小站的站台只有几十米长，或者说，整个小站其实就只有这个站台和旁边的一家小卖部，几名山村妇女在附近挎着篮子，在向火车上的人兜售着山货。而这周围除了这个小车站之外，竟然全是大山，绵绵延延的大山充满了李余的整个视野。站台的边上竖立着一个站牌，上面写着「潭古县站」几个大字。
李余看了看手中的地图，好不容易在在一个角落里找到了这里的地名。
「虽然也属於四川省，但是好像很偏僻的样子。」看着小站上就像电影里表现出来的几十年前的样子，李余不禁感叹道。
虽然是做过了思想上的准备，但是李余还是觉得这里实有点荒凉。不过现在不是感叹的时候，反正来都来了，先找地方吧！
「去县城，找教育局。」这是临走的时候，主任对李余说的。
「先找县城吧！」
「大姐，大姐，请问县城应该怎麽走啊？」李余向一位正在兜售山货的村妇问道。
「男娃，买只鸡蛋吧！」
「对不起大姐，我不要鸡蛋，能告诉我县城怎麽走吗？」
「买只鸡蛋吧！」
「我不要鸡蛋，能告诉我县城怎麽走吗？」李余有点生气的说。
没想到这位大姐二话不说，竟然转身走了。
「什麽态度嘛，我只不过问路而已，居然……」
没办法，李余只好去问另外一位大姐。
「买斤核桃吧！」
「买斤苹果吧！」
「买只小兔吧！」
在连续拒绝了多位大姐好心的推销之後，李余终於明白了，如果他不买点什麽的话，他是不会得到如何去县城的信息的。
「鸡蛋多少钱一个？」李余终於认输了。
「两元一只哩！」
「什麽？这简直是敲诈啊！」
「不买算喽！」卖鸡蛋的大姐还是一副不耐烦的样子。
「好，好，我认了。给你钱，现在总能告诉我怎麽去县城了吧！」李余气愤地说道。
「喏，顺着那条路一直走就到了。」大姐指着火车站旁边的一条小路说道。
「这，这条路好像是进山的路啊！」李余看着这条路的走向，万分疑问。
「我们县城本来就在山里的嘛，有啥子好奇怪的！」这回反而是大姐在奇怪了。
「ｏｈ，ｍｙ　ｇｏｄ！」李余已经不知道该说什麽好了。
或许是人走得比较少的原因，从火车站到县城的这条土路很难走，不过还好的是走了一段之後，土路终於成为了柏油路，但是年久失修的路面上到处都是坑坑洼洼的。
半路上，李余好不容易搭了一辆马车，朝县城走去。
在天黑前，马车终於摇晃到了县城，李余看了看表，已经五点多了，现在即使找到教育局，估计里面也没人了，於是李余找到了可能是县城里唯一的一家旅馆住了下来。
在忍受了一晚的脏乱和蚊虫叮咬之後，李余第二天早上便迫不及待地向旅馆老板打听好了教育局在哪里後，就急忙离开了这里。
昨天晚上来到潭古县城的时候，李余根本没仔细观察过，今天早上一看，他终於知道贫穷二字的含义了。
整个县城里，能超过两层的建筑物估计没有十栋，而他要找的教育局就在其中，所以找起来很方便。
虽然属於县城里少有的「高」层建筑物，但是这座五层的楼房看起来好像是上个世纪八十年代的东西了。
经过了门房大爷的指点，李余来到了一间办公室，一位自称是教育局张副局长的人接待了李余。
「是从北京来的李余先生啊？啊，欢迎，欢迎。我们这里早就接到电话说你要来了，我们一直很期待你的到来啊！」这位副局长热情地握住了李余的手。
「这是我的介绍信。」对握手没兴趣的李余直接拿出了介绍信，交到张副局长的手里。
「会给我一个怎样的工作呢？在教育局里当一名普通干部的话，那也太委屈我了，最少也得是局长的秘书吧，最好是当一名主任，干个一年後就提拔我也当个副局长什麽的。」李余在张副局长看信的时候，开始幻想起自己的未来了。
