking office was to raise funds.

Zhigang came up with an idea: Dazhi would contribute 500,000 yuan initially, and then another 500,000 yuan would be secured through a loan from the neighboring village's migrant workers' home. This would provide the initial capital. Further investment could be considered later, by which time Dazhi's financial situation might have eased. If all else failed, they could try increasing shareholders, attracting investment, or pooling funds.

Dazhi thought this approach was feasible. The migrant workers' home was doing very well, so a 500,000 yuan loan should be achievable.

With the funds secured, they began selecting a location and processing the necessary paperwork.

Guiling didn't have a car and couldn't drive, so she asked Zhigang to drive her. After visiting over a dozen locations, they finally settled on a nearby old township government compound. This township had been dissolved during the merger of districts and townships, and the property belonged to the town government. The compound contained a three-story main office building and two single-story houses. Currently, the single-story houses and most of the other buildings were rented out, and the town government promised to vacate the premises within three months.

Guiling stayed at the migrant workers' home in the neighboring village for three months before moving to an apartment that Dazhi had bought. It was in a different district, quite far away. Every day after finishing her errands, Zhigang would drive her home. She invited Zhigang to her place, but he always declined, afraid he wouldn't be able to control himself and feeling guilty towards Dazhi. He could see that Guiling, with Dazhi's attention, had become even more radiant.

What he didn't know was that the real nourishment Guiling received wasn't after coming to Shanghai, but back in their hometown. Their first sexual encounter hadn't satisfied her; instead, it had aroused even stronger desires.

With so much free time in the countryside, she'd let her mind wander, especially a woman like Guiling who loved reading novels and had a rich imagination, constantly weaving different love stories in her mind. Often, just as the story reached its climax, with the protagonists naked and embracing, she would snap back to reality. This was the most painful time for her. Once, while sitting in the kitchen lost in thought, she suddenly felt a surge of desire. She picked up an eggplant from among the freshly washed vegetables and, without thinking, inserted it into her vagina. Instantly, she felt a wave of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted. She remained satisfied for an hour. This led her to discover a good method; even without a real man, it was better than nothing. From then on, she did this every few days, each time for at least an hour. Now, she can bring herself to orgasm.

Women understand women best, and Cai Hongxia always wanted to help Guiling, but this was something she couldn't do. Hongxia often invited Guiling to her house, sometimes with Peng Shuyou too. Hongxia would cook a few dishes, and the three of them would drink some wine.

After Guiling's child was weaned, she could gradually let her mother-in-law take care of the child, and Hongxia invited Guiling to visit even more frequently. Hongxia liked playing mahjong and often tried to persuade Guiling to play as well, but Guiling naturally disliked mahjong and refused no matter how much she was persuaded. While playing mahjong, Hongxia overheard her mahjong partner mentioning that the town's cultural center was offering interest classes, including painting, calligraphy, erhu (a two-stringed bowed instrument), flute, and dancing. The next afternoon, Guiling came to her house, and Hongxia suggested she enroll at the cultural center.

Guiling shook her head, saying, "Besides reading novels, I don't have any hobbies. What could I possibly learn?"

"How will you know what you like if you don't learn anything? For example, learn to paint. Once you learn, you can paint at home every day, and you'll have something to do,"

Peng Shuyou added. "Yes, cultivating a hobby can also broaden your knowledge and improve your cultural literacy."

Guiling was somewhat tempted. Hongxia

brought out the dishes: four dishes and a soup—salted small fish, salted duck, stir-fried cabbage, stir-fried green beans, and tomato and egg soup. Peng Shuyou took out a bottle of baijiu (Chinese liquor) and poured it for everyone. Hongxia first served rice and vegetables to her 6-year-old daughter and 2-year-old son, then sat down to drink with them. This cheap baijiu was diluted with a lot of water, and the three of them could easily finish a bottle each time.

After a few drinks, someone called Hongxia to play mahjong, as they were one player short. Hongxia quickly ate a bowl of rice and left.

Hongxia often did this; whenever someone invited her to play mahjong, she would rush off, leaving her two children in Peng Shuyou's care, neglecting everything else.

Peng Shuyou picked up his glass: "Guiling, ignore her, keep drinking."

"Okay."

