[Wuxia Time Travel] The Alluring Beauty of the Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber (Complete) - Part 2

Chapter 005 The Beautiful Abbess Miejue Traveling

at breakneck speed, Zhang Wuji and his companions caught up with the main force of the Emei Sect in just three days. Of course, during these three days, the scenery inside the carriage was breathtaking. Zhang Wuji spent every moment entwined with Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu, making the two women even more obedient and compliant to him. They were so comfortable that they didn't want to return to the Emei Sect as disciples, wishing this relationship could last forever, ideally the three of them remaining together in this way forever.

But what was destined to happen would eventually happen! The thought of reaching Bright Peak and mastering the Great Shift of the Universe filled Zhang Wuji with irrepressible excitement. Although he couldn't remember his exact path eight hundred years ago, he was certain of one thing: following the main force of the Emei Sect, rescuing people out of righteousness, meeting Xiao Zhao and Yang Buhui, triggering the secret passage event, encountering Cheng Kun, being trapped in the secret passage, and ultimately accidentally mastering the Great Shift of the Universe. Zhang Wuji was very clear about the main events, but he was unaware of many details. Therefore, he was essentially taking it one step at a time, hoping to follow the path of eight hundred years ago.

When they were about to catch up with the main Emei Sect force, Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu became the drivers of the carriage, while he feigned injury, posing as both Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu inside.

From afar, the hundreds of Emei Sect disciples stood out. They weren't all female disciples as Zhang Wuji had imagined; there were actually quite a few male disciples, though female disciples were the majority. The male-to-female ratio among Emei Sect disciples was probably 3:7, and because the sect leaders had always been women, the female disciples held a significantly higher status than the male disciples! The female disciples' main studies were cultivation and martial arts! The male disciples, on the other hand, did some work related to the Emei Sect's daily needs—in other words, they did errands and ran errands for the female disciples, and incidentally practiced martial arts as well. In the Emei Sect, female disciples lived in beautiful and well-treated houses on the mountain, while male disciples lived at the foot of the mountain in simpler conditions, and their martial arts training was conducted separately.

The lives of the Emei female disciples were not as harsh as Zhang Wuji had imagined; on the contrary, they were very privileged, basically having everything done for them, as the male disciples provided for their needs. They only needed to focus on chanting scriptures, cultivating their Taoist practice, and practicing martial arts.

The female disciples of the Emei Sect didn't wear the gray or blue Taoist robes depicted in the TV series; instead, they wore purple-pink robes, which were very beautiful and looked stunning on them. Most of the female disciples were pretty and fresh-faced. Even without makeup, they were exceptionally beautiful.

Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu were both direct disciples of Abbess Miejue, so they naturally had to report back to their master upon their return. It was already dark, so the Emei disciples set up camp on the spot.

Abbess Miejue inquired about Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu's recent relief efforts for Wu Family Manor and Red Plum Manor. Upon hearing of Wei Bi's betrayal, which resulted in Wu Lie's death and the complete annihilation of Wu Family Manor and Red Plum Manor, she was filled with rage. "Those villains of White Camel Mountain are so arrogant! After we destroy the demonic sect at Bright Peak, we will wipe out all the bandits of White Camel Mountain!"

Zhang Wuji, inside the carriage, couldn't see Abbess Miejue's face because of the curtain. Remembering Ding Minjun and the others saying she was only in her early forties, and hearing her voice—powerful yet clear—he couldn't resist seeing what she looked like. So he gently lifted the carriage curtain. He saw Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu standing respectfully before a middle-aged woman, who was undoubtedly Abbess Miejue.

When Zhang Wuji first saw Abbess Miejue, he was immediately struck by her stunning beauty. Compared to her disciples Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu, Abbess Miejue paled in comparison, like the moon compared to a firefly. Her advantage was more than just a slight one. Abbess Miejue was breathtakingly beautiful, tall and slender, with an elegant and noble bearing, like a goddess descended from heaven. Her facial features possessed a rare, clearly sculpted beauty. Her eyes were clear and bright; while her cheekbones were slightly high, they accentuated her straight and powerful nose, giving her a unique and captivating charm, and conveying a sense of independence and unwavering will. Her delicate, long eyebrows were alluring, and her bright, dark eyes exuded classical beauty. Her full, firm breasts, slender waist, and long legs gave her an air of proud superiority and grace. "Damn, this isn't the old, ugly, cold, and heartless spinster psychopath portrayed on TV at all! The real Abbess Miejue is practically a fairy descended from heaven, a goddess!

" "Who's in that carriage?" Abbess Miejue demanded sharply. Clearly, as a top-tier martial arts master, she had already noticed Zhang Wuji peeking inside the carriage.

Ding Minjun immediately explained, "This is the benefactor who saved me and Junior Sister Zhao on the way. His leg is broken, so we hired a carriage."

"How could you afford a carriage?" Abbess Miejue looked at Ding Minjun and said, "Tell me how much it cost to buy this carriage?"

Ding Minjun hadn't expected her master to ask such detailed questions. Just as she didn't know how to answer, she heard Zhang Wuji's voice in her ear. It must have been a secret telepathic communication technique. How did Zhang Wuji know? Ding Minjun was greatly surprised, but she didn't care about that at the moment and answered according to Zhang Wuji's instructions: "The carriage cost a total of thirteen taels of silver, and this money..."

"Where did this money come from?" Abbess Miejue pressed.

Ding Minjun lowered her head and said, "When Wu Lie, the head of the Wu Family Manor, died, he was right beside me. I checked his body for any tokens that could be given to Miss Wu Qingying, and I found a money pouch on him with some silver inside! Master, this disciple did not steal anything..."

Abbess Miejue snorted, "Although you didn't steal from the living, you shouldn't take what belongs to the dead. The silver on Wu Lie's body should be returned to Miss Wu Qingying. You misappropriated it, which violates the rules and regulations of the Emei Sect. Now I punish you by making you face the wall for a month, and I will also deduct half of your monthly expenses as repayment."

"Yes, this disciple will obey your teachings!" Although Ding Minjun felt a little wronged, she dared not disobey Abbess Miejue's wishes and could only nod in acceptance.

Abbess Miejue looked at Zhao Lingzhu beside her and said, "As a fellow disciple, you didn't stop your senior sister from doing something wrong. You will both be sent to reflect on your actions."

Zhao Lingzhu was even more wronged than Ding Minjun; she was caught in the crossfire even though she remained silent. However, like Ding Minjun, she respectfully replied, "Yes, disciple will obey your teachings!"

After punishing her disciple, Abbess Miejue addressed the other disciples, saying, "Wherever you go and whatever you do, remember that you are disciples of the Emei Sect. Your actions represent the image of the Emei Sect. Therefore, when you travel the martial world, you must remember the rules and regulations of the Emei Sect. Never think that you can do whatever you want just because no one is watching!"

"Yes, Master, we will obey your teachings!" All the Emei Sect disciples nodded in unison after hearing Abbess Miejue's words.

Zhang Wuji was deeply impressed by Abbess Miejue's supreme authority as the sect leader and her strict management of the Emei Sect. Although he felt it was somewhat inhumane, Zhang Wuji, who came from the 21st century, understood very well that the Red Army's victories relied on the "Three Main Rules of Discipline and Eight Points for Attention," and even modern companies implement military-style management for their employees. From this perspective, Abbess Miejue was definitely ahead of her time.

Abbess Miejue lifted the carriage curtain, looked at Zhang Wuji, and asked, "What's your name?"

"Zeng Aniu!" Zhang Wuji replied.

Abbess Miejue nodded and said, "This carriage was purchased by my Emei Sect disciples, so it belongs to the Emei Sect. We have many wounded female disciples who need to travel, so the carriage is now being requisitioned by our sect. Please get off the carriage..."

Zhang Wuji was greatly surprised by Abbess Miejue's handling of the matter.

At this moment, Ding Minjun walked over and said, "But Master, he... he has broken his leg!"

Abbess Miejue said, "That's easy. Take a wooden board, tie it to the back of the carriage, let this young master Zeng sit on the board, and let the carriage pull him along."

Zhang Wuji wanted to be angry, but remembering that Abbess Miejue was also showing compassion to her female disciples, he decided not to argue and nodded, "Alright."

Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu then rushed forward to help Zhang Wuji down from the carriage. Having spent many days intimately with him, they had completely forgotten the proper distance between men and women.

"What are you two doing?" Abbess Miejue scolded, "Don't you know men and women shouldn't touch each other?"

Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu were shocked and quickly retreated. Other male disciples of the Emei Sect then stepped forward to help Zhang Wuji down.

Zhang Wuji thought to himself, "What do you mean by 'men and women shouldn't touch each other'? These two disciples have kissed me countless times already! What part of my body haven't I touched!"

Zhang Wuji saw many Emei Sect disciples, including many beautiful and charming female disciples, but he didn't see Zhou Zhiruo.

Although Zhang Wuji had never met Zhou Zhiruo, he knew very well that she was a great beauty, far more beautiful than Ding Minjun and the others. However, looking around, Zhang Wuji couldn't find any beauty far surpassing Ding Minjun and the others.

If he had to name one, it would only be Abbess Miejue.

The Emei Sect set up camp, and the male disciples busied themselves setting up tents, cooking, and boiling water. Abbess Miejue, on the other hand, summoned all the important disciples for a meeting.

Abbess Miejue said, "The vampire demon we encountered today is one of the four kings of the Demonic Sect, the 'Green-Winged Bat King.' I've long heard that his lightness skill is unparalleled, and it truly lives up to its reputation, far surpassing mine. Therefore, when you encounter him, it's best to avoid him if possible, and not waste your lives fighting him." Zhang

Wuji was deeply impressed by Abbess Miejue's concern for her disciples. Even when facing a formidable enemy, she didn't speak ill of their martial arts prowess. She praised Wei Yixiao's lightness skill, saying she herself was inferior, truly displaying the demeanor of a master. Zhang Wuji couldn't help but admire her.

A disciple nearby said resentfully, "He's afraid to fight Master, only running away. What kind of hero is that?"

