Picking up girls online

Peng Chuanwei contacted A Xiang again.
"A Xiang, why were you angry that day? It confused me."
Peng Chuanwei asked.
"I wasn't angry,"
A Xiang said. "I just didn't want to get involved with the underworld. Actually, I was scared, that's why I ignored you. Since you're in the underworld, let's keep to ourselves."
"You misunderstood,"
Peng Chuanwei explained. "I'm not in the underworld, I'm at the chairman's office,"
Peng Chuanwei sent A Xiang a video call request, which she quickly rejected. This made Peng Chuanwei very anxious. He hurriedly typed two words, "Answer it."
"Let's just talk like this,"
A Xiang's message came through. "I won't answer your video call."
"Let me see you again,"
Peng Chuanwei pleaded, "I miss you, I've been thinking about you all this time."
"Really?"
A Xiang asked. "Really?"
"You never believe me, do you?"
Peng Chuanwei retorted. "Of course I miss you, I've been going crazy thinking about you these past few days."
Just then, there was a knock on the door. "Who is it?"
Peng Chuanwei asked absentmindedly.
"It's me, open the door."
It was Zhang Ya's voice. Peng Chuanwei hurriedly logged off his internet account. He calmed himself down, opened the door, and Zhang Ya burst in.
"Who were you flirting with online again?"
Zhang Ya asked, her voice trembling with jealousy.
"What do you mean?"
Peng Chuanwei asked. "What do you mean, flirting with someone online? Am I that charming?"
"Don't deny it,"
Zhang Ya said angrily. "You were online while I was away."
"Who was online?"
Peng Chuanwei denied. "Who was I online with?"
"If you weren't online, why was your computer on?"
Zhang Ya asked.
"My computer is always on. Does turning on the computer mean you're online?"
Peng Chuanwei said, somewhat angrily. "I haven't even done anything yet, and you're already controlling me. If I married you, what would you do?"
"I'm doing this because I love you,"
Zhang Ya said, sounding aggrieved. "That's why you care. That's why you're jealous."
"I don't want this. It's too restrictive. I don't like this lifestyle,"
Peng Chuanwei said. “Zhang Ya, if you continue to be so petty, then let’s break up. This kind of life isn’t what I want. I’m not a man who’s just going to settle down and live a domestic life; I’m a man who’s going to make something of himself.”
Zhang Ya was no longer arrogant; she became sullen and silent.
“You know best what kind of man I am,”
Peng Chuanwei continued. “No woman tries to control me. I like freedom and I don’t like being restrained.”
“I’m not trying to restrain you,”
Zhang Ya said coquettishly. “I like you.”
“No one likes you like that. It seems like you want to force me.”
Peng Chuanwei said.
Zhang Ya chuckled. “You think I’m that domineering?”
“Yes, your father is in the hospital, and you still come back to check on him and see if anything’s wrong.”
Peng Chuanwei said.
“I went home to get something for my father and just happened to drop by to see you. You’re overthinking it.”
Zhang Ya rolled her eyes at him. “You’re taking my kindness for granted.”
Zhang Ya pouted her bright red lips. She was incredibly charming.
Peng Chuanwei leaned in and embraced the charming Zhang Ya. Zhang Ya leaned into his arms.
Zhang Ya moaned joyfully beneath Peng Chuanwei. Peng Chuanwei, like a seasoned general, skillfully displayed his prowess on her.
Satisfied, Zhang Ya got up from beneath Peng Chuanwei. She still had to go to the hospital; she tidied her disheveled hair, straightened her clothes, and left Peng Chuanwei's office, her face flushed.
Peng Chuanwei sat up from the sofa, still carrying Zhang Ya's lingering scent. Zhang Ya was gone, but her sweetly flushed face still lingered in his mind, filling him with immense satisfaction.
The room calmed down from their passionate battle, and Peng Chuanwei thought of Ah Xiang online. He had just explained the misunderstanding to Ah Xiang, only to be interrupted by this unexpected encounter. He regretted it; of all times, why now? What a spoilsport!
