[The Girls' School Teacher] (Episode 24, Chapter 7)

Chapter Seven: Picking Up the Leftovers As

soon as I turned around, I noticed that the number of guests on the full-gambling side was far greater than on the semi-gambling side.

Moreover, on the full-gambling side, I could hear quiet arguing—such rude and uncivilized behavior

shouldn't be happening at all!

Following the sound, I saw Sun Zhenyi and his sister arguing with a middle-aged couple, while

the appraiser beside them ignored the argument, focusing

intently on a large jade stone about 100 centimeters in diameter, holding a flashlight and other tools.

Besides them, a beautifully sculpted young girl stood nearby, listening to

their argument with great interest.

I smiled slightly: "This little girl actually enjoys watching others argue; she's quite a unique

little girl!"

Thinking this, I walked over and gently patted her shoulder.

Kiyone suddenly turned her head. When she saw me, a sweet smile appeared on the beautiful girl's face. She was already

incredibly sweet-looking, and now her smile was so sweet that I felt like I had fallen into a honey pot, completely intoxicated.

"Junxiong, they're so interesting! They're both so unwilling to back down over a piece of rough jade. That

beautiful says the jade inside is definitely top-grade, worth over a million US dollars; while

Mr. Ikoma's appraiser says the stone has no value at all."

"Is it... Ikoma Hontsubasa?"

I asked.

"Yes, it's him. Don't underestimate the appraiser next to him. He's

Nikaido Meikei, who's considered second only to the three great appraisers. He's very famous in the rough jade world,"

the sweet girl introduced to me.

Ikoma Hontsubasa was about fifty years old, not tall, but with a resolute appearance and bright eyes. His slicked-back

hair showed that he had a strong and decisive personality.

His background is no simple matter; he is the controller of the Japanese railway giant "Tobu Railway" and also owns

30% of the shares in Keihin Kyuko Railway. Both are important components of the Fuji Group. With this,

Ikoma Hontsuba became one of the key figures in the "Fuyoukai," the top decision-making body of the Fuji Group, and wielded considerable

influence .

Nikaido Meikei is not young either; with his half-gray hair, he is at least forty years old. Apart from his long,

slender and bright eyes, he looks like an ordinary middle-aged office worker. However, just by looking at

the eyes he's currently examining the jade, one can see that his level of focus is absolutely extraordinary.

"Mr. Ikoma, if you're not going to buy, then don't make a scene here. Go away. My wins and losses are my own

decision , and it has nothing to do with you!"

Sun Zhenyi's voice was hurried and his tone was sharp.

"Hmph! I don't care how you embarrass yourself. I'm just asking Mr. Nikaido to take a look. As for

the jokes you're making, I can't be bothered to watch!"

Ikoma Hontsuba said loudly.

Logically, whatever rough stone Sun Zhenyi bought, whether he won or lost, was none of Ikoma Hon'i's concern.

But things weren't that simple.

Ikoma Hon'i had initially seen the rough stone, examined it, and, unable to discern its value, had Nikaido

Meikei examine it closely. Nikaido Meikei concluded that this rough stone, with a purchase price of $500,000, contained little

jadeite , worth at most $200,000 to $300,000, not worth gambling on.

However, before they even left, Sun Zhenyi arrived at the rough stone. The woman in black

examined , touched it for a while, and then told Sun Zhenyi that the rough stone was well worth the gamble, containing

high-quality jadeite that could fetch at least a million dollars after mining.

This angered Ikoma Hon'i. "We just judged this rough stone to be worthless, and you're already claiming

it contains high-quality jadeite? Are you deliberately trying to antagonize me?"

If it were anyone else saying this, Ikoma Hontsuba might have just laughed it off; after all, given his status,

it was angry over someone's words.

