[The Girls' School Teacher] (Episode 26, Chapter 4)

Chapter Four: Purple-Eyed Jadeite "

Oh, it's chicken-fat yellow..."

"Yes, look how pure this yellow is!"

"It's even more deeply ingrained than the bright yellow we see on the walls of the Forbidden City in China!"

"..."

Amidst exclamations of admiration, Teraguchi Kirimoto's Ryudo jadeite was the first to be unearthed. Before them lay a

jadeite band, fifty centimeters long, fifteen centimeters wide, and three centimeters thick, swirled into an arc. With the meticulous polishing of the jade craftsmen, it was completely removed. Because the bright yellow within was exceptionally pure, and because it formed a large piece rather than scattered fragments, its value skyrocketed. A dozen appraisers and valuation experts standing nearby examined and handled it for a while , offering a price of five million six hundred thousand US dollars. Although this bright yellow jadeite was a gamble, and would most likely never belong to Teraguchi Kirimoto, as the owner of the jadeite , he still took it, carefully appreciating this wondrous gift of nature amidst the crowd of onlookers. Seeing her husband's expression, Teraguchi Akane exclaimed in surprise, "Hey, it looks like the jade slips that ancient ministers held during court sessions!" Her words immediately brought it to everyone's attention. Indeed, aside from the non-straight curve, its shape and the quality of the jade inside were very similar to jade slips. Another wealthy man nearby, clearly knowledgeable about imperial etiquette, shook his head and said, "Oh, not only that, its chicken-fat yellow color is reserved for royalty. Ministers only used white jade slips. This bright yellow jade slip can only be used by the emperor!" A slightly plump wealthy man said enviously, "With this jade, at least two bright yellow jade slips could be polished . Even if you keep it at home, it would be a symbol of imperial honor!" "It's a pity, although bright yellow jade is precious, it probably won't win . Such a good thing has to be given to someone else… Mr. Teraguchi, what a pity…" The speaker was none other than Sumiyoshi-kai Chairman Ukiki Heizen, his words clearly mocking and teasing. Recently, in several prefectures in central Honshu, the "Sumiyoshi-kai" and the "Queen Bee Gang" have been locked in fierce combat, fighting each other for their own expansion. Therefore, Ukki Heisen's words were quite blunt. Teraguchi Akane quickly pinched her husband lightly from behind, and Teraguchi Kirimoto's previously somber face softened : "Heh, well, there's nothing I can do about it. Who told me not to put in the effort to study properly? There's this guy who's always fighting and killing, but when it comes to such refined matters, no one invites him to participate; he can only watch as an observer . Sigh, if I were that kind of person, would I still have the mood to tease others?" "You…" Ukki Heisen's mood instantly shifted from sunny to gloomy, his face flushing red. Combined with his white hair, there was a strange feeling—this old man had quite a temper! Logically, at sixty-two years old, Ukki Heisen should have long since cultivated a refined demeanor and shouldn't be so easily angered . However, firstly, this place was filled with wealthy people from Japan and other countries; if he made a fool of himself, the whole world would know. Secondly, and most importantly, Ukki Heizen had always wanted to break into high society but had never succeeded, so everyone was wary of him. Teraguchi Kirimoto, on the other hand, was different. His Marubeni Corporation was an important member of the Fuji Group, and he himself came from aristocratic backgrounds. So even though the "Queen Bee Gang" was not as powerful as the "Sumiyoshi-kai," Teraguchi Kirimoto still had a clear advantage over Ukki Heizen. Teraguchi Kirimoto hit Ukki Heizen's sore spot, but the two couldn't possibly fight on the spot. With the dissuasion of several familiar wealthy people , Ukki Heizen snorted coldly and left, secretly resolving to teach Teraguchi Kirimoto a lesson. The clash between the two yakuza bosses was just a minor episode; the real focus tonight was on Emerald. After Teraguchi Kirimoto finished viewing the jade, two beautiful waitresses carefully transported it to a spacious area on a trolley. Ten large tables were set up there for displaying the cut jade and for everyone to admire. The attendees were all wealthy individuals, so they didn't rush in all at once, but rather viewed the jade in an orderly fashion, some even sitting quietly, waiting to see more pieces before viewing them all at once. Teraguchi Kirimoto knew he might have lost, but as it was his first time attending the "United We Stand" event, he was still very satisfied with his results. At least those who saw it praised it, and the Teraguchi family's reputation was enhanced. Therefore, he rewarded the appraisers responsible for selecting the jade with a total bonus . Teraguchi Kirimoto's jade wasn't large, but once one was cut, the rest would be done soon. The second jade to be completely cut was Jani's Mamu Bay old mine jade. Contrary to its appearance, this jade from one of the ten old mines showed ! Originally a clear blue icy jadeite, it suddenly developed numerous small and large blemishes, instantly ruining and creating an unsightly mixed color. Experienced jade craftsmen knew that blemishes affecting the green were one of the most damaging to jadeite, though not entirely worthless. If the affected area was small and the interior was still a pure sky blue, cutting through that section could yield a decent profit. However, compared to a continuous, unbroken piece, the value decreased significantly. As a result, under the watchful eyes of the craftsmen, no matter how carefully they cut the stone, what appeared before them were patches of unsightly mixed green. The sky blue and dark green blended together, making only the face of the arriving Jani look worse. The final outcome was regrettable. Only a 30-centimeter section of the jadeite was truly clear blue , less than 5 centimeters wide and only 2-3 centimeters thick. The rest, however , stretched far beyond 80 centimeters, entirely covered in unsightly blemishes, suitable only for low-grade jadeite bracelets and accessories . Regardless, at 30 centimeters in length, this icy sky-blue jadeite isn't bad, but that depends on where you compare it. In the market, this 30-centimeter jadeite could sell for at least 200 yuan.

