A crucial half-step (first time meeting a single man)

Yesterday, having nothing to do, I casually asked about the single guy I'd been chatting with for two years. He happened to be passing through our area on his way back from Guilin, so we planned to meet him for dinner. I asked my wife what she thought. Initially, she was a little reluctant (she was a bit tired from working overtime on the weekend), but considering I was also with him and we were getting along well, she agreed to meet him. It seemed like
C-ge arrived quite early, and we waited for about two hours before we met (my wife came home from work and took a shower). C-ge and I had a great chat, having talked a lot online, so there was no awkwardness. My wife, however, was a little nervous and embarrassed meeting C-ge for the first time. Throughout the meal, C-ge and I did most of the talking, with my wife only occasionally chiming in. Later, we went out to find a coffee shop to sit down and chat, and my wife suggested... We decided to take a walk together. During the walk, my wife and C started talking a little, though not much, but it felt like progress (I was even wondering if we could make it happen that night). C was very genuine, and although my wife was a little uncomfortable, he respected her, which was great. C asked if I wanted to book a room, and I asked my wife. She hesitated for a moment (probably a little surprised, still a bit hesitant about doing it on our first meeting), then said we should get to know each other better before deciding. C respected my wife's wishes, telling her it was up to her and hoping everyone would relax and have fun. Then we all prepared to go home. Before leaving, C even put his arm around my wife, and she didn't resist. That's how our first meeting ended.
Although we didn't make it happen, we took a crucial step. When I asked my wife about it later, she said it was too awkward the first time, and she was also tired from working overtime, so she wasn't in the mood. Fortunately, she felt good about C and was willing to continue exploring the relationship. I should also mention that C is indeed very genuine and respectful of my wife, giving us a very good impression. We hope things can develop well, and I look forward to making it happen as we get to know each other better (it feels like it'll happen soon).