But Sun Zhenyi was different. Their feud dated back to the 1990s. When Sun Zhenyi wanted to acquire a

stake in Keihin Kyuko Railway, the plan was immediately rejected by Ikoma Hontsuba. He resolutely refused to sell even a single share of what was vital to Japan's railway system to the descendants of South Koreans. Sun Zhenyi didn't say anything openly, but a year later, when Ikoma Hontsuba was negotiating an investment in a railway line in East Siberia with the Russian Far East government, they were almost at the point of signing a contract. However, Sun Zhenyi used even higher bribes to buy off the officials in charge of the negotiations, securing the railway investment for himself. Thus, for seven or eight years, Sun Zhenyi and Ikoma Hontsuba had been locked in a fierce battle, becoming bitter . How could Ikoma Hontsuba tolerate his sworn enemy publicly admitting his judgment was flawed? He ordered Nikaido Meikei to carefully re-evaluate the situation to see who had truly misjudged him. Sun Zhenyi shared the same thought and asked the woman in black to confirm. Even during this lull, the two couldn't resist bickering. He accused me of lacking discernment, while I retorted that he was pretentious and irrational… After Qingyin recounted their argument, I became intrigued and examined the large rough stone. The stone's outer skin was a mottled grayish-green, with numerous speckled blue-green inclusions, clearly originating from one of Myanmar's ten oldest mines, the Grey Karst jade. Grey Karst jade isn't as high-quality as old Hpakant or Longtang jade; its quality varies greatly, from exceptionally good to utterly terrible. Generally, Grey Karst jade is mostly a "half-gamble"—if it reveals a hint of jadeite green, the translucency will be good , giving one a sense of certainty. Looking more closely at the stone, although it had many speckled blue-green inclusions, they weren't clustered together… Well, of course, if they were, experienced Burmese jade craftsmen would have already made cuts where , greatly increasing the chances of finding jadeite. While abundant blue-green patterns on a piece of jade are certainly a good thing, the direction of the green veins is also very important. This piece of grey jade has chaotic and irregular veins, which means that even if it contains green, it won't form a cohesive whole, and there's a high probability of many fragmented green pieces. "Junxiong... is this stone any good?"

Qingyin, such a clever little girl, became curious when she saw me nod slightly.

I told her my judgment, adding, "Of course, this is just looking. When gambling on

stones, you can't just look; you also have to touch them, tap them, and rely on experience to make a final

judgment ... Even this kind of judgment isn't completely accurate."

The two groups over there heard us talking. The woman in black didn't say anything, but Nikaido

Meikei smiled and said, "Sir, why don't you give it a try?"

Since no one had bought the stone, I naturally took a look.

I took a few steps forward and touched the grey jade.

To onlookers, my hand moved along the blue-green pattern, but in reality, I was constantly channeling my inner

energy , exploring its inner workings.

Sure enough, for the top two-thirds of the stone, apart from seven or eight pieces of emerald green about two or three fingers long,

it was almost entirely white stone. But in the bottom third, the stone's structure suddenly

became denser, and I had a sudden realization – this was a sign of green emerging.

Upon closer inspection, a jade band resembling a python's belt suddenly appeared in my mind's eye.

The jadeite wrapped around the central stone was about fifty centimeters long and a palm's width, with a dazzling, transparent,

glassy luster, at least five points of clarity.

Aside from this jade band, there were no other surprises below, only a few small pieces of emerald green, and

nothing . However, this single five-point clear glassy jadeite was worth at least one million five hundred thousand US dollars,

far exceeding the black-clad beauty's estimate.

"Whoever buys this rough stone will really make a fortune!" Seeing me withdraw my hand, Nikaido Meikichi

casually asked, "Sir, what do you think?"

As he asked, Sun Zhenyi and Ikoma Hontsuba also looked at me. Although I wasn't an appraiser,

it was always a good thing to have more people agree with my opinion.

I pondered for a moment and said, "Grey jade is, after all, one of the top ten old mines. Although the blue patterns are scattered and

the veins are not neat, I think it's worth a try for around one million."

"Hehe!"

Nikaido Meikichi smiled faintly, ignoring me, and turned to Ikoma Hontsuba, saying, "Mr. Ikoma, I

still stand by my opinion. Let's go and look at the others."

"Haha, okay!"

Ikoma Hontsuba, of course, could only choose to believe Nikaido Meikichi. "Let's not delay others from making a fortune...

Mr. Sun , when you're cutting the stone later, don't sneak away. I have to come and see."

"Don't worry, I'm waiting to see your disappointed expression."

Sun Zhenyi said with a forced smile.

Watching Ikoma Hontsuba's retreating figure, Sun Zhenyi snorted coldly, picked up the paper and pen beside him, wrote down the price

and other details, stuffed them back into his cloth bag, and tossed them into the small bamboo basket next to him.

