"Your hands are so cold, go get some hot water and wash them, they're unbearably cold." The laughter from inside drew my attention. I glanced into the bedroom and saw my wife already covered herself with a thick quilt. She was about to come out to wash her hands when our eyes met. She said, "It's really chilly in here this time of year, buddy, you should warm your hands too." Her words eased some of the awkwardness. I said, "It's just like this this year; I've never felt this cold before." The air warmed up considerably. I called to my wife, "Aren't you going to wash them?" She replied, "I'll warm them up first, then I'll wash them after you two." My wife was shivering exaggeratedly under the covers. Actually, with the quilt on, it wouldn't be that cold; perhaps it was just her nervousness!
