Judgment from Hell: Yuan Chonghuan

The ghosts in Hell began their raucous shouts again, their resentment filling the air and causing chaos throughout the hell. The Ten Kings of Hell were deeply worried

. They gathered to discuss countermeasures. If the Eastern Peak Emperor and the Five Ghost Emperors found out, they would surely criticize their incompetence. The last time they had such a tantrum was when Sun Wukong displayed his divine power. Time is a strange thing; it easily makes people forget, making them forget how comfortable peaceful days were.

Seeing this, King Yama had no choice but to suppress them with violence, forbidding them from shouting anymore. So he summoned Chief Judge Cui Fujun, Zhong Kui, Black and White Impermanence, Ox-Head and Horse-Face, Meng Po, and others to cast various spells—some strangling, some whipping souls, and others force-feeding Meng Po soup to make them lose their memories.

The resentment and cries from hell did not diminish but rather intensified, the situation becoming counterproductive. The ghosts' resentment grew stronger, and their cries louder, directly shocking the Heavenly Court.

The Jade Emperor hurriedly sent people down to hell to inquire what was happening. Afterwards, they reported back to the Jade Emperor, who suggested to Yama, the King of Hell, that they seek out Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

Yama obeyed the Jade Emperor's decree and brought forth Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, who governs all the ghosts of the underworld, ensuring that people no longer commit evil deeds and are no longer condemned to suffer in hell. He had previously admonished all ghosts that even if they had committed wrongdoings in their previous lives, if they sincerely repented and reformed, their sins could be mitigated, and they could be spared from all torment.

The Ten Kings of Hell, filled with anxiety, all arrived at the abode of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva. Faced with their earnest invitation, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva knew he could not refuse, so he said, "If I don't go to hell, who will?"

Finally, the Kings of Hell and Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva came together to the Hall of Hell. Facing the surging resentment of the numerous ghosts

, he chanted incantations. The ghosts in the hall stopped their wailing and crying, listened quietly, and then their souls flew back to their original places. The situation finally calmed down. To thank Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva for his help, the Ten Kings of Hell began to arrange a banquet, inviting the Eastern Peak Emperor and the Five Ghost Emperors to drink, slaughtering cattle and horses, offering sacrifices to heaven and earth, and inviting Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva as an honored guest. The chief judges were seated in two rows.

The numerous ghost messengers cheered and jumped for joy. The Kings of Hell also asked the City God of the Western Regions to abduct several more women from the Western Regions to dance and sing in celebration.

After drinking three rounds of wine, King Yama, seeing that the atmosphere was quite pleasant, rose first to toast everyone, holding a goblet and saying, "Today, I am fortunate to have invited Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva to appease the ghosts and subdue them. To express my gratitude for Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's great kindness, I have specially requested the City God from the Western Regions to bring several women from there. I've heard they are skilled dancers; please enjoy their performance with us, fellow Kings of the Underworld. I'll drink first as a sign of respect!"

King Yama gave a wink, and those around him understood. Soon, the musicians behind the reed curtains began to play music with strange, alluring rhythms, a seductive and bewitching style unlike anything they had ever heard before, causing their hearts to race.

Just then, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, who was enjoying the music, squinted his eyes and suddenly saw a dozen or so beautiful women gracefully dancing out from behind a curtain. These must be the women from the Western Regions that King Yama had mentioned.

The Western Region beauties were dressed quite differently from the celestial women. They wore blue emerald green blouses, pleated skirts with scattered floral patterns and misty green grass, and draped in pale blue emerald green gauze. Their tops were sleeveless, revealing nothing at the waist, and their skirts were extremely short, exposing their arms and legs. They even twisted their alluring bellies, revealing their snow-white skin, which was dazzling to the eye. Even more captivating were their strange dances under the brightly lit, multicolored lanterns. Their head-swaying, foot-lifting, waist-twisting movements exuded a hot, youthful, healthy, and bewitching charm, completely different from the dances of the celestial realm. It truly mesmerized Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

At times, it caused the Adam's apples to bob among the Eastern Peak Emperors and the Five Ghost Emperors; at other times, it made Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's heart race. Yama, the King of Hell, merely watched with a smile, while Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was speechless and dumbfounded.

After the dance, the women from the Western Regions went to the sides of the various Kings of the Underworld and the Five Ghost Emperors. King Yama then ordered the woman from the Western Regions sitting next to Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva to pour him wine.

The woman from the Western Regions knelt beside Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, pouring wine and urging him to drink, while a sweet and cloying fragrance wafted into Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's nose, making him almost forget his own name.

King Yama, observing this, deliberately smiled and said, "Today, thanks to the help of Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, if you don't mind, I intend to give this woman to you."

Startled, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha quickly waved his hand, saying, "No, no! I have long since entered the monastic life. How can a monk be entangled with worldly beauty? As the saying goes, emptiness is form, and form is emptiness. I appreciate King Yama's kindness."