After doing all this, he smiled slightly at us, his eyes turning to Qingyin: "Miss Oda,

why here alone?"

"Which eye of yours saw me alone?"

The sweet, young beauty frowned slightly. "Didn't you see my future teacher standing here?"

"Oh, hehe, my apologies!"

Sun Zhenyi was quite composed, showing no embarrassment at being scolded by a child. He nodded lightly at me

as a greeting.

"Don't underestimate my future teacher. He's a super genius from Harvard University, and he's very

knowledgeable about jade gambling. With him saying this jade is good, you can just wait to make money."

I don't know if Qingyin was too confident in me or just putting on a brave face, but the little girl spoke so

highly of me. If I didn't have some real skills, I would actually feel a little insecure.

Sun Zhenyi didn't seem to notice anything amiss, but Sun Yan'er exclaimed in surprise, "Ah, is that

Mr. ?"

"Of course!"

Qingyin replied proudly.

"Mr. Liu, hello..."

Sun Yan'er extended her small hand, shook mine, and said with slight excitement, "You've always been my idol. I

've always longed to study at Harvard University since I was little, but due to poor health, I've never been able to go... Of course, even

if I had gone, I could never have achieved what you have. May I... may I have the honor of asking you some academic

questions when you have time?"

This beautiful woman, with the air of a well-bred lady, spoke somewhat incoherently, but it was clear from her words that

she was genuinely happy to see me.

For a Harvard genius to evoke such respect from such a beautiful woman with a scholarly air was truly a rare

thing. My tone softened considerably: "If you have any questions, just call me."

"Hehe, you're just as gentle and kind as Mr. Nak,"

Sun Yan'er said softly. "By the way, I haven't thanked you for your help yet. If it weren't for you, how could I

have received Mr. Nak's treatment?"

"You're welcome. You're Director Yumu's friend, so it's only right that you help,"

I said modestly. "

Mr. Nak?"

Sun Zhenyi finally understood what I meant and looked at his sister with a puzzled expression.

"Yes, he's Mr. Liu Junxiong, the one who helped me ask Dr. Nak for help..."

Sun Yan'er said with a smile.

"Oh, look at my memory!"

Sun Zhenyi's face immediately lit up with a smile, and he extended his hand: "Mr. Liu, please don't take offense! I was just

arguing with that guy Ikoma, and my head was spinning! I've been wanting to treat you and Mr. Nak to a meal to thank

you help to Yan'er, and I didn't expect to run into you here. What a coincidence!"

It was clear that his enthusiasm was mostly due to the reputation of the legendary doctor Nak.

I shook his hand with a bit of reluctance, but before we could exchange a few pleasantries, Qingyin said in a coquettish tone that she wanted to

go look at jade gambling, and pulled me aside. I was happy not to talk to Sun Zhenyi much, so after saying hello, I

pretended to be helpless as Qingyin dragged me away.

"Hehe, Junxiong, aren't you going to thank me?"

Once we were out of sight of Sun Zhenyi and his group, the sweet girl came over to claim credit.

"Thank you so much, my clever and intelligent little sister Qingyin."

I bowed to her.

"Hmph, no sincerity at all."

Qingyin rolled her eyes at me. "Junxiong, tell me the truth, do you know how to gamble on stones?"

"What? You want to get rich?"

I looked at her warily. "Also, don't drag me into your feud with Fumi. If you

talk like that again, I'll drag you out and spank you right now!"

"Giggle..."

Qingyin was still a young girl at heart. Thinking about how she had said she wanted to be Junxiong's wife, she felt a little shy

, but she couldn't help but look at the man in front of her, realizing that she might actually have feelings for him.

After a while, the sweet little beauty with a flushed face said coquettishly, "I really don't know

what . The way they look at them with shining eyes is like they're robbing me."

"Men all have a bit of a gambling streak. As long as they can control themselves with reason, a little gambling can be entertaining."

I smiled and said, "With your father's and those rich people's fortunes, it wouldn't be easy for them to gamble it all away

."

"Yeah, my dad also said that gambling on stones is just a pastime."

Qingyin nodded repeatedly. "Junxiong, then let's have some pastime too. I really want a sky

-blue jade pendant. Can you find it for me?"