Guiling downed her

drink in one gulp. The bottle was finished, mostly drunk by Peng Shuyou and Guiling. As Guiling stood up, she felt dizzy and almost fell; Peng Shuyou quickly supported her.

"Go inside and rest for a while,"

Peng Shuyou said.

Guiling nodded and was helped into Hongxia's bedroom by Peng Shuyou. She knew in her heart that Hongxia had deliberately arranged this. Peng Shuyou put her on the bed, took off his shoes, and she hugged his neck. Peng Shuyou then lay on top of her, pressing against her breasts, causing them some pain.

Peng Shuyou got up, closed the door, and kissed Guiling. Guiling said, "Hurry up, there are still children outside."

The two took off their clothes and became one. It has been more than a year since she last made love with Zhigang. Guiling has only made love once a year on average, which is more painful than not making love at all. Perhaps it was because of the psychological burden that Peng Shuyou gave her arousal, but she did not reach orgasm.

Chapter 035 Guiling (2)

After leaving Hongxia's house, Guiling did not feel the joy and satisfaction of having just enjoyed sex. Instead, she felt uneasy. Although Peng Shuyou was only Hongxia's temporary man, he was still her man. If she took him, Hongxia would definitely be unhappy. Besides, although she did not have a bad impression of Peng Shuyou, she did not have much affection for him either, and she could not feel any passion. I

will never do this again. She thought to herself.

Early the next morning, Guiling went to the town's cultural station to register for an interest class.

As soon as she entered the gate of the cultural station, she saw a row of galleries displaying students' paintings, calligraphy and photography works, as well as photos of the instructors. The elegant and handsome photo of the calligraphy teacher attracted Guiling's attention. He looked to be in his early forties, with neatly combed slicked-back hair, wearing jeans and a cultural shirt, and was writing a large cursive script on a sheet of rice paper on the table. The introduction indicated the teacher was Li Wenbo, the head of the town's cultural center, and a renowned calligrapher in the province, having won national awards. She hadn't known what to learn before, but immediately decided to study calligraphy.

There were only one boy, one girl, and Guiling studying calligraphy at the same time. The two teenagers had been learning for some time and had a considerable foundation, while Guiling only had elementary school experience with tracing characters. She watched the two children write, listened to the teacher's guidance, or observed the teacher creating.

Guiling especially loved watching the teacher write cursive script. It was clear that the teacher was in a state of complete absorption; the paper, the brush, and the person were one. Every movement of the teacher seemed to engage all his nerves, like a dance. It was a masculine dance, a powerful dance, full of sensuality. Guiling was captivated.

The first time the teacher gave Guiling guidance, seeing her eager expression, he said, "You need to calm down, steady your mind, and cultivate tranquility to eventually write a wild cursive script like mine. Without more than ten years of tranquility, you won't achieve this unrestrained freedom."

Guiling went home and practiced calligraphy every day, bringing her work to the teacher for critique on Saturdays. Initially, she felt restless and impatient, merely completing the daily tasks. After six months, she gradually felt a change in her mindset. When she sat down at her desk, she no longer rushed to finish writing, but instead would sit quietly for a while, allowing herself time to cultivate her emotions before picking up her pen and enjoying the pleasure of writing. She even found that she rarely had trouble sleeping at night like before, and she no longer woke up in the middle of the night and stayed awake until dawn. With a calmer mind, it seemed her desires also subsided. She used to think about calligraphy almost every night, but now it only happens once or twice a month.

Teacher Li Wenbo praised Guiling's aptitude but didn't support her practicing running script too early, let alone cursive script. He told her to only practice regular script, saying that without years of foundation in regular script, she shouldn't even think about practicing running script. Guiling had no choice but to suppress her impatience and practice regular script every day.

The walls of Li Wenbo's studio were covered with his works in various calligraphic styles. Guiling would often linger after class, carefully admiring each piece, never getting enough of them. These works changed frequently; some were bought, some were given away, and some that Li Wenbo himself was very satisfied with were taken down and treasured. Once, seeing Guiling so engrossed in looking at them, Li Wenbo said, "Guiling, take whichever one you like, I'll give it to you."

"Really?"

Guiling was overjoyed.

"Really. You choose."

"I don't want to choose, I want you to write one for me right now."

Li Wenbo looked at Guiling: "Okay. Tell me, what font and what content?"

