Living with my nurse stepmother - Chapter 759: Opening the Cannon

Before nightfall, Ye Tian had already led his fleet to the location of the isolated island. However, he was surprised to find that the island had already become visible. Not only that, but many giant nautilus carcasses were floating everywhere on the sea surface. It seemed that the island had been breached, and the giant nautilus, a prehistoric animal, had once again tragically gone extinct.
Ye Tian didn't care whether this extraordinary creature survived; he was more interested in the life or death of Sect Leader Tang Chun. Although Sect Leader Tang Chun had prevented Ye Tian's family from reuniting for twenty years, her final act of forgiveness had gradually diminished Ye Tian's hatred for her. After all, the current leader of the Female Jade Sect was Ye Tian's own mother, Wenren Ziyu. Tang Chun was now just Tang Chun, and would never again be the sect leader.
Ye Tian saw the South Vietnamese flag flying at the highest point of the isolated island, and many South Vietnamese soldiers were standing guard around the island. They had obviously noticed the approaching aircraft carrier battle group and were returning to the central courtyard to report.
Seeing this scene, Ye Tian knew Tang Chun was likely in grave danger. However, Ye Tian had already anticipated this fate for the old woman before leaving, so he wasn't particularly saddened. After all, she was just an old woman with whom he had little affection.
At this moment, only one troop transport ship from the Southern Yue Kingdom remained beside the isolated island. Clearly, after occupying the island, the Southern Yue Kingdom left only some troops behind before its fleet departed.
How could Ye Tian, who commanded an aircraft carrier battle group, fear a few South Vietnamese sailors? He immediately dispatched landing ships to the shore, sending several tanks and dozens of marines ashore. He instructed them to capture as many alive as possible and absolutely not to fire first.
The Chinese Marine Corps is one of the world's most well-trained special forces. They quickly captured all the dozen or so South Vietnamese soldiers on the isolated island. These South Vietnamese soldiers, seeing the Chinese fleet attacking the island, dared not retaliate and surrendered without resistance upon seeing the Chinese soldiers.
Ye Tian ordered the marines to strip them all naked and send them back to the troop transport ship, then expel the ship from the country. Amidst the jeers of the Chinese soldiers, the South Vietnamese soldiers returned to the ship, naked. They dared not linger, obediently speeding away at top speed, afraid of being too slow.
Ye Tian led a few people to the island, personally climbed to the highest point, removed the flag of the Southern Yue Kingdom, and planted the flag of the Chinese Kingdom in its place.
Looking out into the distance, several enemy warships slowly appeared in the distance where the sky met the water to the west.
Ye Tian smiled calmly, waved his hand and said to his messenger, "Pass on my order: all ships face west and the entire army is on high alert!"
With that, Ye Tian ran and jumped down the hill, making his way back to the aircraft carrier and his command post.
The South Vietnamese fleet arrived quickly, this time deploying thirty warships. However, their ships were inferior to those of China in terms of type and function, and their combat capabilities were not on the same level. Furthermore, with an aircraft carrier anchored in China's fleet, Ye Tian could easily send aircraft carrying landing ships to attack South Vietnamese territory if things went wrong.
The South Vietnamese expedition was personally commanded by Prime Minister Yuan Zhiqiang. However, he seemed to have underestimated China's swift response. His original aim was simply to occupy the isolated island, bolster his public image, and boost his chances of running for president. He never expected such a simple action to attract a Chinese aircraft carrier group. Was China determined to start a war? That wouldn't be good. Although Yuan Zhiqiang's original goal was to instigate war between China and South Vietnam, now wasn't the time. He wasn't fully prepared yet.
But Ye Tian didn't care whether they were ready or not. When the South Vietnamese fleet got closer, Ye Tian suddenly waved his hand and shouted, "Fire!"
As soon as the sound faded, the various cannons on the destroyer unleashed their fire at the South Vietnamese fleet from a great distance.
The South Vietnamese fleet, of course, heard the sound and immediately reported to Yuan Zhiqiang: "Commander, should we retaliate?"
Yuan Zhiqiang shook his head and said, "No need, we're not within their firing range."
As a naval veteran, Yuan Zhiqiang had a thorough understanding of the basic principle of attack range. The Chinese fleet firing at this moment was meaningless; it was clearly just a show of force to deter the South Vietnamese fleet from approaching.
Yuan Zhiqiang waved his hand and said, "Pass on my order: all warships cease advance!"
As he spoke, Yuan Zhiqiang picked up his binoculars and personally went to the bow of the ship to observe the Chinese fleet. Sure enough, the cannon fire from the Chinese fleet was just a cheap fireworks display; it couldn't even hit the South Vietnamese warships before sinking them into the sea.
As soon as he reached the bow of the ship, Yuan Zhiqiang saw ten aircraft take off from the Chinese aircraft carrier through his binoculars.
The planes arrived extremely fast and aggressively. Immediately, a subordinate commander stepped forward and asked, "Commander, can our anti-aircraft guns be activated? Or should we shoot these planes down?"
Yuan Zhiqiang shook his head again, and said calmly, "No need, these planes are not here to attack."
The commander was taken aback and asked in confusion, "Why?"
Yuan Zhiqiang glanced at the commander and scoffed, "When your carrier-based aircraft attack a fleet, would you send out these few pieces of junk to their deaths without submarines and warships to support them, or without escort aircraft? Who do you think you're trying to sink? Even if you could sink one ship, these ten planes definitely wouldn't make it back, understand? How many are too many and how few are too few? Do you think Chinese commanders are idiots? How did someone as stupid as you become a commander?"
The commander blushed deeply as Yuan Zhiqiang bombarded him with questions. He looked at Yuan Zhiqiang with trepidation, too afraid to speak.
Indeed, the ten fighter jets simply glided through the sky in a neat formation. They turned a corner and flew back, leaving a trail of paper scraps in their wake. While the South Vietnamese soldiers were still wondering what was going on, all ten fighter jets had already returned to the aircraft carrier.
Many of the scraps of paper fell into the boundless sea, but many others landed on South Vietnamese ships. When many South Vietnamese soldiers picked them up out of curiosity and looked at them, they couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Laughter erupted from many of the South Vietnamese ships, so loud that even the cunning old pirate Yuan Zhiqiang felt a chill run down his spine. He quickly picked up a piece of white paper that had fallen beside him. What he saw made him so angry his nose almost twisted.
The white paper was blank, but it was clearly covered with a color photograph of a person. The person in the color photograph was none other than Yuan Zhiqiang, the Prime Minister of the Southern Vietnam and the commander of this operation.
Posting a few photos wouldn't normally be a problem, but these photos aren't just portraits of Yuan Zhiqiang; they also include various photoshopped images of him in different outfits. There are images of him dressed as a woman, beaten up with blood streaming down his face and crying, nude photos, and exaggerated cartoon portraits. In short, it's a blatant attempt to mock and insult Yuan Zhiqiang, a former prime minister, leaving him utterly humiliated.
Yuan Zhiqiang's face turned red. He immediately tore up the paper in his hand, stared angrily at the Chinese fleet in the distance, waved his hand, and shouted loudly, "Fire!"