I glared at her: "Do you think I'm a god?"

The sweet little beauty wasn't afraid of me at all. She looked up at me and said, "Junxiong, I know you're very

capable. What's a mere stone? Just be kind and pick one out for me!"

Qingyin's cute appearance was so charming that it was hard to refuse her.

But I also knew that this little girl had definitely used this trick on more than just me; she probably used it often at home,

otherwise she wouldn't be so skilled at it, attracting even someone as determined as me.

"How much money do you have?"

I pondered, "I can help you pick out a few to look at, but I can't guarantee they'll be the colors you want."

"Here..."

Qingyin pitifully pulled out a gold card from her small bag: "I've saved up my New Year's money for a long time; I have two

hundred thousand US dollars."

She also knew that this jade gambling auction was on a large scale, so two hundred thousand US dollars was a bit insignificant.

"But who could refuse such a cute little sister's request?" I sighed and

took the gold card from her hand. "Little vixen, I think one day you'll have me completely under your thumb!"

"Haha!"

Seeing that I agreed, the sweet little beauty smiled sweetly, revealing her dimples. "No, no... I'll take

good care of you! With me around, they won't dare to bully you..."

Children always like to act like adults. No matter how mischievous Qingyin is, she still has many childlike habits.

Perhaps it's this pure innocence that makes me like this crystal-clear little vixen, as beautiful as jade!

"Junxiong, shall we go find some jade now?"

Qingyin was itching to get the jade pendant she wanted, and

she looked around impatiently.

"Your 200,000 isn't enough for a sealed bid."

I teased her, then said, "Come on, come with me."

"Oh!"

Hearing that she didn't have enough money, Qingyin wasn't disappointed at all; she had complete confidence in me.

As we walked, I explained to her, "Every auction has some leftover pieces.

They're not expensive , and you don't need to participate in the sealed bid. They're specifically for people who don't have enough money to buy directly, or for beginners

to try their luck. Since you don't have enough money, let's go take a look over there."

Qingyin said with a grin, "Isn't this called finding a bargain?"

"You could say that

," I smiled calmly, "but the probability of finding top-quality or high-grade jadeite in the leftover pieces is extremely small.

Many people just go there hoping they won't lose too much."

"We're not just going to play around, we're going to find bargains!"

The sweet girl lightly raised her fist.

Amidst the laughter, we arrived at several extra-long tables in the corner of the exhibition hall.

These tables, at least thirty meters long, were arranged in three rows, with rough stones of all sizes on them. Because they were

leftover pieces, the largest was no bigger than a cantaloupe, and the smallest was only slightly larger than a fist.

Next to each rough stone was a plaque listing its price, weight, and origin. I glanced at it briefly;

most were between five hundred and five thousand US dollars, not expensive.

We weren't the first to arrive. Several teenagers were already there, watching

and handling , occasionally tapping and striking them, making quite a show of it, though few were actually buying.

These children of super-rich families weren't necessarily stingy; rather, due to their consistently strict upbringing,

they preferred to observe rather than spend money on things they didn't understand.

Seeing me bring Qingyin, the boys who had been quite jealous of me earlier immediately

looked at me with envious eyes, their dissatisfaction undisguised.

Qingyin noticed their expressions immediately, but she simply smiled and ignored them.

This clever and mischievous little beauty always chose to ignore these immature boys, because her

maturity far exceeded that age.

Even Qingyin ignored these children, so naturally I didn't take their provocations to heart.

I scanned the three long tables, then stood before the first row, examining each one individually.

The sweet, young girl followed obediently behind me, but her gaze towards the rough stones seemed

rather bored. Qingyin never bothered to examine things she wasn't interested in.

There were at least two hundred scraps on the three tables, all complimentary from Myanmar.

Jade merchants who bought large quantities of rough stones usually received this treatment, the only difference being the amount of the complimentary stones.

With so many stones, I couldn't possibly examine each one individually. I could only observe their appearance first, then

look at the data written on them, and then pick up the stones I thought had potential, using my inner energy to examine their internal structure.

My luck—well, I should say Qingyin's luck—was very good. The fifteenth jade stone I picked up was the one she wanted.

I wanted a sky-blue jadeite.