"I want cursive script, you can write whatever you want."

Li Wenbo laid out a four-foot sheet of Xuan paper, dipped it in ink, thought for a while, and began to write. Guiling watched from the side; it was a poem by Su Dongpo, which appeared on the paper in a flowing, elegant style: "The flowers fade, the red petals fall, the green apricots are small.

Swallows fly, green waters surround the houses.

Willow catkins on the branches are blown away, where on earth are there no fragrant grasses?

Inside the wall, a swing; outside the wall, a path. Outside the wall, a passerby;

inside the wall, a beautiful woman laughs."

The laughter faded, the sound grew quiet; the affectionate were troubled by the heartless.

This is a poem by Su Dongpo, "Butterfly Loves Flowers." After writing it, Li Wenbo signed it and stamped it with his seal. Once the ink was dry, Guiling picked it up, folded it carefully, and said happily, "Thank you, Teacher Li."

Li Wenbo said, "You are my student; it's only right that I give you a piece of calligraphy."

Guiling asked, "Teacher, when will I be able to practice cursive script?"

Li Wenbo looked at her and said, "Keep your mind calm and let nature take its course. When the time is right,

you will naturally be able to." "That's as good as saying nothing,"

Li Wenbo said with a smile. "Calligraphy is about self-cultivation. As long as you practice every day, it becomes a habit and a psychological need; calligraphy itself becomes what you seek, and you won't care about what style you practice."

As he spoke, it became late. Li Wenbo said, "I'm going to cook dinner now; you can eat here."

Li Wenbo lived in the cultural center; his studio had an inner room that served as his bedroom. The cultural center had a kitchen, and Li Wenbo cooked for himself on the gas stove every day.

Guiling said, "Let me cook for you, try my cooking."

"How can I?"

"I'm your student. Besides, you gave me a calligraphy piece, consider this my way of repaying you."

Guiling had a question in her mind: did Li Wenbo have a home? She had never seen Li Wenbo leave the cultural center for long periods, nor did he seem to have any social interactions or needs; he rarely even went to the county town. During the meal, Guiling asked, "Teacher, where do you live?"

"I don't have a home."

"Did you have one before?"

"Yes. I'm divorced."

"Why did you divorce me?"

"I only know calligraphy, not life; I'm not suited for marriage. My wife thought I lacked romance, so we divorced."

"You say you lack romance? I see great romance when you write calligraphy." "

That's your opinion. My ex-wife was uneducated; she only knew that people need to eat, she didn't know people had other needs."

"Then why don't you find someone else?"

"I don't. This is good enough. I'm really not suited for marriage."

Guiling's heart skipped a beat; she felt an urge to fall in love. She really wanted to ask, "How do you manage your sex life?"

but she was too embarrassed to ask.

Chapter 36 Guiling (3)

After that, Guiling often stayed in Li Wenbo's studio after class. She really thought Li Wenbo was very interesting, especially his demeanor when talking about calligraphy, which fascinated her.

Guiling discovered that Li Wenbo was not isolated from the outside world. Local painters, calligraphers, poets, writers and government officials often visited. Guiling would serve tea and water, and these people would always glance at her intentionally or unintentionally and make a few jokes about her and Li Wenbo. Li Wenbo liked

to drink, and he would always be half-drunk. At this time, his mood was the best. When he painted, his brushstrokes were graceful and he was very content. When he talked, he was quick-witted and witty. He rarely got really drunk.

But once Li Wenbo got drunk. That evening, two poets came from the county town. One was named Li Cunshan and the other was named Zhu Zhineng. They came to drink. The two of them were as casual as if they were at home, rummaging through drawers and cabinets looking for wine. Both of them were good at talking and even better at drinking. Li Wenbo was a heavy drinker and wasn't afraid of them, but this time the two seemed to have planned it, constantly urging Guiling to toast Li Wenbo.

After a few rounds of drinks, Li Cunshan said, "Why shouldn't the student toast the teacher?"

Guiling then toasted the teacher.

Zhu Zhineng said, "The teacher shouldn't be presumptuous; he should return the toast."

Li Wenbo toasted Guiling.

Li Cunshan then said, "Teacher, you are refined and talented, and I am beautiful and intelligent. I toast you both."

