Ten Elements of Human Destiny

Ancient people believed that many factors influence a person's fortune, misfortune, wealth, poverty, and social status throughout their life, but the ten most important elements are commonly referred to as "first, fate; second, luck; third, feng shui; fourth, accumulating good deeds; fifth, studying; sixth, name; seventh, appearance; eighth, respecting gods; ninth, associating with noble people; and tenth, maintaining health."
Below, I will provide a simple interpretation of these ten elements.
I. Fate – Innate Genes
The fate referred to by the ancients is a person's birth chart (Ba Zi), which essentially uses the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches to represent their birth time.
Confucius said, "Without knowing fate, one cannot be a gentleman," "At thirty, one stands firm; at forty, one is free from doubt; at fifty, one knows the mandate of heaven," and "Among all living beings, each has their own fate, diverse and ever-changing."
Fourteen billion people can be subdivided into approximately five hundred thousand similar fates. Should one pursue literature or martial arts? Mental or physical labor? Economics or politics? Be a boss or an employee? Go ashore or venture into business?
If a person acts in accordance with the characteristics of their fate, it is like going with the flow, smooth sailing; conversely, it is like rowing against the current, achieving half the result with twice the effort.
II. Luck – Opportunities After Birth
Luck is like the seasons, changing every ten years.
Life is roughly divided into four stages: childhood, youth, middle age, and old age. Some people are prosperous throughout their lives, while others are declining; some are prosperous in their early years, some in their middle years, and some in their later years. Gan Luo became the Prime Minister of Qin at the age of twelve, and Jiang Ziya met King Wen at the age of eighty. Opportunities are fleeting. One must be able to advance and retreat, rise and fall. Strive actively when luck is good, and retreat when luck is bad.
The times are a kind of environment. The same fate leads to different destinies in different eras. One must make choices according to the times; when successful, benefit all under heaven; when unsuccessful, cultivate oneself.
III. Feng Shui – Environmental Influence
Auspicious land produces thriving crops, and an auspicious dwelling produces thriving people. The ancients long ago said: "Beautiful mountains and clear waters produce beauties, while barren mountains and bad waters produce wicked people," and "One's environment shapes one's character."
Those near water are often wise, and those near mountains are often righteous. People from southern Jiangsu are often literary talents, while people from northern Jiangsu are often political figures. Leaders and the wealthy are often born in places with beautiful scenery, nestled against mountains and facing water, where the wind is favorable and energy gathers.
Feng shui encompasses both the macro and micro environments. Macro feng shui includes topography, roads, greenery, water sources, orientation, temperature, and humidity. Micro feng shui includes shape and structure, light, air, water sources, color, doors and windows, furniture placement, and cleanliness.
Good feng shui requires not only an auspicious macro environment but also an auspicious micro environment.
Fourth, Accumulating Virtue – Good Deeds Bring Good Fortune
: "Virtue is never alone; it always has neighbors."
High virtue earns respect. The better one's character, the more support one receives, and the better one's destiny.
Good deeds bring good rewards, and evil deeds bring evil consequences; retribution may be delayed, but it will come. Earning rewards through good deeds is a natural principle, a balance that cannot be violated. Those who do not accept what is given will be punished.
Do not refrain from doing good because it is small, nor do evil because it is small.
Fifth, Studying – Knowledge and Skills:
Of all things, only studying is truly valuable.
Teenagers should study science to build a solid foundation;
young and middle-aged people should study Confucianism to understand the importance of benefiting others when successful and cultivating oneself when unsuccessful
; the elderly should study Taoism to focus on physical and mental health;
and the late-life should study Buddhism, recognizing that worldly prosperity is meaningless and clarifying the direction of the soul.
VI. Name – A Symbol Accompanying One Throughout Life A
name serves as a life code and informational code, indispensable to everyone.
A name is used throughout life, like a lifelong advertising slogan, extremely important.
Therefore, it's not the birth of a child that's the problem, but the wrong name. Giving a child a thousand pieces of gold is not as good as giving them a good name.
Basic requirements for naming or changing a name: the name should have auspicious meaning, be in harmony with the birth chart's Yin-Yang and Five Elements, have auspicious stroke counts, a smooth and harmonious tone, stable and evenly spaced characters, and be compatible with the child's zodiac sign.
VII. Appearance – The Outer Manifestation of Spirit and Energy
Bone structure determines one's life's fortunes, and complexion reflects the years of life.
A full figure, ruddy complexion, bright eyes, clear speech, and a resonant voice indicate good interpersonal relationships. A dark forehead, lifeless eyes, incoherent speech, staggering posture, pointed mouth and monkey-like cheeks—a wicked and unpleasant appearance.
Face reading: Three divisions and three talents, four academies, five sacred mountains and four rivers, five planets and six luminaries, nine continents and eight trigrams, twelve palaces, annual luck and location song…
Two hands: Heavenly lines, earthly lines, human lines, jade pillar lines, lunar halo lines, travel and mystery lines…
Three bodies: Round waist and thick shoulders, broad back and bear-like waist, arched abdomen and drooping body, hands long past the knees…
Four movements: Dragon-like gait and tiger-like stride, lion-like turning head, smiling without showing teeth, walking without showing feet, still as a pine, sitting like a bell, walking like the wind…
Five voices: Speech has volume, clarity, speed, truthfulness, thickness, coldness, and heat…
Six hearts: The heart precedes the form, the form follows the heart. Before observing appearance, judge the heart. Evil eyes indicate evil, kind eyes indicate a kind heart. Cultivate virtue in the heart, and good or bad fortune can be easily changed…
Eight, Reverence for Gods—Connecting with Heaven and Earth.
The major religions with long histories have a profound influence and all possess inherent knowledge value.
The vast existence of temples and churches over millennia symbolizes humanity's yearning to communicate with the divine. Despite the difficulty, people persist.
The true God requires heartfelt connection; sincerity brings results!
IX. Befriending Noble People – Like
Attracting Like-Minded Individuals: One is influenced by one's company.
Those with morality, knowledge, financial resources, and management skills are noble people. Drinking buddies, frivolous friends, drug addicts, thieves, and lawbreakers are petty people.
Cultivate relationships with seven types of noble people: those with morality, wisdom, power, wealth, health, beauty, and information. Befriending noble people requires
fate; those destined will meet even from afar, while those without fate will remain strangers.
X. Nourishing Life – The Path to Longevity :
Heaven has three treasures: the sun, the moon, and the stars; humanity has three treasures: essence
, energy, and spirit. Physical and mental health enable balanced thinking and a calm mind; physical and mental health allows for correct decisions and actions; physical and mental health brings happiness and blessings.
