Road To Perdition

Prologue:
The Birth of the Monster (

Chapter 0-0)

In the end, love is the only thing that counts…

“…what I am trying to say: in the end, love is the only thing
that counts. You see that girl. I love her since I was 7 years old.
We've never been apart, not a single day. And I will love her for all
my days. And that's all that counts. It's all that ever counts. All
of my heart…forever…”

—from “ally mcbeal”

Rick had forgotten when it all began. Six years old? Seven years old? But he still remembered the first day he saw her
.

Just as the teacher told him that he was assigned to sit next to her, she walked in. The morning sunlight shone through the window onto
the floor, and she walked towards him in the sunlight. Rick stared at her without moving, at her eyes, her
lips , her dark hair.

She quickly noticed his burning gaze, and after a moment of eye contact, a look flashed in her eyes
that Rick still didn't understand. As if in protest, she turned her head to the side, pretending not
to see him. Sunlight shone on her face, and in that instant, in Rick's eyes, her face—no, her entire being
—radiated a dazzling light. And in that instant, Rick felt a voice within him say: This is the
love of my life.

They quickly became inseparable friends. She told him she wouldn't marry and would be a strong woman; he told her
he would pursue true freedom; she said one must be magnanimous; he said there are always shortcuts to success. When
they disagreed, she always acted
like the protagonist in one of the four great classical novels of the Empire, "My Savage Woman." Rick didn't feel pain from her punches; on the contrary, it was their
only open physical contact in this feudal era.

Yet their unusually intimate behavior still attracted attention. Gossip
roamed like ghosts in that season. Gradually, they stopped speaking to each other. To this day, Rick still doesn't understand what drove
them further and further apart. God had bound them together, letting them grow up together. Their bodies were close,
yet their hearts grew ever more distant.

Of course, Rick didn't want to avoid changing it all. In his final years at the academy, Rick tried to hold onto
the only person he truly cared about in his life, but fate had forced him to leave the Empire, the land where he and she had grown up together…

The ground trembled, and Rick knew this was a large-scale
cover , to prevent the Kuma people from discerning the direction of their main attack.

The war between the elven allied forces and the Kuma Empire, which had raged for 27 days, had reached a critical juncture.
Three days ago , when Rick and his group set off, the vanguard of the elven allied forces' 3rd Cavalry Division had already reached
the largest magic teleportation site in the western suburbs of the Kuma capital, Grinda—the Mothersain Teleportation Site. Now, a steady stream of allied troops was infiltrating Grinda through this now-
renamed largest magic teleportation site in the Kuma Empire.

Time was running out, Rick thought. He had already spent a day and a night in the sewers. Fortunately,
the fastidious Kuma dictator Musaiin managed to clean his sewers quite thoroughly, sparing Rick much
suffering.

This labyrinthine sewer system lay beneath Musaiin's seventh secret palace. Rick's Squirrel
Special Assault Team, Third Squadron, was assigned there. Meanwhile, 17 other similar Allied special forces units were
dispatched to Musaiin's other 13 palaces in Grinda to carry out the same operation: to find, kill, or
capture Kuma's ruler—the 30-year-old tyrannical dictator "Musaiin Houlin."

Rick clutched the magical teleportation scroll in his arms, his last resort for escaping. However, this
expensive scroll was utterly useless here. The air in Grinda was thick with spatial
magic interference elements—a special treatment bestowed upon Grinda by the Allied air forces from the very first day of the war. He
was trying to follow the map to the only place in the palace unaffected by spatial magic—the main underground council chamber of the Seventh Secret Palace, built of interference-resistant green crystal, the original emergency evacuation point for the Squirrel Special Assault
Team Third Squadron.

The sounds of large troops passing by above occasionally drifted through the drainpipes. "Good damn
it," Rick cursed the chief elder of the Allied Central Intelligence Command inwardly.
No intelligence had been given to the Third Squadron indicating that so many troops were stationed at this palace.
The Allied Command hadn't even considered attacking this small palace, rumored to be a secret lover's residence for Mother Sain.
Only as a precaution, and actually to prepare for future hearings in the Elder Council, had the Squirrel Special
Assault Team's Third Squadron been deployed for "tactical reconnaissance."

"Now I've become the only hero in the Allied Forces who knows where Mother Sain is?" Rick
thought .

Two days ago, the Third Squadron spotted Musaying on the palace balcony. The inexperienced, hot-headed
squadron leader, without even signaling headquarters, charged towards Musaying, followed closely by his 37
teammates .

As the sole member of the squadron's sniper and assassination team, despite a strong sense of foreboding, Rick fired three arrows at Musaying
without hesitation. There was no time to cast spells. He could only hope that Musaying
was, as rumored, a womanizer and a drunkard. However, reality quickly shattered Rick's illusions.
A nightmare began to unfold.

Musaying waved her hand, seemingly to stop those around her. Then, just as the leading
commander was only 30 yards away from Musaying, he abruptly stopped, his body contorted into an extremely eerie posture,
standing motionless in the setting sun.

The team members behind him were filled with doubt and uncertainty at the sudden change, but their rigorous training and
brutal combat experience left them unhindered as they charged towards Musa Ying at top speed. 35 yards, 32
yards, a flash of light—no, a burst of light—and the two leading team members fell at the feet of their former
commander (an officer who intentionally kills or wounds friendly forces in battle is immediately dismissed and may be executed on the spot—
Article 7, Section 13 of the Elven Federation Military Emergency Law).