Sky-blue jadeite itself isn't considered particularly precious; among jadeite, emerald green and jadeite blue are naturally the most

valuable . To be more precise, jadeite blue is composed of yellow and red, so these three colors should be considered the most prized.

However, jadeite isn't just about color; there's another crucial indicator—water!

Water, also known as "water type," refers to the quality of jadeite. Among these, glass type is the best, followed by icy type, egg-white type, bean type,

and so on .

The rough stone I chose for Qingyin happens

to have excellent water quality in this sky-blue jadeite, belonging to first-class icy type. While not top-grade, it's certainly a high-quality piece. With skillful carving and polishing,

I believe it will become a fine jadeite pendant.

This rough stone is about the size of two fists, and the sky-blue jadeite inside is 10 centimeters long and 8

centimeters wide. Despite its unassuming appearance, it's priced at only $800 USD. After cutting the stone, this icy sky-blue

jadeite could fetch $100,000 USD, and with careful crafting, it could sell for at least $300,000 USD.

After confirming my choice, I didn't give it to Qingyin immediately. Instead, I continued forward until I reached the end of the long table,

then returned to hand her the six rough stones, including this one, along with their prices.

This was, of course, intentional. If I took one stone and it turned out to be what Qingyin wanted, it would

be too miraculous. If one of the six stones met the sweet girl's requirements, it wouldn't be so

extraordinary.

"Alright, that's all,"

I clapped my hands.

The little girl, carrying the basket full of rough stones, whispered excitedly, "Is this what I wanted?"

I smiled slightly, "It's only a possibility. Let's go cut them open and see!"

"Hahahaha...that's hilarious..."

Suddenly, a wild laugh rang out behind us.

Qingyin, who was about to nod in agreement, suddenly frowned slightly.

Seeing it was a boy of about fifteen or sixteen years old with an arrogant expression, the sweet girl tossed her head, pulled

me aside, and said, "Let's go!"

The boy's laughter stopped abruptly.

He laughed so wildly, firstly because he found it funny, and secondly, and most importantly, because he wanted to get Qingyin's

attention and have her ask him why he was laughing. This way, he could showcase his talent and quickly win

the favor of this super-beautiful girl.

But to his utter surprise, Qingyin only glanced at him, completely

ignoring him, and turned to leave. The boy, who had never been so ignored before, blushed

furiously was about to burst into flames.

"Stop!"

the boy shouted.

Fortunately, they were in a corner, so his voice didn't disturb anyone. The few pretty waitresses standing nearby

, seeing him as just a child, didn't pay him any attention.

"What's all the noise about?"

the sweet, young beauty's face turned cold. "If you want to scream, go outside and scream. Are you afraid of

embarrassing your parents?"

I was shocked that Qingyin, at such a young age, could speak so harshly, let alone this

boy .

A surge of anger and embarrassment rushed to his head, and the boy roared, "You...you dare to insult me? Do you know

who I am?"

Qingyin smiled coldly, "Haisen Shuli, don't put on your arrogant act.

No one standing here is inferior to you. Do you think you can just draw a line in the sand? If I'm afraid of you, I'm not

a descendant !"

The boy named Haisen Shuli's face instantly turned ugly.

The sweet girl's words reminded him that everyone who could enter the top floor of the Imperial Hotel today was one of Japan's top

super-rich and nobles, and none of them were afraid of anyone else.

If he had caused trouble, his parents would definitely not hold it against Qingyin. The reason was simple:

two children arguing, especially since the other child was a girl—wouldn't his parents be ashamed to help?

Annoyed but unable to argue with Qingyin, Haisen Shuli directed all his anger at me,

his gaze particularly unfriendly.

How could I possibly take him seriously? I took the basket from Qingyin's hand, patted her shoulder casually, and walked

towards the stone-cutting room.

After the gambling on the stones, many people would naturally be itching to have them cut on the spot. The merchants of Hokkaido

had prepared this service, setting aside a 30-square-meter room on the top floor, where more than 20

skilled jade craftsmen were waiting to help cut the stones.

However, according to the normal procedure, those who won the gambling stones would only bring them in for cutting after the sealed bids ended

. We, who were picking up bargains from the scraps, were the first to enjoy the treatment of having the jade craftsmen help us cut our stones.
