The sequel to "Mother and Son's Ordeal": A Dog's Tail (57)

Word Count: 11261
Chapter 57 Whether Heavily or Lightly Makeup,
She's Always Beautiful The woman who had just woken up didn't answer Xu Wanyi's question, only staring blankly ahead.
The atmosphere became somewhat heavy; none of the three people in the cave spoke, and the cave was completely silent.
Zhang Rui and Xu Wanyi, mother and son, looked at each other, not knowing when the woman had woken up or why she hadn't spoken. None of the three dared to speak first. Xu Wanyi gripped Zhang Rui's hand tightly, so tightly that Zhang Rui felt a slight pain.
The woman who had woken up had a stiff, expressionless face, only a blank stare in her eyes.
"You...who are you? This...where is this?" After a long while, the beautiful woman who had finally woken up finally spoke softly.
Zhang Rui replied, "This is Mount Hua. My mother and I are survivors of the Zhang family. My grandfather is Zhang Yuntian, and my father is Zhang Gaoyuan."
"Yuntian? Gaoyuan? Who are they? Oh… my head hurts. Why do these two names sound so familiar?"
the beautiful woman murmured, frowning.
Zhang Rui and his mother, Xu Wanyi, exchanged a glance. Zhang Rui thought to himself, "Could it be that Grandma has forgotten everything because she's been asleep for so long?"
"Grandma, I am your grandson, Zhang Rui. This is your wife, my mother, Xu Wanyi," Zhang Rui said respectfully.
"You're my grandson? She's my wife? Sigh… I can't remember anything!" the beautiful woman said.
"Yuntian… Gaoyuan…" the woman continued to mutter to herself.
Zhang Rui and Xu Wanyi were slightly disappointed by the woman's reaction, which they suspected was their relative.
Zhang Rui didn't speak, but silently picked up the fruit his mother, Xu Wanyi, had thrown away in her shock, and went outside to wash it again. Seeing her beloved son Zhang Rui leave, Xu Wanyi quickly followed.
"Rui'er, what do you think? Has she lost her memory?" Xu Wanyi asked with some worry.
"Mother, maybe so. Grandma has been asleep for almost fifty years. Such a long period of freezing might have affected her brain. Mother, I think we should try to get to know her slowly. Maybe Grandma knows some things from the past. I hope Grandma recovers soon."
"Rui'er, that's the only way. Let's hurry up and prepare some food. I'm a little hungry."
"Hmm..."
Zhang Rui lit a fire at the cave entrance and carefully grilled the fish on skewers. Zhang Rui's fish-grilling skills were now superb, and soon the aroma of grilled fish filled the cave.
"Squeak, squeak, squeak," the white weasel had returned sometime earlier. Zhang Rui smiled and tossed a fish over. The little white weasel happily squeaked twice, picked up the fish, and began to eat it heartily.
Zhang Rui adored the white ferret. This ferret was quite wild; it would disappear unpredictably, running off to forage and then returning just as suddenly. He trusted "Mengmeng" even more. Before going up Mount Hua, Zhang Rui had released Mengmeng to fend for itself. Mengmeng was a stallion, and seeing that Xu Wanyi's mount was a mare, it led the mare into the dense forest at the foot of Mount Hua before Zhang Rui and his mother left. From then on, Zhang Rui only needed to return to that forest and whistle, and Mengmeng would come running.
Xu Wanyi also loved the little white ferret. She tossed him a piece of fish, and before it even hit the ground, the ferret leaped high and snatched it up.
The woman who resembled Zhang Rui's grandmother showed no interest in the grilled fish, but instead preferred the ripe red fruit. After taking a few bites, she turned away and remained silent.
The atmosphere in the cave was somewhat somber. Seeing that he and his mother couldn't communicate with this woman who seemed to be his grandmother, Zhang Rui and his mother went outside to practice the sword techniques they had learned from the secret cave of Mount Hua.
Zhang Rui had practiced this sword technique until he was very familiar with it. He discovered that this sword technique seemed to have only nine moves, specifically designed to counter weapons commonly used by martial artists, such as sabers, swords, staffs, spears, and halberds. After sparring with his mother, Xu Wanyi, for a while, Zhang Rui had Xu Wanyi use the Zhang
family sword technique to fight him. Xu Wanyi's movements were graceful and elegant, her swordsmanship more agile than a man's.
Zhang Rui used the nine moves of this sword technique to fight Xu Wanyi. At first, Xu Wanyi could exchange a few blows, but later she was overwhelmed by the strange sword technique and couldn't exert any strength at all. This sword technique was extremely tricky, specifically designed to counter the moves of swordsmen. No matter how Xu Wanyi fought back, she was always completely restrained.
