Wife's Choice (Continued)

A while ago, I confided in everyone that my wife had changed a lot after meeting her boyfriend from southern China whom she had dated for 10 years. Those 10 years were truly a period of emotional investment. Although my wife says she's happy every day, I can still sense that she's actually heartbroken. Of course, I often try to cheer her up, but our relationship has long since evolved into a familial bond. I know she needs time to heal on her own, but seeing her occasional moments of sadness and the occasional smiles she wears in public, I can tell that the man from the south has hurt her deeply. I secretly looked at some of her social media posts; they were full of self-help platitudes about helplessness and reaping what she sowed. After this experience, I feel responsible for helping my wife recover quickly. I'm also worried that this situation will affect our lives. After all, she's been with someone for 10 years, and now she's deleted all his contact information and suddenly disappeared from her life. I also feel that my wife and that man from the south are hiding something from each other.
A few days ago, I insisted on taking my wife to the provincial capital to relax and unwind. We spent the day shopping and met up with some friends from the city in the evening. After dinner, we said goodbye to our friends around 10 pm. Since we weren't tired, I suggested we go to a small bar, as there aren't many nice, atmospheric bars in our small city. We took a taxi and asked the driver to choose one. When we went in, we realized it was a disco with upbeat music—very noisy, but the atmosphere was quite good, and there were quite a few people, all dressed fashionably. The dance floor was full of men and women swaying to the music. We found a place to sit, and I ordered a few beers and a fruit platter. We gradually immersed ourselves in the music. My wife asked if I wanted to dance and relax, and I agreed. But unfortunately, I had to go to the restroom first. It took me about ten minutes to bake a cake in the restroom. When I came out, I found a man sitting at my seat, chatting with my wife. I was a little worried about my wife because there are all sorts of people there, but I didn't know what was going on until I found out. Instead of immediately returning to our seats, I stood in a corner observing. The man looked to be around 30, quite handsome, and dressed fashionably, with an eye-catching luxury watch on his arm. Because the music in the dance hall was very loud, they were chatting very close. My wife kept laughing, and I thought the man must be quite witty. After a while, my wife saw me and seemed to say something to the man. It felt like they were exchanging WeChat contacts. I saw the man scan my wife's phone and then leave his seat. When I came back, my wife dragged me to dance. We danced a few songs before getting tired, and my wife wanted to go home because I was also very tired. So we took a taxi back to the hotel. When we got to the hotel, I asked my wife who the man was. She said she didn't know him, but he just wanted to keep her company and chat until I got back. He was a good storyteller and said they had exchanged WeChat contacts but would have to delete them the next day. I didn't think much of it, because that's how bars are, and we both went to sleep.
The next day, we planned to go for a walk again. Because I hadn't exercised for years and was too tired from clubbing the night before, I slept until noon. Go and see, it's just dinner, if you don't like it, you don't have to go." Only then did my wife agree to go and see. My wife changed into her new clothes and looked beautiful. She went to a Western restaurant and found a window seat to wait for the man. I told her I was going to see a movie by myself, hoping for a romantic encounter. My wife even wished me good luck. Actually, I wasn't comfortable with that, so I drove out and parked across from the restaurant. After waiting a while, I found a good parking spot. This spot allowed me to see my wife's dining window at an angle, though there was still some distance, so I could vaguely see half of her back. Soon, the man arrived. Because of the distance and the dim lighting in the restaurant, I could only see his outline; I couldn't make out his features. I really regretted not buying binoculars! I could only see a general outline, but I could sense my wife was smiling frequently, and that they were having a good time chatting. I texted my wife, asking how it went and when we'd finished eating, as I was almost done with the movie. My wife said the conversation went well, but the man wanted to invite her to a bar after dinner. I replied that I should be careful, since it was someone she met at a bar, and I didn't know him well. My wife and the man sat in the restaurant for a long time. After they finished eating, they drank something—I couldn't see what they were drinking. A while later, my wife texted me, saying that the man wanted me to go with him to another place. I asked her what she thought and if she wanted to go. She only replied that she was a little impulsive, but she would still listen to me. When she asked me, I understood, because