The two men, with their eloquent tongues, took turns urging each other to drink, and in the end, the four of them drank four bottles of wine, averaging about half a kilogram each. Guiling also had a decent capacity for alcohol, drinking about six liang (300ml) of wine, while Li Wenbo drank at least one jin and two liang (1.25ml). The two poets staggered away, schemingly telling Guiling to take good care of the teacher.

Li Wenbo was already unable to walk, and Guiling struggled to help him to bed, taking off his shoes and coat, and covering him with a blanket.

It was already night, and Guiling was worried, fearing something might happen to Li Wenbo that night. The child is used to sleeping with her mother-in-law at night now. It's not a big deal if she doesn't go back, but her mother-in-law will definitely say something. She thought she'd stop by Hongxia's house tomorrow morning and coordinate with Hongxia to say she stayed at her house for the night.

Having decided on her escape route, she closed the door, took off her coat, and quietly slipped into Li Wenbo's bed. She had also drunk too much, and looking at Li Wenbo's sleeping face, she slowly fell asleep as well.

She didn't know how long she slept, but she felt Li Wenbo get up. Guiling woke up and asked for water.

Guiling brought her a glass of cooled boiled water, which Li Wenbo drank in one gulp and fell asleep again. Guiling refilled the glass with hot water and let it cool, then lay down again, but couldn't fall asleep. She held Li Wenbo, who slept soundly like a child, completely unaware that he was in the arms of a beautiful woman. Guiling couldn't restrain herself any longer. She gently took off Li Wenbo's underwear, and then, covering herself up, pressed her hot body tightly against the man's. She stroked the man, from his chest to his lower body, feeling the soft little thing in her hand begin to react, gradually swelling until it was as hard as iron. Li Wenbo woke up, held the woman in his arms tightly, and kissed her deeply, deeply. The kiss was long and unchanging, their tongues tightly intertwined from beginning to end, almost suffocating Guiling.

Guiling had long been unable to bear it any longer, wanting the man to enter her, but when the kiss began, she began to enjoy it. She felt herself melting in the kiss, becoming one with this man. She had never kissed so long and unchangingly, nor had she ever enjoyed the pleasure of a kiss like this.

They were like old lovers who had been together countless times, tacitly ending their kiss at the same time, the man entering Guiling's already welcoming body. Guiling felt her body floating, as if suspended in the air, the clouds supporting her—safe, warm, and romantic…

Li Wenbo pressed down on Guiling and began to writhe. Guiling felt that his twisting was very familiar, like writing, so absorbed and absorbed, soul and spirit intertwined, free and unrestrained...

Guiling finally enjoyed the romantic and beautiful sex she had hoped for. She would have sex with Li Wenbo once or twice every week when she went to study, whether it was day or night. However, she rarely stayed overnight at Li Wenbo's place anymore. If she wanted to stay overnight, she had to think of a plan in advance so that her mother-in-law would not suspect anything. This was difficult, because the first time she stayed overnight outside, her mother-in-law did not only suspect, but believed that she had been with a man outside, which caused disharmony between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law for a long time. Despite this, Guiling felt happy and satisfied. She could not imagine how miserable her life in the countryside would have been without Li Wenbo these past few years.

Chapter 037 Guiling (4)

Dazhi called back and said that he had bought a house in Shanghai and asked Guiling to come and live in Shanghai for a long time. This was what they had been looking forward to for a long time, but Guiling was a little absent-minded and did not want to leave. Before the weekend, she couldn't wait any longer and thought of going to the cultural station to talk to Li Wenbo. She thought that if Li Wenbo said she didn't want to go, she wouldn't go; at least she would postpone it for a while.

Coincidentally, the next day was the monthly market day, and Guiling told her mother-in-law she was going to the market to buy some things. People in the countryside are used to getting up early for the market, and Guiling arrived at the cultural center at 7 a.m., only then remembering that Li Wenbo liked to sleep in. He either had friends over for chats or wrote until late at night, so he went to bed late and got up late too.