Rick's heart clenched. His two battle-hardened teammates were definitely
wary , but no one expected his blade to come so fast, almost three
times faster than the usual speed of this reckless commander. The atmosphere shifted from tense to eerie. The four closest to him stopped and stared intently at him, while the others didn't even
turn their heads, charging straight towards Musa Ying.

"Is this the quality of the Elven special forces?" The short, middle-aged man standing in the shadows of the balcony
frowned.

Another flash of light appeared, and Linkle Lester, one of the four surrounding the former commander, suddenly realized strangely that
he could see his own neck. This was, of course, his last breath as an elf.

The two team members closest to Musain, who were charging forward, were suddenly thrown backward without warning. Rick didn't even look
before falling backward, knowing perfectly well that the culprits who had knocked his two teammates away were undoubtedly two of the three arrows he had just
fired . A flash of black light, and the missing third arrow flew past the spot where he had just stood. The shouts of battle
gradually subsided, leaving only the heavy breathing of Philin Ben, the former commander of the Third Squadron of the Squirrel Special Assault Team.
Only one left.

Chapter 0-1 " All roads lead to Rome." —Excerpt from "Famous Quotes from Prehistoric Literature" The stench of the dark, silent sewers

was overwhelming. Aside from the quiet sound of flowing water, Rick could only hear his own heavy breathing. And this breathing pulled his thoughts back to that nightmarish day. Former commander of the Third Company, Philin Ben, was approaching Rick's hiding place step by step, his eyes, no longer human, filled with a bloodthirsty crimson. He toyed with the last severed head as he walked. Rick clearly recognized it as the head of his teammate Buck, the Buck who had discussed with him yesterday returning to teach in the Milisau Forest after the war . But now, Rick felt no grief for his teammates' deaths, nor any burning desire for revenge against the enemy. His mind was filled only with the simplest human emotion—fear, an irresistible fear of the unknown. He instinctively sensed that the being occupying Felin's body was neither an elf nor a human, not a demon. It wasn't any race that existed on the continent. Just as Felin saw Rick's face contorted with fear, "Boom!" A cluster of ice bombs dropped by the Allied forces landed in the plaza in front of the Seventh Palace . The anti-aircraft magic cannons in the plaza and their users were instantly reduced to shattered ice sculptures before they could even register their next thought. A commotion clearly came from the direction of the balcony . In that instant, Rick saw Felin's demonic, blood-red eyes suddenly regain their clarity. Then, the tall Felin collapsed limply as if he had lost his spine. In the next few seconds, all could do was gasp for breath, staring intently at the motionless Felin. Just as Rick was about to get up, Felin, who seemed dead, suddenly raised his head, his withered left hand tightly gripping the still trembling Rick. His now clear eyes were fixed on Rick, and he said, word by word, "You must...escape...out." Each word seemed to drain all his strength. After speaking, his body went limp again, and he murmured incoherently, "It wasn't me...it wasn't me...it was that thing...that thing...I saw a monster...a monster..." His voice slowly faded. Not far away, the distinctive howl of a hellhound echoed. "Is it all over?" Rick felt completely paralyzed. A voice seemed to be saying in his mind, "Give up, give up... You can't succeed. You joined the army just to die. You've already lost her, what's the point of living? Give up, give up..." "Her? Yes, her. I can't die, I have to live. I will see her again, I will..." Rick suddenly sat up, pulled a magic scroll from the commander's pocket, and reached for the nearest sewer . "Damn it," Rick muttered a curse in Elvish. This was the seventh time he had gone to the wrong exit , and he couldn't help but feel a sense of despair. He had run out of his rations. Due to interference from spatial magic elements, he couldn't contact the Allied Forces headquarters. His stamina was rapidly decreasing. All were a four-elemental combination attack magic circle and a magic amplification magic circle. The magic circle is a branch of magical science that has emerged in the last 20 years. Originating in the former leading magical power, the " United Nations ," it is now applied to almost all branches of magic. Its widespread adoption stems from its boundless flexibility. Anyone can design a magic circle with the desired function using any advanced magical language. The function, efficacy, and side effects of each magic circle can be altered at any time. The magic circle has sparked a magical revolution. Humans have been the most affected. In the past, human mages were far inferior to the naturally gifted elves and demons in terms of magical power concentration, control of magical effects, and application of magic. Now, thanks to humanity's unique learning ability and perseverance, magic circles have fundamentally developed and advanced human magical abilities, bringing them to a level almost comparable to that of the elves. Of course, due to the elves' innate talent and centuries of accumulated magical research, and because the elves, who invented magic circles, have always mastered the core principles and the most advanced magic circles, coupled with the fact that magical talents from all over the continent are willing to study and live in the elven realm, the most advanced and open magical civilization, the Elven Federation naturally became the most advanced magical nation. Interestingly, because designing and programming magic circles is an extremely tedious and arduous task, therefore...

Those who work in this field are mostly diligent and hardworking humans and a branch of lower-level dark elves—the "Caiyin
Elves ." Rick graduated from the prestigious "Jianzhou Magic Academy" of the United States' "Green Leaf Alliance," majoring in magic circles.

