A Noble Family's Romantic Journey - Chapter 73: The Supreme Princess 1

That day, Zhanlong was summoned by Madam Pan early in the morning. Madam Pan said to Zhanlong, "Sixth Brother, Princess Jin is hosting a banquet at the Prince's Mansion at noon today and has invited us to meet her. Congratulations, you are about to become a groom."
Zhanlong was also very happy. Seeing that there was no one else around, he leaned over and said, "Auntie, could you tell me who my fiancée is?"
"this……"
Madam Pan pondered for a moment and said, "It's really hard to say. I dare not make any rash guesses. We'll find out when we get there."
Zhanlong then said, "Auntie, let's set off now."
The servants prepared a sedan chair. After traveling some distance from the Pan residence, the sedan chair bearers lifted the curtain and said, "Madam, we have arrived at the Prince's residence. Please alight from the sedan chair."
Zhanlong followed Madam Pan out of the sedan chair, and his eyes lit up immediately. The Prince of Jin's mansion was indeed luxurious and magnificent, with vermilion gates, guards standing in rows, and two bronze lions in front of the gate that were even more imposing.
A gatekeeper was already waiting there. Zhanlong followed Madam Pan inside, and the mansion was indeed magnificent. It was extremely large, with countless rooms, and the corridors stretched east to west and crisscrossed north to south. If you didn't follow the guide, you would probably get lost. There was a garden in the mansion, with an artificial hill and a grove of pure green fig trees on it. The flowers were beautiful, but the trees were just as beautiful.
Zhanlong and Madam Pan followed the guide along the garden avenue, lined with many large trees, their beauty lying in their graceful or upright postures, slender or elegant. After passing through the garden, they finally arrived at the hall. Upon entering, Zhanlong was stunned. The hall was filled with a dazzling array of treasures, including gold and silver vessels, glassware, and celadon porcelain… each one glittering and radiant. How magnificent! So many treasures!
Just then, a commotion arose ahead. Zhan Long looked up and saw three elegant and wealthy-looking women sitting on the left side of the main hall. Each of them was more beautiful than the last. When Madam Pan led Zhan Long in, the three of them stood up together. "Madam Pan, is this the sixth young master of the Yang family?"
Madam Pan stepped forward and greeted the three beautiful women one by one. Then she introduced them to Zhanlong. The woman at the head of the table was about thirty-five or thirty-six years old. She was tall and had a masculine air about her. Her appearance was also quite dashing. This was Tao Sanchun, the Princess Consort of Runan.
Zhanlong greeted Princess Tao, who nodded and said, "Old General is indeed a tiger cub from a military family. In this campaign against Chu, every son of the Yang family took the lead and set a good example for our Great Song. In particular, Sixth Brother killed the remnant of Chu, the Third Young Master Ma. Well done."
Zhan Long humbly replied, "Serving the country is everyone's responsibility. The Princess is not only a hero on horseback but also a renowned general of the current dynasty. I hope she will give me more guidance in the future."
Madam Pan then introduced Zhan Long to a beautiful woman in the middle. This woman was dressed in fine silks and satins, and had a very striking appearance. Although she lacked the heroic spirit of Tao Sanchun, she possessed a greater charm. This beautiful woman was none other than Zhang Xinyue, the wife of Prime Minister Zhao Pu. Zhan Long greeted the Prime Minister's wife, and Zhang Xinyue smiled slightly at Zhan Long, nodding repeatedly, and said, "What a handsome young man! Your Highness Prince Jin truly has excellent taste."
Madam Pan then introduced the last one to Zhanlong. Before Madam Pan could introduce her, the beautiful woman introduced herself, "Little Liu, I am the wife of Wang Ze, the Minister of War. Everyone here is an outsider. Little Liu, you are quite handsome. Come visit my home sometime."
Zhan Long thought to himself, "So it's Wang Ze's wife, Zheng Peilin. This woman is obviously a promiscuous woman. Her eyes kept scanning me up and down. She's even more lewd than Madam Pan. I'll teach her a lesson when I have time."
"Hehe, I've met Madam Wang."
Zhanlong greeted Zheng Peilin.
Then, Madam Pan led Zhanlong to sit down on the chair on the right.