Peng Chuanwei logged back into his online account. After a while, Ah Xiang's avatar began flashing; clearly, she had contacted him while he was offline.
Peng Chuanwei hurriedly clicked on A Xiang's avatar with his mouse. Several lines of text appeared on his computer screen.
"Do you say this to every woman?"
A Xiang continued Peng Chuanwei's words.
"I feel like you are. Why aren't you saying anything?"
"You logged off. Ugh..."
Peng Chuanwei clicked on A Xiang's avatar and saw these words.
Peng Chuanwei hurriedly checked his online friends list. Fortunately, A Xiang was still online, which made him overjoyed. If A Xiang had logged off, he would have completely lost hope. She would misunderstand him for the rest of her life.
"Hello, A Xiang,"
Peng Chuanwei typed. But after a long time, A Xiang didn't reply.
"Why aren't you saying anything?"
Now it was Peng Chuanwei's turn to be anxious. "Someone came while we were chatting. I'm the chairman, I can't chat online during work hours. So I neglected you, are you angry?"
Peng Chuanwei typed these words and sent them to A Xiang, but it was still like throwing a stone into the sea. Silence.
Peng Chuanwei didn't give up; he continued typing to A Xiang. "A Xiang, why do you always misunderstand me? How can I explain it to you so you'll believe me?"
"Your actions speak louder than words,"
A Xing finally replied. This was a very good sign for Peng Chuanwei. He thought to himself that as long as A Xiang replied, he could win her heart, because he was incredibly smooth-talking when it came to women. This was Peng Chuanwei's forte; almost every woman he'd ever flirted with fell for his charms.
"I want to explain things to you properly,"
Peng Chuanwei texted A Xiang again.
"Explain what?"
A Xiang asked.
"We have too many misunderstandings,"
Peng Chuanwei hurriedly typed. "I want you to understand my feelings for you."
"Are you really the chairman?"
A Xing asked.
"You still don't believe me, do you?"
Peng Chuanwei asked, dissatisfied.
“Of course, there are so many scammers online these days,”
Ah Xiang said. “We haven’t been chatting for long, and your suspicious behavior has already made me suspicious. Do you think I can trust you?”
“If you don’t believe me, come and see my office, and you’ll know,”
Peng Chuanwei said. “Give me a call before you come, so I can make arrangements.”
“Are you so confident I can come?”
Ah Xiang sent these words dismissively.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be confident?”
Peng Chuanwei said, “I’m the high-class man that women pursue these days.”
“You’re just bragging.”
Ah Xiang sent a QQ emoticon, a cow.
“Are you coming or not?”
Peng Chuanwei was getting impatient.
“What promises will you give me if I come?”
Ah Xiang said. “At least give me a sense of security.”
“What do you want me to do? Tell me.”
Peng Chuanwei asked.
“What do you mean, ‘what do you want me to do’? How will you treat me when I come?”
Ah Xiang asked.
“Of course, I’ll treat you well,”
Peng Chuanwei said.
“That’s like saying nothing at all,”
Ah Xiang said. “I’ll treat any friend who comes from afar well. I’m asking you, what kind of treatment do you mean?”
“I’m stupid, I don’t understand your intention. Can you just say it directly?”
Peng Chuanwei said.
“I want you to guarantee my safety. Do you understand?”
A Xiang said. “Let’s meet. I’ll see if there’s a suitable job for me where you are, and I’ll work there. But can you solve my housing problem?”
“No problem.”
Peng Chuanwei said.
“If I’m renting, I might as well not work. Houses in the city are very expensive, so expensive that they can make your nose bleed. So I want you to arrange a place for me, but you can’t come to my place, do you understand?”
“What do you mean?”
Peng Chuanwei was confused by this woman.
“We’re just online friends, you can’t have any other thoughts about me. Let’s just be friends. Okay?”
A Xiang asked.
“We get along so well chatting, can’t we just be friends?”
Peng Chuanwei asked.
“Of course, just friends. Promise me, or I won’t go.”
A Xiang said.
“Promise you what?”
Peng Chuanwei asked, bewildered.
“Don’t touch me.”
A Xiang said.