Rick has always been very confident in his abilities with magic circles. It's not that he scores high on his magic circle theory
exams , but rather that the magic circles he designs and writes are often the most effective, the most flexible, the most
creative, and also the most dangerous.

Once, when Rick's mentor, the renowned Archmage Turing Sean, was reviewing Rick's graduation project,
the Magic Condensation Amplification Magic Array, in front of the whole class, he exclaimed at the design that used the brainwave reaction of the fear of death to maximize
the energy : "This is
a devilish design that only someone who has lost faith in any living being and despairs of life itself could come up with. I can't imagine any living being coming up with this method." "

Living being, humph!" Rick chuckled self-deprecatingly, "I died on that very day."
Yet, just the day before, he had been so terrified when facing Mother Sain. Humans are truly complex and insignificant creatures.

Several beams of green light shot down from above, and Rick felt a surge of excitement, knowing he had found
his destination. With the two magic arrays ready to be activated, Rick nimbly slipped into the pipe like a cat.
The pipe wasn't long, and the green crystal part in the upper half was clearly
the work of those ungrateful fellows from the Westfa Forest. Those whiny anti-war elves, who were so vocal before the battle, are now
jumping out . The sight of those pleasure-seeking Cifer elves is nauseating, but thankfully, Rick's
stomach is empty.

"You mean my statue!" A voice from not far above made Rick's stomach churn again.
Fear doesn't care if you're a dragon-slaying hero or a coward who dares not confess to your crush; you never know
when it will bite you. This familiar voice
had echoed countless times from the resonant crystal during the pre-operation intelligence analysis meeting. And now, the real one was right here. This gave Rick a sense of unreality.
Yes, the voice belonged to the Allied Forces' number one enemy—Mosain Houlin, the first queen of the Kuma Empire.

(Chapter 0-2

) Yago said, taking off a glove and extending a damp, cold hand. "Auf Wiedersehen,
Colonel Henry. If I have done you any favors, I only ask this of you. Wherever you go
in the future , remember that war has two sides, and there are some decent people on both sides."

—from "The Winds of War" by Herman Wouk.

Musain Hounin, a name that commands immense prestige throughout the Qumar Empire and indeed in all countries that adhere to
the Bara religion.

As the first emperor to establish a new dynasty, Musain's origins were not as illustrious as those of
the emperors . The son of a shepherd, Musain received no formal education in his childhood.
The treachery and intrigue within his tribe instilled in him a worldview of survival of the fittest.

At the age of 15, he took up a sword and joined an underground organization opposing the imperial system; he knew
what it was like to be on the enemy's gallows. He once attempted to assassinate the then-head of state—one of his former dictators.
After his failure, he went into exile. After returning to Kumar, he embarked on a long but unstoppable path to power, eventually seizing control
of Grinda.

How could someone like him, lacking both strength and a powerful backer, survive so many
conspiracies ultimately seize power? It remains a mystery. And this
enigmatic figure is now unleashing a furious rage less than a hundred yards above Rick's head.

"You said those lowly people pulled down my statue? They have some nerve!" Mother Sain's voice
trembled. "How dare these swine do such a thing?"

"That's because they treat you the way you treat them," a calm yet
gentle voice came from the west side of the hall. Rick
couldn't help but feel curious about this woman, who dared to speak to this legendary, ruthless dictator.

Rick silently drew his sniper bow, trying to gauge the situation in the hall.

Besides the standard functions of a regular UN-issue sniper bow, the elven special forces' sniper bow can also
transform into an elven melee weapon—a curved scimitar: a
weapon resembling a scimitar but swung upwards for attack. Furthermore, all weapons produced in the last 20 years have been incorporating a magic circle activation device—
Siliconite.

Almost every crystal possesses a unique function. Siliconite itself has no magical amplification function; it doesn't
even react to magic applied to it. However, it can simultaneously transmit magical elements of different natures.
This makes it the core crystal for generating magic circles. Of course, it alone cannot generate a magic circle; it
needs to with a series of crystals,
including a ruby to store magic, a sapphire to memorize and read magic circles, and an amethyst to read or cast magic circles, to form a magic circle system.

Rick lightly touched the amethyst on the bow handle, silently activating a magic circle.
This was a reconnaissance magic circle, designed by Rick himself. It utilizes the three elements of wind, light, and water.
First, the water element condenses into tiny droplets invisible to the naked eye. Then, the wind element arranges these extremely light droplets into
a series of positions. Finally, the light element, with its straight-line travel and refraction properties, refracts the external scene into
the observer 's eyes. This is an extremely complex magical process. Before the invention of magic circles, even archmages
could not cast this spell, which consumed negligible amounts of magic power. But magic circles changed everything.

Rick won first prize in the second
-year . It was also because of this that Rick was able to be selected so easily for the highly competitive special forces.

The images transmitted from the magic circle were very clear, probably because the underground water vapor in this area was very high, resulting in high humidity.

This was a hall built entirely of interference-resistant green crystal. To the east stood a
statue , holding a sword in one hand and the Ba'a Bible in the other. Seated on the throne beneath the statue was none other than the Imperial Emperor Mother
Sain Houlin himself. The 57-year-old dictator looked tired, trembling, and wore a pair of black goggles on his swollen face
. It is said that Musain would never remove those black goggles, no matter the circumstances.