Abbess Miejue snorted, then suddenly slapped him across the face, angrily saying, "Master didn't catch him, didn't save your junior sister, so he's the winner. The outcome is known to all. Do heroes and good men are self-proclaimed?"

The disciple's cheek immediately swelled up, and she bowed, saying, "Master is right, I know I was wrong." But in her heart, she thought, "You couldn't do anything to him, lost face, and now this anger is being vented on me. I'm so unlucky!"

Another disciple nearby asked, "Master, what is the background of this 'Green-Winged Bat King'? Please tell us." "

Abbess Miejue waved her hand, ignoring the disciples' questions, and walked forward on her own. She stared at the bonfire, motionless, like a stone statue. Seeing her silence, none of the disciples dared to utter a sound.

Suddenly, Abbess Miejue thrust out her palms, a gust of wind swept through, and with a whoosh, the large fire was instantly extinguished. The crowd remained silent. The cold moonlight shone on their shoulders.

Then Abbess Miejue shouted, 'Extinguish this demonic fire! Destroy this evil fire!' She paused, then slowly said, 'The Demonic Sect regards fire as sacred, reveres it as divine. Since the death of the thirty-third leader, Yang Dingtian, the Demonic Sect has been without a leader. The Left and Right Bright Messengers, the Four Great Protectors, the Five Wanderers, and the flag bearers of the Five Banners (Gold, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth) all covet the position of leader, fighting and killing each other, and the Demonic Sect has declined as a result.'" "It is the proper time for the righteous sects to prosper, and for the evil ones to perish. If the demons do not cause internal strife, it will be extremely difficult to eliminate these monsters."

Although Zhang Wuji had transmigrated, he actually knew very little about martial arts history. Moreover, who could remember everything in the vast historical scroll? Zhang Wuji only knew some important figures and events. As for the minor details, he could only learn them as he traveled the martial world.

At this moment, he heard Abbess Miejue mention the Demonic Sect and immediately listened attentively.

Abbess Miejue said, "The successive leaders of the Demonic Sect used the 'Sacred Flame Token' as a token for succession. However, when it came to the thirty-first leader, Heaven took away his soul, and the Sacred Flame Token was somehow lost. The thirty-second and thirty-third leaders..." The two successive leaders of the thirteenth generation had power but no authority, making their leadership rather precarious. Yang Dingtian's sudden death, whether from poisoning or assassination, left no time to designate a successor. The Demonic Sect had many powerful demons, at least five or six qualified to be leader, leading to internal strife and conflict. Even now, a leader had not been chosen. The one we've encountered today is also someone who wants to be leader. He is one of the four great protectors of the Demonic Sect, the Green-Winged Bat King, Wei Yixiao.

The disciples of Enping had never heard of "Green-Winged Bat King Wei Yixiao" before and remained silent. But Zhang Wuji knew the name like the thunder in his ears, regretting that he had arrived too late and missed meeting him; otherwise, he could have followed him directly to Bright Peak.

Abbess Miejue said, "This man has never set foot in the Central Plains. The members of the Demonic Cult are extremely secretive, so although his martial arts are strong, he has no reputation whatsoever in the Central Plains. But you must know the White-Browed Eagle King Yin Tianzheng and the Golden-Haired Lion King Xie Xun, right?"

Yin Tianzheng and Xie Xun were renowned names; who in the martial arts world didn't know them?

A disciple named Jingxuan asked, "Master, are these two also in the Demonic Cult?" Abbess

Miejue replied, "Hmph! It's not just 'both in the Demonic Cult'!" "The Four Kings of the Demonic Sect: Purple-Robed Dragon King, White-Browed Eagle King, Golden-Haired Lion King, and Green-Winged Bat King." The Green-Winged Bat King is ranked last, and everyone has witnessed his skills today; the abilities of the Purple-Robed, White-Browed, and Golden-Haired Bat Kings are self-evident. The Golden-Haired Lion King was ruthless and cruel, committing heinous acts. Over twenty years ago, he suddenly began indiscriminately killing innocent people and disappeared without a trace, becoming a great mystery in the martial arts world.

Yin Tianzheng, failing to become the leader of the Demonic Sect, angrily founded the Heavenly Eagle Sect to experience the life of a sect leader himself. "I thought that since Yin Tianzheng had betrayed the Demonic Sect, he and Bright Peak were now sworn enemies. Who

would have thought that when Bright Peak faced danger, it would still seek help from the Eagle Sect?" Abbess Miejue said, "Our six major sects are determined to win this campaign against Bright Peak. With all the demons and evil spirits united, what do we have to fear? However, there will inevitably be many casualties in the battle. Everyone must first be prepared to die for the cause and not take chances or show fear. Otherwise, we will bring shame to the Emei Sect when facing the enemy." All the disciples stood up and bowed in agreement.

Abbess Miejue continued, “Martial arts prowess is determined by innate talent and opportunity; it cannot be forced. But today, without even exchanging a single move, she was ambushed and died at the hands of a vampire demon. No one will laugh at her. What is the purpose of our martial arts training? Isn't it to uphold justice and eliminate evil? Today, our Emei Sect has lost its first disciple; perhaps the second will be your master. The six major sects—Shaolin, Wudang, Emei, Kunlun, Kongtong, and Huashan—are besieging the Demonic Sect. Whether it brings good or bad fortune, our Emei Sect has long since disregarded it…”

Zhang Wuji thought to himself, “This Abbess Miejue is truly something else. To eradicate the Demonic Sect, she is willing to sacrifice the lives of everyone in the Emei Sect. If that's the case, then she truly deserves the title of ‘Extinction.’”

Chapter 006 First Encounter with Zhou Zhiruo

Zhang Wuji wondered what deep-seated hatred Abbess Miejue had for the Demonic Sect that she was willing to sacrifice the lives of all the disciples of the Emei Sect to eliminate the Ming Cult.

At this moment, Abbess Miejue said again, "As the saying goes, 'A thousand coffins leaving the door signify a prosperous family.

The son lives, the father dies first; the grandson lives, the grandfather dies.' Who can escape death? As long as descendants are left, even if a thousand or a hundred die, the family can still prosper. The worst thing is if you all die, and this old nun lives alone." She paused, then continued, "Heh heh, but even so, it's not a pity. A hundred years ago, what Emei Sect was there? If everyone fought a fierce battle to the death, even if the Emei Sect was wiped out, what's the big deal?"

The disciples were all filled with fervor, drawing their weapons and shouting, "Disciples swear to fight to the death, never to be on the same side as demons and evil paths!"

Abbess Miejue smiled faintly and said, "Very good! Everyone, sit down!"

Zhang Wuji observed that although the Emei Sect members were mostly frail women, their heroic spirit and willingness to die for their cause were in no way inferior to that of men. He thought to himself that Emei's ranking among the six major sects was no accident, and it wasn't just about martial arts prowess. Their current state reminded him of Jing Ke's westward journey to the powerful Qin state, the poignant lines of "The wind howls, the Yi River is cold, the hero departs, never to return."

But they were all young and beautiful women; why should they sacrifice their lives for so-called justice or evil? Besides, the Ming Cult wasn't an evil cult at all! This Abbess Miejue was sometimes truly inflexible.

Abbess Miejue continued, “Since the Green-Winged Bat King can come, the White-Browed Demon King and the Golden-Haired Lion King can naturally come as well, and the Purple-Robed Dragon King, the Five Wanderers, and the Five Flag Bearers can certainly come as well. We originally planned to use the strength of the six sects to first take down Yang Xiao, the Left Guardian of Light, and then sweep away the remaining demons one by one. Who knew that Master Xianyu, the Divine Strategist of the Huashan Sect, would misjudge things this time? Heh heh, he was completely wrong.”

Jingxuan asked, “Then what kind of vicious demon is the Purple-Robed Dragon King?”

Abbess Miejue shook her head and said, “The Purple-Robed Dragon King has no notable evil deeds; I have only heard of him. I heard that he failed to become the leader of the sect, so he fled overseas and stopped associating with the Demonic Sect. It would be best if he could stay out of this.

The Demonic Sect’s Four Kings are Purple, White, Gold, and Green. This person is the head of the Four Kings, so it goes without saying that he is extremely difficult to fight. Besides Yang Xiao, there is another Guardian of Light in the Demonic Sect. According to the tradition of the Demonic Sect, the Guardians of Light are always one on the left and one on the right, and their status is above the Four Guardian Kings.” Yang Xiao is the Left Guardian of Light, but no one in the martial arts world knows the name of the Right Guardian of Light. Even the Shaolin Master Kongzhi and the Wudang Master Song Yuanqiao, both learned men, don't know. If we confront Yang Xiao head-on, fighting openly, the outcome depending on our martial arts skills, that's fine. But if the Right Guardian of Light were to launch a sneak attack, that would be the most worrisome thing.”

The disciples were terrified, involuntarily turning to look behind them, as if the Right Guardian of Light or the Purple-Robed Dragon King might suddenly appear and launch a sneak attack. The cold moonlight made everyone's faces pale.

Abbess Miejue coldly said, “Yang Xiao killed your Uncle Gu Hongzi and Ji Xiaofu, and Wei Yixiao killed Jingxu. The Emei Sect and the Demonic Sect are sworn enemies.” Since the founding patriarch Guo, the position of sect leader has traditionally been held by a woman. Not only are men not eligible, but even married women are not allowed to serve as sect leader. However, our sect is now facing a critical moment of survival, so how can we adhere to the old rules? In this battle, whoever makes a great contribution, regardless of whether they are a man or a woman, can inherit my mantle. The disciples

bowed their heads in silence, all feeling a sense of foreboding and sorrow as their master solemnly arranged her affairs and planned for the sect's successor, seemingly anticipating her demise.

Abbess Miejue let out a long, loud laugh, the sound carrying far across the desert.

Zhang Wuji had initially thought Abbess Miejue was rigid and inflexible, but faced with the suppression of the Ming Cult, she had actually changed ancestral rules and even allowed male disciples or married Emei sect lay disciples to become sect leaders—this was truly unbelievable.

It seemed Abbess Miejue was the kind of person who liked to do things her own way, with few rules or regulations, acting solely according to her own judgment.

