[The Tragic Chronicles of a Wealthy Family - Continued] Chapter 182

【The Tragic Chronicles of a Wealthy Family - Continued】
Author: Zeng Jiu,
First published on December 5, 2014. In a quiet and elegant villa area near the sea in the western suburbs of 182wy, Dr. A Xun, dressed in casual clothes, sat leisurely in the living room of a villa nestled among green trees
. This was Dr. A Xun's seaside villa, not far from the VIP ward of St. Mary's Royal Hospital. Recently, the city had been in turmoil due to the Orange Scarf Gang, so Dr. A Xun often stayed here overnight. Most importantly, two uninvited guests had arrived at his home today. On the sofa next to Dr. A Xun sat Long Kun, dressed casually, while on the single sofa opposite Dr. A Xun sat Long Kun's subordinate, A Jian. The servants served coffee to the guests and hosts, then were ushered out of the living room by Dr. A Xun. Dr. A Xun closed the door tightly and looked at Long Kun with a grin, saying, "Master Long, what brings you here today? Is it...?" He guessed that Long Kun had come again for Chu Yun, so he teased him with a playful smile. "How's Yunnu been lately?" Long Kun asked casually. "Hehe, she's been busy with something the other day, never home. But she's been quiet these days , obediently staying with me to prepare for childbirth." "Oh, is she going to give birth so soon?" "Ahem..." Ah Xun blinked and said, "Her official due date is next week. But as you know , it's actually about two weeks away. I'm thinking of giving her some oxytocin to get her to give birth sooner, so no one will feel uneasy." "Is she in the hospital now?" Long Kun asked. "Yes, she moved in a couple of days ago. Her husband comes to stay with her from time to time, it's annoying." "So it's not very convenient to see Yunnu now?" Long Kun frowned. "Yeah. But with Yunnu's big belly, it's not very fun." "Hmph, who hasn't played with a pregnant woman! Fengnu was carrying twins, and I still played with her until she gave birth." Long Kun said disdainfully. "That's true, that's what Master Long meant..." Ah Xun couldn't help but worry. If Long Kun insisted on going to play with Chu Yun at this time, he might expose himself and ruin everything. But Long Kun shook his head and said, "No rush. I'm here today to ask Dr. Ah Xun for help with something else." " Oh..." Ah Xun's eyes darted around, thinking to himself, "I wonder which troublesome woman Long Kun has taken a fancy to this time, and wants me to help him sort her out. " But Long Kun smiled slightly and said, "I'd like to ask Dr. Ah Xun to help me find a quiet place in WY for a few days." "A quiet place?" Ah Xun was stunned, wondering what Long Kun was up to. His mind raced: the Orange Scarf Gang had been causing a huge uproar in WY lately, and it all seemed to be related to Long Kun's actions in the mountains. Was he going to come to WY to interfere? A thought struck him: Could it be that Long Kun had his eye on the VIP ward of St. Mary's Hospital, wanting to hide there and remotely control the political situation to protect his newly rebuilt power in the northern mountains? This thought immediately caused Ah Xun considerable distress. Since Chu Yun was currently in the VIP ward, and he was her attending physician, Ah Xun certainly had the final say in her hospital room; hiding Long Kun there for a few days wouldn't be difficult. But Chu Yun was about to give birth, and once she left, Ah Xun would be nothing there. Inviting someone is easy, but sending them away is difficult; what if Long Kun decided to stay and refuse to leave? He truly didn't know what to do. After a moment's thought, Ah Xun tentatively asked Long Kun, his heart pounding with unease, "What kind of place is Master Long looking for? How long will you be staying?" Without hesitation, Long Kun replied, "In WY City, preferably somewhere quiet amidst the hustle and bustle. As for how long… maybe a month or two, maybe three to five months, I haven't decided yet." "Oh…" Long Kun's words relieved Ah Xun; it seemed Long Kun wasn't after the VIP ward. Ah Xun was speechless for a moment, secretly calculating in his mind. Actually, Ah Xun had only seen the surface of the riddle, not the answer. Long Kun's arrival in WY wasn't to influence the political situation, but rather to "seek peace and quiet." It turned out that recently, Long Kun had noticed some ominous signs. He had successfully eliminated his biggest threat, Deng Min, through the border river massacre and was feeling quite pleased with himself. But his smugness hadn't lasted long before he discovered that things weren't going entirely according to his plan. First, after Deng Min was killed, Long Kun discovered that the various anti-drug forces hadn't given up; instead, they were relentlessly pursuing him. They first almost completely blocked the drug trafficking routes, then deployed aircraft to carry out