Guiling never visited Li Wenbo outside of Saturdays. She wanted to surprise him, and her heart was filled with desire as she walked, imagining herself crawling into his bed. But it was too early, and she didn't want to disturb his sleep, so she went to the market first. The market was bustling with activity, people jostling shoulder to shoulder. It seemed that, at some point, the market no longer sold only agricultural products; now at least half of the goods were industrial consumer goods from developed cities, and even some imported from abroad. Guiling had no interest in any of these; she only felt a surge of desire within her. She returned to the cultural center and checked her watch; it was only 8 o'clock. Guiling

waited in the courtyard of the cultural center for a while. Suddenly, the door to Li Wenbo's studio opened, and a young woman emerged. Guiling recognized her—it was Wu Dan, a famous painter in the county. A pang of pain shot through her heart; she realized Li Wenbo had other women, and apparently more than one.

Watching Wu Dan close the door and leave alone, Guiling knew Li Wenbo was still asleep. Her desire was extinguished like a bucket of cold water. She had considered that Li Wenbo, without a family, with his talent, fame, and popularity, shouldn't lack women. She thought this was normal; she had no right to interfere, nor did she want to. However, seeing a young, beautiful, and talented woman emerge from his room, her breasts prominently displayed, clearly having enjoyed sexual pleasure the previous night, she couldn't help but feel jealous.

Guiling turned and left. She didn't know why she felt this way. Perhaps she had truly developed feelings for this man.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. After arriving in Shanghai, Dazhi certainly provided Guiling with pleasure; however, Dazhi was increasingly busy, coming home very late every day, sometimes not until almost dawn, so they didn't spend much time together. If it weren't for Li Wenbo, she would be satisfied with the current situation, but now she was dissatisfied. She suspected Dazhi had other women, but without evidence, wild speculation was pointless. Besides, Dazhi still cared deeply for the family and was good to Guiling and the children.

Guiling had always had a good impression of Zhigang. When she first became a "left-behind woman," she wouldn't have easily sought a lover if it weren't for Zhigang. At the time, seeing that Zhigang was young and inexperienced with women, she figured he'd be easy to get, which emboldened her. But mainly, she felt that Zhigang possessed a unique quality; she couldn't quite put her finger on it, but she just liked it. Later, she met Li Wenbo and felt that although their temperaments were different, they shared some similarities—perhaps it was that intellectual air. Zhigang was only a high school student, but he must have been quite well-educated.

However, after being in Shanghai for over half a year, she hadn't had a single tryst with Zhigang, and she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. She could tell at a glance that Zhigang had another woman. She knew that Zhigang intentionally or unintentionally avoided her because he was around Dazhi and needed to be more cautious. But the passion she had been awakened by Li Wenbo was irresistible when she saw Zhigang.

Founding a school for migrant workers' children was a godsend, and Guiling didn't want to miss it. But how could she get Zhigang to stop avoiding her?

Zhigang was also troubled. His relationship with Lan Hua is now somewhat like that of an old married couple; it's normal for them to be apart for ten days or half a month, but when they are together, their passion remains strong. However, now that Lan Hua has brought his third brother and child over, he hasn't been with a woman for two months. He thought he didn't lack women, but he discovered that Lan Hua has always been his only woman, and he finds it difficult to be interested in other women. Even with Shi Yuqin, they only had sex once in a car when they had the chance, and he didn't deliberately date her when there was no opportunity.

Gui Ling is Zhi Gang's first woman and also the woman he likes the most. It's one thing not to see Gui Ling, but now he has to see her every day, and the two of them are often together in the car, which makes him feel very conflicted.

Chapter 038 Third Brother and Third Sister -in-law

Lan Hua brought her husband and daughter over because she was worried about Quan Fa's son after his accident, and also because a school had been established here, and her daughter was just of school age. She also had a hidden idea in her heart, which was to treat her husband better. Without her by her side, her third brother's erectile dysfunction could not be cured. Besides, Zhi Gang said it was a psychological reason, and the longer they were apart, the greater the psychological pressure became. After being together for a long time, spending every day in close proximity, perhaps things would naturally improve.