Just then, a disciple reported, "Master, Junior Sister Zhou is back!"

"Oh, summon her to my tent!" Abbess Miejue said, turning and returning to her tent.

Zhang Wuji was overjoyed, "Junior Sister Zhou!? That must be Zhou Zhiruo!!" "I went through so much trouble to infiltrate the Emei Sect, wasn't it all just to see Zhou Zhiruo and rekindle our past romance?" "Still relying on your hands? How can that be satisfying? Upon hearing the news of Zhou Zhiruo's return, he immediately felt a surge of anxiety and nervousness!

This was the first time Zhang Wuji saw Zhou Zhiruo after returning to the world of Yitian. At this time, Zhou Zhiruo should be seventeen or eighteen years old. Zhang Wuji's eyes lit up. This Zhou Zhiruo was extremely delicate and elegant, graceful and charming. Her figure couldn't be described as devilish; her bones and flesh were perfectly proportioned, her posture elegant, like a precious flower, quiet yet alluring. She greeted everyone with a beautiful smile, her expressive eyes seeming to warmly greet everyone. Despite wearing... She wore the uniform of the Emei Sect, but her clothes were exceptionally exquisite, with every stitch clearly re-embroidered! Although her hair was styled in the standard Emei Sect hairstyle, it was still delicate and unique, with sideburns hanging down on either side, subtly concealing her temples, making her exceptionally charming and graceful. A vermilion beauty mark adorned the center of her forehead. Zhou Zhiruo was extremely polite to everyone, especially showing utmost respect to Abbess Miejue. It seemed there was a reason she was favored by Abbess Miejue; her rigid adherence to etiquette, while irritating to Zhang Wuji, was quite popular in this era, especially since her master was Abbess Miejue! Regardless, Zhang Wuji still considered her his top choice among his women. (Transmigrating back to the world of Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber) In this world, Zhou Zhiruo was an absolute must-see. Moreover, she was so alluring that Zhang Wuji's eyes lit up.

The reason Zhang Wuji's eyes gleamed was that Zhou Zhiruo wasn't the seductive beauty he had imagined; instead, she possessed a clear and bright spirit, a pure and elegant, noble and captivating aura. When Zhou Zhiruo noticed a man staring intently at her, her pretty face flushed, and she lowered her head, but showed no displeasure. A healthy, youthful fragrance wafted into his nostrils, and Zhang Wuji couldn't help but inhale deeply.

That fragrance was something Zhang Wuji would never forget! It was more beautiful than an orchid, more fragrant than a plum blossom… When Zhang Wuji smelled this fragrance, he felt… It was a kind of enjoyment; he closed his eyes, lost in his own fantasy world.

Abbess Miejue called Zhou Zhiruo into her tent, and no one knew their conversation. Because the Emei Sect had decided to set up camp here today, everyone was busy, and soon Zhang Wuji smelled the aroma of food.

However, all of this was irrelevant to him. Since Ding Minjun and Zhao Lingzhu were ordered to face the wall in meditation, Zhang Wuji had also been forced off the carriage and left in a corner, ignored by everyone. Although Zhang Wuji smelled the food, he could only smell and look; no one intended to bring him any food.

As it grew darker, Zhang Wuji initially thought everyone would give him food after they finished eating, but to his surprise, no one came even after everyone had eaten.

"Hey, do you think I'm dead?! I'm a person too! Are you trying to starve me to death, Emei Sect?!" Zhang Wuji didn't want to shout like this, feeling it was incredibly undignified, like begging. But the thought that such a prestigious sect as the Emei Sect behaved this way filled him with great resentment. Anyway, his injuries were fake; if they didn't give him food, he could find something to eat while they were asleep.

Despite Zhang Wuji's shouts, the Emei Sect members seemed deaf, completely ignoring him.

Enraged, Zhang Wuji shouted several more times. Eventually, he grew tired of it and stopped shouting, thinking, "

Just you wait, I'll make sure the Emei Sect suffers." Thinking this, instead of being angry, he felt a little smug, wondering if he could find one or two female disciples from the Emei Sect to play with that night. However, judging from Abbess Miejue's demeanor, she hadn't mastered the Qiankun technique... It's best not to provoke her before using the Great Shift technique. Abbess Miejue is far more powerful than Ouyang Zhen; if she really wanted to hunt him down, he probably wouldn't be as fast as Wei Yixiao. He had to be patient. Zhang Wuji weighed the consequences of having an affair with a female disciple of the Emei Sect, and his mind calmed down considerably. After all, his life was still very important. Moreover, his future was that of an emperor; how could he die so easily? Those who achieve great things are often very patient.

Zhang Wuji sat cross-legged on the ground, closed his eyes to meditate, and adjusted his internal energy. Just then, a fragrance, more exquisite than any orchid, more alluring than any plum blossom, wafted over…

Surprised, Zhang Wuji opened his eyes. The goddess-like Zhou Zhiruo was already in front of him, holding several slightly steamed buns and a pot of water.

"Don't call out. Without Master's permission, no one dares to act rashly." Zhou Zhiruo glanced at Zhang Wuji as she handed him the buns before turning her head away.

Zhang Wuji felt a surge of excitement and could no longer contain himself. Remembering the words he had spoken to Zhou Zhiruo eight hundred years ago when they met again, he immediately whispered, "I will never forget your kindness in feeding me on the boat on the Han River."

Sure enough, Zhou Zhiruo trembled and turned to look at him. She stared for a while, then suddenly exclaimed, "Ah!" Her face lit up with surprise and joy. "You...you..."

Zhang Wuji knew she recognized him and slowly nodded.

Zhou Zhiruo asked softly, "Is the cold poison in your body healed?" Her voice was barely audible.

Zhang Wuji whispered, "It's healed."

"That's good. You...take good care of yourself and recover well. Don't shout unless necessary, remember!" Zhou Zhiruo blushed, as if afraid of being discovered, and hurriedly walked away.

Zhang Wuji was left with endless sighs. This woman was truly a rare gem!

Chapter 007: Abbess Miejue. Despite

the cold night, Zhang Wuji sat alone in the snow, but a fire nearby kept him warm. Even without a tent, the cold wasn't too bad; in fact, even without the fire, his Nine Yang Divine Skill's internal energy wouldn't have been a problem.

Moreover, Zhou Zhiruo's lovingly given him a steamed bun made him feel incredibly warm and content.

Early the next morning, the Emei Sect disciples all set off westward. Along the way, Zhang Wuji sat in a sled, pulled behind by a carriage. Because the roads were covered in ice and snow, the journey wasn't too bumpy, though the cold wind made his skin dry and a little uncomfortable. Fortunately, the weather was clear, and at midday the sun was blazing! Even in the dead of winter, it felt hot.

Along the way, they encountered many battles between members of the righteous sects and the Ming Cult, so everyone knew they were close to Bright Peak. Although they were only a few hundred miles away, the Ming Cult disciples' harassment and resistance were incredibly strong.

First, he encountered Yin Liting of the Wudang Sect, the fiancé of Ji Xiaofu, who was later "snatched away" by Yang Xiao. According to the original historical timeline, he was supposed to marry Yang Buhui later, something that absolutely couldn't happen. Therefore, when Zhang Wuji first met Yin Liting, he gave this so-called "Sixth Uncle Yin" a second look. He was handsome, but looked rather old, clearly not his age. He was in his early forties but looked like he was in his fifties, though his martial arts skills were quite good! Not long after meeting Yin Liting, he encountered Song Qingshu. Seeing this scoundrel, Zhang Wuji was furious. After all, Song Qingshu was his number one rival in love!

Song Qingshu was indeed handsome, no wonder he was so popular. Zhang Wuji objectively thought that Song Qingshu was more handsome than any of the actors who portrayed him in TV dramas. In 21st-century terms, he was incredibly handsome! Even his every move was captivating! (For details of the above plot, please refer to Jin Yong's *The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber*, which will not be repeated here.)

Zhou Zhiruo was amazed by Song Qingshu. She remembered when Song Qingshu casually called out the names of disciples even she might not recognize. She was stunned for a moment, then stared at him and asked, "How do you know all the names of so many disciples of my Emei Sect?"

Song Qingshu replied, "My Uncles Jingxuan and Jingxu introduced me to them just now."

Even Abbess Miejue had to look at him with newfound respect, saying, "Wow, you have a remarkable memory! Where in my Emei Sect do we find such talent?"

Zhang Wuji felt a certain respect for Song Qingshu, thinking that if he were born in the 21st century, he would be a typical rich and handsome second-generation rich kid, and a very promising one at that. His father was the future leader of Wudang, and his ancestor was Zhang Sanfeng, who had already been bestowed the title of "True Man"! Given Song Qingshu's own abilities, how could he not be considered an outstanding individual, a paragon of virtue? His loss to Zhang Wuji can only be attributed to two factors: first, his lack of righteousness, and second, his lack of Zhang Wuji's good fortune. However, it must be said that good fortune and good character are closely intertwined. Without cultivating a kind heart and good character, expecting good fortune is unrealistic, unless you are a transmigrator with complete knowledge of this world. Even then, you still need good fortune.

You can't say that Song Qingshu was unlearned or lazy. For example, on the night he met Abbess Miejue, he personally sought her guidance, wanting to become her disciple and learn some Emei sword techniques. Keep in mind that for a future leader of the Wudang Sect to seek instruction from another sect is already a sign of great humility. Song Qingshu actually did this, and although Abbess Miejue didn't agree, she still looked at him with new respect!

On the third day, as the main force of the Emei Sect and the small detachment of the Wudang Sect continued their journey, Zhang Wuji's long-awaited opportunity to perform finally arrived. Zhang Wuji felt like he was playing a live-action video game, needing to plan every step, recall the plot, and make his choices at the right time and place to trigger the next storyline.

Along the way, Zhang Wuji felt a sense of warmth, as Zhou Zhiruo personally delivered his meals. She didn't speak much, as her fellow disciples were also present, so Zhou Zhiruo remained mostly silent. Zhang Wuji couldn't think of anything better to say to her; after all, food is eaten one bite at a time, and beauty takes time to appreciate.

