A single man's first successful 3P

After registering on the forum for a while, a guy added me. He was 38, seven or eight years older than me, and we started chatting on and off. Neither of us had any experience; we just got to know each other sincerely, from work to life, and quickly became true friends. Although I was single, I wasn't in a rush to start anything; I was more concerned about whether I was suited for this niche activity, a feeling many people, including him, inevitably have when taking this step. I always fantasized about doing something private with someone in a pleasant relationship, something exciting and wonderful, without anything lewd or base, but I was also afraid of leaving bad memories for myself or them. He was also a cautious person. He and his wife loved each other very much, but the mundane details of life, like money and household chores, and the hardships of raising children, had dulled their passion.
Then, last summer, he invited me to dinner, saying we'd see how things went. My brother revealed that although my partner was very satisfied with my education, job, and character, she was quite picky about looks and how I was initially perceived. If she wasn't satisfied, we had to call it a day, and I readily agreed. Beijing summers are exceptionally hot, and we arranged to have dinner at a restaurant. I arrived at the agreed-upon location early, feeling quite nervous, and my brother and sister-in-law soon followed. We greeted each other with smiles, a very warm and friendly exchange. My brother was young and capable, and my sister-in-law was gentle and refined; although slightly plump, her beauty was undeniable. During dinner, we chatted casually about work, Beijing housing prices, and so on, all a little tense. My sister-in-law even avoided looking me in the eye. As we were almost finished, I excused myself to pay the bill, waiting outside for a few minutes to calm myself down and give them time to discuss things. A few minutes later, as we left the restaurant, my brother quietly told me that aside from being a little thin, my sister-in-law was quite satisfied with my appearance, and that I was a graduate of a prestigious university and appreciated my personal refinement. He suggested we try dating somewhere else, and so we booked a hotel room.
