Experts suggest that given the gender imbalance with more men than women, the possibility of polyandry should be considered.

Experts suggest: With more men than women, should polygamy be considered? Is society regressing or progressing? ( Original

emotional essay by Hu Yang Yingyue,
DaYuhao , June 6th. Follow the author: Hu Yang Yingyue ) According to a June 3rd report in Phoenix Weekly, Huang Youguang, a globally renowned Chinese economist who has long studied happiness, a specially appointed professor at the School of Economics of Fudan University, and an academician of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences, wrote in an article titled "How Can Chinese People Be Happier": "Due to the previous one-child policy and the preference for having sons, China's male-to-female ratio is severely imbalanced, with approximately 117 men for every 100 women. This means that tens of millions of men of marriageable age will be unable to find wives. One way to partially alleviate this problem is to legalize brothels, allowing those without wives to partially satisfy their needs by purchasing legal and relatively reliable sexual services. Preventing them from legalizing..." Sex work severely infringes upon a person's right to sexual satisfaction. Is this a good way to build a harmonious society? Professor Huang Youguang also stated: "If a man chooses to have two husbands, compared to marrying his own wife, the impact on others includes, on the one hand, slightly increasing the chances for other men to find wives; on the other hand, slightly reducing the range of potential partners for other women. At least in a situation where there are more men than women, the former's benefits clearly outweigh the latter's drawbacks. Therefore, based on the impact on others, in the context of China's gender imbalance, there should be reasons to encourage polyandry, not reasons to prohibit it." I wonder what readers think of Professor Huang Youguang's ideas of legalizing brothels and polyandry? Perhaps some applaud, or perhaps some feel horrified. At least for me personally, I cannot accept it! Everyone knows that polygamy refers to a man marrying two or more women simultaneously. Similarly, polyandry refers to a woman marrying two or more men simultaneously. Undeniably, in some countries, and even in a few regions of China, a small number of polyandrous marriages still exist. Generally, polyandrous marriages can be categorized into three types: 1. Brothers from the same family sharing one wife; 2. Cousins from distant relatives sharing one wife; 3. Two or more unrelated men with a good relationship sharing one wife. As everyone knows, since the promulgation of the Marriage Law of the People's Republic of China on May 1, 1950, polygamy has been completely abolished in China. Furthermore, most countries in the world now practice monogamy. This is a sign of social progress and civilization! However, currently... Economist Professor Huang Youguang has suggested that given the gender imbalance, a polyandrous system might be considered. Do you think you can accept a polyandrous marriage system? A polygynous system would undoubtedly leave some men without wives; a polyandrous system would also undoubtedly leave some men without husbands! I think both situations would significantly increase the likelihood of certain sexual offenses and are one of the root causes of social disorder. In fact, if Professor Huang Youguang's concern is truly about implementing a polyandrous marriage system due to the current gender imbalance, I think it would be better to consider intermarriage with countries where women outnumber men (such as Ukraine, known for its beautiful women) rather than risk creating instability in our stable society. This would solve our gender imbalance problem, promote friendship and harmonious relations between countries, and contribute to social stability. Experts suggest: Given the gender imbalance, should polygamy be considered? Do you think this is appropriate?
