Eight SPA Massage Techniques

In aromatherapy massage, the techniques are generally gentle, as gentleness awakens the most subtle sensory cells and promotes better physical and mental health.
Aromatherapy massage techniques can be varied as needed, as long as you adhere to these four principles:
1. Massage with care, making the recipient feel warm.
2. Move slowly, avoiding rushing which can increase tension. Inquire about the recipient's feelings regularly to adjust the pressure.
3. Coordinate the massage techniques with the recipient's breathing; this will make the process smoother and more comfortable for the massage therapist.
4. Perform with awareness. Massaging with a caring and warm heart will create a completely different experience for the recipient—subtle and indescribable, but truly perceptible.
How to apply massage oil:
First, pour a suitable amount of massage oil into your palm. Rub your palms together slightly to warm them, ensuring the oil is evenly distributed. Then, begin the massage. Do not pour the massage oil directly onto the body.
Long Push:
Method: Long pushes are commonly used in aromatherapy massage. Place both hands together on the body and slowly slide them forward, releasing stable pressure through the palms and heels of the hands.
Commonly Used Areas: Suitable for larger areas, such as the back, entire legs, or arms.
Short Push:
Method: Short pushes are also frequently used in aromatherapy massage. Alternate hands, pushing forward about two hand lengths, slowly moving forward.
Commonly Used Areas: More commonly used on smaller areas, such as the calves, thighs, and shoulders, to enhance the massage of those muscles.
Large Row:
Method: The large row is also a long push technique. It usually starts from the middle and moves upwards, then the hands slide back down along the sides of the body to the starting point.
Commonly Used Areas: Typically used for larger, longer movements, such as the back and entire legs, and is often used as a starting and ending movement.
Acupressure:
Method: Open the thumb and form a right angle with the four fingers, supporting the body with the four fingers. Apply pressure with the thumb.
Commonly used areas: Along the spine, arms, and midline of the legs. Apply pressure along a straight line, slowly moving upwards from a fixed point.
Gentle kneading:
Grasp the torso or shoulder with your thumb and four fingers, and knead up and down.
Commonly used areas: Often used for localized massage, but gradually covering the entire area. Commonly used on the torso and abdomen. For example, after a leg massage, use gentle kneading to assist in a more thorough and complete massage of the area.
Kneading:
Use your thumb and four fingers to massage like kneading dough.
Commonly used areas: Usually used on stiffer muscles, most commonly on the limbs and shoulders, but the pressure should not be too strong; light and slow is best.
Figure-
eight motion: Starting from one end, push diagonally upwards, then back around, and then diagonally downwards back to the starting point.
Commonly used areas: Commonly used on the chest and upper back, usually when the masseur stands to the side of the recipient. Sometimes also used for the entire back massage.
Waves:
How to use: With both hands, draw regular semi-circles from left to right or right to left, moving outwards sequentially.
Commonly used areas: Suitable for applying massage oil or helping to stabilize the recipient's emotions; often used on large areas such as calves, thighs, and back.