$10,000, considered high-grade... but among a sea of top-grade and exceptional pieces, it seemed quite ordinary.

Given this less-than-stellar performance, the appraisers and valuation experts ultimately offered

$2.5 million, understandably lower than Teraguchi Kirimoto's.

Because he was on the top floor of the Empire Hotel, and with numerous wealthy individuals watching, Jani forced a smile,

but the gloom in his eyes caused his entourage, especially the appraiser, to turn pale and

tremble .

As one of Indonesia's top ten richest men, Jani didn't care about losing to others due to the inferior quality of the jade; what

angered was that the jade he had painstakingly selected turned out to be a defective product, not

the high-grade jade he desired. This made Jani feel ashamed in front of wealthy people from various countries.

Seeing a jade that had been initially priced at four million US dollars suddenly plummet to

two and , the crowd couldn't help but sigh with a touch of melancholy: "Jade gambling really is a gamble of the heart!"

Jani felt miserable, but soon he realized he wasn't the worst off.

Even worse off than Jani was the owner of the third rough stone, Lee Jong-jun of Samsung, South Korea.

Lee Jong-jun's grey jadeite far surpassed Jani's and Teraguchi Kirimoto's in appearance. The "

fire matching natural celestial phenomena, was estimated at six million US dollars, making it a strong contender for the top spots

.

However, in the world of rough stones, a good exterior doesn't guarantee a good interior

, and vice versa.

Lee Jong-jun's rough stone had an opening of only about ten centimeters, the entire "fire sunset" pattern only fifteen centimeters long,

and a width of only two fingers. The rest was almost entirely white stone, with only a few small pieces of

jadeite , which were of bean-like quality and small in size.

Now it was Jani's turn to chuckle to himself: "I never thought there was anyone more unlucky than me.

Isn't supposed to be one of the 'top ten jade collectors in the world'? How come the rough stone he brought out is such a piece of junk?"

Lee Jong-jun's face reached its breaking

point .

If it weren't for the beautiful South Korean woman beside him tightly holding him, constantly whispering something in his ear

to soothe his wounded heart, he probably would have smashed the "Burning Sunset" as soon as he got his hands on it.

Even so, Lee Jong-jun didn't even reach for the "Burning Sunset," only letting his wife—the beautiful

woman—admire it for a moment before placing it in another area for everyone to appreciate.

If devaluing it from four million to two and a half million was a huge loss, then devaluing it from six million to one

million was utterly humiliating.

Seeing Jani start chatting and laughing with his friends again, Lee Jong-jun was furious... but

the beautiful woman held onto Lee Jong-jun tightly, preventing him from storming off.

Although Li Zhongjun came here in his personal capacity to attend the "Unity of All" conference, he

was ultimately the nephew of the Li family tycoon, representing the family's reputation. If he left now, not

only would he lose face, but the Li family tycoon would be the one most ridiculed—"How do you discipline your family members?"

