[The Girls' School Teacher] (Episode 14, Chapter 5)

Chapter Five: Gunshots Ring Out

Last night, after returning home, I called Iwashita Haruka, this time using the alias of Dr. Nak. Iwashita

Haruka's father's injuries were caused by a sneak attack after a dinner party. The most vicious blow nearly

severed his spine, so he's currently in the hospital.

Aside , no one dares to perform surgery, fearing that a single mistake

could extinguish even his last hope of sitting up.

The Japanese caution is also applied to medicine, which is commendable.

The spine supports the human body; the act of straightening your spine is actually accomplished by the spine

. If the spine is broken, then a person cannot even sit up, let alone walk… Even if they do sit up,

they will slump down limply.

Ironically, spinal fracture surgery is extremely difficult. It's not about

the danger —in fact, the danger isn't life-threatening—but without a spine, life would certainly be

worse than death.

The greatest difficulty in treating spinal injuries lies in surgically reconnecting the vertebrae into

a whole, restoring its vitality, and enabling it to support the body again.

Like Iwashita Haruka's father, being spared a fractured vertebra is a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.

If left to rest, the body's powerful healing abilities will eventually

reconnect , but the extent of recovery is entirely up to fate. Perhaps he'll be able to stand, perhaps

he'll only have difficulty moving, or perhaps he'll be hunched over or bent over, looking strange and uncomfortable. Spinal injuries are

treatable by doctors, but the degree of recovery is beyond their control.

Moreover, doctors are reluctant to take on such responsibility if the patient is too powerful… Especially when

I arrived at the hospital the next morning and saw at least a hundred members of the Iwashita gang guarding the perimeter,

looking like they were from the underworld, I finally understood why the doctors had all declined.

At the hospital entrance, a stunningly beautiful woman, wearing a trench coat and black leather pants that accentuated her

long, slender legs, was incredibly alluring.

Seeing me walk towards him with a calm expression, under the gaze of my subordinates, the beautiful woman's eyes lit up: "

Mr. ?"

Nodding, I said gently, "Take me to the ward."

"Oh, okay, this way please..."

The beautiful woman was none other than Iwashita Haruka, who very respectfully led me into the hospital. Leaving behind a bunch of disapproving

glances .

Iwashita Haruka's father was naturally the boss of the Iwashita Group... Iwashita Suigo. This middle-aged

man, who looked like an ordinary company employee, lay calmly on the bed, though his eyes were somewhat dim. Perhaps Iwashita Haruka had told him

who I was, because upon seeing me enter, Iwashita Suigo became excited, but held back and didn't say anything.

I first looked at the X-ray films the hospital had taken of him. The second and fourth vertebrae near the tailbone had been

slashed, with the third to last vertebra being the most severely damaged, only one-tenth of it hanging from the spine.

It was clear that this yakuza boss was quite unlucky, having encountered a master who could deliver a backhand slash.

I had the medical staff turn Iwashita Suigo over, and I touched his wound

, channeling a stream of internal energy to feel the damaged nerves and blood vessels.

"What happened? The blood clot hasn't been drained?" I frowned, looking at a doctor beside me.

Morita Sawa, a doctor in his forties, was trembling, not from seeing the yakuza,

but from the pilgrimage-like feeling in his heart.

Dr. Nak, the top surgeon in North America, Dr. Nak!

When they first heard of his arrival, the hospital's head of surgery couldn't believe it, but upon seeing his

imposing presence, even the usually composed Morita Sawa had no doubts.

"Sir, it's because...we're afraid of damaging his bones," Morita Sawa said apologetically.

I knew their concerns—they were afraid of taking responsibility. Not draining the blood clot wouldn't really matter; it would dissipate within

a month . But after that month, the area eroded by the blood clot couldn't be reattached;

it could only slowly heal. Time would heal the wound.

"Alright, have you done everything I requested last night?" I decided not to pursue the matter further. Doctors

have their difficulties too; encountering people they can't afford to offend is common, so it's no wonder they're timid.

"Everything's ready. Last night, we cleaned Mr. Iwashita's body,

gave completed all the necessary physical examinations. We can perform the spinal reattachment surgery at any time."

Morita Sawa breathed a sigh of relief, feeling like a fresh graduate twenty years ago, facing his teacher.

I nodded and said, "Thank you, Dr. Morita. Four nurses will assist me. We'll wheel Mr. Iwashita in and administer

anesthesia. We'll begin the surgery in half an hour."

"Yes, sir." Morita Sawa was overjoyed. Observing the surgical techniques of a world-class doctor up close was

priceless.

An hour later, in the operating room. Watching me work with lightning speed, the scalpel wielded with precision, cutting, manipulating, and filling

the fusion paste applied to the spine. My eyes remained fixed, my hands steady as mountains, without a single tremor. Morita Sawa almost forgot his duties as an assistant. The fusion agent was something I made myself last night, using the eyes and brain matter of a three-headed python, ground into an ointment . Snakes have the best healing ability of all animals, so with this ointment, Iwashita Suigo's bones would quickly reconnect. My main responsibility was to control the amount of fusion agent, ensuring it completely covered every , neither lacking in elasticity nor allowing the spine to grow too tightly, which would make it prone to cracking again. It sounds easy, but it's physically demanding and needs to be done quickly, without exposing the spine to air for too long… even in a sterile room. The four nurses beside me were also incredibly nervous, performing surgery alongside a world-renowned super doctor for the first time. They completed every step I instructed them to take meticulously. Even the nurse who was watching the heart rate felt as if her own heart was about to jump out of her chest with each fluctuation.

