, my wife and I met at a friend's gathering. My first impression of her was that she was beautiful, outgoing, and had a high alcohol tolerance. She, on the other hand, saw me as a gentleman, because I really can't drink. Beer is okay, but four ounces of baijiu (Chinese liquor) is enough to make me completely drunk. That night, my wife even helped me avoid drinking several times, probably because she was sitting next to me and saw me blushing from head to toe; she couldn't bear to

see me like that. Later, I learned that my wife is from a single-parent family, raised by her mother alone. She seems invincible, like a strong woman, but deep down she's incredibly vulnerable, like water, easily moved to tears, which seems very different from her appearance. Our similar upbringing (I'm also from a single-parent family) gave us more in common than with other friends; we deeply empathized with the hardships our mothers faced raising us.

In the early stages of our relationship, my wife and I unanimously agreed that after we got married, we would bring her mother to live with us so that the two elderly people could have company and we could focus on our work. Before the wedding, my wife was busy with everything: booking hotels, finding wedding planning companies, taking wedding photos, and choosing our honeymoon destination. She handled everything, and I only offered my opinions.

My wife is a very strong-willed woman at heart; everything has to go her way, otherwise she'll be sullen for a while. When decorating our wedding home, I fully experienced her domineering nature. She almost drove the construction workers crazy over the living room ceiling design. If it wasn't right the first time, she'd do it twice; if it wasn't right the second time, she'd do it three times; if it wasn't right the third time, she'd tear it down and redo it. In short, she's a complete perfectionist.

Therefore, since then, I've gotten into the habit of letting my wife make the decisions; I only offer suggestions for reference. After the wedding date was set, I invited a few of my best buddies to be my groomsmen, and my wife invited a few of her best friends to be her bridesmaids. On the wedding day, it was as grand and lively as I had imagined. After the entire ceremony, everyone present had tears in their eyes—perhaps this is a common tactic used by wedding planning companies.

Fortunately, after the ceremony, everyone had a great time in the bridal suite, playing games and telling jokes—it was like a live stand-up comedy show. Ah Liang, a well-known handsome guy in our company, was also very good at the game; he always won, and everyone else almost always lost. After a few bottles of baijiu (Chinese liquor), everyone was quite drunk, but the other friends were unwilling to give up and wanted to continue the game.

So I went and got three more bottles of baijiu. By then, I was already quite drunk, and I was staggering. My wife and A-Liang were the biggest drinkers in our group. While I was fast asleep, they were still drinking, "Tiger, stick, chicken, tiger, stick, chicken..."

On our wedding night, I thought everyone would leave after they had their fun, but when I sobered up, I found my wife sleeping in bed with A-Liang, and I was under the bed. The day after our wedding, I asked my wife for a divorce. She thought I was making a mountain out of a molehill and being unreasonable, but life is so long, and I didn't want to live in this shadow, compromising myself.