「嗯，原来是这个样子呦。李余同志，你竟然有如此伟大的精神境界，可真是值得我们佩服。你从大城市来，竟然要求到最贫穷的地方去教书，好，我就满足你的要求。（我这辈子从来没见过有人有过这种要求。『张副局长暗语』），我会把你安排到我们县里最穷、最偏僻的村子去教书。哈哈，你放心，这件事情包在我身上喽！」
「什麽？……鬼才想去最穷，最偏僻的地方教书呢！」李余心道。
「这、这，好像有点误会，我……」
「有啥子误会麽，介绍信上写的请清楚楚，你自己要求去条件最差的地方教书，白纸黑字还能有错麽？你放心，我马上就给你去安排，你先坐啊，我去去就回。」
张副局长说完马上跑了出去，「嘭」的一声，从关门的声音来判断，他似乎是把门反锁上了。
「怎麽，怎麽会这样……」李余抓起了被丢在眼前的介绍信。
「……李余同志年轻有为，思想进步，意志坚定，坚持要去老、少、边、穷地区条件最差的地方教书，把自己的青春全部奉献给这些地区的孩子们。这位同志真是我们学习的榜样啊……」
「天啊，这、这不是胡说八道吗，我什麽时候要求过去条件最差的地方教书啦？不要开这种玩笑了，我看还是现在回去好了。」李余撇下了介绍信，打算出去，「咦，门怎麽锁上了？放我出去啊，这是个误会，我要回家，放我出去！」李余这时才知道後悔已经有点晚了。
大概过了十几分钟的样子，从门那里出来了钥匙开锁的声音。
「太好了，我要走，我要回家去，我可不愿去什麽条件最差的地方教书，再见吧，老子的青春是属於自己的，绝对不会奉献给其他什麽人。」李余嘴里念叨着，背起自己的包准备离开。
「李余同志，这麽都等不急喽，太好喽，我这不是已经带人来准备把你送去吗？不要急嘛！」张副局长连推带搡的把李余又按回到了椅子上。
「小王，小赵，这位就是从北京来的李余同志，你们两个负责把人家送到洞子村去，既然李余同志这麽着急，你们现在就出发吧，不要耽误了行程。」
「是唆！」从张副局长身後走过来两个身强力壮的年轻人左右一架，就把李余架了起来。
「等等，这里有误会，放开我有话要说……」
「有啥子误会嘛，你的情况在介绍信上写得清清楚楚，我们都明白。好了，现在就出发吧！」
「等等，放开我，不要这样啊……」
就这样，李余被两个人架着，离开了县城，走上了山路。
「反正到了地方之後我自己就悄悄的跑了，难道说我一个大男人还能被困死在山村里不成？」李余心中暗暗打定注意。
「两位大哥，咱们这要去什麽地方啊？」李余小心翼翼的问着。
「去洞子村。」
「好奇怪的地名啊！」
「是唆，那个村里的人都住在洞子里，所以叫这个名字。」
「都住洞里，那岂不是原始人……」
「咱们应该不必要走这麽快吧，我的腿都快累折了。」李余喘着粗气说道。对於平时极少锻炼的人来说，走这种山路无疑是一种折磨。
「快点吧，慢了小心被困住，那时叫天天不灵，叫地地不应就惨了。」小王对李余说道。
「被困住？什麽意思？」李余一边继续喘粗气，一边问。
「这山里多发泥石流，特别是在夏天，也就是现在这个时候，雨水多，一下雨，泥石流动不动就把山路冲坏了。要是咱们被泥石流困住，就只有等死了。」小赵回答李余说道。
「什麽？那咱们要去的那个村子里的人怎麽到外面去呢？他们不清理山路的吗？」
「清理山路！说得容易，哪里来的钱唆？咱们要去的那个洞子村，到了夏天之後，由於泥石流断路的原因，经常是半年与外面联系不上。」
「半年！……」李余感到一阵恶寒，尽管他已经在发挥他最大的想像力了，但是现实一次又一次的告诉他，事实比他想像得更可怕。
「一定要快点逃出去。」李余脑子里的这个念头更加强烈了。
但是……
He hadn't expected that their journey would last three days.
