The Rich Young Master Dominates Hong Kong (Episodes 1-50)

Chapter 001, Qiao Jinfan Returns Home

Hong Kong is a bustling international metropolis, the world's third largest financial center after New York and London.
Located east of the Pearl River Estuary, it faces Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, across the Shenzhen River and borders the South China Sea. Before 1840
, Hong Kong was a small fishing village; from 1842 to 1997, it was a British colony.

After World War II, Hong Kong's economy and society developed rapidly, becoming a wealthy, developed
city with a high standard of living, and in the 1980s, it became one of the "Four Asian Tigers."

Hong Kong practices capitalism and is renowned for its clean government, good public security, free economic system, and
sound rule of law. Hong Kong is a center of East-West cultural exchange,
one of the safest, wealthiest, and most prosperous regions in the world, and an important international and Asia-Pacific economic, financial, and shipping hub and one of the most competitive
cities . Its economic freedom consistently ranks among the highest in the world, earning it the reputation of "Pearl of the Orient."

In February 1982, a Boeing 747, transiting through Singapore from the United States to Hong Kong, slowly soared
through the blue sky. At this time, the passengers were mostly foreigners, with relatively few Chinese. Some were sleeping,
some were reading, and some were whispering.

In first class, a handsome man of about twenty years old, wearing sunglasses, was reading a book titled *On the Morality and Cultivation of an Actor*, an indispensable part of
Stanislavski's grand vision for establishing an actor's creative system , and also the legendary book featured in Stephen Chow's famous film *King of Comedy*. At this moment, this simply dressed handsome man, while reading the book, thought to himself: "I've been in this world for two months now, and I still don't know... what kind of fun place !" Let me first introduce this man's identity: he is Qiao Jinfan, the twenty-year-old son of Qiao Jingyao, the tycoon of the renowned Qiao Group in Hong Kong . In places like Hong Kong, there are many super-rich people, but even more are reclusive tycoons who prefer not to show their faces. You only get to know such people when you reach a certain level of status. Even the most gossip reporters can't touch these wealthy individuals—especially the owners of these media outlets and magazines. Before you can even break their news, they've already fired you. For example, the owners of the Oriental Daily News are the Ma brothers, once as famous as the "Four Great Detectives." This family has a questionable past; they started by selling flour and running pornographic magazines before finally turning to newspapers. Now that they've "laundered" their past, they're extremely sensitive about anyone revealing anything about their family. So, through the Oriental Daily News, they've suppressed many unfavorable reports about themselves, making it almost impossible to find any news about their family. Qiao Jingyao is similar—but compared to the Ma family, his background is much more respectable. Born into poverty, he was quite ambitious. While working for a construction company, he discovered the lucrative real estate business at the time. So he borrowed 30,000 yuan and started a tile business, carrying tiles door-to-door to sell them. Through hard work and perseverance, he managed to build a small business. However, what truly propelled Qiao Jingyao into the ranks of Hong Kong's super-rich was his marriage to the daughter of film tycoon Lu Yuntao. Speaking of film tycoon Lu Yuntao, almost everyone in Hong Kong in the 1960s knew him, especially the story of his rivalry with Shaw Brothers for supremacy in Hong Kong. The competition between the "Shaw Brothers" and "Lu Yuntao's Cathay" in the 1950s and 60s, ostensibly a commercial contest between Hong Kong's two major Mandarin film companies, was in reality a continuation . From the 1960s onwards, Run Run Shaw and Lu Yuntao began their first round of competition in theater distribution in Singapore, Malaysia, and other places. Despite their different backgrounds, personalities, educational backgrounds, and experiences, they both built vast film businesses and developed their own unique management styles. Behind the commercial confrontation lay a clash of personalities and business philosophies. Run Run Shaw came from a traditional Chinese business family and received a traditional , deeply immersed in traditional Chinese values. He inherited the Shaw family's traditional business philosophies of pragmatism, flexibility, frugality, stability, and diligence. In his business dealings, he always maintained a focus on business, avoiding grandstanding and prioritizing profit maximization. Loke Wan Tao, however, had a completely different background from Run Run Shaw. Born received his secondary education in Switzerland and England. Loke Wan Tao was always passionate about art, history, film, and photography. Although he knew he was destined to work in the family business, he still pursued , earning a master's degree. He didn't speak Mandarin and usually communicated in English, having received relatively little exposure to traditional Chinese culture. He also possessed the habits of a British gentleman, such as birdwatching and playing golf , all of which shaped his "Westernized" characteristics. Therefore, Loke Wan Tao did not simply repeat his father's business path but instead chose . He subsequently established International Cinema Limited, Luk's Cinema Limited, and Cathay Cinema Limited, thus forming the Cathay Group , and embarking on a path of competition with Run Run Shaw. Luk Wan Tho's extensive Western background and aspirations for a modern lifestyle determined that his business philosophy would be completely different from the traditional Shaw Brothers' approach, leaning more towards modernization and fashion. In response to the Shaw Brothers ' aggressive expansion strategy, while competing with Run Run Shaw for screening resources, he focused on improving cinema facilities and enhancing the viewing experience, thus suppressing Shaw Brothers' development in the Hong Kong film industry and becoming the most promising of the two giants. Unfortunately, just as this dragon was about to take flight, during a sightseeing trip to Taiwan to attend the 11th Asian Film Festival , the plane carrying Luk Wan Tho and his wife, along with many high-ranking executives of the Cathay Group, exploded, killing all 57 people on board. This sudden tragedy dealt a heavy blow to the once-dominant Cathay Film Group, which never recovered . The accidental death of Loke Wan Tho deprived the Shaw Brothers of their strongest competitor, and indirectly created Shaw Tai-heng, the movie emperor who dominated the Hong Kong and even Asian Chinese film industry in the 1960s and 70s!

