Later, she found an opportunity to be alone with Tao Qiang and told him her plan: "Anyway, Shu'er will be your woman sooner or later, so there's no rush. After Wang Ping and Tao Qiang agreed, the three of them began to discuss marriage.
First, there was the issue of household registration. Considering that Wang Ping and Wang Shu would have children with Tao Qiang in the future, it was decided to buy two houses in the west of the city, not far from Yang Nan's current home. Then, Wang Ping would ask Wang Dawei's former colleagues for help to transfer the sisters' household registrations from their home, with Tao Qiang's household registration registered under Wang Ping's name.
The second is the marriage certificate. Once the household registration is settled, this problem is easily solved.
Finally, there was the issue of the wedding. Considering that holding a wedding banquet might lead to people recognizing Tao Qiang as Tao Weidong from back then, it was decided not to hold a wedding ceremony and instead opt for a destination wedding, which is popular among many young people.
After discussing it, Yang Nan said to Tao Qiang, "Qiang, our relationship isn't recognized by the world, so I haven't been able to visit your parents. Of course, the responsibility mainly lies with you; you should have brought them home. Now that you and Pingping are about to become a legal couple, shouldn't you take Pingping back to your hometown to see your parents?"
Tao Qiang thought he should go home. So many years had passed, and he didn't know how his parents were doing. But if he brought Pingping back, what if Liu Juan was still alive, or even if she wasn't, how would he explain it to others when they mentioned her?
Tao Qiang then suggested that Wang Ping not go with him, citing the long and dangerous journey. He would go back alone and bring the two elders to the county town if they were still alive.
A few days later, Tao Qiang returned to Tao Village. When he arrived home, he found the gate locked. He went to ask his neighbors and learned that his parents had passed away long ago, and that Liu Juan had given birth to a boy. However, no one knew where the mother and son had gone, nor did they know the boy's real name. They only knew that the boy's grandparents called him "Baby" and his mother called him "Baby".
Tao Qiang later went to his mother-in-law's house. An old woman next door told him that his parents-in-law had passed away more than ten years ago. Before they died, Liu Juan had lived there for a few months, heavily pregnant. She left Liujiazhuang when she was about to give birth, and no one knew where she went. He then asked many people, but still had no news of the mother and child.
Based on what he knew, Tao Qiang deduced that Liu Juan had given birth to a boy for him, and then married someone else while he was away from home for a long time, and later had at least one more child.
In Tao Qiang's view, not finding him is tantamount to not having him at all. Although he does have a son, he doesn't know where he is or if he has taken his stepfather's surname, becoming a tool for someone else to continue the family line. It seems that now, only by relying on his own efforts to have Pingping or Shuer give him a son as soon as possible can the Tao family possibly prosper.
After returning to Nanjing Forestry University, Tao Qiang told Yang Nan and Wang Ping that his parents had passed away more than ten years ago and that he had no relatives left.
Two months later, everything was ready.
Before National Day in 1990, Wang Ping brought Tao Qiang to the Nanlin Court where she worked, and distributed wedding candies and cigarettes to the leaders and colleagues.
On October 1st, Wang Ping and Tao Qiang boarded a train heading south, beginning their two-week trip to Hainan Island.
