I let go of her, grabbed a guard, and asked, "Where can we find out their whereabouts?!"
The guard said in a panic, "There's a satellite monitor in our vehicle."
I pushed him aside and rushed downstairs. Ling Tianjiao snapped out of her daze, pointed at a guard, and shouted, "You stay here to protect the three of them! Nothing can go wrong! The rest of you, come with me!"
I got into their car, which was still running. I glanced at the satellite map and set off. I observed their route and suddenly remembered Xian'er mentioning the bank near the stadium. Looking at the map again, I realized their destination was likely there. But if I followed their route, I wouldn't be able to catch up with them. Looking at the road, my eyes lit up. I licked my dry lips and sped off the overpass.
Ling Tianjiao led her people out. Seeing that her police car had indeed been driven away, she immediately ordered the guards to call for nearby squads to come and provide backup, and then moved towards the location of the Rat Gang.
"What are you doing! Why didn't you notice they sneaked away!" Ling Tianjiao flew into a rage as soon as she got into the car, after all, she had just made a blunder and was furious.
"Reporting to the captain, the satellite needed to be repositioned after they entered the building, but repositioning takes time, so we couldn't get the message in time!" The guard had no choice but to say.
Ling Tianjiao had no reason to lose her temper anymore, so she could only say, "All squads, pursue the remaining members of the Rat Gang at full speed. Make sure to catch them before they escape the satellite surveillance range!"
After zipping across several street intersections and overpasses, I finally spotted a moving vehicle ahead. My gamble had paid off; the car had been modified, making it much sturdier than a regular car, and its shock absorption was excellent. Despite multiple impacts and falls from a great height, it remained undamaged, with only shattered glass and a detached bumper. There was also a handgun in the police car. After checking the ammunition, I turned onto a side street and waited for the next intersection.
"Boss, we'll be back at our hideout soon," Old Ghost said as he drove.
"Well done, handsome. Have you found out how the Sunrise Empire discovered us?" The man in the jacket asked the handsome guy who was fiddling with something beside him, touching the silver box in his arms.
After fiddling with it for a while, the handsome guy said, "It must be satellite surveillance. I think they've tracked us down."
The man in the jacket said, "Satellites? Does that mean we've been discovered by them now?"
The handsome guy waved his hand: "Don't worry, boss. Satellites aren't that powerful. We just came out of the building, so it takes us time to locate us. Besides, they have a limited range. Since no one has been chasing us for so long, we might have already run out of their range."
A loud bang interrupted the handsome guy's words. A white shadow flashed before his eyes, and then the world spun around him. The car they were in spun several times before crashing into the roadside. White smoke billowed from the front of the car, and the people inside were dizzy and unable to get up.
I shook my head, unbuckled my seatbelt, grabbed a crowbar and a pistol, and walked towards the car. The bald man in the back seat shook his head, trying to wake up, but I pointed the pistol at his head and shot him dead. I opened the passenger door and saw a man in a leather jacket carrying a box of virus sample. I took the box, grabbed his collar, and slammed him to the ground. He writhed in pain, and I kicked him a few times. Then I turned and pointed my gun at the sleazy man in the driver's seat who was trying to escape. The man raised his hands, got out of the driver's seat, and lay prone on the ground. I shot him in the leg.
"Ah!!!" The man clutched his leg and rolled on the ground, screaming in pain. I opened the back door, dragged the bald man's body out, and flung it far away, leaving a long trail of blood on the ground. I then pulled the two men from the back seat out one by one and threw them to the ground. I saw the man in the jacket struggling to get up. I kicked him in the stomach, sending him flying a meter or two away. He didn't even have the strength to speak.
"Tell me where they are?" I asked. They were still shaking their heads on the ground, unable to get up. I pointed my gun at the sleazy man who was still rolling on the ground clutching his legs and fired a shot that stopped him from making a fuss. The shot also brought them to their senses.
The young man recognized my face and immediately realized I was talking about Miao Ying and the others. He replied, "They're in the trunk, perfectly fine. We didn't do anything to them!"
I nodded and asked, "Who is your leader?"