devastating attacks on his plantation bases, making him vaguely aware that their focus had shifted to him. Then he discovered that the border river massacre hadn't ended with Deng Min's death. Through his informants , he learned that not only Pinong himself, but all the soldiers who had participated in the border river interception operation with him remained under house arrest. Moreover, strangers had been frequently entering and leaving Pinong's residence recently. He sent someone disguised to infiltrate Pinong's residence, and the news they returned with made him even more uneasy: the strangers frequently entering and leaving Pinong's residence were actually investigators from Thailand. They were repeatedly questioning Pinong about the details of the interception of the Thai ships on the border river and all information about the informant. If the previous feelings were merely lingering worries, now the sense of crisis was real. Clearly, the T countrymen weren't going to give up, and their target was practically obvious. He then received new intelligence: Suwen reported that many unfamiliar faces had appeared in the Mianbo area, wandering the streets and alleys, seemingly observing something. Even more alarming, Yepeng's men reported that strangers had been frequently spotted in the mountains, inquiring about the cultivation of golden seedlings from the villagers. Even in the mountains near Long Kun's old lair, Eagle's Nest, they had been spotting traces of strangers. Long Kun's sensitive heart immediately stirred with the urge to flee, to escape the danger. He struggled to suppress the impulse to escape to the Water Cave and reunite with Mengchong's group. He believed that even if the T countrymen suspected him, they couldn't have foreseen that he had turned Dengmin's secret base into his own stronghold. Dengmin had been wiped out for so long, yet the Water Cave...

The fact that nothing happened proves that the secrets there haven't been leaked.
More importantly, Long Kun's life and fortune are now almost entirely tied to the water cave. Raw materials, finished products,
his brothers, and most of his men are all there. Since opening the passage to the KS Independent Army, the water cave has been
continuously generating astonishing wealth for Long Kun. He doesn't expect it to be at his disposal forever. He only needs
three to six months to turn the raw materials into finished products and ship them to Europe and America, and he can rest easy.
Therefore, he can't go there. Even if he's being watched by the T country, he can't divert their attention to the water
cave.
Actually, Long Kun could also go to LS. A cunning rabbit has three burrows. Since his comeback, Long Kun has
laid out a trap in LS, where he also controls a gold seedling planting base. Moreover, after acquiring Deng Min's water cave drug factory
, the drug-making equipment he purchased last time, which was idle, was also all shipped to LS.
In fact, Long Kun had footholds not only in LS (Singapore), but also in neighboring Singapore, Malaysia, Java, and Luzon.
However, Long Kun didn't believe he needed to flee to those places yet. He still had important matters to attend to.
Therefore, he chose WY, a place he was familiar with, as his hiding place.
WY was currently in chaos due to the Orange Scarf Gang and the Purple Scarf Gang. He believed that even if
the T (Taiwanese) turned their attention to him, they wouldn't be able to find him in such a chaotic and disorderly place
.
More importantly, he had a crucial asset in WY that he needed to manage.
He had transported almost all the large quantity of goods he obtained from Deng Min to WY, hoping to ship them worldwide. Unexpectedly,
his path was blocked right at the start. Although some goods had been shipped via the Xi Wan family's cargo ships, most of the goods hadn't
been sold yet. Selling all of these goods would be enough for him and his men to live on for several lifetimes. Therefore,
he wouldn't give up unless absolutely necessary.
The border river is now blocked by T country, and these goods can no longer be transported out. The only way out is to sell
them in WY. But given the size of the WY market, it will probably take at least three to five years. Therefore, he needs to arrange
everything here. He needs to safely hide the goods and integrate the channels he just took over from Deng Min. Only then
can he make a safe escape. His ideal next foothold is to establish a base in the territory of the KS Independent Army
. That place is an independent kingdom, which the B country government cannot touch, and even T country is too far away to interfere
.
In WY, Long Kun does not plan to go to his own footholds. He believes that if T country wants to find
him, they will find those places sooner or later. He wants to go to a
place that the T country people would never think of. So he thought of Ah Xun.