she was also a reader of the movie. I said, "If you want to go, go. My condition is that if anything happens, we need to go to our hotel for me to feel at ease. We need to be back in our room before midnight." My wife didn't reply. A little while later, I saw my wife and the man stand up. The man was vaguely helping my wife. They walked out of my sight. I immediately got out of the car because the door was on the other side, and I had to go around. I quickly went to the vicinity of the main entrance of the Western restaurant and saw my wife and the man get into a taxi. The man also sat in the back seat with my wife. Then the car drove away. I wanted to text my wife to ask where she was going, but I didn't because she thought I was watching a movie. I walked back to my hotel by myself. When I got to the door, I was outside. Because it was night, I couldn't see outside. They were both facing away from the door, holding hands, waiting for the elevator. After we got on the elevator, I immediately went inside and found that the elevator was on the 6th floor above my room. I sent my wife a WeChat message but she didn't reply, so I went back to my room and called her. She answered, and I told her I wanted to see a movie. She said she was at the hotel and told me to enjoy the movie, then hung up. I didn't call again. I couldn't resist going to the 6th floor of the hotel and walked slowly around like a thief. Every room seemed suspicious, and every little sound seemed suspicious. When I couldn't find her, I went back to my room and actually watched TV. I thought to myself, "It's rare for my wife to be happy. Isn't a man's life all about making his wife happy?" So I wasn't nervous anymore. I thought, "This isn't the first time." I figured I should just relax and watch TV. After all, it was in the hotel, so I felt relatively safe. Before 11:30, I heard a knock at the door. I opened it, and it was my wife. I said, "You're back." She asked me how the movie was. I said it was great, but unfortunately, I didn't have any romantic encounters. "And you, honey," she asked, "did you have fun with that man?" She said she did. After she sat down, she said, "I knew he was lying." I was still very happy, maybe that's just how we women are. Even though I knew what he meant by those things, I was genuinely happy today. The stuffy feeling in my heart disappeared. I asked my wife for more details, and she told me some things. Apparently, they booked a room upstairs from me. When they went in, the man was very polite. He played some dance music on his phone, turned on the colored lights in the room, and they danced a few songs slowly. Then, the man gently pressed his index finger to my wife's lips and kissed her. My wife was completely captivated by that kiss and said her whole body went weak. She already had a lot of feelings for him, and then... This whole process made my wife feel very romantic and respected, instead of him immediately starting to force a kiss after closing the door. Then, the two of them were completely immersed in lovemaking. My wife didn't say much, but she noticed my look and said, "Don't worry, we used condoms all three times." I asked her if they kissed each other's private parts. My wife said, "We did everything, don't ask anymore. Are you jealous?" I said, "I am jealous, but I don't care if you're happy. I feel something's wrong with your behavior lately..."
The next day I asked my wife, "Are you still in contact with that person?" She said she probably wouldn't. He claimed to be Singaporean, studying medicine here and graduating with a master's degree, and was going back to Singapore the day after tomorrow. Whether it was true or not didn't matter; his intention was just to sleep with her. The man was very courteous to the woman, and she felt comfortable with him. Last night, after we made love, my wife left. The man didn't offer her a place to stay overnight. He gave her 300 yuan for a taxi, but she refused and went back to her room. My wife said she understood; it was just a moment of indulgence, a woman's instinctive choice when she was emotionally distressed. Before, there were moral constraints, but this place changed us, freeing our hearts. I asked my wife if she had moved on from that man from the South. She said she no longer missed him at all and was completely free. "Thank you, honey," she said. I asked why, and she gave a very insightful answer. She said a female writer once said, "The path to a man's heart is through the stomach, and the path to a woman's heart is through her inner world." I thought it made a lot of sense. A woman's inner world accepts new visitors, naturally overshadowing previous ones. New visitors definitely have an impact on a woman's heart, just like the old saying about how relationships between relatives are like layers of skin and mountains. Inner world also has memories that influence a woman's feelings. Thinking of this, I immediately pushed my wife down and made love to her, because I wanted to quickly mark my love in my inner world! If you hadn't read this, I probably wouldn't understand what I'm sharing. Now that I see my wife has completely moved on, we are both happy.
