Friend's wife

I met this friend while playing cards. We were just casual acquaintances for several years. I'd met his wife a few times, but we weren't very close, so I'll just call her Xiaojuan. Later, I was transferred to a purchasing position. My company and their company had collaborated before, so we started having more contact. Xiaojuan originally worked in the online field, but knowing I was in charge, she put in a good word for me, and I reciprocated by doubling my business. I remember one autumn afternoon, she invited me to tea. The place was quite crowded, so I got a private room, ordered two dishes and a fruit platter, discussed some business, and after lunch, we chatted for a while before I left. She said she had to make a phone call and left behind me, but I didn't wait for her. When I was almost at the company, she sent a message thanking me for paying the bill, but I didn't reply because I was busy. After get off work that evening, she sent another message saying she'd treat me to dinner next time, and I gave a brief reply, but that was the end of it. The following spring, my friend had been stationed abroad for over six months. Xiaojuan, who was raising a child alone, called me late at night after a company party to take her child back to her hometown because she couldn't take care of the child the next Saturday. After dropping her off, I went home. When I got home, she texted me to ask if I got home safely, and we texted until very late. This time, I realized we seemed quite close; we chatted about everything, from everyday life to trivial matters. One night, she called me to invite me to dinner, saying she suddenly felt like drinking. I'd never seen her drink before and thought something was wrong, so I went. She had a little beer and then stopped, while I drank quite a bit. I felt dizzy, so I booked a hotel room and checked in. We had tea and chatted until very late. I half-jokingly said, "I'm dizzy, I'll go to sleep first. You should take a shower and go to sleep too!" She sat for a while and then went to take a shower. I heard the water and wanted to rush in, but I felt that would be too inappropriate, so I didn't move and continued watching TV until she came out. The first thing she said when she came out was, "You're a really nice person!" I asked, "What do you mean?" She said, "You didn't open the door while I was showering!" I thought she was teasing me, so I said, "I heard you lock the door. Anyway, why bother opening it?" She smiled and didn't say anything. To be continued...