Returning to the point, as the son-in-law of film tycoon Loke Wan Tho, Qiao Jingyao rose to prominence overnight, not only inheriting the Loke
family's original business empire and possessing vast wealth in Malaysia and Singapore, but also owning
most of cinema chains.

Despite his wealth, Qiao Jingyao only had one son, Qiao Jinfan. When
Qiao Jingyao 's wife learned of her parents' deaths, she fainted on the spot and passed away a year later,
leaving behind the pitiful five-year-old Jinfan to depend on his father. Qiao Jingyao doted on the child, raising him like a prince
from , and three years ago sent him to study at Harvard University in the United States.

Qiao Jinfan was an ambitious man; after arriving in the United States, he studied diligently, determined to return
and inherit the family business. However, two months ago, he was somehow possessed.

As for the person who possessed him, his name was Zhang Feng. He was originally a struggling screenwriter in the 21st century,
but unexpectedly, he transmigrated into Qiao Jinfan's body while sleeping. Becoming a scion of a wealthy family and coming to bustling Hong Kong
was undeniably attractive to an ordinary person. Qiao Jinfan was about to finish his studies,
so the new Qiao Jinfan decided to return to Hong Kong.

Chapter 002, The Film Company

The massive Boeing 747 landed on the runway of Hong Kong Kai Tak Airport. After landing,
passengers disembarked with their luggage.

Qiao Jinfan carried his luggage from the United States—his wallet, passport, and some souvenirs. He had thrown away
his clothes in the US; he could buy them again upon his return.

After disembarking and walking out of the waiting hall, Qiao Jinfan quickly spotted his father
's secretary, Zhang, amidst the bustling crowd.

"Secretary Zhang!" Qiao Jinfan ran forward with a smile and said, "Hello!"

Secretary Zhang, in her thirties, had been with Qiao Jingyao for ten years and was quite familiar with the young master. She immediately smiled and said,
"Young Master, you're finally back! The master is waiting for you outside. Let's go!"

Qiao Jinfan nodded and obediently followed Secretary Zhang out.

As they exited the airport, Qiao Jinfan saw a black Lincoln sedan parked not far away. In
Hong Kong, anyone who could afford such a sports car was undoubtedly wealthy and powerful, attracting the attention of passersby.

Qiao Jinfan walked over, and in the back seat sat a middle-aged man—none other than his
father, Qiao Jingyao, the head of the Qiao Group in Hong Kong.

"Daddy!" Qiao Jinfan smiled and opened the car door.

Qiao Jingyao looked at his beloved son, smiled faintly, and said, "Welcome back, Jinfan!"
With that, Qiao Jingyao waved his hand and said, "Drive!"

"Yes, boss!" the driver replied, and the car started moving.

Although this was the first time Qiao Jinfan had met his father since transmigrating, after receiving his memories
, he was very familiar with him. Outsiders often said that Qiao Jingyao
became one of Hong Kong's top hidden tycoons because of his wife, but Qiao Jinfan knew his father very well. He relied on his own
abilities and a little bit of luck. When he started his tile flooring business, it coincided with the recovery of Hong Kong's real estate market
. Through loans, his business grew bigger and bigger. Therefore, Qiao Jingyao believed in the saying: "Times make
heroes!"

Along the way, his father smiled and asked Qiao Jinfan about his situation in America, and they returned
home.

