Transparent Life Chapters 1-4

Chapter 1 A Terrifying Morning

That morning, like any other, as soon as the gymnastics broadcast began, all four of us in the dorm jumped out of bed at the same time.

"Damn it, it's like they're calling my soul every day," I complained as I put on my shoes. "Erpang, did you download those new porn movies that came out yesterday?" Erpang yawned and squeezed his way into the toilet,

completely ignoring me.

"Erpang, you eat so much all day, be careful you don't get rectal prolapse one day," I cursed at the toilet. Erpang still didn't answer, leaving the door open and focusing on his business. The smell of feces wafted into the dorm room with the fresh morning air.

"Damn it, Erpang, you're going to die if you don't close the door when you go to the toilet?!" Glasses yelled at Erpang in a shrill voice. Erpang chuckled: "Haha, waking you guys up, isn't that good?" He slammed the door shut.

I picked up my toothbrush and walked to the sink to rinse my mouth when Gangzi, another roommate, came over and shoved me aside. He gave me a strange look, like he didn't recognize me.

"Damn it, are you crazy? Haven't you seen your grandpa before?" I glared at Gangzi, a little angry. Everyone seemed a bit odd today.

I lost all interest in washing my face and brushing my teeth. I was thinking of calling Glasses to go to the cafeteria with me to grab a couple of buns, only to find he'd already left.

Damn it, he left without even asking me! I rushed out of the dorm, but after only a few steps,

someone shoved me hard from behind, sending me sprawling face-first. The other person also fell to the ground. I was furious and wanted to rush over and beat him up. Before I could even get up, the man's face contorted in terror, muttering repeatedly, "A ghost! A ghost!" "You're the ghost, you bastard! You want a beating?

" I scrambled to my feet, ready to fight him, but before I could even approach, he tumbled and scrambled away. His speed was so incredible

, even Liu Xiang would be stunned. Was he scared off? When did I become so imposing? I sheepishly dusted myself off and decided to take a closer look at myself through the floor-to-ceiling window by the cafeteria entrance.

Our dorm was very close to the cafeteria, and to avoid queuing after morning exercises, my roommate and I usually ate breakfast first and then rushed to the field.

From a distance, I saw him sitting by the window, his glasses pressed against the outside of the cafeteria. He was drinking porridge and munching on a large vegetable bun. His thick glasses were practically sliding down his nose.

It was just past 7 o'clock, and the warm sunlight shone on the floor-to-ceiling windows outside the cafeteria, reflecting the passing crowds. I decided to go over and check my reflection.

As I approached the window, about to greet him, I froze, completely dumbfounded. It wasn't because his glasses had fallen into his porridge; it was because the reflection in the glass was of a lifeless cycad. There wasn't a trace of me. I turned around, confirming there was a cycad behind me, and I was standing right in front of it. I looked back at the glass again, still dumbfounded—still no sign of me. Had I become transparent? I went around to the back of the cycad and examined the glass closely. There was only the cycad; still no me.

I walked over and carefully touched the floor-to-ceiling window, confirming it was the same glass I always saw when I entered the cafeteria. The cool touch between my fingers told me I wasn't dreaming.

Suddenly, a sense of foreboding washed over me, and I remembered some things that had just happened. Could I really be blind? No, maybe it's just a problem with light refraction. It must be a natural phenomenon. Could it be that David Copperfield suddenly appeared at our school today and played a huge joke on me? I tried to reassure myself.

I tapped on the windowpane, hoping the glasses would notice me. Sure enough, the glasses turned and looked in my direction, as if only just noticing me, and waved at me with half a steamed bun in his hand. I excitedly waved back, even though I felt a little silly. But at least I felt relieved.

I walked towards the cafeteria entrance and happened to run into Gangzi and Erpang coming out of their dorm. I greeted them, but they acted as if they hadn't seen me, chatting and laughing as they walked to the glasses' table. So the glasses had been waving at them.

I stood there blankly at the cafeteria entrance, my mind a complete blank. Then someone bumped into me and knocked me to the ground. I groggily got up, rushed to my dorm like a madman, opened the door, pulled out a drawer, and took out a palm-sized mirror.