The Emei Sect's main force marched rapidly and was now likely approaching Bright Peak. The encirclement forces from various sects were gradually converging to besiege Bright Peak. Along the way, they encountered the Kunlun, Huashan, and Kongtong sects, adding to the Emei and Wudang sects. The five major sects now joined forces to attack the Ming Cult's Sharp Gold Banner. Of the five sects, only two from Wudang were present; the other four had sent their elite troops. With the Sharp Gold Banner's leader dead, the group was leaderless and naturally no match for the Ming Cult. However, the members of the banner were all loyal and fearless, determined to follow Zhuang Zheng in martyrdom.

During the inhumane massacre, Yin Liting of the Wudang Sect was the first to feel unbearable pain, and also felt that the victory was unfair. He shouted, "Listen, you demonic cultists: you only have death ahead of you! Quickly throw down your weapons and surrender,

or you will be spared!" The flag bearer laughed and said, "You underestimate the Ming Cult. Brother Zhuang is already dead, why would we want to live again?"

Yin Liting shouted, "Friends from the Kunlun, Emei, Huashan, and Kongtong sects, everyone step back ten steps and let these demons surrender." Everyone retreated.

However, Abbess Miejue hated the demonic cult to the extreme and went on a rampage, wielding her sword alone. Wherever the Heaven-Reliant Sword went, swords broke, blades snapped, limbs were severed, and heads flew off. Seeing that their master did not retreat, the Emei disciples who had already retreated rushed forward to fight again, turning the situation into a one-sided battle between the Emei Sect and the Sharp Gold Flag.

The Ming Cult's elite Golden Banner still had over sixty members, including more than twenty skilled martial artists. Led by Vice-Commander Wu Jingcao, they fought against the thirty-odd members of the Emei Sect. Two against one, they should have easily gained the upper hand. However, Abbess Miejue's Heaven-Slaying Sword was simply too sharp, and her swordplay was extremely fierce. Her swordsmanship was unstoppable, and in an instant, seven or eight more people fell to her blade.

At this moment, the rising sun cast its hazy light upon Abbess Miejue's tall figure, creating a long shadow that, while imposing, carried a touch of desolation and terror. In truth, she intended to dampen the Ming Cult's spirit, and thus shouted sternly, "Listen up, members of the Ming Cult: Anyone who wants to live, just beg for mercy, and we'll let you go!"

After a long pause, only the sounds of "heh heh," "ha ha ha," and "heh heh" could be heard incessantly; the Ming Cult members laughed loudly.

Abbess Miejue roared, "What's so funny?"

Wu Jingcao, the deputy commander of the Ruijin Banner, shouted, "We swear to live and die with Brother Zhuang! Kill us quickly!"

Abbess Miejue snorted and said, "Fine. Playing the hero now! You want a quick death? Not so easy." With a slight tremor of her longsword, she severed his right arm.

Wu Jingcao laughed heartily, his expression calm, and said, "The Ming Cult acts on behalf of Heaven, saving the world and its people, unwavering in life and death. You old nun, don't even dream of us surrendering." Abbess Miejue

grew even angrier, and with three swift strokes, she severed the arms of three more members, asking the fifth, "Will you beg for mercy?"

The man cursed, "Bullshit, you old nun!"

Jingxuan flashed forward, wielding her sword and severing the man's right arm, shouting, "Let your disciple slay these demons!"

She questioned several more people, but none of the Ming Cult members yielded. Jingxuan's hands were trembling from killing, and she turned back, saying, "Master, these demons are so unruly..." implying she was pleading with her master.

Abbess Miejue ignored her completely, saying, "Sever everyone's right arm first. If they remain stubborn, then sever their left arm."

Helpless, Jingxuan severed the arms of several more.

Zhang Wuji didn't know when he should have come out, but seeing this bloody scene, he could no longer bear it. The other four major sects were all men, while the Emei Sect was all women, yet the most ferocious and inhumane sect was the Emei Sect. This was truly strange; did Abbess Miejue hate the Ming Cult so much?!

Zhang Wuji leaped from the sled, blocking Jingxuan's path, and shouted, "Stop!"

Jingxuan was startled and took a step back. Zhang Wuji shouted, "How can you be so cruel and vicious? Do you still consider yourselves righteous sects? What you are doing is no different from those of evil and crooked people. Even ants try to survive, but these are living, breathing human beings. How dare you slaughter them like this?!"

The disciples of the five major sects and the Ming Cult were all taken aback when they suddenly saw a ragged young man step forward. But when they heard his two questions to Jingxuan, which were righteous and stern, even the renowned masters of the famous sects were intimidated by his imposing presence.

Jingxuan laughed loudly and said, "Evil and heretical sects should be punished by everyone. What's so cruel about that?"

Zhang Wuji said, "What are evil and heretical sects? What are righteous sects? Do you dare say that righteous sects have no bad people? Can't the demonic sects you speak of have good people? I see these people who value righteousness above all else, and are willing to die for their cause. They are truly heroes. How can you call them evil and heretical? When have you ever seen them slaughter innocent people? When have they ever killed your relatives and friends from righteous sects?"

Jingxuan said, "Are the members of their demonic sects ..." "Isn't that evil spirit? That Green-Winged Bat King

killed people by sucking their blood, killing my junior sister and junior brother. If that's not evil, what is?" Zhang Wuji said, "That Green-Winged Bat King only killed two people, while you have killed ten times more. He killed with his teeth, and your master killed with the Heaven-Reliant Sword

. In ordinary killing, what is the difference between good and evil? Besides, how can you implicate these innocent people in the people Wei Yixiao killed?" Jingxuan was furious and shouted, "You brat, how dare you compare my master to evil spirits?" He struck out with a palm towards Zhang Wuji's face, but Zhang Wuji quickly dodged. Jingxuan was the eldest disciple of the Emei Sect, and his martial arts had already been passed down to him. This palm strike to his face was a feint. As soon as Zhang Wuji dodged, he immediately kicked out with his left leg, striking Jingxuan in the chest.

With two loud bangs and cracks, Jingxuan's left leg was broken, and his body flew backward, landing several feet away. It turned out that Zhang Wuji had been struck in the chest by an enemy's attack, and his Nine Yang Divine Skill naturally activated its resistance. While his own technique was far inferior to Jingxuan's, the power of the Nine Yang Divine Skill was immense; the stronger the enemy's attack, the heavier the counterattack. Jingxuan's kick felt like a blow to his own body. Fortunately, Jingxuan hadn't intended to kill him; she had only used half her strength, thus avoiding serious internal injuries.

Zhang Wuji hadn't expected the Nine Yang Divine Skill to be so powerful. Seeing the beautiful Jingxuan fly away, he felt uneasy. In his mind, he intended to take all the beauties of the Emei Sect as his own, and it wouldn't be gentlemanly to give his future wife such a show of force. So he apologetically said, "I'm so sorry! I... I didn't mean to!" and went to help the Emei Sect's senior sister, Jingxuan, up.

Jingxuan angrily shouted, "Get out of my way! Get out of my way!"

"Okay... I'll go, I'll go!" Seeing Jingxuan's anger, Zhang Wuji obediently left! He really did seem a bit henpecked! However, Zhang Wuji's thoughts were already on Jingxuan. He was wondering if he should take the three blows from Abbess Miejue!

At this moment, two female disciples from the Emei Sect rushed over to help their senior sister up.

Most of the people from the other four major sects recognized Jingxuan, knowing she was one of Abbess Miejue's top fighters. How could she be so weak, thrown several feet away by this ragged youth in a single move? If it were just an empty reputation, that wouldn't be the case. Everyone had witnessed her fierce swordsmanship when she fought the Sharp Golden Banner. Could it be that one cannot judge a book by its cover, and this ragged youth actually possessed unparalleled martial arts skills?

Abbess Miejue was secretly astonished: "What path does this young man take? He's been in my Emei Sect for so many days, yet I haven't paid him any attention. It turns out he's a truly remarkable person, hiding his true abilities. Even if I were to force Jingxuan to reveal himself like this, I wouldn't be able to. In this world, I'm afraid only the old Taoist Zhang Sanfeng, with his centuries of cultivation, possesses such skill."

Although Abbess Miejue dared not underestimate Zhang Wuji, she felt no fear whatsoever, scrutinizing him from head to toe.

At this moment, Zhang Wuji was busy stopping the bleeding and bandaging the wounds of the Ruijin Banner members. His technique was extremely skillful; he pressed several acupoints on each person, and the bleeding from their severed arms immediately decreased significantly. Among the onlookers were many skilled healers and acupoint users, but his technique made everyone feel inferior. As for the extraordinary acupoints he pressed, they were unknown to most. Wu Jingcao, the flag bearer, said, "Thank you for your righteousness, young hero. May I ask your name?"

Zhang Wuji replied, "My surname is Zeng, and my given name is Aniu.

" Abbess Miejue coldly said, "Turn around, you good boy, take three of my sword strikes."

Zhang Wuji said, "Excuse me, please wait a moment, Abbess. Saving people is the priority."

"Boy, are you mocking this abbess?" Abbess Miejue said sternly.

Zhang Wuji finished bandaging the wound of the last man with a severed arm, then turned around, clasped his hands, and said, "Master, I am no match for you, and I have no desire to fight you. I only hope that you two will cease fighting and resolve your past grudges."

Abbess Miejue said, "Haha, you think you can make us stop fighting just because you say so? Are you the supreme master of the martial arts world?"

Zhang Wuji thought to himself, "How do you know I won't become the supreme master?" He immediately said, "What if I become the supreme master?"

Abbess Miejue said, "Even if he has the Dragon-Slaying Saber, he'll have to contend with my Heaven-Reliant Sword first. Only when he truly becomes the supreme master can he issue orders."

The Emei disciples laughed when they heard their master mocking Zhang Wuji.