Zhang Rui had gained the upper hand. Seeing his mother somewhat disheveled, he hatched a plan. While his swordplay suppressed his mother's attacks, he began to grope her. Zhang Rui would touch Xu Wanyi's pretty face one moment, and then reach for her full breasts the next.
Xu Wanyi grew increasingly angry, unable to retaliate and constantly teased by her son. Finally, she threw her sword to the ground, angrily saying, "You bad boy, I'm not playing with you anymore! You're making me so mad!" Zhang
Rui also threw down his sword, laughing as he said to Xu Wanyi, "Wife, are you angry? I didn't get enough of touching you earlier, haha. Don't give up so easily, wife. Come on, let's continue."
"I won't do it! You're going to take advantage of me again! Ever since I became your wife, you've become more and more frivolous. I'm a lady from a prestigious family, one of the ten most beautiful women in the martial arts world back then. Now, in front of you, I don't even have the face of a mother anymore!" Xu Wanyi said, her face flushed with anger.
"Mother, please don't be angry anymore. Rui'er was wrong. Rui'er kowtows to you to apologize." After saying this, Zhang Rui respectfully kowtowed several times to Xu Wanyi.
Xu Wanyi chuckled. This Rui'er was too easy to fool; he fell for her tricks so easily.
Seeing his mother smile, Zhang Rui knew she was just joking. In Zhang Rui's heart, no one was more important than his mother, because this woman not only gave birth to him but also became his woman. Zhang Rui didn't have as many thoughts about incest as Xu Wanyi. Zhang Rui loved his mother and regarded her as the most important woman in his life.
"Mother, when I was practicing swordsmanship with you just now, I found that this nine-style sword technique is really powerful. It seems to be a method specifically created to counter various types of weapons. I want to name that sword technique 'Sword-Breaking Style'."
"Hehe, good, Sword-Breaking Style... Sword-Breaking Style..." Xu Wanyi murmured twice.
While Zhang Rui and his mother were engrossed in practicing their swordsmanship, they didn't notice a beautiful woman peeking out of the cave entrance, carefully observing them.
After practicing for a long time, Zhang Rui and Xu Wanyi quietly discussed the intricacies of the sword techniques; both mother and son were very fond of this set of swordplay. Zhang Rui thought to himself, "If I taught this swordplay to the women of Misty Rain Manor, would it improve their swordsmanship even further?"
As dusk fell, Zhang Rui and his mother returned to the cave. The beautiful woman, who appeared to be Zhang Rui's grandmother, was sitting on a straw mat with her knees drawn up to her chest, waiting for them to return.
As usual, Zhang Rui lit a fire and began grilling fish. This time, when Zhang Rui handed her the grilled fish, the beautiful woman didn't refuse. She very ladylike tore off a piece of fish and slowly swallowed it. The beautiful woman's eating movements were very dignified and elegant, clearly showing the demeanor of a lady from a prominent family.
Xu Wanyi ate with refined manners, completely unlike Zhang Rui's wolfing down of his food. Zhang Rui devoured a fish in just a few bites, finishing one fish while the other two women had only eaten a small portion. Without hesitation, Zhang Rui grabbed another fish and ate it in several large mouthfuls as well. After finishing, he picked up some fruit and chewed vigorously, finally spitting out a few pits with a flourish.
"Oh... I'm full," Zhang Rui said contentedly.
Xu Wanyi watched her beloved son's boorish eating habits with amusement, feeling both pleased and amused.
"This Rui'er eats so rudely; all the dining etiquette I taught him at home was for nothing," Xu Wanyi sighed inwardly.
After the meal, Zhang Rui secretly winked at Xu Wanyi. Xu Wanyi glanced at her son's ardent gaze, her pretty face flushing slightly. Xu Wanyi glanced back furtively at the woman who resembled her mother-in-law. She noticed that the woman seemed oblivious to the subtle hints exchanged between the mother and son. Soon after, Xu Wanyi quietly followed Zhang Rui out.
The mother and son, having satisfied their hunger, secretly used their superior lightness skills to hide in a secluded spot at the bottom of the valley for a passionate encounter. That night, the mother and son slept separately, carefully avoiding any appearance of impropriety. However, they didn't notice the woman, who appeared to be their grandmother, subtly twitching her nose a few times before frowning. This beautiful woman seemed to have sensed something "unusual" about the mother and son.
For the next few days, Zhang Rui and his mother interacted with this beautiful woman, who seemed to be a relative, in silence. Zhang Rui was extremely respectful, as it was highly likely that this beautiful woman was his grandmother.
Xu Wanyi couldn't fathom the "mother-in-law's" thoughts. Their few conversations revealed that this woman was highly cultured and intelligent. Her demeanor was elegant and pleasing. During their exchange of glances, the old woman's beautiful eyes sparkled with affection. She was clearly a wise and refined lady, yet she seemed somewhat disliked by Xu Wanyi and Rui'er.
