Sinful Love (Father-Daughter Relationship) - Part 2, Chapter 5

Although it was fun, it wasn't the awkward scene Lin Yin wanted to see.
"Actually, it doesn't have to be that complicated," Lin Yin said with a smile. "I can handle this myself."
Upon hearing Lin Yin say this, they immediately showed expressions of "As expected, she did it behind her parents' backs. We'll definitely have to teach her a lesson later."
Lin Yin was just feeling incredibly anxious when there was a knock on the door, and then her father walked in with a leisurely expression.
"Hello everyone, I am Lin Rui, Lin Yin's father."
First, Lin Yin, the 40-year-old former homeroom teacher, was stunned and speechless for a moment. The principal, however, was more impressive; as expected of a seasoned educator, he immediately stood up to greet her.
"Hello, I'm so sorry to have asked you to come in your busy schedule, but there's something I have to deal with, so I need to talk to you about it."
He politely asked Lin Rui to sit down and then poured her a glass of water.
"No, not at all. I've been so busy that I haven't had time to take care of my daughter, Xiaoyin," he said, patting his "precious" daughter's head and giving her a bright smile. "Luckily, I have responsible educators like you, which has saved me a lot of energy."
The principal readily accepted Lin Rui's praise and then said, "Thank you, Mr. Lin, for understanding us. However, just as you said—you don't have time to communicate with your children, which is why you don't know what they've been doing. I understand that you parents are all very busy, and therefore neglect to understand your children, but that's no excuse. Education is about communication. Time isn't an issue, even a short time is fine. The important thing is to communicate, to communicate!"
After hearing his words, Lin Rui showed a strange expression, and then asked his daughter, "Honey, did you do something you shouldn't have? Fighting? Skipping school? Not doing your homework on time? Talking back to the teacher? How many times have I told you that school is not like home, you can't treat your teachers and classmates the way you treat me."
"You know nothing?"
Lin Yin asked impatiently because her father was so long-winded. She never expected that she would be seen as such a hoodlum in his eyes.
"Know what?"
Sure enough, he was summoned without knowing anything.
"If you don't know, you don't know. You'll find out soon enough. But what do you think of me? Who talked back to the teacher? Who didn't do their homework? Who skipped school? Who got into a fight? If you fought with me, I'd beat you to death."
"Yes, yes, don't be angry. I was just asking. Of course I know that with your skills, even Muhammad Ali would have to fall to you. I was just testing the waters."
Lin Rui, who had been extremely serious and handsome when he entered, immediately changed to a fawning smile as if by magic, looking as if he had given up all dignity.
"Cough cough!"
Unable to bear it any longer, the principal ended the Lin family's silly father-daughter performance in this way, and then said, "Actually, we invited Mr. Lin here today because of this." He finally put out the magazine, handed it to Lin Rui, and thought he would see Lin Rui's angry expression.
"This? I haven't seen it yet. Turns out Chen Tao is quite capable. Have you seen it, honey?"
"The whole world has seen it."
Lin Yin retorted irritably. The principal, startled, adjusted his glasses, which were about to slip off, unable to believe his ears. The homeroom teacher, standing nearby, carefully observed Lin Rui's appearance, then, incredulously, combined it with the magazine in the man's hand, and finally screamed.
"Ah!! You are—"
She pointed at Lin Rui, a surprised expression on her face. Lin Rui looked up, allowing the principal, secretary, and director opposite him to see his face clearly, and then they all exclaimed in unison, "Ah!!"
"You...you...you...you are?!"
"What is it?"
Lin Rui looked at the principal, who was on the verge of going crazy, with a puzzled expression, not understanding his meaning at all.
"This is it!"
Lin Yin couldn't stand it anymore and tapped on the magazine, saying, "The teacher invited you here so you could help me give me a good scolding, but he didn't realize you were also an 'accomplice'."
"so?"
He then asked the homeroom teacher next to him, but the latter was already speechless.
"Um, Mr. Lin—you know that Lin Yin does this?" The principal finally managed to get the words out.
"Oh, I know. And I thought it was fun, so I took pictures with my baby—pretty good, right?"
Lin Rui answered decisively, and Lin Yin slapped her forehead, thinking, "I'm doomed."
"But Mr. Lin! Do you know..." The principal's face was almost contorted by Lin Rui's answer and indifferent smile. "Do you know your daughter is still a student? How can you do such a thing..."
"I understand what you mean—that students should act like students and not think about anything but their studies."
"No, it's not that strict..."
"But I don't think this conflicts with her studies," Lin Rui said calmly in his captivating baritone voice. "Everyone here knows very well what kind of person my darling is. She's a good child who doesn't need adults to worry about her, and she's also a child with her own opinions. While academics are important, the most important thing is not to lose one's individuality. I've always advocated a laissez-faire approach to children's education. I can't interfere with other people's children, but my darling is right here, and everyone knows what kind of student she is. Grades will gradually disappear after entering society; the difference between people lies in their ideals. I support Xiaoyin's ideas. Even if she told me now that she didn't want to study anymore, I would still process her withdrawal. As children grow up, they gradually break free from the constraints of their parents and become adults who are responsible for themselves. Therefore, they should naturally be responsible for the path they choose. Isn't that right?"
