My best friend's wife cheated on me

I've been comforting a friend lately; he's going through a divorce with his wife. She wants a divorce, but he doesn't want to because of the children. After the Lunar New Year, I went back to Tianjin, and my friend suggested we get together. My family of three went, along with his family and another couple. When I saw him, he looked tired, aged, and haggard. I teased him, saying he looked so much older after the New Year, and he just smiled and didn't say anything. A few days later, I went to his shop to pick up some goods. He told me they were getting a divorce because they'd been arguing all year. He couldn't take it anymore and told me. Apparently, last October, when he went out to buy goods, his wife went out two nights after the children fell asleep. The children woke up in the middle of the night and, finding her gone, waited until dawn before returning. The children told him about it. He couldn't accept it and questioned his wife. She said she couldn't sleep and went out for a walk. He even checked her phone, her WeChat, and deleted suspicious messages. Would you do that? After that, he started being cold towards his wife. Even when she initiated contact, he wouldn't sleep. Finally, his wife filed for divorce. Later, I told him that if he didn't want a divorce, he should just accept it and be open-minded. His wife is actually a very good person; she's very considerate in public and treats his family very well. I told him to forgive her, but she kept denying it, swearing she didn't do anything wrong. Do you believe that? For people like us who've been to 69, isn't it normal for our wives to be cheated on? But my friend isn't like that. In the end, I advised him to be patient, not to argue with his wife, and to let her calm down gradually. Things have gotten better in the last few days. Yesterday, I chatted with his wife on WeChat because I buy goods from his store. She still told me about how she hasn't reciprocated her efforts and how she's become disheartened. She doesn't know that my friend has mentioned divorce to me. It feels like the woman has either changed her mind or has someone else in her heart; they're truly sleeping in the same bed but dreaming different dreams. Talking to my friend sometimes makes me feel pathetic. He's been cheated on, yet he's in such a passive position. A man's magnanimity is truly stretched by grievances. My friend and I are both from out of town and live in Tianjin. We love our children very much and don't want them to suffer. We want them to have a complete family. My friend lost his mother when he was four years old and was raised by his father. He doesn't want his children to suffer.
