Beautiful Xishuangbanna

Before coming to Xishuangbanna, I heard a song called "Where Is My Home?", the theme song of a family drama series called "The Debt of Sin." The lyrics go: "I can't keep my father here, Shanghai is so big, is there a home for me? My father has one home, my mother has one home, and I'm left alone, feeling like I'm superfluous..."
These are the stories of several educated young people, full of passion and ambition, who answered the call of their country to go to Yunnan to support the frontier. In this beautiful place, they left behind their fiery youth and shed their loyal blood. On the soil of the Liusha River and rubber plantations, they fell in love, married, and had their child.
But time flies, and a decade later, the surging tide of the return journey pushed this group of once young, now very realistic, individuals to the shores of the big city. They left this beautiful land, but what they gave up was not only the rubber plantations and coconut trees, but also their love and their child.
Later, five children born in the 1990s boarded a train to Shanghai to find their biological parents who had given birth to them and then abandoned them. Their fathers or mothers, however, had returned to the city, remarried, and had new children. Their arrival was undoubtedly a ticking time bomb for their biological parents who had already moved on…
This is a poignant story reflecting reality. Before setting foot on the land of Xishuangbanna, I listened to this song again.
The lyrics say, “I couldn’t keep my father.” Its beauty and magic held an invisible attraction for me, and the romantic love story that unfolded in beautiful Xishuangbanna made me want to witness its enchanting charm firsthand.