For Zhang Wuji, given his age and status, to utter words like "cease fighting" was extremely unbecoming. Hearing their ridicule, he thought to himself, "These so-called righteous sects are all looking down on people!" "Looks like they're really no good, far inferior to the Ming Cult disciples. These self-righteous sects consider themselves superior, but they're just moral guardians!" Zhang Wuji couldn't help but say, "Even if I'm not the supreme martial artist now, everyone has parents, wives, and children. If you kill them, their children will be left destitute and abused. You're a nun, so which deity or Buddha allowed you to commit such a massacre?! And you, Abbess, are such a beautiful woman. When you don't kill, you're actually... you're as beautiful and compassionate as Guanyin Bodhisattva!"

Abbess Miejue's stunning face turned pale, and the onlookers were embarrassed by Zhang Wuji's words. They didn't even know how to respond. Abbess Miejue was particularly moved by Zhang Wuji's last phrase, "as beautiful as Guanyin Bodhisattva."

For so many years, Abbess Miejue hadn't been moved. You can tell how cold-hearted someone is just by being called "Extinction." In fact, her indifference and ruthlessness are partly due to her personality and partly due to the influence of the people around her.

To put it simply, Zhang Wuji's words were somewhat sarcastic. If it were anyone else, they wouldn't dare say it, let alone even think about it! If Abbess Miejue knew, they'd be beheaded! But Zhang Wuji, fearless and audacious, actually said it! In truth, women all like praise, even the most ruthless and heartless woman is no exception. Abbess Miejue's aloof, cold, and ruthless personality and style, cultivated over many years, doesn't mean she doesn't appreciate beauty? Doesn't mean she doesn't like praise? The key is that Zhang Wuji's praise was inappropriate, directly comparing her to Guanyin Bodhisattva. That's quite something. You can't call it sarcasm, because deities are not to be profaned; you can't call it praise, but Zhang Wuji used "great beauty" before Guanyin Bodhisattva—daring to call Abbess Miejue a great beauty to her face?

Before, Abbess Miejue would have already considered him a lecherous scoundrel and beheaded him a hundred times over!

But Zhang Wuji? Upon hearing these words, Abbess Miejue's heart felt as if a thousand-year-old ice had been torn open...

Chapter 008 Who is True Love?

Hearing Zhang Wuji's words, Abbess Miejue's worldly heart only trembled slightly; her expression remained icy as she said, "Good lad, do I need you to lecture me? You're arrogant about your profound inner strength, boasting here. Fine, if you can withstand three of my palm strikes, I'll let these people go."

Zhang Wuji feigned humility, saying, "I can't even dodge one palm strike from your disciple, let alone you, Abbess?" "Today, I, Zeng Aniu, am going all out, just begging for your mercy!"

Wu Jingcao shouted. "Master Zeng, you don't need to take these three blows from Abbess Miejue! We'd rather all die at the hands of this old nun! You should leave! We've already remembered your great kindness; there's no need to pay for it with our lives."

Abbess Miejue glanced at Zhang Wuji and asked, "Who is your master?"

Zhang Wuji replied, "I have no master."

Abbess Miejue snorted, "Then take this!" She stretched out her right hand and casually struck out.

In this situation, Zhang Wuji had no choice but to take it. He dared not be careless and pushed with both palms to meet her blow simultaneously. Unexpectedly, Abbess Miejue's palm suddenly lowered, like an incredibly slippery and swift little fish, passing under his palms and striking his chest with a splash.

Startled, Zhang Wuji instinctively activated his Nine Yang Divine Skill to protect himself, blocking the incoming palm strike. Just as the two immense internal energies were about to collide, Abbess Miejue's palm strike vanished without a trace.

Zhang Wuji froze, and when he looked up at her, he felt as if he had been struck in the chest by an iron hammer. He lost his footing, tumbling backward twice, spitting out a mouthful of blood, and collapsed to the ground like a lump of mud. Abbess Miejue

's palm strike, so unpredictable and elusive, diverting the enemy's internal energy before unleashing its own, was truly a masterful display of internal martial arts. Those in the crowd with profound martial arts skills recognized the wonder of this palm strike and couldn't help but cheer.

Zhang Wuji felt his chest churning with hot blood, shook his hand, and said, "I won't die." He slowly got up. The Abbess Miejue said to her three disciples, "Cut off the right arms of all those demons." The three female disciples replied, "Yes!" and drew their swords to approach the group of people with the Sharp Gold Banner.

Zhang Wuji hurriedly said, "You...you said that if I could withstand three of your blows, you would let them go. I...I took one blow from you, and...two more."

The Abbess Miejue struck him once, and had already tested his internal strength, finding it to be upright and profound, definitely not of the demonic path, and even quite similar to her own. She also saw that although he protected the members of the Demonic Sect, he was not actually a member of the Demonic Sect. She said, "Young man, don't meddle in other people's business. The distinction between good and evil should be clear. Just now, I only used three-tenths of my strength in that blow." "Do you know?"

Zhang Wuji knew that as the leader of a sect, she wouldn't lie. If she said she would only use three-tenths of her strength, then she really meant it. But no matter how difficult the remaining two blows were, he couldn't risk his life and watch the Ruijin Banner men be slaughtered by her. So he said, "I overestimated myself and will take... take two more blows from you, Master."

Wu Jingcao cried out, "Master Zeng, we are deeply grateful for your virtue! You are a hero, and everyone admires you. You must not take the remaining two blows."

"Master, your Master Zeng is a man of loyalty and righteousness. He is not a disciple of the Demonic Sect..." At this moment, Zhao Lingzhu became anxious and hurriedly tried to persuade her master.

"What do you mean? Are you trying to say that I am not humane?" Abbess Miejue said coldly with a stern face.

Zhao Lingzhu, scolded and no longer daring to step forward, anxiously said to Zhang Wuji, "Young Master Zeng, don't continue! You'll die if you keep going!"

"You're meddling in Master's affairs? Get out of the way!" Seeing Zhao Lingzhu in the way, Abbess Miejue swept her sleeve with her left hand, lifting her up and throwing her backward.

Zhou Zhiruo rushed forward to catch her and gently placed her on the ground. "Senior Sister, you...you be careful,"

Zhao Lingzhu said urgently. "Junior Sister Zhou, quickly persuade Young Master Zeng not to take those two more blows. He'll listen to you."

Zhou Zhiruo asked in surprise, "How could he listen to me?"

Zhao Lingzhu said, "He likes you very much. Don't you know? I saw it that day."

Zhou Zhiruo blushed and spat, "How could that be?"

At this moment, Abbess Miejue said loudly, "Since you insist on playing the hero, you're courting death. Don't blame me." With a swift movement of her right hand, she struck Zhang Wuji's chest.

This time, Zhang Wuji dared not raise his hand to block. He turned to the side, intending to avoid her palm strike. Abbess Miejue's right arm twisted sharply at an impossible angle, her palm striking him squarely in the back with a resounding thud. His body flew through the air like a bundle of straw, crashing heavily to the ground, lying motionless on the sand, seemingly dead. Abbess Miejue's move was incredibly skillful; normally, the onlookers would have cheered, but everyone secretly admired Zhang Wuji's chivalrous heart. Seeing his tragic end, they could only gasp and sigh, no one applauding.

Zhao Lingzhu said, "Junior Sister Zhou, please, go and see how badly he's injured."

Zhou Zhiruo's heart pounded. Hearing Zhao Lingzhu's earnest plea, she wanted to go and check, but under the watchful eyes of everyone, how could she, a young girl of eighteen or nineteen, dare to examine the injuries of a young man? Moreover, the person who injured him was none other than his own master. Going forward, though not an open rebellion against the sect, would still be a great disrespect to his master.

Therefore, he took a step, then withdrew. Ding Minjun, standing nearby, was even more anxious, but thinking of her future, she dared not take another step. Although she had grown somewhat fond of Zhang Wuji, she was even more wary of her master, Abbess Miejue.

By this time, it was broad daylight, the sun shining brightly. After a moment, Zhang Wuji's back twitched, and he struggled to sit up slowly. But his elbows, supporting him about a foot high, suddenly gave way, and he coughed up a mouthful of blood, falling back down. He was dazed, wishing only to lie motionless, but he still remembered that he hadn't received a single blow and couldn't save the lives of the Ruijin Banner members.

Zhang Wuji took a deep breath and finally forced himself to sit up. His body trembled, as if he could fall again at any moment. Everyone held their breath, watching intently. Although there were hundreds of people around, it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

In that instant of utter silence, Zhang Wuji suddenly remembered a few lines from the Nine Yang Manual: "Let him be strong, a gentle breeze caresses the mountain ridge. Let him be fierce, the bright moon shines on the great river." While reciting these lines in the verdant valley, he had never understood their meaning. Now, it suddenly dawned on him that with Abbess Miejue's strength and ruthlessness, he was no match for her. According to the essence of the Nine Yang Manual, no matter how strong or fierce the enemy, he could treat them like a gentle breeze caressing the mountain or the bright moon reflecting on the river—they could harm him, but not in the slightest. But how could he avoid harm? The manual continued, "Let him be fierce, let him be fierce, I have enough true qi." Thinking of this, he suddenly understood. He sat cross-legged and regulated his breathing according to the method shown in the manual. He felt a warm, vibrant sensation in his dantian, true qi flowing, instantly spreading throughout his limbs and bones. Only then did the great power of the Nine Yang Divine Skill manifest. Although his external injuries were severe and he vomited blood, his internal strength and true energy were not diminished in the slightest.

Seeing him circulating his energy to heal his injuries, Abbess Miejue was secretly astonished; this young man truly possessed extraordinary abilities. Her first strike against Zhang Wuji was a move from the "Snowflake Piercing Cloud Palm," and her second was even more powerful, the third move of the "Nine Intercepting Hand Techniques"—the essence of the Emei Sect's palm techniques. She had only used three-tenths of her strength in the first strike, but increased it to seventy percent in the second, intending that even if she couldn't kill him instantly, she would at least break his bones and render him paralyzed, unable to move. To her surprise, he lay prone for a while before sitting up, completely unexpected. According to the conventions of martial arts competitions, Abbess Miejue wouldn't normally need to wait for him to heal, but respecting her status, she wouldn't take advantage of a junior's weakened state at this time.

At this moment, Ding Minjun shouted loudly, "Hey, Zeng, you look like you're about to die too. Get lost! You still want to take my master's third strike? You're asking for it! What are you now? Recovering from your injuries? Are we supposed to wait for you here forever? Get out of here..."