The dictator, with his long hair and flowing white robe, wore a
ring , exuding an air of authority. If he weren't wearing his black goggles, he would resemble an
elven priest, still hungover and about to preach on Sunday.

Standing on the west side of the hall was a tall woman. Due to the distance and the fact that her long hair
obscured half her face, her features were not clearly visible. However, her black Kuma traditional high-waisted dress perfectly
accentuated her graceful figure. The glimpse of white skin peeking out from beneath the black dress seemed capable of
captivating any man in the world.

She must be the mistress of this place, Musain's unknown mistress. Rick noticed a
detail : a pair of pointed horns peeked out from within the woman's beautiful long hair. Musain's most beloved woman was an
elf! This could probably make the headlines of any elven magic news website.

"You worthless trash! Where is the Imperial Guard, the Grinda Legion? Why didn't you suppress the rioters?" Musain
roared at an officer kneeling on the ground, huddled in a ball.

"Your Majesty... the Grinda Legion... was... completely... annihilated two days ago,"
the officer stammered.

"And the Musain Guard?"

"They've all... escaped."

Musain's body trembled, not from fear, but from extreme rage.

"You worthless trash, cowards, traitors, those who betrayed me will all go to hell!" With that, he raised
his hand, the ring on his finger emitting a strange light. The officer huddled on the ground was now airborne, his hands
gripping his neck tightly, as if trying to tear his skin apart; bloodstains appeared on his neck.

Gradually, his legs stopped thrashing about. Musain waved his hand, and the man's body went limp to the ground
like .

"I will kill all the traitors! I will use my 'Voice That Reaches Ten Thousand Miles' to kill those traitors and those foolish
elves !" Musaiin screamed hysterically.

"Father, haven't you committed enough sins? Do you want to kill all the people of Grindar? Please, please
, stop... stop..." the woman in black cried out to Musaiin.

Musaiin's daughter was an elf, so Musaiin... Rick stared at Musaiin with suspicion.

"Melin, look into my eyes. Even you will betray me?" The Emperor slowly removed his blindfold,
revealing the deep blue eyes characteristic of elves.

Author's Note:

Finally, a female character appears in this chapter! Everyone, are you excited? But things shouldn't be rushed; relationships need to
develop slowly to be interesting. Also, please feel free to point out any errors; I will revise accordingly.

Chapters 0-3

"I have this idea about why people do the terrible things they
do. Same reason little kids push each other on the schoolyard. If you
are the one doing pushing, then you are not the one who gets pushed…
If you are the monster, then nothing will be waiting in the shadows to
jump out at you. It's pretty simple really. People do the terrible things
they do because they are scared."

—from Steven Spielberg's "taken"

The term "elf," as a general term for a race, has a very broad definition. Based on appearance,
it includes the evil dark elf (or drow), the mischievous goblin
, the faerie with
butterfly …

Some even believe that the demon race, with appearances as handsome as elves, is a legendary type of elf—the
daemon. But for most humans, the word "elf" first conjures images of light elves, resembling
humans with pointed ears, beautiful and long-lived.

They generally live in forests, love nature, are emotionally sensitive, knowledgeable, and highly
gifted ; their vision is twice that of humans in dim light, thus granting them superb archery skills. Among elves,
they are the most numerous and have established the most powerful nations. Besides the common elf characteristic of pointed ears,
their is their pair of deep blue eyes, so different from humans.

Now, the elven world's greatest enemy—Emperor Musain I of the Baa Empire—is
staring intently with his piercing deep blue eyes at the elven woman standing below the steps, his only remaining family in this world
—Meilin Houning.

"Father, how many more people will you kill? Are you going to kill me too? Then do it!" Meilin
stares defiantly at her trembling father.

"You...you're still my daughter? You're just like that slut your mother...you're
just like , you all betrayed me! Fine, fine, then die...I'll use my 'Voice Reaching Ten Thousand Miles'
to wipe you all out...slaughter all you traitors..." The Emperor roared like a madman.

"Come here, kill me! Kill me like you killed my mother! Why are you
trembling? Do it! You coward, you don't even have the courage to kill me with your own hands! The people you rule
never doubt your authority, your lackeys never dare to disobey your orders. Haha...ha...how
ridiculous...they would never have imagined you were such a coward, a wimp...haha..." Due to
extreme anger, the elf's distinctive pointed ears stood up from her silky black hair.

"Because your mother eloped with someone, she betrayed me, so I killed her. She abandoned us first
. Are you going to betray me like her now? Meilin, you are my last remaining family in the world, I don't
want to lose you again." Mother Saiying's tone suddenly softened.

"Family, humph, family, do you know how much your mother loved you? She prayed for you three times every night
before going to bed, she eloped with someone... Haha... Are you going to use such lies to deceive the only
daughter you thought you knew? Father, you weren't like this before, you used to love Mother and me so much. How did you
become like this? When did it start? Right, it was that day, everything started from that day,
everything . Ever since you brought 'it' back, everything has changed..."

"Enough... Shut up... Your mother knew something she shouldn't have known, she must die, everyone
who stands in my way must die, and your mother can't stop me either. No one can stop me..." Mother
Saiying screamed madly.

