Three's New World - Chapter 68: Searching for Shadows

The next morning, the three of them sat together having breakfast. Yunxi lowered her head and remained silent for a while, then suddenly said softly, "Sister, I really hope he can come to my wedding..."
"Xiao Xi, are you talking about... Sigh, why are you doing this? You've already let it go..." Yunwen looked at her sister in surprise.
Yoon-hee shook her head and said gently, "I no longer love him, but he represents my past and has given me a lot of happiness. I hope he can be a witness and I hope to receive his blessing."

Just as they were wondering if anyone was inside, the door quietly opened, and a simply dressed woman with a haggard face stared at them in surprise. Her expression was extremely flustered; she was clearly unprepared. Upon seeing the two sisters, she instinctively tried to close the door.
Without thinking twice, Yunwen forcefully pushed open the door and barged in. The moment she entered, she was greeted by the aroma of Chinese medicinal herbs. The two sisters looked around the room, their excitement growing. So this was where Qixuan lived now! It was quite different from what they had imagined. In their minds, he should have lived in a mansion; this house was clearly too simply furnished.
Mandy glanced at them absentmindedly. "Since you're here, please have a seat. Yunxi, you like Blue Mountain coffee, right? You must be her older sister, right? You like Pu'er tea?"
The two sisters exchanged a glance. "How do you know so much?"
Mandy gave a bitter smile and turned to walk into the kitchen.
Yoon-hee noticed that Mandy looked somewhat haggard and carried a hint of sadness, completely different from the Mandy she used to know. The Mandy of the past was radiant, even somewhat arrogant, speaking bluntly and without any regard for the other person's feelings!
The three women sat there, secretly observing each other. Suddenly, the atmosphere became somewhat awkward. After all, all three women had intricate connections with Qixuan; they had all accompanied him at different times and shared all sorts of joys and sorrows with him. Suddenly, a surge of emotions welled up within the three women, and they were all spontaneously reminded of their past memories.
"Mandy, where is Qixuan? I need to talk to him." Yunxi broke the silence.
Mandy's face showed a pained expression, and after a long pause, she coldly replied, "He's not here."
"Mandy, I'm getting married next week, and I'd like to invite him... and you too, to my wedding. Here's the invitation. Please pass it on to him."
Mandy looked at Yoon-hee with a complicated expression for a long while, "Finally getting married? Congratulations! His efforts have finally paid off..."
"What do you mean by that?" Yunwen asked in surprise.
Mandy seemed to realize she had let something slip. "It's nothing, he probably won't be able to make it. I'll congratulate you on his behalf. Okay, you can go back now, I'm really busy."
Yunwen was furious when she heard the unfriendly tone and the dismissive tone. "Do you know how much trouble it took for my sister and me to find you? We sincerely wanted to invite him; this is a once-in-a-lifetime event for my sister. Whether Qixuan attends or not is up to him. You should at least give us his phone number so we can ask him ourselves."
Maddy, her eyes red, glared at the two of them. "Are you two ever going to stop? Do you think you're expecting me to give you red envelopes? I've already given you plenty of face. Get out of here right now, I don't want to see you again!"

Hearing this, Yunxi lowered her head sadly. Clearly, her sister's words had deeply wounded her, once again stirring up painful memories of the past. Yunwen, realizing she had spoken too frankly and let something slip, quickly put her arm around Yunxi's shoulder and repeatedly apologized.
"You two sisters, stop putting on this act! I'm not in the mood for this. Get out of here! This is my house!!!" Maddy shouted a few times, then seemed to feel a little better, her tone softening. "You should go back and prepare for the wedding. This is a once-in-a-lifetime event, something many people dream of their whole lives! Don't waste your time here. Leaving now is better for both of us."

"Sister, let's not force her anymore. Maybe... Qixuan really doesn't want to see us again," Yunxi said sadly.
"Hmph, today we're going to see him alive or dead! You either tell me where Qixuan is, or give me his phone number, or we'll never let this go!" Yunwen wasn't as honest as her sister. After saying that, she looked at Mandy with a smug expression, even swinging her legs slightly, adopting a posture of being unreasonable and unforgiving.