Ding Minjun's words were actually meant to make Zhang Wuji back down and not fight any longer, lest he lose his life. However, to those outside, her words sounded cold and even mocking.

Zhou Zhiruo said softly, "Senior Sister, let him rest a little longer. It won't hurt."

Ding Minjun immediately became furious. She already disliked Zhou Zhiruo. Before Zhou Zhiruo appeared, she was firmly in the position of Senior Sister of the Emei Sect, and the future sect leader was a possibility. Since Zhou Zhiruo appeared, she had fallen out of favor, and now Zhou Zhiruo was even competing with her for a man. She had also seen Zhang Wuji's affectionate gaze towards Zhou Zhiruo, and the thought of this made her even angrier. She said, "You...you're also protecting outsiders, is it because you've taken a liking to this young man..." She originally wanted to say, "You've taken a liking to this handsome young man." But she immediately remembered that many famous figures from various sects were present, and such vulgar language could not be uttered. Therefore, she stopped before she could finish her sentence. But how could others not understand her implication? Although the second half of her sentence was left unfinished, it was no different from saying it aloud.

Zhou Zhiruo was both ashamed and anxious, her face turning pale with anger, but she didn't argue. She simply said, "I'm only concerned about the reputation of our sect and my master, hoping to avoid any gossip."

Ding Minjun asked in surprise, "What gossip?"

Zhou Zhiruo replied, "Our sect's martial arts are renowned throughout the world, and my master is one of the most outstanding senior masters of our time. He certainly wouldn't stoop to the level of such a young upstart. I only disciplined him because he was so bold and arrogant. Did I really intend to kill him? Our sect's reputation for chivalry has endured for centuries, and my master is benevolent and kind—who doesn't admire him?

How can this young man's flickering light compare to the sun and moon? Even if he trained for another hundred years, he still wouldn't be a match for our master. What's

a little more recuperation?" Everyone secretly nodded in agreement with her words. Abbess Miejue was even more pleased, feeling that her young disciple was sensible and had brought honor to her sect in front of the masters of various sects.

However, comparing their words, Ding Minjun actually wanted Zhang Wuji to back down and save his life. Zhou Zhiruo, on the other hand, wanted Zhang Wuji to rest before continuing the fight. While Zhou Zhiruo's words sounded nice, they were actually more malicious. Consider this: if Zhang Wuji could withstand three moves from Abbess Miejue and still stand, wouldn't her earlier boasting about the Emei Sect's unparalleled martial arts and Abbess Miejue's superior skill only highlight Zhang Wuji's greatness and extraordinary abilities? Wouldn't Zhou Zhiruo's words then become the greatest harm to the Emei Sect? From another perspective, having so highly praised Abbess Miejue, she certainly wouldn't want to lose face, so Abbess Miejue would definitely not hold back with the third strike. If Abbess Miejue were to truly defeat Zhang Wuji, or even cripple or kill him, wouldn't Zhou Zhiruo's words become the knife that kills him?

Zhang Wuji didn't know if Zhou Zhiruo had considered the consequences of her words; if they were unintentional, they could be understood.

If Zhou Zhiruo knowingly spoke out despite knowing the consequences, then her intentions could only be described as malicious, even wicked.

Zhang Wuji overheard Ding Minjun and Zhou Zhiruo's words. He chuckled inwardly. If it were the Zhang Wuji of eight hundred years ago, he would have thought Ding Minjun was mean-spirited and heartless, and that Zhou Zhiruo was desperately protecting him. But how could he, Zhang Wuji, be that foolish and stupid Zhang Wuji of eight hundred years ago?

At this moment, Zhang Wuji's internal energy circulated more freely, and he instantly became refreshed, standing... He stood up and said, "Master, I'll risk my life to keep you company and take another blow from you."

Seeing that he had become so energetic simply by sitting cross-legged, Master Miejue thought to herself, "This boy's internal strength is so profound, truly strange." She said, "Go ahead and attack me. Who told you not to fight back?" Zhang Wuji said, "My meager skills are so crude, I can't even touch the hem of your clothes, Master. What's the point of fighting back?"

Master Miejue said, "Since you know your place, then you should leave now. A young man with such..." "Spirit is indeed rare. Abbess Miejue is known for her ruthless methods, but I'll make an exception for you today."

Zhang Wuji bowed and said, "Thank you, Senior. Have you spared these brothers from the Sharp Gold Banner as well?"

Abbess Miejue's long eyebrows drooped, and she sneered, "What is my Dharma name?"

Zhang Wuji replied, "Your esteemed name is 'Extinction' above and 'Absolute' below."

Abbess Miejue said, "It's good that you know. Demons and evil people, I will exterminate them without mercy. Are the words 'Extinction' just for show?"

Zhang Wuji said, "In that case, please unleash your third strike, Senior."

Abbess Miejue glanced at him sideways. She had never seen such a tenacious young man in her life. She was usually cold-hearted, but suddenly felt a surge of admiration for his talent. She thought, "With my third strike, he will surely die. This person is not of the demonic kind after all; it's a pity he's dying so young!" After a moment's hesitation, her mind made up. Her third palm strike would target the vital point in his dantian, using her inner strength to shake it, causing him to immediately faint and hold his breath. She would then revive him after eliminating all the demons of the Demonic Sect's Sharp Golden Banner.

With a flick of her left sleeve, just as her third palm strike was about to land, a voice cried out, "Abbess Miejue, spare his life!" The sound of those eight words

pierced everyone's ears like needles, making everyone feel extremely uncomfortable.

From the northwest corner, a man in white robes, fanning himself with a folding fan, walked through the crowd, his steps barely touching the sand, as if floating on water. Embroidered on the left lapel of his white robe was a small black eagle with outstretched wings. Everyone immediately recognized him as a master of the Heavenly Eagle Sect. It turned out that the robes of the Heavenly Eagle Sect members were the same as those of the Ming Cult—white robes—but while the Ming Cult robes were embroidered with a red flame, the Heavenly Eagle Sect robes were embroidered with a black eagle.

The man walked to within three zhang of Abbess Miejue, cupped his hands, and smiled, saying, "Abbess, please. How about I take the lead for the third strike?"

Abbess Miejue asked, "Who are you?"

The man replied, "My surname is Yin, and my given name is Yewang." The moment the name "

Yin Yewang" was uttered, the onlookers immediately erupted in commotion. Yin Yewang's reputation had been truly renowned in the martial arts world for the past twenty years. Many in the martial arts community said his skill was almost on par with his father, the White-browed Eagle King Yin Tianzheng. He was the head of the Tianwei Hall of the Heavenly Eagle Sect, second only to the sect leader in power.

Abbess Miejue, seeing that this man was only in his forties, but whose eyes shone like cold lightning, radiating a sharp light and exuding an intimidating aura, could not underestimate him. Moreover, she had heard of his reputation before. She coldly asked, "Who is this boy to you, that you should take this blow for me?"

Yin Yewang laughed and said, "I don't know him at all. I just saw that he's young but has a strong backbone, unlike those hypocritical, fame-seeking scoundrels in the martial arts world. I was delighted and wanted to test your skills, Abbess." The last sentence was quite impolite, seemingly showing no regard for Abbess Miejue.

Abbess Miejue, however, remained unperturbed, saying to Zhang Wuji, "Boy, if you want to live a few more years, leave now; it's not too late."

Zhang Wuji replied, "This junior dares not be greedy for life and forget righteousness."

Abbess Miejue nodded, then said to Yin Yewang, "This boy still owes me a slap. Let's settle our scores one by one; I won't disappoint you in the future."

Yin Yewang chuckled and said, "Abbess Miejue, if you have the guts, kill this boy. If he doesn't survive, I'll make sure you all die without a burial place." With that, he immediately leaped away, passing through the crowd, and shouted, "Show yourselves!"

Suddenly, countless heads surged from the sand, each holding a shield and a powerful bow, volleys of arrows aimed at the crowd. It turned out that the members of the Heavenly Eagle Sect had dug a tunnel in the sand, completely surrounding them.

Everyone was focused on Abbess Miejue and Zhang Wuji exchanging blows, not a moment's distraction. Even the more knowledgeable individuals like Song Qingshu were only wary of a sudden attack from the Heavenly Eagle Sect members; they never expected them to take advantage of the soft sand to dig a tunnel, unexpectedly gaining control of the surrounding terrain. This caused everyone's faces to change color. The arrowheads glowed a dark blue in the sunlight, clearly poisoned. With just one order from Yin Yewang, everyone except the most skilled members of the various sects would likely be in grave danger. Among the five local sects, Abbess Miejue was the most senior in terms of experience and age, and everyone looked to her for her command.

Abbess Miejue was known for her stubbornness. Despite the dire situation, she remained unmoved, saying to Zhang Wuji, "Boy, you can only blame your bad luck." Suddenly, a series of cracking sounds emanated from her bones, like popping beans, before the sound had even faded, her right palm struck towards Zhang Wuji's chest. This palm strike was a unique technique of the Emei sect, called "Buddha's Light Illuminates All." Any palm or sword technique is always a continuous sequence, sometimes hundreds of moves, sometimes at least three to five. But regardless of whether it's three or five moves, each move contains variations, making one move equivalent to several or even more than ten moves.

However, this "Buddha's Light Illuminates All" palm technique consists of only one move, and this move has no variations. Whether striking the enemy's chest, back, shoulder, or face, the move is unchanging and unchanging. Its power lies entirely in its foundation in the Emei Sect's Nine Yang Skill. Once the palm strikes, the enemy has no way to block or dodge. In the current Emei Sect, apart from Abbess Miejue, no one else can use it. She originally only intended to strike Zhang Wuji's dantian to knock him unconscious, but after Yin Yewang's intimidation, showing mercy would not be leniency but cowardice, a surrender to the enemy. Therefore, this move was executed with full force, leaving no room for error. Seeing her

palm strike, Zhang Wuji felt his bones cracking, knowing this palm strike was no ordinary matter. His life or death depended on this moment; how could he dare to be even slightly negligent? In that instant, he only remembered the two lines of scripture, "He is ruthless, he is evil, I only have one breath of true energy," and didn't think about how to defend himself, but gathered his true energy in his chest and abdomen.