Ah Xun is a respectable gentleman in WY, and no one would think that he has
any connection with Long Kun. Therefore, having him provide a place to hide is a sure thing. Besides, Chu
Yun was also there. Compared to Man Feng, who had been played with by men, she was still a great beauty. With Ah Xun's cover, Long Kun was
confident he would have plenty of opportunities to try something new. So he brought Ah Jian to Ah Xun's villa.
Long Kun, with his own little scheme in mind, looked at Ah Xun with a smile, waiting for his reply. Ah Xun was also feeling very conflicted. Although he had always helped Long Kun a lot and had even gotten involved with rare beauties like
Man Feng and Chu Yun through his connections , he still didn't want to get involved with Long Kun in a place like WY . But now that Long Kun had come to him, specifically asking him to find him a place to stay, he couldn't refuse. What should he do? Ah Xun was really torn. After thinking it over, Ah Xun sighed inwardly, gritted his teeth, and made up his mind. Actually, he wasn't without a place to accommodate Long Kun; the problem was that he couldn't tie himself to Long Kun, otherwise, if something happened to Long Kun, he himself would be doomed. He needed a solution that satisfied both sides. But he knew that Long Kun had leverage over him, and to escape Long Kun's demands unscathed, he had to reluctantly give up his possession. Ah Xun had a house that perfectly suited Long Kun's needs. This property originally belonged to one of Ah Xun's female patients, who became Ah Xun's patient due to breast cancer. This wealthy woman was naturally promiscuous, and after becoming acquainted with Ah Xun, they began an affair. To facilitate their rendezvous, she secretly purchased this secluded property without her family's knowledge. Later, the female patient's cancer metastasized, and before her death, she bequeathed the house to Ah Xun. After taking over, Ah Xun turned the house into a place for his occasional rendezvous with his secret lovers. To be on the safe side, he never transferred the property title; it remained in the name of the deceased wealthy woman. Neither his family nor his colleagues knew of the house's existence, and Ah Xun was the true mastermind. Therefore, if Long Kun used the house and something went wrong, the investigation would only trace back to a dead man; no one would link it to Ah Xun. He believed that all the women who had visited the house would keep quiet about it . Thinking this, Ah Xun forced a smile at Long Kun and said, "Since Master Long has spoken, how could Ah Xun dare disobey?" He then cautiously observed Long Kun's reaction and continued, "I do have a place, quite comfortable, but I don't know if it will satisfy Master Long." "Oh, where is it?" Long Kun asked with interest. "In the center of WY city. A two-story building, detached, enough for three to five people." Seeing Long Kun's eyes light up, Ah Xun deliberately hesitated for a moment and said, "That place used to be very nice, but it's been a bit chaotic lately..." "Where in the city?" Long Kun asked seriously. Ah Xun gave a wry smile and said, "It's just one street away from the Prime Minister's residence..." "That's great!" Long Kun slapped his thigh excitedly, startling Ah Xun. Long Kun excitedly leaned closer to Ah Xun and said, "I know the area around the Prime Minister's residence. That's WY's wealthy district. It's been a bit chaotic lately, with the Orange Scarf Gang causing trouble there. But I'm not afraid. The more chaotic it is, the safer it is, right? I won't mind their noise, hehe... " Suddenly, his eyes lit up, and he said to Ah Xun, "But, Ah Xun's family, friends, and colleagues often go there, right? That would be very inconvenient."

Ah Xun shook his head firmly and said, "Don't worry, Master Long, none of my relatives or friends know about this place."
Long Kun nodded with a smile, "That's great. Would it be convenient for you to take us there?"
"Now?"
"Yes, right now. There's no time to lose."
"Alright." Ah Xun nodded helplessly and stood up. Seeing this, Long Kun winked at Ah Xun and
waved to Ah Jian. Ah Jian opened the backpack at his feet and magically pulled out several orange-yellow clothes and hats
. Ah Xun looked closely and realized that it was the standard attire of the Orange Scarf Gang. The group smiled knowingly, picked up the clothes and hats,
dressed themselves up, and put on large masks, becoming members of the Orange Scarf Gang that could be seen everywhere on the street.
Ah Xun and Long Kun looked at each other and laughed.
The three of them went out of the room together, and Ah Xun then realized that Long Kun had driven a Mitsubishi double-cab pickup truck, which
was covered with Orange Scarf Gang graffiti. The three of them got into the car, Ah Jian drove, and Ah Xun sat next to him and gave directions. Ah Jian quietly started
the car and drove silently out of the villa.
