"The Decisive Battle of Wending (When the Peach Ripens)" - Chapter 115: Caution (Second Update)

The sharp fishhook pierced the sperm whale's body, and its blood stained a large area of the seawater red.
The sperm whale's ethereal voice was still as beautiful as ever, but now it was extremely weak and filled with disbelief. She stared blankly at the large hole in her body, as if realizing something, tears welled up in her large eyes, then disappeared into the sea: "Shen, A-Shen..."
The tenderness in the orca's eyes was quickly replaced by savage hatred. It moved swiftly, shooting forward, its sharp teeth snapping into the wire attached to the speargun.
On the whaling ship, the sailors turned the gears, tightened the steel bars, and pulled back the harpoon, embedding it deeply into the sperm whale's flesh. The massive, ten-meter-long sperm whale struggled desperately, but only made the hook tighten and sink deeper.
Orcas' sharp teeth are their deadliest weapons, capable of easily tearing apart any prey in the ocean. But even the orca's sharp teeth are no match for the steel forged by humans after the Industrial Revolution. Despite its ferocious rage and the loss of many teeth, it still frantically tore at the steel bar, its mouth full of blood.
The deadly gears continued to tighten relentlessly, one gear at a time, pulling the sperm whale's body uncontrollably toward the whaling ship. She gave up struggling, her large eyes filled with despair: "Ah Shen... Ah Shen..."
"Sheng! Don't be afraid, I'll save you!" The orca cried out, its teeth shattering.
“It’s no use, Shen…don’t waste your energy,” the sperm whale stretched out its limp fin and touched him. “My vital organs have already been pierced…even if you bite them to pieces, I won’t live much longer…”
The orca paused for a moment, then began to tear at the steel bars even more frantically. It hadn't yet transformed into human form and couldn't cultivate or use its demonic power; it could only helplessly watch as its lover was dragged step by step into the abyss.
"Shen... Shen! Listen to me," the sperm whale mustered its last strength and managed a forced smile, "We're not right for each other... Even if we get married, this little demon can't bear a noble child, forget me..."
They were now close to the surface, and the orca's voice had changed, yelling, "Shut up!—"
With a shout from the sailors, the gears turned and tightened again, finally hoisting the massive sperm whale to the surface. The killer whale could no longer futilely tear at the steel bars.
With a deadly harpoon embedded in her body, her gaze remained gentle as she watched the orca emerge from the water. She only managed to utter her last words, "Goodbye, Shen..." before exhaustion caused her to lose consciousness completely.
"Ah!—" The orca went berserk. They had just been together, how could Sheng be taken away by someone else? No one could take her away!
With its black dorsal fin standing upright, it turned around and swam far away.
The sailors on the whaling ship breathed a sigh of relief; they no longer needed to confront the killer whale head-on.
Suddenly, a fish pointed at the water's surface and cried out in alarm, "Oh no! Look!"
Its black dorsal fin, like a sword, cleaved through the seawater and hurtled towards the whaling ship at breakneck speed!
"boom!!--"
In the rough seas, the whaling ship was already unstable, and this powerful impact was far greater than that of an ordinary killer whale. The crew was terrified and all looked towards the captain.
The captain remained calm under pressure, gripped the handrail tightly, and shouted, "Hold on! Hard to port, get out of here! Harpoon number two, prepare!"
The harpoon that had just hit the sperm whale was pulled to the position of the second harpoon. He was truly remarkable; even in this weather, amidst huge waves, his keen eyes had caught sight of that rapidly moving black dorsal fin.
The orca swam away again, and a man and a whale faced each other across the water. One was consumed by hatred and madness, the other calm and sharp. Perhaps from this moment on, the scales of victory tipped completely in favor of humanity.
The orca gathered its strength and accelerated again, ramming the whaling ship. The previous impact had already left him with a bruise on his head and a moment of dizziness, but the orca didn't care. As long as he sank this whaling ship, he could get his Ah Sheng back.