Servants brought tea and snacks. Zhanlong saw that the three wives of high-ranking officials were sitting opposite him. The seat on his side with their heads bowed was empty, as was the seat directly in front of him. Whose seats were these? It seemed that all these beautiful wives of high-ranking officials had come to see him today.
With nothing else to do, Zhan Long observed the main hall of the Prince of Jin's residence. From the purple bamboo on the ceiling to the floor curtains, everything was made of the finest materials, yet it possessed a rustic charm rather than extravagance. The colors had lost their vibrancy, replaced by a touch of elegance, a hint of nobility, and a touch of refinement. Though incredibly magnificent, it didn't feel vulgar or ostentatious. In the corner, several incense burners emitted wisps of smoke, filling the room with a delicate, musky fragrance.
Several calligraphy and paintings hang on the surrounding walls. Every stroke, every dot, every line, the flowing brushwork, and the timeless artistic conception captivate every visitor, leaving them deeply enthralled.
Those who caught Su Zhiyu's eye and were invited to Wanyun Pavilion were all renowned scholars of their time, well-versed in the art and skill required for such an invitation. A painting in the center particularly caught the eye: a gold-flecked screen depicting two vibrant red peonies against a brilliant golden background. Beside the red peony was a white one, each flower displaying its own posture—some upright, some sideways—with delicate leaves and stems. Below, rocks were depicted, behind which a cluster of blooming daffodils, pure white and serene, untouched by worldly dust. The flowers, sparse and dense on the stems, displayed various postures, some upright, some drooping, some facing forward, some backward. Peonies have always been a symbol of wealth and nobility, while daffodils represent purity and nobility. The painter likely used this as a metaphor for himself, born into wealth yet maintaining integrity and remaining untainted by extravagant glory. In stillness, they faced each other, devoid of power or gain, forgetting all worldly concerns, transcending the mundane world. This painting possesses a profound charm; every stroke is perfectly placed, showcasing the owner's unique ingenuity. The fact that the owner placed it in the central hall suggests it is a masterpiece, something he was very proud of. It seems this Prince Jin was also a man of letters and art. The Zhao family of the Song Dynasty had quite a few such talented individuals; Emperor Huizong of Song, featured in *The Legend of the Dragon*, was the most outstanding representative of the Zhao family, possessing profound attainments in both calligraphy and painting.
As Zhanlong was pondering this, he heard someone shout, "The Empress has arrived!"
Everyone present immediately stood up.
Zhanlong's eyes lit up and he stood up as well. Two elegant and beautiful women, accompanied by four palace maids, walked slowly towards him. They were two stunning beauties who could topple kingdoms!
The woman before her possessed an air of regal elegance, her phoenix eyes gleaming with authority, her demeanor serene and composed, exuding a noble and unparalleled grace. Her elegant and refined face was incredibly alluring, her smooth skin fair and rosy, and her slightly high-bridged nose suggested a strong and independent woman. Her high-coiffed palace attire, trailing on the ground, perfectly showcased her beautiful figure. Her breasts were like towering peaks, her waist slender and delicate, seemingly impossible to encircle. Beneath the thin veil, her fair skin resembled the pure, flawless white jade. Though not fully visible, the way the clothing clung to her body made it easy to imagine the captivating allure of her willow-like arms and long, shapely legs.
No need to guess, this is Song Zhiyao, the empress of the old scoundrel Zhao Kuangyin. Who would have thought that the old scoundrel Zhao Kuangyin, with such a stunningly beautiful wife, would still be so unsatisfied? He even wanted to possess my fourth sister.
The beautiful woman behind Song Zhiyao had skin as white as snow, a slender figure with boundless charm, and slightly rounded breasts that held an alluring beauty, which could be glimpsed from their perfect curves. She was graceful and well-proportioned, her posture elegant, like a precious flower, her beauty exuding a captivating allure. Her sleeves were embroidered with delicate floral and bird patterns, and a white cloak draped over her shoulders, concealing the alluring curves of her figure.
