The streets and buildings along the way were dilapidated, littered with corpses and wandering zombies. The streets, though bombarded, still hinted at their former prosperity. Attacks were now rare, as the apocalypse had passed for many years, and most of the dead were gone. People had developed a set of survival strategies.

Most survivors lived in large bases, even the smaller ones, located close to major cities. The apocalypse had also brought new resources, allowing humanity to use its ingenuity to survive.

This city, reduced to ruins, was no exception. Because it was a major road to Ghent, the surrounding zombies had been cleared away by passersby, so the number of zombies was small and it was generally safe. However, even in this desolate city, people still had to follow the city's planned roads, but we, arriving for the first time, suffered some setbacks.

The Ghent City Guard, a squad of guards in black uniforms and fully armed, boarded vehicles. A young woman in military uniform sat in the lead vehicle, listening to a report: "Reporting, Captain Ling, the remnants of the Rat Gang have been detected. They're in the ruins of the outer perimeter; the exact address has been tracked by satellite!"

The young woman nodded, her expression serious, and said, "Very good. Listen up, everyone. The Rat Gang has committed countless atrocities near our empire, severely impacting our empire's reputation and the safety of our people. Although our main force has been eliminated, we cannot let the remaining rats go! This operation will wipe them out in one fell swoop!"

The guards collectively replied, "Yes, sir!" After that, the guard vehicles drove into the desolate city.

Tang Yuying nodded, and Ding Huixin got out of the car with her gun. She pointed the gun at one of the men and shouted, "Release my companion right now! Or I'll shoot!"

The four men burst into laughter when they saw Ding Huixin, clearly experienced in this kind of thing. One of the younger men grinned wickedly and pointed the gun at her head, saying, "You slut over there, put down your gun right now, or I'll shoot!"

Ding Huixin's face turned pale, and the gun fell to the ground.

The man in the jacket smiled and pointed to the box, which was completely unmarked: "This must be extremely important to the Sunrise Empire. We must find the key and take them and their car with us!"

The four of us were placed in our car, handcuffed, and Old Ghost drove us to their base. The car stopped at the warehouse, and the two women, along with Tang Yuying, were taken out of the car. The bald man gave me a disdainful look but ignored me.

"Captain Ling, we're almost at our destination."

The girl nodded, "When we arrive, the three men from the first squad and I will search the building. Squads two, three, four, and five will stay around the perimeter to prevent anyone from escaping."

"Yes, sir!"