However, the injury did affect his movements, and then a bolt of lightning struck from the sky. The orca squinted and lost focus, and the fisherman on the boat seized this moment and struck without hesitation.
The harpoon was fired, and the orca, regaining its senses, narrowly avoided a fatal blow with a flick of its tail. However, the shot wasn't entirely without effect; it slashed down along the orca's left cheek, nearly destroying one of its eyes.
The powerful harpoon struck the orca on the head, knocking it unconscious. In the last moments before it lost consciousness, its reddened eyes reflected only Ah Sheng's blood-soaked body, hanging from the whaling ship.
The orca drifted with the tide all night. When he woke up, it was already daytime. He vaguely thought he had just had a nightmare. He believed that as long as he returned to that area of the sea, Ah Sheng would still be there waiting for him.
Desperate to confirm this was a dream, he turned around, which aggravated the wound on his head. The orca struggled to open its left eye, revealing a gruesome wound on its face, with flesh torn open—a truly terrifying sight.
He touched his wound in a daze, only then realizing that Ah Sheng was really gone, and he would never hear that ethereal singing voice again...
----------------------------------------------------------
Centuries later, the orca finally transformed into human form and roamed the human world. It was a stormy night, and ever since the night Ah Sheng died, the orca had developed a deep aversion to lightning. It terrified him, pained him, and made him wish he had died that very night.
Helpless, he ducked into a shop. The bright lights inside were a bit glaring, and the orca squinted before its eyes adjusted.
The saleswoman saw a young and handsome customer enter the store and greeted him warmly: "Sir! We sell top-quality niche fragrances here, made to order only for our distinguished guests. Would you like to try some?"
The orca couldn't refuse the request to take shelter from the rain, so it had to agree.
The saleswoman excitedly searched through the row of perfume counters, then carefully took out a bottle of light blue perfume: "Sir, from the moment I saw you, I knew this fragrance was perfect for you. It matches your temperament perfectly. Perhaps today, this custom-made perfume will find its rightful owner."
The orca was impatient, but still reached out its hand.
The saleswoman carefully sprayed a little on his wrist.
The orca initially sniffed the air casually, but its pupils instantly constricted, and shock, anger, terror, and disbelief appeared on its face simultaneously.
"Sir, sir? Are you alright?"
The orca closed its eyes, trembling all over. It clenched its fists so tightly that its nails dug into its palms, drawing blood.
The saleswoman was startled: "Sir?!"
"Ah Sheng... Ah Sheng..." Orca opened his eyes, the seven-foot-tall man's eyes filled with tears, and he trembled more and more violently: "My Ah Sheng... They actually used you... used you!!"
By the end, his voice was filled with hysterical madness: "Ambergris, what a grand gesture, what a precious spice! You despicable humans, you deserve to die, you all deserve to die!!"
The demonic energy exploded, shattering all the perfume bottles in the display case, except for the one held by the saleswoman.
Amid the terrified screams of the saleswoman, the orca snatched the perfume bottle, picked up a sharp shard of glass, and slashed a deep, bloody gash across the face of the paralyzed saleswoman. He said, word by word, "From this day forward, I am irreconcilably opposed to humans, and you are the first!"
The orca emerged from the store amidst the human woman's wails. The heavy rain washed away the blood from its body, forming a crimson stream that flowed into the sewers. The orca's form vanished completely into the rain.
A broken humming could be heard in the rain:
"The Dark Sea"
Bright Sea
My love is in the ocean
warm sea
The cold sea
This world is cruel!

Even villains have their pasts; they can't just be anti-human and anti-world without a reason. Characters need to be fleshed out. While writing this chapter, I thought about that state of despair, and I felt like I couldn't breathe.
The scar on the orca's face has been explained, and the motives of the left-wing successor have been clarified.
Ah Sheng and Ah Shen's love transcended race and class, ending in tragedy and even giving rise to a great demon.