Under Ah Xun's direction, the car skillfully blended into the orange sea of people in WY City. With the graffiti
covering its face, it was completely inconspicuous; anyone would naturally assume it was
one of the Orange Scarf group's support vehicles roaming the city. Furthermore, it was already late, and in the dim light, no one would notice the
unusual presence of the three people in the car.
The closer they got to the city center, the more difficult the roads became, filled with Orange Scarf group demonstrators. Under Ah Xun's direction, the car
deliberately took back roads, and about an hour later, they approached the block where the Prime Minister's residence was located.
The pickup truck struggled to navigate among the crowds and tents scattered haphazardly along the streets. In the distance,
several bonfires could be seen burning in the small square outside the Prime Minister's residence. On one side of the bonfires was a dense mass of Orange Scarf group
members, and on the other side were rows of police officers holding shields, standing ready. Behind the police, camouflaged
military vehicles were faintly visible. The shouts from the Orange Scarf group rose and fell like ocean waves, and occasionally
streaks of fire could be seen flying over the crowd towards the military and police ranks.
Ah Xun shook his head with a wry smile, directing Ah Jian to turn a corner and enter a small street. Although it
was very close to the Prime Minister's residence, it was eerily quiet. Not a single person could be seen on the street, and the houses on both sides were
completely dark, without a single light.
Long Kun knew this was a well-known wealthy area in WY. However, with the Prime Minister's residence in such chaos
, the residents had probably already fled.
Suddenly, Ah Xun raised his hand, signaling Ah Jian to stop the car. His hand moved slightly, and a low,
deep sound faintly came from nearby. Long Kun looked closely and saw a roller shutter door slowly rising on the back wall of an inconspicuous small building
. A moment later, the door opened wide, and Ah Xun gestured for Ah Jian to drive in.
The roller shutter door slowly closed behind them. By the light of the car headlights, Long Kun and A Jian could see that this
was a two-car garage, and one car was already parked inside. A Xun jumped out of the car and turned on the garage
lights. Long Kun and A Jian followed suit.
A Xun looked around, called out, opened a small door at the far end of the garage, and led the way out.
After climbing a few steps and passing through a corridor, Long Kun and A Jian followed A Xun to a spacious area. A
Xun first went to the large French windows that let in a faint light, drew the curtains tightly, and then reached out to turn on the lights. This turned out
to be a spacious living room, elegantly and comfortably decorated.
Long Kun and A Jian looked around and found that besides the living room, there was a study, a kitchen, a bathroom
, and a small bedroom. They guessed these were the servants' or bodyguards' quarters.
Next to the living room was a wide staircase. Long Kun winked at A Jian, who turned on
the light beside the stairs and tiptoed up. Long Kun followed A Jian upstairs, with A Xun following behind them with a wry smile
.
Upstairs were four bedrooms and two bathrooms. Long Kun looked around. He found the house
fully furnished and tidy, with the curtains drawn tightly, not letting in a ray of light.
However, the spotless bathrooms indicated that someone was taking care of the place.
A Xun noticed Long Kun's confusion and explained softly, "A housekeeping company sends someone to clean here every month.
But don't worry, the person who pays is a lady whose identity no one can trace. I can tell them to stop cleaning. You
can stay here without worry; no one will bother you."
Long Kun walked into the luxuriously decorated master bedroom, peeked into the bathroom, then went to the window and lifted
a corner of the curtain to look outside. Not far outside was the Prime Minister's residence, bustling with people and ablaze with fire,
yet inside, there was hardly any noise. Long Kun lowered the curtains and nodded silently.
Seeing that Long Kun had seen enough, Ah Xun led them downstairs. As they walked, he asked, "Master Long,
are you satisfied here?"
Long Kun nodded, saying, "It's a quiet place amidst the hustle and bustle."
They returned to the living room, and the three sat on the sofa. Ah Xun took two sets of keys from his purse and
handed them to Long Kun, saying, "It's very safe here. There are no security cameras in this alley behind; you can walk without worry."
He then glanced at Long Kun, noticing a slight furrow in his brow and a hint of something in his eyes. Suddenly, he slapped
his forehead, opened the front door, and went out. Long Kun watched Ah Xun's actions from behind the door. He saw Ah Xun walk to the front gate,
fiddle under the mailbox, and seem to take something.