Qiao Jinfan's home was a luxurious villa on Peak Road in Hong Kong. Even though Qiao Jinfan knew from his memories that his
family was very powerful, when he actually saw this huge villa, he couldn't help but sigh at the
extravagance of Hong Kong's rich!

The villa covered an area of 1,000 square meters, with the garden and swimming pool taking up half of the area. A gardener
came to maintain the garden every week, making it appear very peaceful and beautiful. The villa has four floors and is in a typical European
style . There's also a house of over 100 square meters that serves as a game room.

Behind the villa is a sports field with a football field and tennis courts—truly an absolute
luxury estate.

After entering the villa, Qiao Jingyao led Qiao Jinfan to his study and smiled, "Jinfan, I originally wanted you to rest after
returning , but Dad still wants to chat with you for a bit..."

Qiao Jinfan chuckled and sat down on the sofa, saying, "Father, you're too kind. Please feel
free to speak your mind!"

Qiao Jingyao smiled, took out a cigar, lit it, and said, "Jinfan, what are your
plans ?"

Qiao Jinfan smiled faintly and said, "Of course, I'm here to build something! A man can't just
sit around !"

"Oh?" Qiao Jingyao's eyes lit up, then he said, "You mean, you're willing to take over Dad's Qiao
Group?"

"Well... Father, I think I'll hold off for now..." Qiao Jinfan said, "I'd like to establish
a . What do you think?"

"A film company?" Qiao Jingyao paused, frowned, and said, "Why did you think of making
movies?"

Qiao Jinfan smiled faintly and said, "This is probably my interest! Besides, Dad, it
's such a waste that the Cathay Cinemas chain left by Grandpa is just sitting there abandoned. I want to
take Cathay Cinemas and start an entertainment company. What do you think, Dad…?"

"Cathay Cinemas chain" refers to the cinema chain operated in Hong Kong by the former Cathay CEO, Lu Yuntao. It had over
twenty cinemas, and also had its own chains in Southeast Asia and Taiwan. Although it
has declined since Lu Yuntao's death, it still stands proudly in Hong Kong, now showing films to film companies and receiving
payment .

What is a cinema chain? A cinema chain includes the distribution and sales of films; it's
the key to whether a film can ultimately make a profit! To put it bluntly, a cinema chain is the lifeblood of a film company!
Without an independent cinema chain to support you, no matter how big the production is, you're just working for someone else!

Hong Kong is a relatively small place, with over 150 cinema chains in total. The four major chains account for
more than 80 of these: Golden Harvest Cinemas, Golden Princess Cinemas, and others.
Shaw Brothers also controls Shaw Cinemas and Cathay Cinemas (formerly controlled by Cathay Organisation).

Besides these four major chains, the remaining sixty-odd chains are controlled by wealthy tycoons,
but each owns a maximum of five or six, so their strength is nowhere near that of the four major chains.
Cathay Cinemas will be a huge asset for Qiao Jinfan's plan to start a film company!

Qiao Jingyao fell silent, looking at his son. In his heart, he hoped his son
would take over his position and lead the Qiao Group.

The Qiao Group currently owns businesses in Hong Kong spanning automobiles, real estate, hotels, and restaurants, with a net worth of
at least tens of billions, so a successor is essential. Qiao Jinfan is Qiao Jingyao's only
chosen successor .

But now, this boy is going to make movies, which inevitably displeases Qiao Jingyao.

However, Qiao Jingyao was, after all, an enlightened father. He thought for a moment, realizing his son had grown up and should be allowed
to do something meaningful. So he said, "Alright, Jinfan, Dad agrees to let you start a film company!"

Qiao Jinfan was overjoyed and quickly said, "Thank you! Dad..."

...

After talking with his father, Qiao Jinfan returned to his room, which he hadn't been to in a long time, but was also
visiting .

He stretched, his body stiff from the long flight, his joints
creaking.

He went to the window and opened it, letting in fresh air, truly
like bathing in a spring breeze.

He walked to the windowsill, opened the window again, letting the fresh air into his room,
feeling refreshed and enjoying a moment of peace.

Then, he went to the bathroom. Qiao Jinfan took off his clothes, revealing his naked body.
After removing his clothes, his muscles were softly defined; while not perfectly sculpted, each muscle
was clearly visible.

At this moment, Qiao Jinfan closed his eyes and focused his mind. Then, a large tattoo appeared on his back!

In Hong Kong, men with tattoos are mostly gang members or thugs,
representing, to some extent, their social status and gang affiliation.

Most people choose to get tattoos of dragons, phoenixes, tigers…
things .

But on Qiao Jinfan's body was the naked body of a beautiful woman, which seemed extremely strange.