Xu Wanyi, a remarkable woman in the martial arts world, felt a genuine desire to be close to this elegant woman, but this woman, seemingly the old woman, remained silent, secretly observing Xu Wanyi and her son, as if brewing something.
Xu Wanyi secretly took note and also secretly observed the old woman.
A few days later, Zhang Rui suggested a secret trip to the Zhang family's old residence to investigate. Xu Wanyi firmly objected, but Zhang Rui noticed out of the corner of his eye that the old woman's graceful body seemed to shift slightly when he mentioned the Zhang family's old residence and the Demonic Sect.
Zhang Rui took Xu Wanyi's hand and left. As they went out, Zhang Rui looked back at the old woman and saw her sitting cross-legged on a straw mat, her eyes closed, seemingly deep in thought.
After Zhang Rui and his mother left, they began to whisper among themselves: "Mother, do you think Grandma knows something about the Demonic Cult? Why did she seem a little agitated when I mentioned investigating the Demonic Cult's activities at the Zhang family's old residence?"
"Rui'er, I noticed that too. Let's keep a close eye on her. I suspect your grandmother has regained her memory. These past few days, when she's alone, she seems to be muttering a name. I didn't hear it clearly, but it seemed like she was calling 'Bao'er' or something."
"Yes, I understand, Mother. I think Grandma isn't sure about our identities. After all, her memories are stuck about fifty years ago, so it's normal that she doesn't believe us."
"Rui'er, your analysis is correct. That's what I think too. Rui'er, I think we should find an opportunity to test your grandmother."
"How do we test her? Mother, tell me your ideas."
"Rui'er, when I was sorting through the ancestral texts in the secret cave, I found a note left by your grandfather. You can take a look at it later. Here's what I'm planning, and you can do this..." Xu Wanyi gently told Zhang Rui her thoughts. That evening, after practicing swordplay with Zhang Rui, Xu Wanyi went to bathe in the pool alone, while Zhang Rui went to the orchard to pick ripe fruit. Not long after, the woman who resembled Zhang Rui's grandmother emerged, walking gracefully and unhurriedly towards the pool.
Upon reaching the pool, the woman saw Xu Wanyi bathing and turned to leave. Xu Wanyi called out to her, "Grandma, come down too, let's bathe together." Seeing that Xu Wanyi was also a beautiful woman, the woman relaxed and began to undress. Looking around and not seeing Zhang Rui, she slowly and gracefully approached the pool. Xu Wanyi observed this woman who resembled her grandmother, noting that her figure and appearance were in no way inferior to her own. She was tall, with a high, firm bust, a flat stomach, and long, slender legs. Her beautiful face was expressionless, her brows constantly furrowed, as if burdened by something. Xu Wanyi sighed, marveling at the old woman's beauty. Her furrowed brows didn't diminish her beauty; instead, they added a touch of captivating grace, reminiscent of Xi Shi, the legendary beauty of ancient China. Legend has it that during the ancient rivalry between Wu and Yue, the water town beauty Xi Shi possessed a slightly sickly beauty. A woman named Dong Shi tried to imitate her, resulting in the ridiculous phrase "Dong Shi imitates Xi Shi's frown." This old woman possessed the very essence of Xi Shi's sickly beauty. The two women bathed quietly, not speaking to each other, only secretly glancing at one another. "You treacherous cultists, how dare you launch a sneak attack!" Zhang Rui's loud shout came from afar. The two bathing women immediately leaped out of the pool, grabbing their clothes and frantically dressing. The sounds of fighting seemed to drift in from afar, and the woman became extremely nervous. Xu Wanyi, sword in hand, protected the woman as they fled to a cave for cover. Gradually, the sounds of Zhang Rui's fighting ceased, and everything seemed to return to calm. The woman was extremely tense, clutching the corner of Xu Wanyi's dress tightly, her face pale and lips trembling. Just then, a man entered. He was dressed in a thick black robe, his face covered by a veil, revealing only his eyes. "Haha, I've already dealt with that Zhang family brat. Oh ho, here are two beauties. Beauties, don't be afraid, from now on you'll live a life of luxury with me, hahahaha." After saying this, the man walked straight towards the two women. Xu Wanyi shouted and fought the man with her sword. After a few moves, she was subdued and paralyzed on the ground by pressure points. The man slowly pulled off his veil, revealing a face the woman didn't recognize. The woman screamed in terror, "Don't come any closer! Don't come any closer!" The man ignored her and continued walking towards her. The woman kept backing away, grabbing whatever she could find and throwing it at the man. He easily dodged and continued forward. The woman's back was already pressed against the cold cave wall. Seeing the man approaching her so close, she closed her eyes in despair. "Young lady, don't be afraid. I am an elder of the Tianle Sect. The Sect Leader, Wen Bixie, ordered me to stay at the Zhang family's old residence on Mount Hua to inquire about the whereabouts of someone named Wenrou." Upon hearing the names "Wen Bixie" and "Wenrou," the woman suddenly opened her eyes, staring at the person before her in disbelief. "I don't know Wenrou, I don't know what you're talking about, and I know nothing about the Tianle Sect." "I know you are Wenrou, and I also know that you abandoned a child fifty years ago, and that child sent me to find you."