"What else do you want? Everything went so smoothly after you got 'it,' you gained this
empire , what more do you want?"

"You understand nothing, you know nothing, you've never seen the power of 'them,' you
'll never understand. I will use 'Sound Reaching Ten Thousand Miles' to kill you all." The emperor suddenly seemed terrified, as if recalling something
horrific .

"Sound Reaching Ten Thousand Miles!" Rick shuddered.

In the year 2945 of the Elven calendar, 30 years after the invention of magic circles, in
the small town , Archmage Oppenheimer, with the full support of the military, led over a hundred of the most outstanding
mages of the time to research a method combining magic circles with forbidden magic, and successfully conducted a field
experiment.

Theoretically, any magic can be combined with any magic circle, but forbidden magic, due to its inherently
powerful magical energy, would cause the crystal,
the medium . Therefore, the practical bottleneck in combining magic circles with forbidden magic
lay in finding a suitable magic transfer crystal.

After tens of thousands of failures, Oppenheimer finally discovered a
suitable . Green crystal itself possesses extremely strong anti-magic properties, which is
why it was used as the primary material for constructing objects resistant to magical interference.

However, Oppenheimer discovered that when green crystal accumulated to a certain amount,
injecting into it caused a mutation, releasing energy a hundred times greater than the injected forbidden spell's power, which then acted upon
the magic circle.

Later textbooks called this phenomenon the "green crystal aggregation effect." Its power can be
seen from Oppenheimer's experiments. Oppenheimer used the forbidden spell "Doomsday Wilderness" on a specially designed green crystal magic circle. The
result was a "sea" nearly a thousand miles in circumference. From then on, the "Dead Sea" desert became a true Dead Sea.

Compared to the highly comical result of Oppenheimer's experiment, the second application of this method
was less glorious. The Elven Federation used
a .

The direct consequences were the deaths of nearly 400,000 Great Tongue Demons and the disappearance of Dajing from the maps of various nations.
This led to a rush among nations to develop their own forbidden magic circles. However, due to the excessive power of these "forbidden circles" (short for forbidden magic circles)
, which could potentially harm themselves, nations jointly signed an agreement prohibiting their development.

The main reason the Elven Federation launched its war against Kuma was that Kuma possessed forbidden magic circles
but refused join the "Convention Prohibiting Experimentation with Forbidden Magic Circles." Coupled with the Kuma Empire's tyrannical ruler,
the other nations had no grounds for complaint against the Elven Federation's actions.

"What did you see that day? What made you like this, Father?
What are you afraid of? Tell me, what did you see?" Meilin cried out to her father, her voice hoarse.

"Is this all you want to know? You betrayed me just to know this? Fine, look into my eyes,
you'll know, look into my eyes, Melin, look at me…" Musaiin's eyes gleamed with an eerie
light .

"Ah, no… ah… uh… uh… ah… no… no…" Melin screamed in agony, staring into her
father eyes.

"All your memories play at once. All your memories
and all your fears." She curled up on the ground as if possessed, repeating this ancient Elvish
phrase over and over.

"All your memories play at once. All your memories and all your
fears." Rick couldn't help but whisper the meaning of this ancient Elvish phrase.

"Who is it? Who is there?" Musaiin clearly heard Rick's whisper.

Oh no, Musain has discovered him! Even worse, Rick has noticed the air elements in the air are starting to stir
; the forbidden magic circle "Sound Reaching Ten Thousand Miles" has clearly been activated.

Chapter 0-4

"All your memories play at once. All your memories and all your
fears."

—from Steven Spielberg's "Taken"

"But in the end, love is only something that counts."

—from "ally McBeal"

Large beads of sweat streamed down Hou Ning's third son's face. This was already the seventh day since entering the Sinai Desert
.

Since his failed assassination attempt on the Kuma Empire's Emperor Slin III and his escape here, Musain hadn't had a good
night's sleep or a proper meal. The Sinai Desert was the only route from the Kuma Empire to the Elf World. As the head of the Kuma branch of the Central Intelligence Agency of the Elf
Union and the mastermind behind the assassination attempt on the Emperor, Musain was now only...
He was trying to escape to the world of spirits from this godforsaken desert.

All around him was nothing but yellow sand, and under the scorching sun, the endless desert was eerily silent.
The Indube people, who had lived in the desert for generations, had an ancient legend. When you travel alone in the Sinai Desert, you will see
the light of God, who will lead you to the land of eternal life. After passing God's test, you will receive an
eternal . Your life will be forever changed.

Musain had always held this pagan legend in utter contempt. It wasn't that he didn't believe in
the existence , but rather that he didn't believe any creature could pass God's test and leave this legend for posterity. Now, however, he
genuinely hoped the legend was true. Because, at least then he would have hope of survival.
He had run out of . He had also killed his milo (an animal capable of long journeys in the desert) three days ago to satisfy his hunger. For now
, Musain didn't want any of God's gifts, only a sip of water.

She could move no more. The desert night was so cold, and Musain's vision began to blur. Wait,
what's that light ahead? It wasn't firelight; it was a light brighter than the sun. Musain found even thinking
difficult.

It was getting brighter and brighter. Ah, was it my hallucination or the light of God? What was that… Ah,
no n't see anything, it's too bright… too bright…

In the capital city of the Elven Union, Abigail, a heavy thunderstorm was raging. Lightning flashed across the sky, illuminating
the window of an inconspicuous bungalow in the western part of the city.