Suddenly, a loud bang was heard, and Abbess Miejue had struck him in the chest.

The onlookers exclaimed in unison, thinking that Zhang Wuji's bones must have been shattered, and that he might even have been cut in two by this overwhelming blow. But to everyone's surprise, Zhang Wuji was standing perfectly fine, while Abbess Miejue's face was ashen, and her hand trembled slightly.

It turned out that Abbess Miejue's move, "Buddha's Light Shines Everywhere," was based on the Emei Nine Yang Skill, and Zhang Wuji happened to be practicing the Nine Yang Divine Skill. The Emei Nine Yang Skill was formed by Guo Xiang after hearing Jueyuan recite the Nine Yang Manual and remembering some fragments, and its power was incomparable to the original Nine Yang Divine Skill. However, while the two internal martial arts differed in power, their essence was the same. When the Emei Nine Yang Skill encountered the Nine Yang Divine Skill, it was like a river flowing into the sea, or water and milk merging together, instantly vanishing without a trace. The first palm strike from Abbess Miejue was the "Snowflake Piercing Cloud Palm," and the second was the "Nine Intercepting Hands," neither of which belonged to the Nine Yang Divine Skill.

Therefore, even though they struck Zhang Wuji, they still managed to injure him and cause him to vomit blood. At the time, no one could understand the reason behind this. Zhang Wuji was completely unaware, and although Abbess Miejue was knowledgeable, she only thought that this boy's internal strength was profound and that she could not harm him. Therefore, among the hundreds of people inside and outside the circle, except for Abbess Miejue herself, everyone thought that she had shown mercy. Some thought she cherished Zhang Wuji's integrity, some thought she was considering the overall situation and did not want the five sects to suffer heavy casualties under the poisoned arrows of the Eagle Sect, and some even thought she was cowardly and afraid, succumbing to the intimidation of Yin Yewang.

Zhang Wuji bowed deeply and said, "Thank you for your mercy, Senior."

Abbess Miejue snorted, deeply embarrassed. If she were to strike again, she had clearly stated she would only strike him three times; if she gave up now, it would be an

utter disgrace, a sign of submission to the Eagle Sect. In that brief moment of hesitation, Yin Yewang laughed loudly, saying, "A wise man submits to circumstances; Abbess Miejue truly deserves to be called a master of our time." He commanded, "Withdraw the arrows!" The sect members suddenly tumbled and rolled away, a row of shields, a row of arrows, arranged in perfect order. It seemed Yin Yewang was using military tactics to command his followers, his advances and retreats displaying considerable skill.

Abbess Miejue was humiliated, but how could she explain to everyone that her strike hadn't been merciful?

Everyone had clearly seen her two light strikes severely injure Zhang Wuji, but after being frightened by Yin Yewang, her third strike was merely a show of force, lacking any real power. She tried her best to explain, but no one believed her. Besides, she was always arrogant and wouldn't ask anyone to believe her. She glared fiercely at Zhang Wuji and said loudly, "Yin Yewang, if you want to test my palm strength, please come here."

Yin Yewang cupped his hands and said, "I am grateful for your kindness today, Master, and dare not offend you further. We'll meet again."

Abbess Miejue waved her left hand, said nothing more, and led her disciples westward. The Kunlun, Huashan, and Kongtong sects, as well as Yin Liting, Song Qingshu, and others followed.

Zhao Lingzhu approached at this moment and said, "Young Master Zeng, will you come with us?"

Zhang Wuji shook his head and said, "From today onwards, your master will definitely hate me very much. I can't stay with you anymore. But I will come to find you. You go back with your master first. Remember to take good care of yourself. I will definitely come to the Emei Sect in a grand eight-bearer sedan chair to marry you and Minjun!"

"Then...then you must take care too!" Zhao Lingzhu said tearfully.

Zhang Wuji nodded and said, "I will."

Zhao Lingzhu turned and left with tears in her eyes. After watching the righteous martial arts sects, led by the Emei Sect, leave, Zhang Wuji thought to himself that his path to Bright Peak had only just begun. If he couldn't learn the Great Shift of the Universe and have his empire and beauties under his control, it would all be nothing but unrealistic talk.

Chapter 009 First Encounter with Yang Buhui

Zhang Wuji walked towards Yin Yewang and said, "Senior, I will never forget your great kindness."

Yin Yewang took his hand, looked him over for a while, and asked, "Your surname is Zeng?"

Zhang Wuji nodded and said, "Yes, Zeng Aniu, orphaned."

Yin Yewang laughed and said, "Boy, you've been given a second chance at life today. If you continue to meddle in the affairs of the martial world, even ten lives wouldn't be enough to compensate for it." He then waved his left hand.

Yin Yewang asked, "Brother Zeng, who is your master?" Zhang

Wuji hurriedly replied, "No, no! You mustn't call me brother. I'm your junior. Just call me 'A Niu,' I don't have a master."

Yin Yewang's mind raced: "This kid's martial arts are so strange; keeping him around will only bring trouble."

Just then, several extremely sharp conch shell sounds came from afar, a signal that the Eagle Sect was on alert.

Yin Yewang frowned, thinking, "It must be the Flood and Blazing Fire Banners blaming me for not rescuing the Sharp Gold Banner, causing trouble again."

He said, "The Heavenly Demon Sect has encountered an enemy; I must rush back to deal with it. You should leave quickly." After Yin

Yewang left, Zhang Wuji headed alone towards Bright Peak. He didn't know the way or anyone, and the journey was arduous.

By evening, Zhang Wuji was parched and drenched in sweat. Just as he was thinking of finding a place to rest and get something to eat, everything suddenly went black. He found himself encased in a huge sheath, suspended in mid-air, seemingly inside a cloth bag, being lifted up by someone. He hurriedly reached out to tear the bag, but it was neither silk nor leather; it was exceptionally tough, its texture clearly visible, made of coarse cloth, yet it wouldn't budge when torn.

The man threw the bag to the ground, laughing loudly, and said, "You managed to crawl out of my bag, that's

quite an achievement." Zhang Wuji channeled his inner strength, pushing outwards with both hands, but the bag was soft and wouldn't yield. He raised his right foot and kicked out forcefully; with a muffled thud, the bag bulged slightly outwards. No matter how he pulled, pushed, tore, rolled, or bumped it, the bag remained stubbornly unyielding.

At this moment, Zhang Wuji wasn't afraid but rather overjoyed. Haha, wasn't the one who had trapped him the incompetent Master Shuobude? Without him, how could he have reached Bright Peak, met Cheng Kun, and finally mastered the Great Shift of the Universe in the secret passage?

Knowing that it was Master Shuobude who had captured him, Zhang Wuji became polite and even chatted with him.

The two chatted amiably... The rest of the story, which I won't go into detail about, is about the internal strife at Bright Peak. The people were unwilling to accept Yang Xiao, the Left Guardian of Bright Peak, as their leader, resulting in a fierce fight where both sides were severely injured. Yuanzhen (Cheng Kun) entered through a secret passage, nearly killing everyone at Bright Peak. He then revealed how he used Xie Xun's name to commit murder, making Xie Xun an enemy of the martial arts world. He also mentioned the secret passage, his secret meeting with the wife of Yang Dingtian, the leader of the Ming Cult. He warned that if Yang Dingtian were to suffer a qi deviation and die, the Ming Cult would be enraged... Finally, Zhang Wuji stepped forward and chased after Cheng Kun... (For details, read Jin Yong's *The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber*).

At this moment, Zhang Wuji, cursing and chasing, shouted, "Cheng Kun, you great villain, leave your life!"

He rushed out of the hall, only to see Yuanzhen's back flash by as he entered a side door.

Filled with rage, Zhang Wuji gave chase, only to find himself in a small hall. Behind the hall was a courtyard, where the fragrance of flowers wafted through the air. A light shone from the window of the west wing. He leaped forward, pushed open the door, and saw a fleeting shadow as Yuanzhen lifted an embroidered curtain and rushed inside.

Zhang Wuji followed, but Yuanzhen had vanished. Looking around intently, he was secretly astonished. He found himself in what appeared to be the boudoir of a wealthy young lady. Near the window was a dressing table, with bright red candles illuminating the room, making it appear opulent and luxurious, no less grand than Zhu Jiuzhen's house. On the other side was a bed, its curtains drawn low, and a pair of pink embroidered shoes lay before it, indicating someone was sleeping there. The boudoir had only one entrance, and the windows were tightly shut. He had clearly seen Yuanzhen enter, yet she had disappeared in an instant. Did she possess some kind of invisibility technique? Or had she disregarded her status as a monk and hidden herself in a woman's bed? Just as Zhang Wuji was undecided whether to lift the curtain and search for the enemy, he suddenly heard light footsteps; someone was approaching.

Zhang Wuji slipped behind a tapestry on the west wall, and two people entered the room. Peeking out from behind the tapestry, Zhang Wuji saw two young girls. One wore a pale yellow silk robe, her attire luxurious; the other, younger, wore a blue cloth robe and was a maidservant. She hissed, "Miss, it's late. Please rest."

Ah! The two who entered must be Yang Buhui and Xiao Zhao!! Zhang Wuji was so excited he almost cried out.

He saw the young lady slap Xiao Zhao hard across the face, causing Xiao Zhao to stagger back a step. The young lady swayed slightly and turned her face. Zhang Wuji could see her clearly in the candlelight. She had large, dark eyes, arched eyebrows, and a pair of bright, star-like eyes. Below her straight, delicate nose were luscious, red lips that seemed to melt at the touch. Her slender, graceful figure and captivating curves made her beautiful from head to toe. Her aura was breathtaking. The other Xiao Zhao was in disguise. Her right eye was smaller than her left, and her nose and mouth were distorted, making her look quite frightening. However, Zhang Wuji knew this wasn't her true face, so he wasn't surprised.

