Incest Church

Recently, I was quite surprised to hear claims that Christianity is a "cult of incest"! Such arguments are baseless and lack any common sense. Fearing I might have misunderstood, I had to reread my old posts here, and indeed, this "logic" exists:

the Bible records incest = the Bible approves of incest = Christians agree with incest = Christians believe in incest = Christianity is a cult of incest. The

Bible's record of incest does not equate to its approval; the period before and after Leviticus in the Hebrew Bible is a watershed; the New Testament did not change the incest prohibition after Leviticus; the Church gradually combined with Roman law in the fourth century to strengthen the enforcement of incest laws; later Puritan thought even developed to the point of prohibiting marriage between direct and indirect relatives, including cousins; remnants of the prohibition against cousin marriage still exist in the laws of several conservative states in the United States, though not as harsh as they were three hundred years ago. I have only ever heard criticisms of Christianity's incest taboos as outdated and conservative, never of opposing Christianity using its advocacy of incest as a pretext—this is utterly absurd and ridiculous! According to the Bible, Christians acknowledged the existence of incest in ancient times, but this does not equate to Christian belief in incest, much less to the formation of an incest cult. The logic that existing records equate to endorsement, and endorsement equates to religious practice, is unacceptable to a rational mind! Incest refers to the disruption of ethical relationships, especially sexual relations between close family members. Viewing sexual intercourse among close family members as immoral and illegal is prevalent in modern religions, societies, and nations. Christianity has made direct and indirect contributions to this process of sexual civilization in the West and the world. Liberals who oppose Christian ethics only criticize its excessive opposition to incest, lacking tolerance, and dare not openly criticize the prohibition of incest, let alone claim that Christianity is a cult advocating incest!

In the adaptive processes of life's evolution, the pressure of evolution and differentiation may lead to a lack of sexual attraction between opposite sexes growing up together. Combined with measures to prevent early pregnancy in young girls from harming the physical and psychological health of mothers and children, and to reduce the possibility of genetic defects inherited from inbreeding, these natural constraints and cultural designs have ultimately led human society from inbreeding to distant kinship. In ancient times, with sparse populations, clans often lived in isolation, making incestuous group marriage inevitable. Chinese myths like Fuxi and Nuwa, and Roman myths like Zeus and Hera, reflect that sibling marriage was not unfamiliar to our ancestors. Historical records show that royal inbreeding was prevalent in ancient Egypt, Japan, and later among the Hawaiian islanders and Mexican Indians. Even in the 21st century, a significant proportion of cousin marriages, and even nephew-aunt marriages, still exist in the Arab and South Indian world. As humanity transitioned from a pre-marital stage to marriage, the binding force of marriage was governed by different civilized regulations, including exogamy and endogamy. A common practice was to combine the two, meaning that one could only choose a person from outside a particular group. Elements of a group include blood ties, social status, class, wealth, and affection. The importance, priority, acceptance, and rejection of these factors varied across different cultural stages, but the taboo against incestuous reproduction was a result of humanity's overall adherence to natural and social order. This natural and civilized process is naturally reflected in the oral traditions of the Abrahamic faith, which suggests a shared origin among Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, which is understandable. But why do people insist on singleing out Christianity and accusing it of incest? And why do some point at Christians and say, "Aren't you all born from incest?" This is not just nonsense and absurdity; it's practically an attempt to incite chaos and disorder! I urge those who speak out to exercise more self-respect!