Third Brother's job was easy to arrange; he worked as a doorman at the neighboring village workers' quarters. Third Brother was originally a strong and vigorous man, and when they first got married, Lan Hua was completely captivated by his virility in bed, wanting to make love to him almost every day. Sometimes, when they were working in the fields together, if Third Brother was feeling particularly aroused, he couldn't wait to make love to her immediately. They would find a spot with tall grass nearby and enjoy each other's company to the fullest under the blue sky. Most of Third Brother's fields were on hillsides, surrounded by thick, tall grass, almost waist-high, so when they lay together, it was difficult for passersby to notice them. There were times when they would lie entwined, holding their breath, listening to the footsteps of others approaching and then fading away, happily smiling and gazing at each other. Sometimes they would listen to people talking or humming tunes. If a single man walked by, Third Brother would smile and look at Orchid, scanning her breasts from top to bottom with his gaze, implying that this man was available for her to enjoy. If a woman walked by, Orchid would tap Third Brother's nose, meaning that he had gotten a good deal, and this woman was for him. After these jokes, they would immediately make love again, and Orchid would have another orgasm, even longer than before.

Looking back now, Orchid still feels warmth and enjoyment. But now that Third Brother is like this, Orchid feels it is her responsibility to help him regain his virility, and she believes he can.

Third Brother always feels sorry for Orchid. People say that women in their thirties are like wolves and women in their forties are like tigers, and Orchid has just turned thirty, the age when women need sex the most, yet he cannot provide her with that. He has thought about divorce, but he knows Orchid won't. He hopes Orchid has a lover outside to compensate for his deficiency. But he doesn't dare to ask Orchid if she has a lover. More than

a month has passed since they arrived in Shanghai, and Orchid has tried with Third Brother almost every night, but without success. Each time, Orchid becomes unbearably aroused, and Third Brother helps her with his hand. The more this happens, the more inferior he feels, feeling sorry for Orchid. That night, after helping Lan Hua calm her desire, both of them were panting. Third Brother couldn't hold back any longer and said, "Lan Hua, I don't care if you've had other men before, I want you to find a man now. Don't treat me like a man anymore. Otherwise, I'll feel so guilty."

Lan Hua, with tears in her eyes, pressed her naked body tightly against Third Brother's and said, "Third Brother, I won't lie to you, I have a man. Don't feel guilty towards me, it's me who's guilty towards you. But you don't know how much I want you to recover, like on the hillside, with you inside me, not moving, listening to people walk by. Just thinking about it makes me unbearably itchy, I just want you."

Third Brother felt relieved . "I'm relieved to hear you say that. Since I'm incapable, you have the right to be. You know how much I love you; whatever you want, I'll do everything I can to satisfy you."

Orchid stroked her third brother's chest and abdomen, gently smoothing his dark pubic hair, playing with his soft member, and said softly, "Even if you're no longer capable, I'll still love you. If you don't care, I'll tell you everything. I've been with many men these past few years, but none have made me as happy as I did with you on the hillside. Really, it's so different. You used to be such a powerful man, do you know? Even if I'm no longer capable, I'll still be satisfied for you back then."

"But I don't want you to suffer. You should still enjoy happiness now and in the future."

"I'm happy now. Really."

The two relaxed as they talked, as if sex was no longer the most important thing. They appreciated and understood each other, and that was enough.

While speaking, Orchid's left hand habitually played with her third brother's genitals. As she spoke, she felt movement in her hand; his member gradually filled her small hand, and she knew her third brother was aroused. She remained calm, continuing her conversation with her third brother. This had happened many times before; whenever she told him, the intense feeling in her hand would immediately subside.

But today was different. The sensation in her hand was surging, and she thought, "Could it be working today?"

Perhaps it was because she had told him she wasn't lacking in men that his guilt lessened, and he relaxed. He really did get aroused. Lan Hua didn't say much, directly letting him enter her. Upon entering a woman's body, her third brother felt that long-lost pleasure. He didn't even have time to react before Lan Hua began to move.

Third Brother is missing an arm, and Orchid takes the initiative. He holds his wife tightly with one arm, his chest pressed against her breasts, a unique style he displays even with a missing arm. This makes Orchid feel as if she's back on the hillside, under the blue sky, the sunlight shining on their sweat. Orchid feels Third Brother become the sunlight and air, enveloping her, caressing her entire body, while she opens herself completely in the sunlight, letting it flow from her body into her bloodstream…

an unexpected climax arrives.

Chapter 39: Da Peng Gets into Trouble Again .

Da Peng's business is booming; he already has over 60 girls working for him. Construction workers far and wide know him, and his phone rings constantly. He's considering changing his clientele to increase profits, as Da Zhi suggested. Hongyan and Xiaohong are always nagging him, wanting Da Zhi to take them to a karaoke bar, but Da Zhi is always busy.

