Sinking into the Sea of Desire: A Wife-Swapping Victim's Confession - Chapter 673 Standing Up for Her 1

I stopped, somewhat surprised and a little doubtful. It was an open-air parking lot with many cars parked there. A figure stood by the roadside, looking towards the hotel entrance, but was blocked by the cars; I could only see a silhouette from the side.
As I slowly walked closer, the closer I got, the more I felt that it resembled my wife's figure. I was very nervous, and my heart was pounding. But then I thought, my wife would not lie to me, and another name popped into my mind.
It was almost dark, and the streetlights hadn't been turned on yet. It was dim and dark. I could only see clearly when I was just a few meters away. I felt relieved and breathed a sigh of relief.
The figure also saw me, but she seemed more surprised than I was, and asked first, "What are you doing here?"
"I was just about to ask you that!" I smiled faintly. The person in front of me was none other than Dou'er, whom I hadn't contacted in a long time. No wonder I almost mistook her for someone else. However, she had lost a lot of weight and looked somewhat haggard.
"I'm looking for someone." Perhaps noticing my gaze, Dou'er tidied her long hair that was casually draped over her face.
"Who are you looking for?" I asked.
Dou'er smiled but didn't answer.
"Go inside if you're looking for someone. What are you doing standing outside in this cold weather?" I said, a little worried about Dou'er's appearance and recent situation.
"He's not inside." After a long silence, Dou'er finally said with a wry smile.
"Then why come here to look for it?" I wondered.
Seemingly unwilling to speak, she paused for a long time. Seeing that I was not willing to give up, Dou'er smiled bitterly and said, "I don't know where to look for him. I only know that he often appears here."
"Let's go inside and eat while we wait. Your nose is all red from the cold." I guessed that Dou'er had something on her mind, but for some reason, she seemed reluctant to tell me. I invited her to speak.
"Thank you, you go ahead, I won't go in." Dou'er shook her head with a wry smile.
"What's wrong? Haven't seen each other for a while, are you getting distant?" I asked deliberately.
"No, it's just..."
Dou'er was about to refuse when I interrupted her, pulling her up and saying, "What do you mean 'no'? It's just... let's go!"
"I'm really not going!" Dou'er struggled with me. I didn't let go, and after a few steps of pulling, she shook off my hand and roared as if she had exploded, "I don't have any money!"
I was a little stunned by the strong reaction, but seeing her red eyes and sniffling as if she was about to cry, I felt a little sorry for her and said with a smile, "Don't worry, you don't have to pay the bill." Then I took her hand.
Dou'er dodged away, shrieking, "I'm not going either, you go by yourself..."
Her words were cut off by my embrace, and I pulled her into my arms. I don't know how long we stood in the cold wind; her delicate body was icy, initially stiff, then quickly trembling slightly. Wearing my coat, I couldn't feel the warmth of her tears, but I knew she was crying. Even amidst the world's troubles, she had once been so vibrant; what had made her so vulnerable now? Although I didn't know what had happened, I sensed her emotional instability. Regardless of whether she viewed what happened in the past as merely a transaction, I still harbored some feelings for her.
"Let's go!" I patted Dou'er's back twice to comfort her and let her out of my arms.
Perhaps not quite ready, Dou'er hurriedly wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes. At first, she followed my steps, but as we approached the door, she slowly fell behind.
"What's wrong?" I asked, turning around in confusion.
Dou'er smiled faintly and shook her head gently.
"Let's go quickly, it's warmer inside," I said, tempting him helplessly.
Seemingly frightened, Dou'er's steps grew smaller and smaller. Before she had taken more than a few steps, a fierce male voice came from the shop entrance: "Why are you here again? I've already told you, there's no one here. Get out of here and don't get in our way."
Dou'er froze in shock. I turned around and saw a waitress in her early twenties, wearing a white shirt and a small bow tie. She was staring intently at Dou'er with a look of disgust on her face. I said, "Isn't this a restaurant?"
"It's a restaurant!" the waiter replied, startled.
"Then why did you kick the guest out?" I asked stiffly.
"Oh, I'm sorry, don't misunderstand, I wasn't talking about you, I was talking about her!" the waiter said, pointing to Dou'er not far behind him.
"I didn't misunderstand, I was talking about her. Isn't she a customer?" It would have been better if I hadn't pointed it out, but seeing the waiter's contemptuous attitude made me even more annoyed. I finally understood why Dou'er didn't want to come along. Perhaps it wasn't that she didn't want to come, but that she was afraid to come.
"Who are you to her?" the waiter asked, puzzled.