A beautiful, black-haired female elf held a little girl who looked like she had been carved from a mold, murmuring:
"Don't be afraid, it's just lightning. Don't be afraid, your father will come back. He will come back soon. He
will, won't he?… Meilin!"

"Bang!" The door seemed to be blown open by a strong wind. A bolt of lightning flashed, illuminating a figure. That familiar
figure was her husband, the figure of her husband who had been missing for over a year. The female elf froze for a moment, then
threw herself into her husband's arms like an arrow.

"Ying, you're finally back! Where have you been all these past year... Meilin and I missed you so much... Why...
why aren't you saying anything..." She looked up at him, but his familiar yet unfamiliar eyes weren't looking at her,
nor at Meilin, but were fixed on a ring of some unknown material on the ring finger of his left hand.

"Ying, what's wrong? What happened? What did you see... Say something..." The female elf
shook him vigorously. The silent figure stared straight at his wife as if just waking up.

"All my love
and all my love," Mother Sa Ying Hou Ning said to his wife in a trembling voice.

*** *** *** ***

"All your memories play at once. All your memories and all your
fears."

The Emperor of the Kuma Empire silently repeated the words spoken by the young man standing in the center of the hall.

This young man was quite impressive. The four-elemental combination attack magic array that attacked him earlier was very creative,
much more interesting than those elven mages who only knew how to pursue power and might. He hadn't held back when he counterattacked,
and it was truly unexpected that the young man could still stubbornly get up
. He clearly sensed a spatial magic scroll on the young man, yet he didn't take the opportunity to escape. What a tenacious young man, just like himself back then. If only he had a
son like him.

"Huff... huff," Rick gasped for breath. This guy was too strong. He was
several his attack earlier was enough to take down a mage, yet the young man had managed to counterattack and knock him down. Now
only a magic amplification magic array remained. What to do, what to do… There’s not much time left
. “Sound Reaching Ten Thousand Miles” is about to be fully activated.

Calm down… calm down… there must be a way. Everything has its weakness, and sometimes its strongest point
is its fatal weakness. Musain’s strongest point is that strange ring. All
we need to do is separate the ring from him. But how? These thoughts flashed through Rick’s mind. As soon as he arrived at the
palace , Rick felt something was off. There was something unusual about this place. What was it?

Water, it was water. The entire palace had no ponds, no fountains. In this country where water was considered
a luxury , how could an emperor’s palace not have a pond? That’s it, Musain must be afraid of water
. His weakness is “water.” Rick couldn’t help but smile smugly.

A water dragon spell instantly materialized before Rick's eyes, its speed largely thanks to the magic amplification
array. The water dragon, without pause, swiftly attacked the Emperor himself, 30 meters away.

A cold smile appeared on Musayin's face. "That idiot thinks I'm afraid of water? Don't I drink water
? Ha.

What foolish humans!" Musayin smugly prepared to kill
Rick .

Just then, a sudden change occurred. The water dragon abruptly turned, grabbing the fallen Rose and rushing towards Musayin's
left .

If Musayin wanted to destroy the water dragon, she would inevitably have to injure Rose. Rick was now gambling.
If Musayin disregarded Rose—judging from their previous conversation, this was highly likely—then
dealing with Rick, already injured and having exhausted the magic array's energy, would be a piece of cake. It all depended on whether Musayin cared about
his only daughter.

Mother Sayin grinned maliciously, raising her left hand. The strange ring on her ring finger shone brightly;
it seemed she had made her choice. Rick closed his eyes in despair.

"Father," Rosewood, atop Water Dragon Peak, seemed to awaken, gazing at her father before her and calling out softly
.

*** *** *** ***

"Father!"

The man, standing motionless in the torrential rain, seemed to awaken from a millennium-long slumber. He looked down and saw a
little elf girl with black hair looking at him timidly.

