Growing up in the countryside, I always looked forward to festivals. Spring Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival were the two most important holidays. Perhaps it was because the standard of living was low then, and families only improved their meals during festivals; perhaps it was because there were holidays, and there were always entertainment activities where we could play to our hearts' content; perhaps it was a combination of both. In short, the adults were busy during festivals, while we carefree children were the happiest. During Spring Festival, although it coincided with the off-season for farming, it always felt like a busy time. Only Mid-Autumn Festival brought a special joy, a sense of peace, and a special longing. Looking back, it seems it was due to a difference in mindset.

It's the culmination because the summer harvest is still fresh in our minds; it's the beginning because autumn arrives with its bountiful harvest, filling people with the joy of impending success. I think only those who have experienced rural life can truly understand this feeling, this state of mind, and this profound inner sense.
I love the atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Under the round moonlight, round mooncakes, ripe apples, and pears, grapes, and other fruits are all on the market. Under the moonlight, people enjoy the festive food and talk about the harvest. While admiring the moon, they think of their loved ones far away. Indeed, "On every festive occasion, one thinks of loved ones."
Lonely people always remember everyone who has appeared in their lives, and so I always think of you with lingering affection on every starlit night, counting my loneliness again and again.
