I had an incestuous affair with my mother-in-law after drinking.

I traveled thousands of miles to seek my fortune, but instead won a young and beautiful wife.
I was born in southern Sichuan. After graduating from university in 1991, I was fortunate enough to be assigned to work as a secretary in the municipal government of my hometown. The following year, seeing others making a fortune from the south, I inexplicably resigned from my government job and went into business. In the unfamiliar city of Shenzhen, I toiled away. After several years, I was still penniless and single at the age of 30. Just when I was almost at my wit's end, I had the good fortune to meet my current wife, Alan—an English translator for the general manager of a large enterprise group. After meeting at a party, Alan took the initiative to pursue me, and our relationship developed rapidly. A year later, we were discussing marriage. Alan quickly agreed to take me to meet her mother.
Before this, Alan told me that her father had passed away when she was 7 years old, and her mother had been a widow for more than ten years, raising her daughter alone. Her mother was now the deputy section chief of the price bureau. I had great respect for my future mother-in-law, but at the same time, I was a little apprehensive: afraid that she would reject me, a man from out of town who was 9 years older than her daughter.
Perhaps due to her long years working in an office, my 42-year-old mother-in-law looked younger than her actual age. She maintained the dignified air characteristic of an office worker. Her first meeting was lukewarm, a perfunctory affair, which already satisfied me. And so, Alan and I held our wedding.
Since neither Alan nor I were provided with housing by our workplaces, and we couldn't afford a new apartment, my mother-in-law renovated her three-bedroom apartment and gave us one room as our new home.
I always felt a sense of restraint around my mother-in-law. Firstly, perhaps because of her status as an "official" or "mother," she maintained a reserved demeanor in my presence; secondly, she was 12 years older than me, and calling her "Mom" always felt a little awkward. Fortunately, Alan was lively and charming, managing to navigate between my mother-in-law and me smoothly, preventing the atmosphere from becoming stiff.
Later, Alan's company was setting up a branch in the United States and assigned her to participate in the preparatory work for nine months. Before her departure, Alan hugged me and cried her heart out. I solemnly promised my wife, "I will miss you day and night, and I eagerly await your successful return."
After my wife went abroad, my "mother-son relationship" with my mother-in-law changed .
After Alan left, the "family of three" consisted only of me and my mother-in-law, living together day and night, sharing meals. My mother-in-law gradually became more talkative, both by the television and at the dinner table. The topics evolved from casual greetings to more serious discussions. Since I'm the kind of man who can't take care of himself, my mother-in-law took care of everything, even secretly washing my underwear. For some reason, I felt my relationship with my mother-in-law becoming increasingly harmonious. Her "motherly" reserve disappeared, and the "generational" distinction seemed to fade. Only then did I realize that my mother-in-law was actually a very talkative woman, with many unique insights into career and life, and such a deep understanding of human nature and relationships that I secretly admired. Gradually, a close and tacit understanding developed between us.
Then, a chance event unexpectedly shattered the balance between me and my mother-in-law, causing a profound and subtle change in our "mother-son" relationship.
It was an afternoon three months after Alan went abroad when my mother-in-law was hit by a car on her way home from work. Upon hearing the news, I rushed to the hospital. My mother-in-law was in bed, hooked up to an IV drip, her right foot comminuted fractured. For several days, I took leave from work and stayed by her side day and night, running errands, changing her IV, getting her medication, making soup, and bringing her water, my eyes bloodshot from exhaustion. Her fellow patients in the ward praised her for having such a young and devoted husband, and my mother-in-law smiled without correcting them.
A month later, my mother-in-law recovered and was discharged. Upon returning home, she immediately cooked me a delicious roast suckling pig and other of my favorite dishes, and even bought me a "Red Bean" suit for 1900 yuan. I initially thought this was my mother-in-law's way of repaying me for taking care of her in the hospital, but later I vaguely felt that its meaning went far beyond that. After that, a smile always graced my mother-in-law's lips, her face was rosy, and her tone of voice when addressing me became very soft and gentle. At the dinner table, she kept ordering food for me, her eyes shining with a gleaming light. She used to dislike watching sports channels, but now she often sat next to me on the sofa watching things like the Chinese Super League. Her clothing was also subtly changing. In the past, she would usually shower after I had gone to bed, but lately she would shower early after dinner, swaying in front of me in just a thin bra. All these signs made me feel that something was quietly and passionately surging in my mother-in-law's gleaming eyes, a surging current intimately connected to me.
My senses were soon encountered in the hazy, drunken state of that particular night.
I couldn't lift my head under the weight of "incest."
That New Year's Eve, Alan was in New York and couldn't return home. Under the soft light, my mother-in-law and I sat facing each other, eating our reunion dinner. That night, my mother-in-law and I drank and talked for a long, long time, forgetting each other's ages and identities. My mother-in-law's face flushed red and she suddenly threw herself into my arms and cried… That night, I was so drunk I was completely unconscious, and I don't know how I got to bed.
When I woke up in the morning, I found myself naked, and only then did I understand what had happened the night before. I was shocked. At breakfast, my mother-in-law brought out a large bowl of steaming poached eggs from the kitchen, her face flushed with shyness.
I must get over this "incestuous" affair
. This was undoubtedly a crucial decision for me. That night, I walked alone on the street and lit a cigarette. I thought about many things. First, I thought about my wife, Alan—a lively and kind girl who had experienced the emotional pain and struggle of having her love stolen, and what choices, balances, and coordination she made between family and love.
I thought about my mother-in-law—a woman past her prime, still charming. In fact, she wasn't promiscuous; she had endured many years of hardship as a widow for her daughter. She earned widespread praise for her unwavering adherence to traditional wifely virtues. What secrets lay hidden deep within her heart and emotions?
This made me think of myself. Am I a despicable and base man? I remember from the time I first fell in love, I always upheld my beliefs about love, vowing never to be a fickle man, never to have any physical intimacy with a woman other than my wife. In fact, I kept my word until I was 30. But why, when my wife was abroad for a few months, did I end up in another woman's bed? I deeply love Alan, but I betrayed my promise to her, and I betrayed my own beliefs about love. How can I explain this betrayal? The development of my affair with my mother-in-law was not solely her doing; I also played a tacit role. Is this love, or incest?… I am confused. As a man, I must overcome this confusion…
Reflections: After reading this article, I simply don't know what to say! My heart was deeply shaken, just like the protagonist in that story. As a man, I feel ashamed of the wife's selflessness and magnanimity! I believe that neither the mother nor the husband in the story was wrong, and even if they were, their mistakes were corrected in time. The mother was undoubtedly great and hardworking; many years of widowhood had left her lonely and miserable! She was also a woman who needed a man's care and love! It was precisely at this time that the husband appeared, which was undoubtedly an arrangement of fate. As the daughter, when she learned of her husband's infidelity and her mother's "shamelessness," although she was filled with resentment, she buried this pain deep in her heart because of her love for her mother, her love for her husband, and her responsibility to her family! I truly think she is so great! At the same time, I also envy that man; he is incredibly lucky to have married such a woman! I don't know if the story is true or not! But I still wish them: "A happy and joyful family, and healthy children!"
Having an affair with one's mother-in-law is against human ethics. Although the parties involved may offer a more humane explanation for such an event, no matter how they explain it, it is insufficient to absolve themselves.