Ah Xun returned to the living room and closed the front door tightly. He stretched out his hand, and a set of keys appeared in his palm. Ah Xun
handed the key to Long Kun, saying, "This is the key used by the housekeeping company; no one else has the key to this place. I
'll inform the housekeeping company tomorrow that they don't need to send anyone to clean. You can rest assured, Master Long, that you're staying here."
Long Kun finally relaxed and smiled contentedly.
Seeing that the arrangements were almost complete, Ah Xun tactfully got up to take her leave: "Master Long, please get some rest. No
one will know you're staying here. If you need anything, just let me know..."
At this point, Ah Xun seemed to hesitate for a moment, took a deep breath, and looked at Long Kun, saying, "However, if you want Yun
Nu to serve you... it would be best to wait a few days. She's probably due to give birth in the next few days; her belly is quite large, and..."
"...And the Xiwan family has been practically inseparable these past few days. I'm afraid Yunnu won't be able to satisfy Master Long...
"
"What could possibly stump our Dr. Xun? Yunnu is right in your little brother's hands. Even
under that old bastard Shawa's nose, we can still do whatever we want with her!" Long Kun
said to Xun with a forced smile.
Seeing Xun's face turn red, he chuckled and said, "Just kidding with Dr. Xun. I
won't give Dr. Xun any trouble. I'm busy these days, so let Yunnu have a few days off. Let
her serve us after she gives birth."
Hearing Long Kun's words, Xun secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He smiled at Long Kun and A Jian, said hello,
picked up his briefcase from the sofa, and turned to walk towards the garage. But he had only taken two steps when
a series of loud explosions suddenly rang out outside, rattling the doors and windows. Ah Xun was jolted, frozen in place.
Long Kun, a veteran of many battles, reacted first, muttering, "Gunfire." He turned and
darted up the stairs, a pistol appearing in his hand. Ah Jian also quickly drew his gun
, darting into a blind spot behind the door, his eyes fixed on it.
Ah Xun hesitated briefly before following Long Kun upstairs. He saw Long Kun hadn't turned on the lights, guns in both hands, hiding
behind the curtains, his eyes glued to the window.
Long Kun clearly realized Ah Xun had followed. He didn't turn around, but waved for Ah Xun to
come closer. Ah Xun cautiously approached the window, looked outside, and was immediately shocked. The situation outside had drastically
changed.
The increasingly deafening gunfire was coming from the direction of the Prime Minister's residence, and in the night light,
tracer rounds could be seen flying like locusts. Strangely, the barrage of bullets was heading towards the backyard of the residence.
A short while later, another burst of bullets erupted, this time heading towards the square in front of the Prime Minister's residence.
Only then did Ah Xun realize that the backyard of the Prime Minister's residence was ablaze, while
the flames that had just illuminated half the sky in the square in front of the residence were now dimmed. Amidst the crackling gunfire,
the screams and cries of people could be faintly heard.
"What happened?" Ah Xun and Long Kun exchanged a glance, noticing that Long Kun had somehow
put away his gun. Suddenly remembering something, he said to Long Kun, "Live on TV..." and
rushed downstairs.
Ah Jian, who was guarding downstairs, was peeking out from behind a window, clearly no longer as tense as before
. Long Kun, following behind Ah Xun, shook his head at Ah Jian and said, "The Prime Minister's residence has become a huge mess, but it's not aimed at us."
Ah Jian nodded, his eyes still warily fixed on the window.
Ah Xun sat on the sofa and expertly turned on the television. After switching channels several times, he discovered that
all the TV stations that had been broadcasting the demonstration in front of the Prime Minister's residence had stopped broadcasting, and the screens were filled with static.
Ah Xun was dumbfounded, but Long Kun smiled calmly and said to him, "Don't bother looking anymore, something big has happened.
If you want to leave, Dr. Ah Xun, I advise you to leave immediately. Martial law will probably be imposed soon."
Ah Xun turned off the TV and glanced at Long Kun anxiously. Long Kun shook his head nonchalantly and said, "We're
fine here, you don't need to worry. The more chaotic it is outside, the better, I can get things done."
Ah Xun nodded and said to Long Kun, "Then I'll take my leave. Please let me know if you need anything, Mr. Long." He
then grabbed his briefcase, ran to the basement, started his car, and disappeared
into the darkness amidst the gradually fading gunfire.