"Daddy...?" the man murmured to himself. He turned to look at the ring on his left hand, then glanced at
his daughter. He stared into the little girl's eyes for what seemed like an eternity. Then, he released the woman in his arms, scooped the girl up tightly, and, holding his equally dazed wife's hand, walked into the darker, rainy night. *** *** *** *** The water dragon instantly approached Mother Sain's eerie left hand. The dazzling light dimmed abruptly. Mother Sain reached out her right hand and caught her daughter atop the water dragon's wave. In that instant, an elven-style curved blade silently swung upwards from the water curtain, flashing with light, accurately severing Mother Sain's left hand. Rick emerged from the water dragon, panting heavily. He had exhausted all his magical power maintaining his distant reflection and holding his breath while flying ; now even a child could kill him. Strangely, the mother, Sayin, who had lost her left hand, didn't make a sound, only quietly watching her daughter in her arms. Father and daughter gazed at each other silently. The left hand, adorned only with a ring, lay quietly beside Rick. Rick reached out his left hand towards 'it'... ********************************************************************** Author: to woodyx: Regarding the language issue, my setting is that humans use Chinese, modern Elvish uses English, and ancient Elvish uses a mixture of German, Latin, Italian, and other languages. Chapters 0-5 (Part 1) She is the moon and the sun to me. —from Steven Spielberg's "Taken" At 11:34 AM on April 9th, Year 13 of the Kuma New Calendar (Human time and calendar are the same as reality) , on the outskirts of the Imperial Capital Grinda, ten miles from the Royal Mother Sain Uprising Memorial Hall… A two-wheeled, two-seater carriage sped along the eleventh official road of the Empire. Lies, the chief bodyguard of the Mother Sain Guard, vigilantly observed his surroundings. He felt very tense, after all, he was now the only one protecting Her Majesty the Empress. This was the third time this month that Her Majesty the Empress had asked him to secretly take her out of the palace. Lies was certainly not foolish enough to believe that Her Majesty the Empress wanted to meet him secretly; everyone in the palace knew of Her Majesty 's loyalty to the Emperor. Oh… it can't be called loyalty, it's love. For a woman, only love could make a woman so blindly loyal, Lies thought to himself. So he agreed to the Empress's request ; loyalty to the Empress was loyalty to Musain. Lies noticed that the Empress had been unusually silent since leaving the Memorial Hall, but he wasn't too worried. He was puzzled by the dizziness he'd felt while guarding the Memorial Hall. As one of the Empire's strongest warriors, this dizziness was highly unusual for him. Fortunately, the Empress emerged unharmed. Perhaps it was the fault of that cursed Memorial Hall. Lies always felt extremely tense there. The Memorial Hall of Musain's Rebellion was built in the first year of the Kuma New Calendar, supervised by the Emperor himself. Legend had it that this hall, located in the middle of the desert, held a special significance for the Emperor unknown to outsiders; only members of the royal family were allowed to enter . Lies, as the head of the guards, had never been inside. The Emperor often went there to contemplate important matters, and at those times, only Lies stood guard at the entrance. The Empress remained silent. However, Liess didn't feel nervous; they were about to enter the city. Suddenly, Liess noticed a rider blocking the road. It was dark, and he couldn't see clearly. Liess stopped the carriage, gathering all his strength and becoming cautiously alert. The rider gradually approached the carriage, the candlelight reflecting off his face, making it appear unpredictable. Liess suddenly relaxed completely. He turned his head, intending to call out to the Empress in the back of the carriage. Suddenly, he noticed that the Empress was trembling all over . Liess found this very strange; this was Liess's last sensation. The Chief Imperial Guard, von Hein Liess, had never imagined that his last sensation would be strange. The Empress was trembling uncontrollably. When Liess's head rolled from the front to her feet, she seemed to suddenly wake up , cried out, jumped out of the carriage, and ran towards the back. The cry was so short and sharp, like the chirping of a chick . The rider's left hand twitched. The Empress immediately fell to the ground as if struck by an arrow, her body convulsing intermittently. The man dismounted, walked to the woman, gently lifted her head, and softly asked, "What did you see?" The woman suddenly seemed to gather all her strength and gripped the man tightly, her voice trembling as she said, "All my trembling could have been. All my trembling and all my trembling." The man seemed to sigh. "If this still means anything to you, I just want to say I'm sorry, things didn't have to be this way." Saying this, he looked up at the moon. "Clang..." When the man stood up and walked towards his mount, the woman on the ground had stopped convulsing. *** *** *** *** A man and his horse sped through the heavily guarded Forbidden City, but no one stopped them. The man rode to a tall tower, handed his mount to a guard, and quickly rode to the top. He removed his blindfold and gently pushed open a door. Moonlight streamed through the window, illuminating a twelve or thirteen-year-old girl—no, a little fairy—on the bed. The man suddenly felt a wave of dizziness, as if he had first seen her in the moonlight twenty years ago. The little fairy seemed to awaken; she rubbed her deep blue eyes and recognized him. "Daddy, what's wrong? Where's Mommy?"

The man composed himself, stepped forward, and picked up the little elf. He whispered, "Your mother...she...she's left us
."

"What did you say? Daddy, Daddy, where's Mommy? I want to see Mommy..." the little elf cried and screamed, as if
realizing something.

The man held her tightly, the moonlight illuminating his tear-streaked face. He
murmured softly, in a voice only he could hear,

"She is the moon and sun to me. Meilin, do you know, she is the moon
and sun to me..."

(Chapter 0-5, Middle)

"She is the moon and sun to me. Meilin...I never intended to hurt you or your mother
." After a moment of silence, Mother Sain looked at her daughter in her arms and said.

The earth trembled violently, but the large-scale earth magic used by the allied forces felt different.
Rick suddenly understood what the tremor meant.

"How many resonance points are there?" Rick shouted at Mother Sain.

"Twelve of you! None of you will escape Grinda within 24 minutes, you fools!"
Mother Sayin mocked Rick, her eyes never leaving her daughter.

"Sound Reaching Ten Thousand Miles," a third-generation forbidden magic circle, is an extremely powerful forbidden circle. It
ranks fourteenth among the forbidden circles prohibited in the "Convention Prohibiting Experiments with Forbidden Magic Circles." Unlike the number one "Nothingness" and
the "Hellfire" that destroyed the Great Capital, which indiscriminately destroy everything, "Sound Reaching Ten Thousand Miles" is a
forbidden circle that only kills living beings.

