“You know it’s impossible.” He picked her up, took off her embroidered shoes, and then put her little feet under the quilt, his tone as gentle as ever.

Mingruo closed her eyes with tears in her eyes and refused to respond to him. Emperor Xuli was not angry. He just held her and coaxed and kissed her until Mingruo fell into a deep sleep.
From that day on, Mingruo developed a high fever, became delirious, and mumbled incoherently all day long. The Imperial Hospital was extremely worried about her, but they couldn't understand why the Empress's fever wouldn't subside, and even a moment of lucidity became a luxury.