Understanding this, the beautiful young woman tightly held Li Zhongjun's arm, retreated to her

seat , and chatted and laughed with the several wealthy South Korean businessmen beside her.

The Li family tycoon held considerable influence in South Korea. While the South Korean businessmen's true thoughts were unclear, their faces

were all beaming as they comforted Li Zhongjun and talked about other interesting things. Gradually, Li Zhongjun's

expression softened.

"Hehe, this Cui family's daughter-in-law who married into the Li family is really quite good." Baihe also saw this scene and

said softly to me, "It seems that Boss Li really knows how to manage family affairs. He knew that Li Zhongjun would become irritable when he encountered difficulties,

so he matched him with such a gentle and capable beautiful wife."

"God has been good to me too, sending Baihe to my side."

I took her small hand and held it tightly, "You are much better than her."

"You just know how to say sweet words to coax people..."

The beautiful young woman said, but the bright smile on her face revealed her true feelings.

Of course, a wife is meant to be cherished, and cherishing means not only in actions but also in words. Women

are emotional, and a few sweet words can make them very

happy .

While we were talking tenderly, the jade craftsmen cutting stones in the room and the wealthy people watching outside couldn't help but

feel heavy-hearted.

Two rough stones that had been cut in succession had their value plummeted, which was unpleasant for anyone to see.

Judging from the opening, the type of jadeite, the color, the appearance, the veins, and so on, everyone thought this

was definitely a top-grade rough stone that would yield excellent jadeite. However, the result was a huge disappointment. People began to

speculate : would some of the subsequent rough stones also turn out like this?

Even the three rough stones with the best appearance and opening—would they also be a mess inside?

If so, it would be a real pity!

The wealthy people weren't regretting the money, but rather the inability to witness the birth of such a top-quality jadeite. In their eyes, money

meant nothing ; only these exceptional jadeite pieces could excite and move them deeply.

Fortunately, the fourth rough stone was then cut open.

This rough stone from Singapore's Lee Lun, from the Xinhoujiang area, revealed a "purple eye" when it opened.

After the jade craftsmen removed all the outer stone, they found an irregularly

shaped oval jadeite with a diameter of ten centimeters.

Seeing the jadeite solidify into such a large piece, Lee Lun, who had been very worried, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

If he had gotten the same result as the previous two, he didn't know how he would react negatively.

Fortunately, the jade gambling was very successful, and Li Lun no longer needed to worry about it.

After the initial treatment came the meticulous washing and polishing. Before long, when a jade

craftsman held up the oval-shaped jade with both hands, beaming with joy, all the wealthy people and their

families who saw the jade exclaimed in unison,

"It's so beautiful..."

This was the most common phrase.

The jade's exterior was light purple, while its inner purple "eye" was a deep purple, just as beautiful as when it had been admired earlier

.

But its beauty wasn't limited to just one purple eye.

Inlaid in the center of the jadeite were no fewer than ten beautiful purple eyes, some large, some small, all

dazzling and exquisitely beautiful.

An experienced lighting technician quickly shone a bright light on the jadeite, and the stimulated purple eyes

became even more intense and profound, like the captivating eyes of many beautiful women gazing tenderly at everyone.

"Hahaha…"

Li Lun, his hands trembling, couldn't help but burst into a relieved laugh as he held it in his hands.

No one reprimanded his rudeness; in the tense atmosphere just now, Li Lun's gambling on the jadeite had performed so exceptionally well,

he truly had reason to be happy and joyful.

The price was quickly announced: twelve million US dollars. This price exceeded the combined value of the previous three jadeite pieces.

Often, the price of an item does not necessarily reflect its true value.

For example, this superior jadeite with twelve purple eyes was particularly popular with women; more than

two-thirds of the beautiful young women and girls gazed at it for a long time, constantly exclaiming in admiration, and immediately

begged their men, brothers, and fathers to obtain this purple-eyed jadeite.

A price of twelve million or even more wouldn't be a large

sum for any of the wealthy people present. Unfortunately, this purple-eyed gemstone was destined to belong only to the winner of tonight's "unity of all," and who

would sell it to someone else for money? They wouldn't even have time to treasure it!

Now, all they could do was pray that the final winner would be their friend or acquaintance, only then

could they fulfill their loved ones' wishes.

As the women's voices continued their prayers, another gemstone was cut open.
