Chapter 1 Speculation

Night fell, and the magnificent Donghua Palace was brightly lit, as bright as day.

Eunuch Li shook his head slightly and smiled, saying, "This servant isn't hungry! As long as the Empress Dowager hasn't come out, this servant won't leave

!"

Cao Xian'e didn't press him. She knew that Eunuch Li was a loyal servant of the Empress Dowager, steadfast and unwavering in his loyalty,

even unto death. He wouldn't leave, not even if you put a knife to his throat.

This Eunuch Li was middle-aged; he had served the Empress Dowager since entering the palace over

twenty , remaining utterly loyal. Whatever the Empress Dowager asked him to do, he would do; even if she asked him
