What happened during the pandemic (Part 1)

Many things seem to be predestined. My wife said she was going to visit her parents this morning, and no sooner had she left than our neighborhood was locked down. We couldn't go in or out. I called her, and she said, "Then you two just stay home!" It happened to be Sunday. The main reason for the lockdown was that two people from our neighborhood had returned from a high-risk area. In the afternoon, my wife video-chatted with her parents. Sigh! We couldn't do anything. I took a nap, then checked the fridge and saw there were still some vegetables. I called my daughter to help me wash the vegetables and cook. My daughter is fourteen, almost fifteen, in her final year of junior high. She's a day student, and her school isn't far—about a 10-15 minute subway ride or a 20-minute bus ride. After cooking three dishes and a soup, I video-chatted with my wife again. My in-laws' house isn't far either; it's just across a river, about an hour's drive. We've been staying home like this for over a week, mostly watching TV and playing games. When my daughter isn't eating, she's in her room taking online classes or sleeping.