"Bang, bang..." Several crisp, sharp sounds rang out outside the operating room. The operating room was supposed to be

soundproof, but we could clearly hear the sounds from outside.

Everyone knew that the sound was from pistol bullets hitting the wall.

In an instant, everyone except me and Iwashita Suigo changed color.

Iwashita Suigo was unconscious. I was fearless.

Just like that, "Bang, bang, bang..." Several louder gunshots rang in our ears,

echoing somewhat in the closed operating room.

"Calm down. Don't worry about anything until the surgery is finished," I said calmly, without even raising my head, as I worked on the

fourth-to-last vertebra.

"But sir... bullets are hitting the area around the operating room, how can we perform surgery in such a dangerous situation?"

Morita Sawa's negative emotions erupted. "The yakuza are the yakuza. Now look what's happened, the gunfight has even reached our

hospital , how can we tolerate this... I can't take it anymore, sir, let's go, I'll take you to a safe place

!"

Some people don't reveal their true nature until the most dangerous situation.

Like this head of surgery, Morita Sawa, I thought he was a good doctor, even though he was cowardly.

But now...

I take back my previous assessment.

A doctor who can abandon a patient still on the operating table doesn't deserve to be a doctor.

I paused, raised my head: "If you want to leave, you can leave, I don't object, but I will

stay and continue the surgery... Also, nurses, you can leave if you're scared."

After saying that, I lowered my head and continued my work.

Morita Sawa blushed at my words, his blood boiling, and he was about to say that he would stay as well.

"Boom..." A loud explosion rang out outside. It wasn't inside the operating room, but

not far outside the operating building. The loud bang shook the entire building.

"A grenade?"

Morita Sawa's face paled. He put down the instruments he was holding and ran outside.

Four nurses, equally pale, exchanged glances. Their slightly rough voices

echoed , but none of them seemed to care.

"Scalpel number eight," I said calmly, extending a hand.

A nurse standing nearby trembled as she handed me the scalpel, taking

the one I had been holding.

I continued my repair work, saying, "Don't be afraid. As far as I

know , even in America, criminals wouldn't harm doctors and nurses during surgery."

I knew my standing in the medical field; such gentle words did have a calming effect.

The four nurses nodded immediately, but they were still not completely reassured. Strangely enough, after Morita Sawa ran away

, the sounds of gunfire and grenades ceased, with only a few faint,

fleeting .

The surgery quickly came to an end. After using my inner energy to perfectly adhere the ointment to the spine, I put down

the scalpel and began suturing the skin.

In less than five minutes, a near-perfect suture was completed, and the nurses' eyes widened:

truly a miracle doctor! To suture a wound so seamlessly—what exquisite skill and keen eyesight

!

Emerging from the operating room, I walked in front of the surgical cart, blocking the four

nurses This gesture warmed the hearts of the worried nurses, who thought that if they weren't in their thirties

, they would surely fall in love with this gentle and capable miracle doctor.

Pushing open the operating room door, I was immediately greeted by dozens of burly men standing five or six meters away, completely blocking the corridor

.

The only person close to us was a young man pacing back and forth. On a chair beside him, Iwashita

Haruka stared calmly into the distance, her eyes unfocused.

Hearing the sound, everyone turned to look at me as I emerged from the operating room. Even Iwashita Haruka jumped to her feet

.

"Doctor, how is my father?" the young man asked anxiously as he stepped forward.

"Junichi, stand aside," Iwashita Haruka said apologetically, tugging at her younger brother. "Sir, were you not disturbed

just now ? I'm so sorry!"

"No problem. The surgery went smoothly. Mr. Iwashita can be discharged in a week and

will be able to walk normally after resting at home for three months." I said calmly, "However, if anything happens, I hope you won't

involve the hospital. After all, doctors are not on the same side as you."

"Yes, yes, thank you, sir..." Iwashita Haruka smiled easily, "We really

didn't want to let gang disputes get involved here, but they knew my father was hospitalized here and wanted to cause trouble. Fortunately

, you are all alright... Huh, where is Dr. Morita?"

Hearing this, the nurses were all shocked and became nervous for some reason. If they found out that Dr.

Morita had deserted his post... God knows what these gangsters would do.

Without hesitation, I said, "Dr. Morita is still compiling data from a test; the results aren't out yet."

"Oh, he's really going to a lot of trouble," Iwashita Haruka said with a smile. "After my father is discharged, I'll

donate 100 million yen to the hospital as a token of my gratitude."

"How you do it is your business; leave the rest to them." I ignored her,

turned to wave to the nurses, and gave a slight bow. "Thank you for your hard work!"

Amidst the grateful and respectful gazes of the nurses, I turned and walked in another direction.

"Sister, is that doctor really the miracle worker, Dr. Nak? He's so damn handsome! My idol!"

"Yeah, if you were even a fraction of his level, I wouldn't have to worry about gang matters; I could just find someone I like,

get married, have kids."

"Eh, sister… sister, why are you blushing? Could it be that you and him…?"

"Get lost, don't talk nonsense. This is the first time I've met Mr. Nak either."

"Hehe, no, there's still a secret!"