"No...no...no...I didn't abandon that child, I didn't abandon him, I begged him to stay, really, I really didn't abandon him, I searched for him, but I never found him again. Child, child, please forgive me. Waaah!" The woman suddenly began to wail loudly.
"Wenrou..." the man shouted.
"You still want to deny it? You abandoned your husband and child, ran away with Zhang Yuntian, and now that child has wiped out the Zhang family.
Your sins are heinous, and you still don't know your mistakes?"
"No...I didn't abandon my husband and child, I wanted to take Xiaobao with me, Yuntian said he didn't mind that I had a child, Yuntian promised to take good care of us. It was all done by the Tianle Sect, it was all done by the Demonic Sect, my poor Xiaobao."
"Oh? Xiaobao? Who is Xiaobao?" the man asked.
"This...who exactly are you, and why are you asking me this question?" the woman retorted.
"This...you don't need to know who I am, I just need you to tell me what happened back then?"
"No...I won't tell you, just kill me." The woman finished speaking and frantically lunged at the man's sword tip, attempting suicide.
Caught off guard, the man hadn't even retracted his sword before the woman crashed into it. The blade was extremely sharp, piercing through the woman's shoulder and embedding itself about an inch into her flesh. The woman immediately fell unconscious.
The man was startled and forcefully ripped off a human skin mask, revealing his true face—it was Zhang Rui. Zhang Rui immediately called for his mother, Xu Wanyi, who immediately got up; it turned out Xu Wanyi hadn't been unconscious.
Xu Wanyi and Zhang Rui hadn't expected this woman to be so fierce, actually attempting suicide.
Zhang Rui hurriedly pulled out a bottle of hemostatic medicine, tore open the woman's bra, revealing the bleeding wound on her shoulder. After carefully applying the medicine, Zhang Rui exchanged a glance with Xu Wanyi, their faces showing dismay.
"Mother, that was close! If Grandma had charged any further, the sword would have pierced her heart. Alas, I miscalculated. I didn't expect Grandma to be so fierce."
"Alas, it's all Mother's fault for not thinking things through. I shouldn't have come up with such an extreme method. I thought that by strongly stimulating her mind, she would reveal the truth of the past. I didn't expect that either."
It turned out that while Zhang Rui was practicing sword techniques, Xu Wanyi was looking through the Zhang family's ancestral books when she accidentally discovered a letter left by Zhang Yuntian. The letter recorded Zhang Yuntian's long-forgotten memories from his early days in the martial arts world to before he became the leader of the martial arts alliance.
After reading it, Xu Wanyi wanted to tell her beloved son immediately. However, her son Zhang Rui was pondering the matter of sword techniques, so Xu Wanyi didn't take it out until a few days later when the mother and son worked together to revive the woman who seemed to be a relative. During their time together, Xu Wanyi discovered that the woman was unwilling to speak, so she and Zhang Rui devised this plan to interrogate her.
Despite their meticulous planning, Zhang Rui and Xu Wanyi, mother and son, never expected the woman to be so resolute, threatening suicide under duress.
The mother and son stared at the unconscious woman before them, speechless, only blankly recalling the contents of Zhang Yuntian's record…

Time rewinds to over fifty years ago.
A handsome young man knelt before the ancestral tablets of the Zhang family, listening to the Zhang family patriarch's admonition: "Yuntian, today you are eighteen years old. After discussion, the elders have decided to send you out to explore the martial world and broaden your horizons. Whether you can inherit the position of Zhang family patriarch in the future depends on your ability."
"Yuntian understands."
"Yuntian, before you venture out into the martial world, go to the cave in the back mountain for six months to meditate. After that, you can go out and explore the martial world." "
Yuntian understands. Yuntian will pack up and head to the back mountain now."
"Hmm, you may leave."
After Zhang Yuntian left, the Zhang family patriarch smiled with satisfaction. "This Yuntian is truly a rare talent in the Zhang family over the past few decades. At only eighteen years old, he already possesses skills approaching the level of a top-tier martial arts master. If he gains experience in the martial world for a few years, the position of patriarch of the Zhang family will undoubtedly belong to him. No, even contending for the position of martial arts alliance leader for the Zhang family in the future is not a fantasy."