"He, he is!" The young man pointed at the jacket-wearing man I had kicked away. I swung the crowbar at the jacket-wearing man's leg; a clear cracking sound followed by a heart-wrenching scream. The middle-aged man on the ground suddenly charged at me. I swung the crowbar back and knocked him down, then struck him several more times. Blood splattered onto me. Disgusted, I plunged the crowbar into his chest. The middle-aged man lay on the ground, twitching a few times before going still.
"Big brother! Don't kill me! Please spare me!" The young man knelt on the ground, begging me in terror. He was filled with regret; he should have killed me the first time he saw me.
I stomped on the man in the jacket's neck with a sharp crack, and another one was sent to hell. I said to him, "Which hand did you touch my woman with?"
The young man was taken aback, then said, "Left hand! Left hand!"
I nodded, and the young man's face lit up with joy. I pointed the gun at his arm, and he gritted his teeth, waiting to be shot in the arm.
"How dare you touch my woman?" As he spoke, a bloody hole appeared between his eyebrows in his astonished gaze, and he collapsed to the ground, his body limp.
I took off my blood-stained coat and threw it on the ground, then took the handcuff key from the body of the man in the jacket. I went to the back of their car and opened the trunk. Ding Huixin lay unconscious inside, while Miao Ying trembled as she opened her eyes, almost crying with excitement when she saw me. Tang Yuying had already jumped up and thrown herself into my arms, burying her head in my chest and kissing my neck, whispering that I was an idiot. I could only hold her tightly and stroke her head.
Tang Yuying broke free from my embrace and jumped to the ground. I picked Miao Ying up, used the key to unlock her handcuffs, and as soon as they were off, Miao Ying clung tightly to me, saying, "Brother Chen, I'm so scared!"
I hugged her and patted her back, saying softly, "Don't be afraid, I will protect you. It was my fault this time, I frightened you."
Miao Ying gave a soft "hmm" and nodded. I unlocked Ding Huixin's handcuffs, checked her for injuries, and found that she was fine.
Miao Ying and Tang Yuying glanced at the bandits' corpses, looking a little frightened. I sighed, "Sorry, it was too gory and scared you."
Tang Yuying and Miao Ying shook their heads, smiled at each other, and looked at me with more tenderness and love in their eyes.
A short while later, Ling Tianjiao and her convoy arrived. Ling Tianjiao got out of the car, saw the corpse on the ground, and gave me a deep look. She walked over to me and said, "Sir, I'm very sorry for what happened earlier. I was a little agitated and misunderstood you. Also, thank you very much for your help in eliminating these bandits."
"It's alright, you meant well. Besides, I didn't help you eliminate the bandits; I just came to rescue my people," I said, looking at her.
Ling Tianjiao glanced at Ding Huixin, who was unconscious in my arms, and asked, "Then, is your person alright?"
I shook my head and smiled: "It's nothing, I just fainted."
Ling Tianjiao nodded: "That's good." However, after glancing at her car, she felt a little dizzy. The car that I drove away could now be called scrap metal.
"Oh, well, I'll make it up to you," I said, looking at Ling Tianjiao's slightly pale face.
Ling Tianjiao waved her hand and said, "It's alright, let's get in the car first."
I nodded and asked Miao Ying to help me pick up the box. As soon as Ling Tianjiao saw the box, she exclaimed, "Wait!"
"What's wrong?" I asked, looking at her.
"Sir, may I ask what your name is?" Ling Tianjiao asked me nervously.
“My name is Chen Lin.” Ling Tianjiao nodded, a layer of beads of sweat appearing on her beautiful nose. “Mr. Chen, I would like to ask why you are carrying a cargo box that is classified as top secret in our Sunrise Empire.”
I was taken aback: "Oh right, I forgot you're from the Sunrise Empire." Ling Tianjiao swallowed hard.
"Do you know Dr. Sanjaya?" I asked.
Ling Tianjiao nodded: "No one in the Sunrise Empire doesn't know Dr. Sanlia. The strength of our Sunrise Empire is inseparable from his contributions." So Du Lingyun's grandfather was that awesome! I continued: "Oh, that's good. I've been entrusted to deliver this to him personally."
Ling Tianjiao replied, "I understand. From now on, Lieutenant Ling Tianjiao of the Second Legion of the Sunrise Empire will be responsible for your safety until we reach Ghent headquarters."