Yang Buhui cursed, "You want me to sleep? Humph! The six major sects are besieging Bright Peak, and my father is discussing countermeasures all night long. He's still not finished. He didn't sleep, how can I sleep? It would be best if my father were killed, and then you killed me. Then you'd rule the world!"

Xiao Zhao didn't dare to argue and helped her sit down. Yang Buhui said, "Quickly, bring me my sword!"

Xiao Zhao went to the wall, took down a long sword hanging there, and found that she had an iron chain between her feet and on her wrists. Her left leg was lame, and her back was hunched over.

Yang Buhui took the longsword and said, "The enemy could come at any time. I need to go out and patrol."

Xiao Zhao said, "I'll stay with you, Miss. If we encounter the enemy, we'll have more people to help." Her voice was hoarse and unpleasant, like that of a rough middle-aged man. Yang Buhui said, "Who needs your fake kindness?" With a flick of her left hand, she seized Xiao Zhao's right wrist, rendering her immobile. She trembled and said, "Miss, you...you..."

Yang Buhui sneered, "The enemy is launching a full-scale attack. My father and I are in imminent danger. You are probably an enemy spy sent to Bright Peak, aren't you? How can my father and I endure your torture? I'll kill you first today!" With that, she flipped the longsword and thrust it towards Xiao Zhao's neck.

Seeing Yang Buhui thrusting her sword at Xiao Zhao, Zhang Wuji, in his haste, didn't have time to think and immediately leaped out, flicking his finger on the blade. Yang Buhui hesitated, her sword clattering to the ground. She released the sword with her right hand, her index and middle fingers aimed directly at Zhang Wuji's eyes. It was originally just an ordinary move, "Double Dragons Snatching the Pearl," but after years of training from her father, she executed it with considerable power.

Zhang Wuji leaped back, blurting out, "Sister Buhui, it's me!"

Yang Buhui, accustomed to being called "Sister Buhui," was startled and asked, "Is it Brother Wuji?"

She only recognized the title "Sister Buhui," but not Zhang Wuji's face. Because in her entire life, Zhang Wuji was the only brother she had ever known.

Zhang Wuji felt a pang of regret, but he could no longer deny it, so he said, "It's me! Sister Buhui, how have you been all these years?"

Yang Buhui looked at him closely and saw that his clothes were tattered and his face was dirty. She was startled and said, "You...you...are you really Brother Wuji? How...how did you get here?"

Zhang Wuji said, "It was Buqun who brought me to Bright Peak. After that monk Yuanzhen came to this room, he suddenly disappeared. Is there another way out here?"

Yang Buhui asked in surprise, "What monk Yuanzhen? Who came to this room?"

Zhang Wuji was eager to chase after Yuanzhen. This matter was a long story, so he said, "Your father was injured in the hall. Go and see him quickly." Yang Buhui was startled and hurriedly said, "I'll go see my father." As she spoke, she struck Xiao Zhao's head with a palm, the blow extremely heavy.

Zhang Wuji cried out, "No!" He pushed her arm, and Yang Buhui's palm missed.

Yang Buhui tried to kill Xiao Zhao twice, but was stopped both times. She said sternly, "Brother Wuji, are you and this girl on the same side?"

Zhang Wuji asked curiously, "She's your maid. I just met her. How could we be on the same side?"

Yang Buhui said, "Since you don't know the details, then don't meddle. This maid is my family's biggest enemy. My father chained her hands and feet to prevent her from harming me. Now that the enemy is attacking in force, this girl wants to take the opportunity to retaliate."

Zhang Wuji said, "Miss, do you intend to take revenge?"

Xiao Zhao shook her head and said, "Absolutely not."

Zhang Wuji said, "Sister Buhui, listen to her, she says she won't. Let her go!"

Yang Buhui said, "Alright, since you're pleading for her..." She swayed to the side, unsteady on her feet. Zhang Wuji quickly reached out to support her, but suddenly felt a sharp pain in her lower back, specifically the "Xuan Shu" and "Zhong Shu" acupoints, and fell to the ground. It turned out that Yang Buhui found him a nuisance, so she lured him close and struck two major acupoints on his head with the iron ring on her middle finger. After knocking Zhang Wuji down, she turned her right hand and struck Xiao Zhao's right temple.

Just as the blow landed, Yang Buhui suddenly felt a burning sensation in her dantian, her whole body went numb, and she involuntarily released Xiao Zhao's wrist, her knees buckled, and she sat down in the chair. It turned out that her forceful strikes to Zhang Wuji's acupoints had backfired; Zhang Wuji's martial arts were still in their early stages, and his Nine Yang True Qi lacked protective power, yet it had spontaneously surged outwards, impacting Yang Buhui's meridians.

Xiao Zhao picked up the longsword from the ground and said, "Miss, you always suspect I'm trying to harm you. Killing you now would be effortless for me, but I have no such intention." She sheathed the sword and hung it on the wall.

Zhang Wuji stood up and said, "See, I wasn't wrong!" After being struck on an acupoint, he quickly recovered using his inner energy and regained his mobility.

Yang Buhui stared at him, greatly alarmed. The numbness in her limbs had subsided, and she was worried about her father's safety. She stood up and said, "How badly is my father injured? Brother Wuji, wait for me here. We'll meet again later. How have you been all these years? I've always thought of you..." As she spoke, she ran out.

Zhang Wuji asked Xiao Zhao, "Miss, that monk escaped into this room but suddenly disappeared. Do you know of any other passageway here?"

Xiao Zhao asked, "Are you really determined to chase after him?"

Zhang Wuji replied, "That monk is wicked and has committed countless sins. I...I...I will chase him to the ends of the earth."

Xiao Zhao looked up, gazing at his face.

Zhang Wuji said, "Miss, if you know the way, please show me." Xiao Zhao bit her lower lip, hesitated for a moment, and whispered, "You saved my life. Alright, I'll take you." She blew out the candle, took Zhang Wuji's hand, and led him away.

Zhang Wuji followed her for only a few steps before reaching the bedside. Xiao Zhao lifted the bed curtains, slipped inside, and held onto Zhang Wuji's hand tightly.

Xiao Zhao whispered, "The passage is inside the bed!" Hearing these words, he was instantly invigorated. Forgetting all propriety, he watched as Xiao Zhao pulled back the quilt and lay down beside her. Suddenly, the bed tilted to one side, and they both tumbled down

several feet. Fortunately, the ground was covered with thick, soft grass, so they felt no pain. They heard a soft thud above their heads, and the bed returned to its original position. Grabbing Xiao Zhao's hand, he ran forward hastily. After running several feet, he heard the sound of chains dragging on Xiao Zhao's feet and suddenly realized, "This girl is lame, and she has chains on her feet. How can she run so fast?" He immediately stopped.

Xiao Zhao guessed his thoughts and laughed, "My limp is just an act, to fool Master and Miss."

Zhang Wuji was busy chasing the enemy, running dozens of feet through the winding passageway until he reached its end, but Yuanzhen was nowhere to be seen.

Xiao Zhao said, "I've only been this far in this passageway before, and I believe there's another way ahead, but I can't find the mechanism to open it." Zhang Wuji reached out and felt around, but the stone walls in front of him were uneven and without a single crack. He pushed hard against the unevenness, but it didn't budge.

Actually, Zhang Wuji wasn't really thinking of chasing Yuanzhen; he wanted to find Yang Dingtian's corpse and then obtain the Qiankun Great Shift manual. Little did he expect that this secret passage, with its twists and turns, would become so convoluted that he couldn't get out!

Xiao Zhao sighed, "I've tried dozens of times, but I still can't find the mechanism. It's extremely strange. I even brought a torch to examine it carefully, but I didn't find anything suspicious. But where did that monk escape to?" "

The two were trapped in the secret passage, walking and stopping intermittently. Zhang Wuji knew Xiao Zhao was looking for something of hers, so he didn't pursue Yuanzhen. However, things took an unexpected turn; they not only encountered Yuanzhen but were also blocked off with explosives. As a result, Xiao Zhao and Zhang Wuji discovered the bodies of Yang Dingtian and his wife, along with their suicide note. Finally, Zhang Wuji, of course, saw what he had longed for: the Qiankun Great Shift martial arts manual. (For more details, read Jin Yong's *The Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber*.)"

Trapped in the secret passage, the two could only talk to each other to pass the time.

"Xiao Zhao, the song you sang just now was really beautiful!" Zhang Wuji said, looking at Xiao Zhao.

"Really?" Xiao Zhao smiled slightly and said, "Actually, it's a love song from my hometown. The lyrics...

it's about the longing between two lovers who are far apart and their unwavering loyalty to their love, like the saying, 'If love between two people lasts forever, why should they be together every day?'" "

Zhang Wuji sighed, "Yes, if love between two people lasts forever, why should they be together every day and night! Those who can write such moving poems and lyrics must be deeply affectionate. To sing as beautifully as you, Xiao Zhao, besides genuine emotion, one must also have experienced much to be able to express such deep feeling. Xiao Zhao, do you have someone you love?"

Xiao Zhao was taken aback and said, "Look at me, so ugly, how could I have someone I love? What man would be interested in me?"

"How could that be? True love shouldn't be based on appearance. A sincere heart is the most important thing,"

Zhang Wuji said. "If you've never been in love, how could you sing so movingly and with such feeling? That longing is so clearly expressed."

Xiao Zhao looked at Zhang Wuji in surprise and said, "I didn't expect you to know so much, Young Master Zhang." "But I really don't have a lover. When I sang, I was thinking of my hometown and my mother..."

"That's true. Homesickness and longing for one's mother are far more touching and pure than romantic love..." Zhang Wuji nodded and said, "If the two of us can't get out, will we die here like Leader Yang and his wife?"

"Huh?!" Xiao Zhao looked at Zhang Wuji in surprise and said, "Why would you think that?"

Zhang Wuji said, "Because we really can't get out."

Xiao Zhao fell silent for a moment, then said, "Going back to the question we just discussed, you said the most important thing for lovers is their sincerity. I want to ask you, if it were me and my young lady, and you had to choose between us, who would you choose as your lover..." As she said this, Xiao Zhao finally lowered her head shyly.

Zhang Wuji was overjoyed; the fish had finally taken the bait.