Zhang Yuntian, the most outstanding member of the younger generation of the Zhang family, displayed exceptional martial arts talent from a young age. The Zhang family has done everything in its power to support his growth. By the age of sixteen, Zhang Yuntian's skills had reached the level of a top-tier martial arts master, a feat achieved by only Zhang Yuntian at that age among the younger generation of the Zhang family.
Zhang Yuntian has lived up to expectations, already approaching the level of a top-tier martial arts master at the age of eighteen. This time, the Zhang family has high hopes for Zhang Yuntian because they lost to their competitors in the last martial arts alliance leader competition. Therefore, Zhang Yuntian's appearance has rekindled the Zhang family's hopes of regaining the alliance leader position.
Six months later, Zhang Yuntian left the secluded cave behind Mount Hua. Emerging, his expression was cold and resolute, revealing not a trace of his former arrogance.
"Phew, finally out of the cave behind Mount Hua," Zhang Yuntian exhaled a long breath. He
was in high spirits, finally able to leave Mount Hua and enter the martial world.
At this time, Zhang Yuntian was still unmarried. Before leaving Mount Hua, he had made a promise to his parents: "I will not marry until I become the head of the Zhang family."
Upon entering the martial world, Zhang Yuntian quickly made a name for himself, hailed as a role model and exemplar for the younger generation. He distinguished himself by ruthlessly eliminating a notorious villain in the underworld, achieving instant fame. Zhang Yuntian
did not become complacent; instead, he became even more careful about his words and actions, thus winning the unanimous praise of the righteous martial arts community.
One day, Zhang Yuntian received news that a group from the Demonic Sect, Tianle Sect, was traveling from Yanmen Pass to the interior, carrying important figures from the Demonic Sect. Without hesitation, Zhang Yuntian set off alone.
When Zhang Yuntian arrived at Yanmen Pass, he discovered traces of the Demonic Sect. Following them, he finally intercepted the group inside the pass.
"Demonic Sect traitors, get out of the carriage and surrender immediately, or I will unleash a massacre!" Zhang Yuntian shouted.
After a long while, there was no movement from inside the carriage. The guards nervously drew their swords and knives, ready to fight Zhang Yuntian to the death.
"Young master, please don't attack! I'll get down now. Please don't harm my followers."
A melodious female voice came from inside the carriage. The curtain was pulled back, and a delicate white hand emerged. A stunningly beautiful woman appeared, and Zhang Yuntian felt his mouth go dry.
What a beautiful woman she was! Zhang Yuntian was completely speechless. This woman was gentle and kind, her voice magnetic yet tender. She had high, arched eyebrows, a high, delicate nose, smiling eyes, and passionate red lips.
The woman wore no heavy makeup, only a light, natural touch. Zhang Yuntian recalled a seven-character quatrain describing a woman's beauty: "Whether heavily made up or lightly adorned, she is always beautiful. " "Young master, " the beautiful woman said gently, "
I am traveling with my child to visit relatives. Why have you stopped us?" The woman's ethereal beauty and heavenly voice made the young Zhang Yuntian feel dizzy and unsteady on his feet. "Mother, waah, mother..." a child's voice came from inside the carriage. Hearing the child cry, the woman looked pitifully at Zhang Yuntian. Zhang Yuntian dared not look directly at her and could only nod, signaling the woman to take the child.

After the woman went inside, the child immediately stopped crying. A short while later, the woman came out carrying a cute little boy. The boy was incredibly adorable, chubby-cheeked, like a porcelain doll, his face still streaked with tears from fright.
"Little Bao'er, Little Bao'er, Mother is here. Don't be afraid, don't cry. This uncle isn't a bad person."
Then, the woman said to Zhang Yuntian, "Young master, my name is Wenrou, this is my son, Little Bao'er. Young master, you must have misunderstood. My son and I were just returning from visiting relatives. Why did you draw your sword against us?" Wenrou
asked Zhang Yuntian in a gentle voice. Zhang Yuntian looked at this mature young woman and desperately suppressed his wildly beating heart.
"Miss Wenrou, I received news that traitors from the Demonic Sect's Tianle Sect entered the pass today, so I came to intercept them. It seems I misunderstood." With that, Zhang Yuntian sheathed his sword and bowed deeply to Wenrou with his hands clasped together.
"Hehe, it's alright if this young master misunderstands. It's just that I'm afraid there might be some ill-intentioned people following us along the way. How about you come with us and protect us? By the way, what's your name, young master?" Wenrou finished speaking and stared directly at Zhang Yuntian.
"Oh... my name is Zhang Yuntian," Zhang Yuntian replied somewhat embarrassedly.
"So it's Young Master Zhang! I request that you protect my son and me along the way. Would you be willing?"