It was invented based on the principle of magical wave resonance. The founder of magical wave theory, Paul, pointed out that
any substance composed of elemental particles, no matter how hard,
can be disintegrated or even exploded if waves are used to cause the constantly moving particles to resonate together.

In the past, the biggest obstacle to this theory was that, if this assumption were true, why did the object never react
in numerous magical experiments when people affected it with the same frequency of magical elemental particles (such as earth element)? This obstacle disappeared after the advent of "forbidden arrays." The reason is that forbidden arrays can gather and release energy and energy fluctuations far greater than what humans can normally release. Magicians gradually understood that as long as there is enough energy to reach or exceed the energy threshold for binding particle resonance, the elemental particles will resonate and decompose . "Sound Reaching Thousands of Miles" utilizes this principle of magical wave resonance to decompose matter composed of magical elemental particles of a certain frequency over a large area. Humans and most living creatures on the continent have an . That is the main component of blood—water element. As long as the water element resonates, creatures within the affected area will explode and die, while other objects without water element substances will remain unharmed. A standard "Sound Reaching Thousands of Miles" magic circle only needs one resonance point to cover an area of 20 miles in radius; 12 resonance points are enough to cover the entire city of Grinda and its surrounding area. "Are you insane? You demon? You want to kill even your daughter?" Rick shouted at Musain while stealthily moving towards the severed hand. He was only inches away from the severed hand; as long as he got the mysterious ring, he wouldn't have to worry about Musain regaining her power. Rick thought to himself. "Stop! Don't touch 'it,' you'll regret it. Listen to me, young man, don't touch that ring. Take my daughter and leave immediately through the secret teleportation magic circle behind the main hall. In about twenty minutes, this place will become the center of resonance. All the water elements will decompose. Take my daughter and leave quickly!" Musain shouted Clearly, away from 'it,' he was just an ordinary old man. "No, Father, we must stop 'Sound Reaching Ten Thousand Miles'!" "It's no use. Once the barrier is activated, it can't be reversed. Mother Saying, even if you really want to die under 'Sound Reaching Ten Thousand Miles,' I won't spare you now," Rick said coldly. "No, don't hurt my father. He didn't do this on purpose," Meilin stood up and blocked her father's path . Rick hadn't seen clearly through his reconnaissance magic in the sewers, but after taking a closer look from just two zhang away from the elven beauty, he was struck by her presence. She was a young female elf, leaning against her father's shoulder. While her posture seemed natural to a mature human beauty, it was undeniably a bit flirtatious for an elf. She wore traditional Kuma clothing, a black, tight-fitting long dress that accentuated her slender and graceful figure. Beneath her skirt peeked out her small, exquisite feet, sculpted like marble. Over her long skirt, she wore a silk blouse with a heart-shaped opening at the front, revealing her ivory neck and upper chest. A purple rose adorned her hair, which was thick and black with a hint of blue. Her beauty was purely that of a purebred light elf: deep, beautiful eyes, a straight nose, coral lips, and pearly teeth—all unique to her kind. And to make matters worse, Meilin was in the prime of her youth, only nineteen or twenty years old. "Never touch 'it'! You saw what my father became. It will unleash your deepest, most hidden desires, and you will relentlessly pursue them. Look at what my father has become! He used to be such a good person!" Meilin's words snapped Ricka out of his daze. Rick wondered to himself, "I've seen beautiful women before, why am I so distracted? " "Fine, I won't wear it. But I have to take it with me." With that, Rick pulled the ring off his severed hand. "Stop!" "Don't touch it!" Mother Sain and her daughter shouted almost simultaneously. "What? You're trying to fool me? This thing is nothing!" Rick suddenly roared . At that moment, Mother Sain and Meilin almost simultaneously saw black liquid flowing through Rick's eyes, like black clouds moving across his pupils. Mother Sain shoved her daughter aside and turned to shout, "You go first, I'll hold him off..." Before she could finish speaking...

Completely, the person had already been sent flying, landing motionless several feet away. At this moment, Ric said nothing
, walking step by step towards the trembling Meilin.

Ric dragged Meilin, who was too frightened to speak, down. If you were Meilin at this moment, you could
clearly see Ric's entire face contorted, appearing indescribably ferocious and terrifying.

"Swish, swish..." In a few swift movements, Ric tore the elven beauty's long skirt and blouse to shreds. Then
he froze.

Was this a woman? Was she a virgin? Both. If it were
Mansalin , she should be smiling, but she was silently sobbing.

If it were Diana, she shouldn't be so careless; her beauty radiated unimaginable brilliance, and nothing could
be purer than this serene and proud figure. The untrodden snowfield was utterly unknowing.

This young elven woman's skin was as white as the snow-capped peaks of Mount Ronggefu in Sifa. From her carefree
brow, her disheveled long black hair, her drooping eyelashes, the faintly visible blue veins, her impossibly round
breasts, and the rose-colored hips and knees arched beneath her tattered clothes, one could almost see
the image of a fairy.

This pure white body seemed to radiate light; this naked spirit, like the goddess of Olympus,
knew she was the daughter of the abyss. This unattainable beauty lay there,
as proud as Venus sleeping on the boundless waves.

From Mother Sain's perspective, it was a strange sight: a
man panting like a wild beast stared motionlessly at a naked, trembling, terrified girl. They
gazed silently, their eyes locked, as if time had stood still…
