The Journey That's Getting Further and Further Away (Part 3)

Before we knew it, we'd both drunk quite a bit, so we booked a room nearby. What should have happened, and what shouldn't have happened, all occurred in our tipsy state.
Afterwards, this female character chatted with me in the game. Sometimes I'd reply, sometimes I'd pretend to be offline. Actually, she, like me, was deliberately avoiding the intimacy of that night.
Later, this female character married someone in the game, and they played together.
That winter, my company was working on a natural gas station construction project in another city, and I was quite busy and tired, so I couldn't log into my game account every day.
One afternoon, I had some free time and planned to log in, only to find that someone else had logged into my account. Only she knew my account.
I sat in front of the computer for a while, my mind racing.
I actually wanted to forget her, to live a good life with my wife and children. But often, in the hazy moments of midnight, I couldn't help but think of her face. I knew I had fallen in love with her!
Some say that in this lifetime, one can only truly love one person. I used to think that was true, but since meeting her, I've realized that the human heart is like the sea, capable of holding far more than just one person.
After a while, she texted me with three words: "Go ahead!"
I entered the game, and she messaged me privately: "Are you alright?"
I replied: "Pretty good."
She was silent for a long time, then sent a few words: "I'm sorry!
" Life doesn't offer so many apologies. Right or wrong, it's all a choice. Besides, everyone has a husband and wife. Meeting at the wrong time, in the wrong place, in the wrong place—it was a mistake from the start.
She said that because I hadn't played the game for several months, she was too lonely in the game, which is why she played with that person.
I said, "That's fine too. People, especially women, are never content with loneliness."
My words clearly stung her. She said, "In your heart, am I a very casual woman?"
I said, "I don't know. I only know that someone who has made vows of eternal love to one person can be all lovey-dovey with another in the blink of an eye; they're definitely not a serious person!"
She sent several sighing emojis.
I said, "That 'so-and-so's darling,' is that you?"
She said yes.
I said, "It's your freedom to hang out with whomever you want, but why do you have to provoke me with those screenshots of you showing off your relationship? You know perfectly well I'll see your gaming blog. 'So-and-so's darling,' you really know how to flaunt your love."
She said, "Are you jealous?
" I said, "Yes, I'm jealous."
She said, "Actually, I knew you'd be jealous. I just wanted to forget you."
I said, "There are many ways to forget me; you don't have to provoke others to achieve your goal."
She said, "I want you to hate me. You know we have no future!"
I knew, but knowing is one thing, doing is another. Some things, we know are wrong, yet we still indulge in them willingly. Like extramarital affairs, we all know they're immoral, but why do so many people still get caught up in them? Isn't it because this forbidden love is more aggressive, more novel and exciting, and more irresistible?
Pufferfish meat is delicious, but it is also highly poisonous. One wrong move and you're dead. Even so, many people still flock to it.