Zhang Yuntian was new to the martial world and had never seen such a beautiful woman before. Upon seeing her today, his heart fluttered like a deer. Without hesitation, Zhang Yuntian immediately agreed to Wenrou's request.
That night, when the group camped and rested, Zhang Yuntian, Wenrou, and Xiao Bao'er talked around the campfire.
"Miss Wenrou, I misunderstood you. It seems the person who spread this false information has ulterior motives."
"Young Master Zhang, thank you for escorting me all the way. I don't know why this happened; perhaps my husband's family offended someone."
"Miss Wenrou, I apologize. Please rest assured, I will safely escort you back to your residence to make amends for my offense."
"Hehe, Young Master Zhang, please don't call me 'Miss.' I'm a mother now. From now on, you can call me Madam Wenrou."
"This… alright, Madam Wenrou."
"Mother, I'm sleepy, I want to sleep." The little baby in Wenrou's arms began to get impatient, urging his mother to sleep.
Wenrou gave him an apologetic look, then carried the drowsy little baby to the carriage to rest. Zhang Yuntian stared blankly at Wenrou's departing figure, only leaving to rest after a long time.
Wenrou's beautiful figure and magnetic voice kept Zhang Yuntian tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
"What a pity, such a beautiful woman is already married, and her child is already three or four years old," Zhang Yuntian murmured.
The carriage in the distance quieted down, and the crying of the child ceased. The guards accompanying the woman were divided into two groups, one resting and the other patrolling.
After struggling for a long time, Zhang Yuntian finally drifted off to sleep.
In the middle of the night, several screams, "Ah...ah..." rang out, immediately waking Zhang Yuntian.
He saw that more than ten people had surrounded him. Most of the woman's guards were dead or wounded, struggling to hold on against the onslaught, on the verge of collapse.
Zhang Yuntian immediately rushed to the woman's carriage, drew his long sword, and faced the dozen or so people sent to kill him.
A man who appeared to be the leader spoke up: "Boys, kill these men immediately, capture the people in this carriage, and remember, leave no one alive except those inside the carriage."
"Yes, sir..." the men replied in unison.
Zhang Yuntian wanted to draw his sword and fight these people immediately, but with Lady Wenrou in critical condition, he couldn't leave. So, Zhang Yuntian only drew his sword but didn't attack immediately. Inside the carriage, Xiao Bao'er was frightened by the commotion outside and cried loudly. Wenrou anxiously comforted him.
Before long, Wenrou's attendants and guards were almost all dead or wounded. Of the dozen or so people, only three or five suffered minor injuries; the rest surrounded Zhang Yuntian and his companions.
"Who is this brat? Get out of the way! Don't you want your dog's life?" the leader roared.
"I am Zhang Yuntian from the Zhang family, a martial arts clan. Why are you killing people?" Zhang Yuntian shouted.
"Oh? The Zhang family? Instead of upholding justice, you come here to be bodyguards for this woman?
Heh, it seems the Zhang family are also lecherous, hahahaha."
"You…" Zhang Yuntian was extremely angry.
"Boys, follow me! Let's kill this arrogant Zhang brat!"
"Kill..." the crowd shouted in unison.
Zhang Yuntian made his move. After a series of clanging sounds of swords clashing, everyone except the leader was lying on the ground.
The leader was somewhat panicked. He hadn't expected the Zhang brat to be so skilled in martial arts; in the blink of an eye, all his men were dead. The leader,
terrified, threw down his sword and knelt on the ground.
"Young Master Zhang, I was blind and didn't recognize your greatness. I was only here to abduct this woman on my master's orders. I know I was wrong. Please spare me, Young Master Zhang.
" "Hmph, you are cruel and heartless, harming the innocent. You deserve to die. Tell me, who ordered you to kill?"
The leader seemed afraid to tell the truth. He bit down hard, as if he had bitten through something. A moment later, the leader collapsed and died, bleeding from all seven orifices.
Zhang Yuntian quickly went to examine him carefully. He saw that the leader's death was extremely gruesome; it was the result of poisoning.
Zhang Yuntian was completely bewildered. Why would these people kill and kidnap someone?
The carriage finally quieted down. Wenrou, terrified, tightly covered Xiaobao'er's eyes and carried him out of the carriage.
Wenrou was pale, clearly shaken.
Zhang Yuntian asked, "Madam Wenrou, what happened? Why did these people kidnap you?"
"I knew this would happen sooner or later. I thank Young Master Zhang for saving me. I have no way to repay you, please accept my bow." Wenrou finished speaking and prepared to kneel before Zhang Yuntian.
Zhang Yuntian was somewhat at a loss, grabbing Wenrou's smooth arm and repeatedly saying, "Madam Wenrou, please don't! You're making me uncomfortable. Please rise."