I closed my eyes and held the mirror to my face. Suddenly, the scene from "A Chinese Odyssey" flashed through my mind—the moment when Supreme Treasure saw himself transformed into a monkey in the demon-revealing mirror. I suddenly understood his feelings.

Opening my eyes, I felt even more dejected than Supreme Treasure. At least he saw the Monkey King in the mirror; I only saw Fatty's underwear hanging under the bed behind me, and through the mirror, I could clearly see dried yellowish-white fluid on his crotch.

Dejected, I ran to the center of the hallway and shouted to the passersby, "I've won 5 million! Everyone who greets me today will receive 100 yuan!" No one paid attention to me; more accurately, no one could see me or hear me. I was

utterly disappointed and collapsed onto my bed back in my dorm. I covered my head with the blanket, hoping it was just a nightmare, and that everything would return to normal when I woke up. In a daze

, I actually fell asleep. I only woke up when I heard the sound of a key turning in the door.

It was Glasses and the others who came back after their exercises. I called out to them a few times, clinging to a sliver of hope, but the result was predictable. Glasses went back to the dorm, picked up his MP4 player, and lay on his bed reading a novel. Erpang had a fried dough stick dangling from his mouth, chewing it with relish. Gangzi turned on his computer and started playing CrossFire. Seeing them right in front of me, I felt an overwhelming sense of distance.

I got out of bed, took out a piece of paper, and wrote "Mo Xiaofei is here" in five large spades.

Then I waved the paper in front of Erpang's eyes a few times, but he still acted as if I didn't exist, including the paper in my hand. I then stuck the paper to Gangzi's computer screen, and he continued playing CrossFire as if nothing had happened. The way he acted while playing games was like having X-ray vision in real life. I was speechless. I realized that anything I tried to prove my existence was probably invisible to them.

What would happen if I touched them? I remembered the person who bumped into me this morning and ran away like he'd seen a ghost. This meant that although they couldn't see me or hear me, they could still touch me. A glimmer of hope rose in my heart.

I walked behind Erpang and gently patted his shoulder. He turned around and looked in my direction, then, seeing no one, scratched his head in confusion. He continued eating his fried dough stick. I felt a surge of joy, then disappointment. Even if they could sense me, so what? Could they possibly communicate with an invisible, deaf-mute person without mistaking me for a ghost?

Had they not realized I was gone all this time? We played Dota together last night, discussing Japanese actresses! Or had I never existed in their world? An unprecedented sense of dread enveloped me! I felt a chill run through my body. I had truly vanished from this world, along with all traces of my past life. Or had I fallen into a parallel universe identical to my original one, only this one had never existed. They couldn't see me, nor could they hear me. To this world, I was like a ghost.

Chapter Two: A New Life

My name is Mo Xiaofei, I'm 19 years old, and a sophomore in college. My usual hobbies are playing CF with Gangzi, discussing novels with Glasses, and watching porn with Erpang. But now, all of that is gone. Just three days ago, when I woke up in the morning, I found that I had disappeared from this world. People no longer remember that there was a person named Mo Xiaofei, they can't see me, and they can't hear me. They can touch me, but they only see me as a ghost. I have become an invisible person in this world. You might think this is a plot from a science fiction or fantasy novel, but it's not. This is just the beginning of a new life for me.

In these three days, I've spent most of my time in my dorm room. Besides the loneliness and fear in my heart, there's another reason: walking around as an invisible person is a very dangerous thing. For example, people can't see you, and if you're not careful, you'll be bumped into. You might get hit by a basketball flying by on the playground, and if you sit on a bench by the roadside, someone might sit down and pretend you're not there. Even if you're taking a dump in the toilet, someone might take your spot. These are all very helpless things.

But after three days, I gradually adapted to this new life and finally discovered that being invisible wasn't so bad. Many places I couldn't go before, like the girls' dormitory, became accessible.

Actually, I'm still a virgin. Because of my introverted personality, I rarely interact with girls and have always been curious about their bodies. I had a girlfriend once, but it only went as far as holding hands; she dumped me after a month. She told me the reason for the breakup was that I was too honest, too innocent, so innocent that she couldn't bear to hurt me. What could I say? Deep down, I really wanted it too, but I was too shy. After all, it was my first relationship, and I didn't know how to act. I was her fourth boyfriend; she just wanted a change of pace, but she didn't expect me to be so uninteresting.