The shrewd Hongyan has long wanted to get rid of Da Peng. She knows how beautiful she is; she can tell from the way the customers treat her. She was never short of business. Dapeng had already raised her, Xiaocui's, and Xiaohong's prices to 100 yuan per session, and 300 yuan for an overnight stay. Their clientele was no longer ordinary migrant workers, but rather higher-paid foremen and foremen. She often asked for extra tips from customers, promising to give them priority next time, which they usually agreed to. Sometimes she secretly took on jobs behind Dapeng's back, keeping all the money for herself. However, ever since Dazhi praised her and Xiaocui, she felt wronged, unable to earn much money under Dapeng. She thought that if she couldn't get into the KTV, she would become a madam herself, leading a group of girls to work independently.

Things went wrong when Hongyan secretly took on jobs behind Dapeng's back. That day, Dapeng arranged for her to entertain a foreman at a nearby construction site. She had already taken on a job herself and didn't have time that night, so she secretly sent a close friend instead. Unfortunately, that friend was taken advantage of by a customer who refused to pay, and the customer even confronted Dapeng, saying he specifically requested Hongyan and hadn't sent anyone else.

Da Peng hadn't expected Hong Yan to pull this stunt. He'd long suspected Hong Yan of secretly taking on jobs behind his back, but lacked evidence and a better management method. Now that her affair was exposed, he wanted to take the opportunity to clean things up, otherwise the prostitutes might all leave. He summoned Hong Yan and gave her a good scolding, threatening to fire her if she continued like this.

This tactic worked on Hong Yan. She was still too young and inexperienced to openly challenge Da Peng. Da Peng's business had thrived in recent years mainly because he had essentially monopolized the nearby migrant worker market. Migrant workers had a hard time getting prostitutes without him, and even if they did, they had to give him a cut. Hong Yan bowed her head and admitted her mistake, promising never to take on jobs secretly again. Da Peng also promoted Hong Yan to be the head of ten prostitutes as a consolation prize. Da Peng

hadn't promoted Hong Yan before because he saw her ambition and didn't dare to give her a real role. His favorite, Xiao Hong, already managed 20 girls, so he rarely went out himself, unless an important client specifically requested her, at which point her price was several times higher, sometimes even comparable to a KTV girl's price for a wealthy client. Da Peng didn't realize that this only fueled Hong Yan's ambition and desire for more; being a minor manager was no longer enough for her.

With 10 girls under her control, it was even easier for Hong Yan to take on private jobs. She could take jobs herself, but had to report to Da Peng and hand over a portion of the fees. Hong Yan always managed to conceal a few jobs each day. She held a grudge against the client who had complained to Da Peng last time, and afterwards never went to his place herself, always sending other girls instead. That man was a foreman named Yu Xiangbin, whose salary was much higher than that of ordinary laborers, so he always chose high-priced girls like Hong Yan and Xiao Cui. However, the girls Hong Yan arranged were never good; although the prices were low, he was never satisfied, so he simply stopped asking Hong Yan to arrange girls and instead called Da Peng directly, asking him to send Xiao Cui or Xiao Hong.

Hongyan was unhappy with Yu Xiangbin's actions, as this area was originally her group's territory. Hongyan had a regular client, a foreman named Li Cheng, at another construction site. He only hired Hongyan and always paid her extra, and Hongyan was willing to work for him. Hongyan told Li Cheng about Yu Xiangbin's actions and asked him to teach him a lesson. Li Cheng took two men and followed Yu Xiangbin. When Yu Xiangbin was alone at night, they beat him up outside the construction site.

Li Cheng was careless, and Yu Xiangbin recognized him. Yu Xiangbin went back and gathered more than a dozen coworkers to settle the score with Li Cheng, and a conflict ensued. Forty or fifty people were involved in the fight, resulting in bloodshed until someone called the police. A large number of police arrived at the scene and arrested several of the rioters to stop the violence. The police took several people back to the police station for questioning. The ringleaders, Yu Xiangbin and Li Cheng, were identified. Further questioning of the two led to the unexpected exposure of a large prostitution ring operating throughout the construction sites. Dapeng is doomed.