"That's true, but Lin Yin is still a student at our school, and her actions might have a negative impact on the students." The principal wiped the sweat from his forehead, feeling breathless from Lin Rui's words, so he changed his angle and continued his "attack".
"As you probably know, Lin Yin is a key student our school is focusing on developing, and many students admire her, so in my opinion, this is a bit unwise..."
"I understand. In that case, honey, let's transfer schools!"
These words shocked everyone. The principal almost stumbled over at the absurd remark.
"Mr. Lin, why do you say that?!"
"I'm here to help you out of your predicament." Lin Rui put on an extremely serious expression. Only Lin Yin knew that he would only make such a slightly sarcastic face when reprimanding his subordinates.
"My daughter is probably the cause of the students' unruly behavior, and Xiaoyin's personality is so uncompromising that even I, as her father, sometimes don't know what to do with her. Therefore, in this dilemma, transferring schools is the only solution—it won't affect your school's reputation, and it will preserve Xiaoyin's personality. I believe there are schools all over the world that won't mind this."
"Mr. Lin, please don't be impulsive. Let's talk this out."
The principal quickly invited Lin Rui to his side, ordered some fine tea to be brewed, and did his best to soothe Lin Rui's emotions—he knew perfectly well that a genius student like Lin Yin was someone he couldn't let go of, and Lin Rui understood this perfectly well. In terms of cunning, this old man was far inferior to Lin Rui, who dealt with all sorts of people in the business world.
"Lin Yin, you should go back to class now. Your father and I still need to talk."
This time, he even put on a smiling face for Lin Yin. Lin Yin accepted his gesture and left the house escorted by the homeroom teacher. However, instead of returning to the classroom, she brazenly skipped a class in the courtyard under the pretext of "a major decision about whether or not I should transfer schools." About half an hour later, the people inside finally reached an agreement, and Lin Rui emerged victorious. Seeing Lin Yin, he flashed a triumphant smile.
"The principal said he wouldn't get involved in this anymore, and of course I told him my opinion: this is the last time you'll do this."
"You're quite cunning. How come you said the exact opposite of what you said to Chen Tao back then—that it was because I'm still a student and should prioritize my studies, and that you didn't want this to happen again."
Lin Yin imitated his tone and expression to recreate the situation.
"Of course, you have to say different things to different people. But the matter was resolved perfectly, aren't you impressed?"
"Who is it? I just didn't expect you to force that stubborn old man to compromise by threatening to transfer me to another school."
Lin Rui chuckled.
"Remember, in negotiations, you must seize upon what the other party fears most and bring it up at the most opportune moment to ensure victory."
"Simply put, it's about finding fault with someone! Are you trying to confuse me with such elegant language?"
"I didn't realize how important you are to this school, Xiaoyin, otherwise this plan wouldn't have worked. The principal kept telling me that your growth is inseparable from the teachers here, and the trophies and certificates on the wall are also proof of your gratitude to the school. It's rare to have such a deep teacher-student relationship. We can't let you go to an unfamiliar environment at this time."
"Nonsense!" Lin Yin glared at Lin Rui, annoyed. "You're only now realizing how important I am here! He really should give you a good talking-to. You don't even know how your own daughter is doing at school—is there any father like you?"
"But Xiaoyin, you're not the kind of child I need to worry about."
Lin Rui murmured from behind, "At this time of year, there should be a shower of cherry blossoms to enhance the atmosphere. But this is a school in China, and the campus only has evergreen pines, which should still be budding at this time of year."
The bell rang, signaling the end of get out of class. The once empty campus was immediately filled with a flood of students. Passersby couldn't help but stop and stare at the beautiful couple standing in the center of the school.
"Huh? Xiaoyin? Hey! What are you doing? Did the teacher settle things...? Ha! Uncle Lin?! What are you doing...?"
Li Xin, who had run over upon seeing Lin Yin, nearly popped her eyes out when she saw the person behind her, and froze on the spot. Lin Rui, however, greeted her with great courtesy.
"You must be Li Xin. It's been so long! Why don't you come over for a visit?"
"Oh, Uncle."
Li Xin finally woke up and immediately greeted them.
"Well then, Xiaoyin, I'll be going now. I have things to do at the company. Don't wander around after school, go home quickly. Goodbye, Li Xin."
Goodbye, Uncle.
Li Xin said obediently, but the next second she turned to Lin Yin with a fierce expression: "Why didn't you say your dad was coming! I'd skip class to wait at the school gate!"
"I didn't know at first either—who knew the principal would actually invite him?"
"So, how did it go?" Li Xin grinned mischievously. "The principal must have realized that he's the person on the cover, right?"
"Yeah, it startled them."
"And then?"
Unable to stand Li Xin's gossipy talk, Lin Yin had no choice but to recount what had just happened in detail.
"As for what happened after I left, I'm sorry I couldn't tell you since I wasn't there."
"Wow~ Your dad is even more charismatic than I imagined!" Li Xin had already entered the first stage of infatuation—her eyes were shining. "A dad like that is rare indeed."
"You can have it if you want it."
Class started, and Lin Yin returned to the classroom.
"You said it—you can't go back on your word!"
"Yes, yes, there's no going back."
But that requires Lin Rui's consent.
As Lin Yin thought this, she couldn't help but smile smugly to herself.