On the fourth night, I arrived at the girls' dormitory. It was past 10 pm, and there were very few girls coming in and out. I was quite nervous going to the girls' dormitory for the first time. Although people couldn't see me, to me, it felt no different than before.

The gatekeeper was a woman around 50 years old, quite overweight; I knew the girls called her "Auntie Pig" behind her back. She was arguing with a boy, probably because he wanted to go in to see someone but was stopped by her.

I walked over to them, looking at the embarrassed boy. I laughed a few times, then swaggered past her, humming a tune—no one could hear me anyway. In the

corridor, watching all sorts of girls passing by, I was incredibly excited. Because it was summer, many girls were only wearing shorts and tank tops or camisoles. Breasts of all shapes and sizes, some not wearing bras at all, their bulges visible. I suddenly felt surrounded by happiness; all of this belonged to me. Was this a dream? I could hardly believe my eyes.

Suddenly, my eyes lit up; I saw someone walking in from the dormitory entrance. It was our English teacher, Xue Caijie! Then I remembered she also lived in the girls' dormitory. She was 24 years old and had chosen to stay on campus after graduation.

Perhaps to save money, she also lived in the girls' dormitory.

We boys all agreed that she was very beautiful and pure-looking, 1.62 meters tall, with shoulder-length short hair, delicate features, fair skin, and always smiling at everyone, showing a perfect eight teeth.

Every boy who saw her felt like they were seeing the older sister next door.

At that moment, she was wearing a red plaid short-sleeved shirt. A few buttons were undone, revealing a white strapless bra underneath. She was wearing very tight capri pants, which accentuated her shapely buttocks. It must feel amazing if she wore them from behind. I thought wickedly, and my penis involuntarily became erect.

She walked towards the dormitory while quietly talking on the phone. I followed behind her, masturbating while eyeing her buttocks. You know, masturbating under the noses of girls is incredibly exciting, especially under the noses of so many girls. I finally understand why there are so many perverts on trains these days.

I followed her into the dorm room and found the layout simple and tidy, nothing particularly special except for a laptop on the desk. But I was quickly drawn to some lingerie drying on the balcony.

There was a pink, semi-transparent lace-trimmed panty and a matching pink bra. Damn, wearing such sexy lingerie, isn't that tempting someone to commit a crime? I looked back at Xue Caijie and saw her sitting on the bed, engrossed in a phone call. So I buried my face in the pink panty and sniffed hard, hoping to smell something unusual.

Damn, I pulled my face away in disappointment; there was only the fresh scent of laundry detergent. It seems girls are all very clean.

I wandered around the dorm a few times, feeling rather bored, so I sat next to Xue Caijie and listened to her phone call.

I could vaguely hear that the other person was a man, but we had never heard of her having a boyfriend. I suddenly perked up and quietly put my ear closer to the other end of the receiver.

"It's so late, can't it be Friday night? I have class tomorrow," Xue Caijie pleaded into the phone.

"No, you have to come out now, immediately!" The man on the other end sounded impatient.

"Okay, where?" Xue Caijie asked, looking helpless.

"The back gate of the school, I'll wait for you in the car," the man said before hanging up.

What was she going out so late for, and who was that man? My mind was full of questions, so I decided to go out with Xue Caijie to find out. Before

leaving, Xue Caijie tidied herself up a bit in front of the mirror. When we arrived at the dormitory entrance, Aunt Zhu greeted Xue Caijie seemingly warmly: "Oh, Teacher Xue, going out so late?" Xue Caijie wasn't in the mood to waste time with her and casually replied, "Yes, I'm going out to take care of something." Then she left.

Aunt Pig then revealed a face full of disdain, muttering under her breath, "Slut, what are you pretending to be innocent for? You're a whore who's been with a thousand men." Though her voice was soft, I heard it all. I was a little angry; how dare she insult Xue Caijie like that? So, as she passed by, I stuck out my foot, causing her to trip and fall. Before she could even get up, I chased after Xue Caijie.