Despite his words, King Yama still smiled, but the woman poured more wine and offered it to Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha's lips, smiling as she said, "Please, Bodhisattva." Her voice was alluring and captivating, capable of piercing the soul. Startled, Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha quickly accepted the wine and drank it all in one gulp.

Meanwhile, Yuan Chonghuan was ordered by Emperor Chongzhen to be taken to the West Market in Beijing for execution. He was dressed in white prison clothes, with two heavy chains on his feet and a wooden yoke around his neck. The people of the capital flocked out to watch, shouting curses against Governor Yuan for treason and collusion with the enemy. Not a single person spoke up for him, and Yuan Chonghuan felt a pang of sorrow.

The banquet in the underworld continued, until everyone was thoroughly drunk, each embracing a woman from the Western Regions and indulging in illicit relations. Gradually, their actions became obscene, their desires intoxicated. Soon, Yama, the King of Hell, watched the Eastern Peak Emperor and the Five Ghost Emperors depart, then ordered the judges to reward the chief officials.

At that time, Yuan Chonghuan's wronged soul was escorted to the underworld by Ox-Head and Horse-Face. His hair was disheveled, and he staggered along until he reached the edge of a city. Two ghostly guards suddenly stopped, standing respectfully. Yuan Chonghuan looked up and saw an iron plaque on the city wall with three large characters: "The Underworld." He couldn't help but sigh softly.

When Yuan Chonghuan entered the Hall of Yama and met King Yama, he was utterly dumbfounded, thinking the ghost messengers had taken him to the wrong place. Before him lay a magnificent palace, where a banquet was drawing to a close. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva was embracing a woman, his hands caressing and kneading her breasts. As the atmosphere deepened, the woman from the Western Regions began to moan softly.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's lustful eyes gleamed. He swiftly tore open the woman's clothing, revealing her dark, glossy bosom and a locally embroidered undergarment. His gaze was fixed on her, his Adam's apple bobbing.

The exotic woman's charming smile, in Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva's eyes, exuded an unusually strong sexual allure. He couldn't help but lean down, his face close to the woman's bosom, his hands slipping inside the undergarment, one hand trembling as he caressed her tender breasts—so soft, so firm. Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva wished he could press his entire body against the woman's chest.

At that moment, the woman stiffened; she was facing the gates of the Yama King's palace and saw a disheveled man in white being escorted there by two ghost messengers.

Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva quickly realized what was happening and felt a surge of anger, blaming Yama King's subordinates for their incompetence. Even so, he maintained a composed expression. His keen senses allowed him to spot the very culprit who had enraged the wronged ghosts that day. His eyes sharpened, he straightened his clothes, clasped his hands together, and calmly murmured, "Amitabha, Amitabha, good, good."

Beside Yama King, seated on his high throne, were two pleasing women. The woman on the right was bare-breasted, while a maidservant on the right was performing oral sex on him. King Yama's breathing quickened, and he involuntarily pinched one of the women's breasts. The woman winced in pain but dared not speak, her face still bearing a fawning smile.

Yuan Chonghuan was naturally stunned, thinking he had come to the wrong place—hell was actually a brothel on earth! He gasped in shock. He had almost tripped on the threshold upon entering, and this small movement naturally alerted King Yama, whose face was stern.

King Yama asked, "Yuan Chonghuan, do you know your crime?"

"What crime have I committed?" Yuan Chonghuan retorted. "

How dare you! In the underworld, how dare you be so insolent! Guards, bring Yuan Chonghuan and give him a hundred lashes!"

Yuan Chonghuan was pinned to the ground, his hands and feet clamped between wooden boards by the jailers, unable to move. He endured the hundred lashes without crying out.

"Your Majesty will give you one more chance. Do you know your crime?" "I , Yuan,

do not know what crime I have committed?"

"How dare you! You have trespassed into the Hall of Yama, unaware that I am about to indulge in pleasure. How can you ruin such a joyous occasion? Such behavior is hardly that of a student of Confucius. Confucius said: 'Do not look at what is improper, do not listen to what is improper, do not speak what is improper, do not do what is improper.' You have violated the first two." Yuan

Chonghuan snorted coldly.

"Hmph, you still dare to be stubborn? Look at the miserable state you will suffer after death before you speak." With that, Yama waved his finger. Instantly, a compass-like circle appeared before Yuan Chonghuan's eyes, continuously displaying images.

These images depicted the moment Yuan Chonghuan was beheaded at the Meridian Gate, with the onlookers jeering and clamoring, wishing they could personally behead him.

The executioner's blade flashed like lightning, and Yuan Chonghuan was beheaded before he could even close his eyes. This was his last look at the world, at the land he had shed his blood for.

Then, in a time portal, Yuan Chonghuan saw his body being sliced into pieces by the executioner, and the people of the capital rushing to buy raw food.