This one must be Princess Fu Xuetong of Jin. Zhan Long couldn't help but admire her. What a beautiful woman! Her hairstyle was exquisite and unique, with pearl flowers strung with silk thread hanging down on both sides, lightly covering her temples, making her look charming and graceful. A curved comb adorned the front of her hair, with three hairpins on each side. A pair of crescent-shaped earrings hung on her perfectly curved earlobes. She had a clear and bright spirit, with a pure, elegant, and noble temperament. Standing next to Empress Song, they were like spring orchids and autumn chrysanthemums, each with their own beauty, yet complementing each other perfectly.
Empress Song was like a peony in full bloom, outshining all other flowers, exuding a musky fragrance, yet immaculate and flawless.
Princess Tao, Madam Zhao, and Madam Wang exchanged bewildered glances. In previous competitions, the final difference between the two sides was only two or three points. Three bowls of wine—Madam Wang and Madam Zhao each drank one, and Princess Tao drank two—and that was it. But eight bowls of wine? Even though Princess Tao had a decent capacity for alcohol, she had never tried it before. Seeing her two teammates' fearful expressions, Princess Tao picked up her wine bowl and gave each of them a bowl. "Madam Zhao, Madam Wang," she said, "I can't help you today. I'll drink three of the eight bowls. Is that fair? Our Song Dynasty was built on horseback. You two are all military men. You two should drink your way out today."
After saying that, he took the lead and drank a bowl of wine. After drinking the second bowl, Princess Tao was already a little dizzy. After drinking three bowls of wine, she was unsteady on her feet.
"Your Majesty, I apologize for making you laugh, but I kept my word and drank all the penalty wine."
Empress Song nodded, then looked at Madam Zhao and Madam Wang, "You two hurry up, accept your loss. I'm so happy today, it's not easy to beat you by so many balls, you can't spoil my mood."
Madam Zhao and Madam Wang looked at each other, then gritted their teeth and each forced down two large bowls of wine. Before long, they collapsed in front of the stone table, unable to wake up.
Empress Song was overjoyed and poured three more bowls of wine, giving one to Zhanlong and one to Princess Jin. "Come on, this bowl is our victory celebration wine, cheers!"
After drinking the celebratory wine, Empress Song and Princess Jin were also a little drunk. Seeing that Madam Wang and Madam Zhao were already unconscious, Princess Jin said, "Sister-in-law, they are both too drunk to continue. I think we should send someone to take them back to their residence immediately."
Empress Song said, "You had a great time today. I'm going back to the palace now. Xuetong, you must reward Liulang properly later."
Princess Jin readily agreed and ordered her family soldiers to prepare sedan chairs to send the ladies off together. Empress Song also returned to the palace in a phoenix palanquin.
Since Madam Pan had not drunk any alcohol, she took her leave. Zhanlong wanted to go with Madam Pan, but Princess Jin said, "Sixth Brother, why don't you stay?"
Zhanlong was taken aback, and Madam Pan laughed and said, "Sixth Brother, from now on, you don't need to live at my house anymore."
While Zhanlong was still in shock, Princess Jin smiled and said, "Sixth Prince, don't you want to live in our Prince Jin's residence?"
Zhanlong was both surprised and delighted upon hearing this. "Your Highness, this... I am quite flattered."
Madam Pan chuckled and said, "Sixth Brother, from now on you will still be the son-in-law of the Prince of Jin's mansion. You'll get used to it gradually."
After Madam Pan left, Zhanlong still hadn't figured it out. The Prince of Jin's son-in-law? The Princess of Jin is at most thirty years old, and I've never heard of the Prince of Jin having a daughter.
Princess Jin was already tipsy when she pulled Zhanlong to the back hall. She hadn't changed her sweaty clothes yet, and the scent of her milk mixed with her sweat aroused Zhanlong's lustful thoughts. "Your Highness, please forgive my impertinence, but what did Madam Pan mean just now? What did she say about me being someone's son-in-law?"
Princess Consort of Jin smiled and said, "Sixth Prince, would you be willing to become the son-in-law of my Prince Jin's mansion?"
Zhanlong was overjoyed, but also filled with doubt and asked, "Your Highness, haven't you and Prince Jin not had any children yet?"
Princess Jin said, "But we have an adopted daughter. Speaking of which, this adopted daughter has a deep connection with our Zhao family. She is the biological daughter of Emperor Shizong of the previous dynasty."
"ah?"
Zhanlong exclaimed in surprise.
