At this point, Meiling had lost control of her emotions. She suddenly knelt down at the door, looked up at Jiang Bo's mother, and said, "Auntie, I beg you, please let me see Jiang Bo one last time. I can't live without him!"
Jiang Bo's mother looked down coldly at Mei Ling kneeling on the ground and said, "Girl, don't blame us. Your affair has spread. We are a rather traditional family. I will not allow Jiang Bo to continue to associate with you. Just give up on that idea." After saying that, she forcibly pried Mei Ling's hand off the door and slammed the security door shut with a bang.
Meiling collapsed to the ground in agony, crying out, "Jiang Bo, come out! I want to see you! Don't leave me! You promised to cherish me for the rest of my life! You can't do this to me! Come out!"
Meiling's tears blurred her vision, but she kept calling Jiang Bo's name, her voice hoarse, yet she still shouted desperately.
Finally, overwhelmed with grief and anger, Meiling collapsed in front of Jiang Bo's house.
After Jiang Bo's mother closed the door, she came into the living room and saw Jiang Bo sitting on the sofa with his head down, tearing at his hair with both hands.
Jiang Bo heard footsteps, looked up at his mother and said, "Mom, I want to see Meiling. Please let us meet."
Jiang Bo's mother said with a livid face, "Xiao Bo, I'm doing this for your own good and for the good of our family. If you marry a girl like this, where will your father and I put our faces afterward? Have you thought about it? Your father and I are respected people at our workplaces. If others find out about this, it will have a very bad impact on our family. And you, how will you face people at work afterward? Have you thought about this?"
Jiang Bo looked at his mother. For the first time in his life, she seemed like a complete stranger. In his mind, she had always been kind, tolerant, compassionate, and selfless. But now, what she was saying was unacceptable to him.
“You only care about your and Dad’s reputation. Have you ever thought about me? Have you ever thought about Meiling? I love Meiling, and Meiling loves me. Even though she was raped, can we blame her? What you’re doing now is like kicking someone when they’re down. You can’t be so selfish. I have to go see Meiling!” Jiang Bo suddenly stood up from the sofa.
Jiang Bo's mother clearly did not expect her son to talk back to her. In her eyes, Jiang Bo had always been a good boy since he was a child, and he always obeyed her. Now, Jiang Bo was actually criticizing her for the sake of a girl, which was something she could not accept no matter what.
She felt her whole body begin to tremble. "Xiao Bo, I went through so much to give birth to you and raise you, and now you're saying this to me for a girl? Am I selfish? What did I do this for? Was it for myself? You are my only son. Everything your father and I have done is for you. If you dare to step out the door today, you can forget about ever calling me Mom again!"
Jiang Bo looked at his mother in despair and cried out, "Mom, why are you doing this? I love Meiling, I can't live without her!"
“You love her, right? Fine, you can go out and see her now. But if you do, you will lose your mother forever. If you dare to step out of this door today, I will die in front of you!” Jiang Bo’s mother said, her face pale and her whole body trembling.
Jiang Bo looked at his mother in front of him, slumped back onto the sofa, buried his head in his hands, and burst into tears.