"Never mind who I am to her." I replied coldly, too lazy to explain.
Seeing my unfriendly tone, the waiter smiled apologetically and said, "Sir, you don't know, she comes to our store every day looking for someone, but she doesn't eat anything. We're worried that she'll affect the customers, so the manager said that no matter if we kick her out or scold her, we can't let her into the store, otherwise I'll get a scolding."
"Who's your manager? Call him out and say it again." The more he said it, the angrier I got.
"Hehe, our manager isn't here," the waiter said with a laugh.
Knowing the waiter was playing coy, I laughed and said, "Really? That's perfect. Let's go in now and wait for the manager to come back. Let's see if he can kick us out." Then I turned around, grabbed Dou'er's hand, and said, "Let's go!"
Dou'er was a little nervous and held me very tightly. I squeezed her cold hand to comfort her.
"Hey! Sir, you can't do this. You're putting me in a difficult position." As soon as I entered the store, the waiter blocked my way.
"Isn't the manager not here? Why are you being made to be difficult? He doesn't even know we've entered the store." I pulled Dou'er along and we walked around the waiter.
The commotion at the entrance naturally attracted the attention of some people inside. Unable to do anything about us, the waiter could only look inside. There stood a short, stout man in his thirties, wearing a tie. I noticed the waiter's actions and guessed that he was the manager. Perhaps sensing my unfriendly attitude, the short, stout man waved for the waiter to leave.
I pulled out a chair for Dou'er and helped her sit down. I picked up the menu from the table, but the waiters all looked at each other and no one came over for a while. So I deliberately called out loudly, "Waiter, I'd like to order."
Several idle waiters looked at the manager, who nodded, and then one of the waiters rushed over and said, "Excuse me, sir, what would you like to eat?"
"What kind of service is this? I've been sitting here for so long and no one has come to serve me," I questioned.
"I'm sorry, sir, we're a bit overwhelmed with guests tonight." The waiter lied through his teeth.
"Serve us tea first, we're thirsty." Too lazy to argue with him, I dismissed him, handing the menu to Dou'er and saying, "Order whatever you want."
Dou'er looked at me, hesitant to accept the food, but I smiled and said, "Don't be shy, order whatever you like."
To my surprise, Dou'er casually ordered a few side dishes, which made me a little upset. When the waiter came over, I flipped to the back of the menu and ordered all the most expensive dishes, plus two bottles of good wine.
During the meal, Dou'er kept saying not to order too much, as it would be a waste if we couldn't finish it. I smiled and said it was okay, someone would pay the bill. Dou'er seemed a little confused, but the waiter next to us was very happy, wrote down the menu, and excitedly ran to the kitchen.
After ordering, Dou'er asked me suspiciously who would pay the bill. I didn't answer, giving a knowing look that we'd find out soon enough.
Perhaps because we ordered a lot of food, the kitchen took priority and the food came out quickly. I urged Dou'er to eat, and at first she was mindful of her manners, chewing slowly, but towards the end she wolfed down her food, completely disregarding her image. She seemed really hungry, and worried she might choke, I kept pouring her more wine and telling her to eat slowly.
During a break in the meal, she even urged me to eat, and I smiled and nodded, joining her for a drink. Regardless, seeing her complexion gradually regain its rosy hue and she regain some color made me very happy.
We definitely ordered too much food; there wasn't enough room on the table. The earlier dishes were only eaten a little before being cleared away, and the later ones were cleared away without anyone even touching them. Even though Dou'er was extremely hungry, the table was still full of untouched dishes.
More than half an hour later, Dou'er leaned back in her chair, rubbing her lower abdomen, and said, "I can't eat anymore."
"There's still a big dish that hasn't been served yet." I couldn't help but chuckle.
"What fancy dish? Tell the kitchen to stop making it, it's a waste of money." Dou'er said with a burp, and perhaps because I saw her looking even more disheveled, she stopped trying to hide it.
"It's okay, someone else will pay," I said with a smile.
"Who? They said someone would pay the bill before we even started eating, but we've finished and no one's here yet." Dou'er turned and looked around.
“He’s been here the whole time,” I said.
"Where?" Dou'er asked incredulously.
"I'll show up in a bit," I said mysteriously, then poured wine for Dou'er and said, "It's okay if you don't eat the food, but you can't leave any wine. Come on, bottoms up."
"Playing tricks." A smile finally appeared on Dou'er's face.
Soon, a waiter carried a wine jar on a tray to the table, and the waiter following behind took the wine jar and introduced, "The last dish, Buddha Jumps Over the Wall, is here!"