Feeling the smoothness of Wenrou's arm and her warmth through his fingers, Zhang Yuntian's heart was in turmoil.
"Young Master Zhang, please let go..." Wenrou said shyly.
"Oh..." Zhang Yuntian blushed and released Wenrou's hand.
The atmosphere was somewhat awkward. Seeing the corpses scattered everywhere, and knowing that Wenrou and Xiaobao were quite frightened, Zhang Yuntian comforted them and told them to return to the carriage. He then piled the bodies together and cremated them.
Before dawn, Zhang Yuntian drove the carriage away with Wenrou and her son.
Zhang Yuntian still had questions in his mind: who was Wenrou's husband, and why was someone chasing and kidnapping her?
Wenrou and Xiaobao remained hidden inside the carriage, too afraid to come out, so Zhang Yuntian had to find a safe place to settle them.
For several days, Zhang Yuntian diligently cared for Wenrou and her son. He also took care of all the cooking and other chores. Before long, Zhang Yuntian and Xiaobao'er became familiar with each other, and Xiaobao'er was no longer afraid of Zhang Yuntian, constantly pestering him to play with him.
Zhang Yuntian rarely experienced such heartwarming moments; before he turned eighteen, he had spent his life in the cold, demanding training environment of the Zhang family. He dared not forget the earnest hopes of his family, knowing the heavy responsibility he bore.
The few days spent with Wenrou and Xiaobao'er brought Zhang Yuntian a unique sense of warmth, which he cherished deeply.
Wenrou, watching the young and handsome Zhang Yuntian happily playing with her child, also smiled happily. During these few days of observation, Wenrou discovered that this young master Zhang was not only highly skilled in martial arts but also extremely naive. Wenrou had seen many young masters from martial arts families who had come to train, and most of them were good-for-nothings, mostly lecherous.
Wenrou had witnessed many young noblemen using their family's martial arts skills to humiliate common women, so she harbored no goodwill towards them. However, the young master Zhang before her was different. Not only was he handsome, but he was also kind-hearted and deeply loved his son, Xiaobao'er. Wenrou noticed this and remembered it.
Soon, Zhang Yuntian escorted Wenrou and her son back to her husband's home. Wenrou earnestly urged Zhang Yuntian to stay for a few days to repay his life-saving grace, but he resolutely refused and also declined the snowflake-patterned silver offered by Wenrou's husband.
Having fulfilled his duty, Zhang Yuntian left Wenrou's husband's home without hesitation.
Later, Zhang Yuntian inquired further and learned that Wenrou's husband's family was also a minor aristocratic family in the martial arts world. As for why they were being hunted and kidnapped, Zhang Yuntian didn't know. Wenrou didn't tell him, nor did her husband.
Zhang Yuntian continued his adventures in the martial world, believing he would never see Wenrou again, until one day…

Over the years, Zhang Yuntian made a name for
himself in the martial world and met a young man named Xu Zhengting. Xu Zhengting was about six or seven years younger than Zhang Yuntian, a young man. One day, when Zhang Yuntian met Xu Zhengting, Xu Zhengting was fighting a lecherous villain. Xu Zhengting was clearly young and lacked martial arts skills, but he fought the villain with unwavering courage, and in the end, Xu Zhengting was victorious?
Zhang Yuntian greatly admired this young man and shielded Xu Zhengting from the villain's final, fatal blow. Thus, Xu Zhengting became Zhang Yuntian's follower.
During their adventures together, Zhang Yuntian carefully guided Xu Zhengting in areas where he lacked experience in the martial world. Later, Xu Zhengting said he had to return to his sect at the Valley of Heartbreak, and Zhang Yuntian and Xu Zhengting parted ways.
The friendship between Zhang Yuntian and Xu Zhengting lasted for decades, but that's another story.
Over the years, Zhang Yuntian had roamed the martial world and was now a promising young swordsman. Although Wenrou's figure often appeared in his dreams, he only thought about it and never actively sought her out.
However, one day, when Zhang Yuntian heard that Wenrou's husband's family had been wiped out by the Demonic Sect, he could no longer remain silent. He went to the place where he had sent Wenrou back, only to find ruins and destruction; Wenrou and her child were nowhere to be seen.
Undeterred, Zhang Yuntian searched for clues and finally discovered a secret place where the Demonic Sect's Tianle Cult had hidden Wenrou. After a fierce battle, sustaining over ten sword and knife wounds, Zhang Yuntian finally rescued Wenrou, but he couldn't find Xiaobao'er.
After rescuing Wenrou and finding a safe place, Zhang Yuntian collapsed. Wenrou was extremely grateful to Zhang Yuntian for saving her. After her husband's family was destroyed and Xiaobao'er was captured by the Demonic Sect, Wenrou felt she was on the verge of collapse, until one day Zhang Yuntian, like a god of war, defeated her guards and rescued her.
Wenrou tenderly and meticulously cared for Zhang Yuntian, who was severely injured. Zhang Yuntian had several sword wounds on his groin, and Wenrou didn't hesitate to carefully change his bandages and treat his wounds. The two fell in love during their days and nights together, and one night, they finally broke through societal norms and consummated their marriage.
Zhang Yuntian was moved by Wenrou's gentleness; she was a mature woman, while he was a naive virgin, and he had no resistance to her tenderness. He was quickly "conquered"
by her. After their secret marriage, Zhang Yuntian, at Wenrou's request, went to search for Xiaobao'er. Wenrou told him that Xiaobao'er had changed his surname to hers and was now called Wen Xiaobao.
Zhang Yuntian searched for a long time but couldn't find Xiaobao'er, who was now Wen Xiaobao. He guessed that Xiaobao'er must have been captured by the Demonic Sect and bewitched into becoming a member of the Demonic Sect's Youth Hall. In this vast world, finding a hidden child was almost impossible.
Zhang Yuntian eventually gave up searching for Xiaobao'er and returned to Mount Hua with a heartbroken Wenrou.
Zhang Yuntian never expected that the Zhang family would not accept Wenrou as his wife. They disliked her because she was a widow who had been married before and was older than him, and Zhang Yuntian was even punished by being imprisoned in a cave in the back mountains for a year.
Later, after Zhang Yuntian seized the position of head of the Zhang family at the young age of twenty, the opposition to Wenrou's marriage to him gradually subsided.
A few years later, Wenrou gave birth to a son, Zhang Rui's father, Zhang Gaoyuan. On Zhang Gaoyuan's fifth birthday, a boy broke into the Zhang family's old residence, claiming he wanted to take his mother back.
Zhang Yuntian and Wenrou went to meet him and discovered that this boy was none other than the long-lost Xiaobao'er.
Wenrou wanted Xiaobao'er to live with her and her husband Zhang Yuntian, but she never expected that Xiaobao'er had already joined a demonic sect and even fought with Zhang Yuntian over a disagreement.
Zhang Yuntian was tolerant at every turn, while Wen Xiaobao was ruthless at every turn. Seeing her beloved husband and son fighting so desperately, Wenrou was heartbroken and cried out to stop them. Unexpectedly, while Zhang Yuntian was carefully dodging, Wen Xiaobao stabbed
Wenrou with his sword, wounding her and causing her to fall to the ground. Unable to tolerate it any longer, Zhang Yuntian injured Wen Xiaobao's chin, and Wen Xiaobao fled wounded.
Years later, at the martial arts tournament, Zhang Yuntian defeated his competitors from the righteous martial arts world with his superior skills, becoming the new supreme martial arts master and taking control of the entire righteous martial arts world.
The first thing Zhang Yuntian did upon assuming the position of martial arts leader was to unite with his brother Xu Zhengting and the righteous martial arts sects to annihilate the rampant and indiscriminately exterminating demonic sect, Tianle Sect. From then on, Tianle Sect was crippled and disappeared for over thirty years.
After Wen Xiaobao fled wounded, he vanished without a trace along with the demonic sect, while Wenrou, weakened by Wen Xiaobao's sword wound, gradually became frail. Wenrou was physically weak, and Zhang Yuntian summoned many renowned doctors for treatment. However, they all said that sword wounds were easily healed, but the "heart wound" was incurable. Desperate for his wife, Zhang Yuntian frantically searched the martial world for a miraculous medicine to save her life.
After countless near-death experiences, he finally found the "Life and Death Reincarnation Pill." Wenrou, however, fell seriously ill and, on her deathbed, confessed her feelings to Zhang Yuntian. Moved, Zhang Yuntian promised to find Xiaobao'er.
When Wenrou fell into a coma again due to her injuries, Zhang Yuntian, with tears in his eyes, opened the Zhang family's secret cave and placed Wenrou's body on the white marble bed used for cultivating profound internal energy. After spending several months with her, Zhang Yuntian closed the cave, intending to open it fifty years later to welcome his wife who might awaken in the future.
Zhang Yuntian firmly believed that the miraculous effects of the "Life and Death Reincarnation Pill" would save his beloved wife's life, but he never imagined that he wouldn't live to see fifty years later

Looking at the unconscious woman before them, Zhang Rui and his mother said to Xu Wanyi, "Mother, Grandma's life has been so hard. She and Grandpa loved each other so much, yet they are separated by death. Mother, I wonder if this Wen Xiaobao might be Wen Bixie?"
"Rui'er, I think it must be. I never imagined that the feud between our Zhang family and the Wen family started back then."