Peng Chuanwei suddenly chuckled inwardly. This woman was really trying to cover up her guilt; it was like she was trying to hide something obvious. It turned out she was already feeling insecure
. Peng Chuanwei seemed to have her nail on the head, manipulating her perfectly.
"Just come without worry, I promise you,"
Peng Chuanwei said. "I won't touch you unless you volunteer. I still have that much self-respect."
"How far is your home from your workplace?"
A Xiang started to care about his situation. If she really came, her entire life would be inextricably linked to this man, because he was, after all, a pillar of her life here.
"Not far. Ten minutes on foot, twenty minutes by car," Peng Chuanwei
said humorously.
"Why is taking a car slower than walking?"
A Xiang asked, puzzled.
"Because of traffic," Peng Chuanwei said. A Xiang: Haha, you're quite humorous. "You like humor?" Peng Chuanwei asked. "Of course," A Xiang said. "I like humorous men; men with a sense of humor are very witty and generous." "Exactly, you'll like me when you come," Peng Chuanwei said confidently. "Don't let my looks fool you, I'm very gentle," Ah Xiang typed back with a laugh. The chat time flew by. Before they knew it, it was time to leave work, and Pang Ying called. "Chairman, are you going to the Phoenix Hotel tonight?" Pang Ying asked on the phone. "Did Hua Juan invite you?" "Yes, where are you?" Peng Chuanwei asked absentmindedly. Actually, his mind was still on the computer. "I'm coming out soon, want to come together?" Pang Ying asked on the phone. "You go first, I have something to do, I need to be busy for a while," Peng Chuanwei said, making excuses. The beautiful woman's avatar on the computer screen started moving. Peng Chuanwei clicked on it unintentionally, only to see Ah Xiang talking to him for a long time. "What's wrong with you again? Why aren't you saying anything?" Peng Chuanwei sent her a phone number emoticon on QQ, and Ah Xiang understood—he was on the phone, interrupted by the chat. Seeing the phone number on the QQ emoticon, Ah Xiang knew Peng Chuanwei was on the phone. "I'm going to a social event too, let's chat tonight, okay? Wait for me tonight," Peng Chuanwei said. "Okay, go ahead, drink less and eat more," Ah Xiang instructed, these words warming Peng Chuanwei's heart. Peng Chuanwei sent her a QQ emoticon, a scarlet pair of lips kissing her. Just then, his phone rang again; it was Wu Dou. "Brother, where are you?" Wu Dou asked as soon as the call connected. "At work, haven't come out yet," Peng Chuanwei said. "Come out quickly, everyone's waiting for you at the Phoenix Hotel," Wu Dou said. "The banquet won't start until you come," Peng Chuanwei typed to Ah Xiang after hanging up, "I have to go, my friends keep calling me, I can't not go, I really hate to leave you." "Then go ahead, don't keep your friends waiting," Ah Xiang said. "I'll wait for you tonight." "Okay," Peng Chuanwei said. "See you there." "See you there," Ah Xiang typed. When Peng Chuanwei arrived at the Phoenix Hotel, all the invited Jia Pins were there; it was a gathering of business elites and white-collar workers. "Chairman, why are you so late?"

Hua Juan walked over gracefully. She was wearing a bright red miniskirt today, looking very vibrant and sexy. "Everyone's waiting for you."
"Sorry, something came up and I was held up,"
Peng Chuanwei said with a smile. "Hua Juan, you look so beautiful today, radiant! If we were on the street, I might not recognize you at first glance,"
Hua Juan said with a charming smile. "Exaggeration, even the Chairman can exaggerate?"
"It's not an exaggeration, it's true,"
Peng Chuanwei said.
"Chairman, let's not just talk here,"
Hua Juan said, seemingly remembering something. "Please, take your seats."
Peng Chuanwei followed Hua Juan to the large private room that had been reserved in advance.
"The Chairman really knows how to handle things. Why did you just arrive?"
Liu Meili said, looking at Peng Chuanwei with great flair.
A group of guests sat down around a large round table.
"Ladies and gentlemen, good evening,"
Tao Ming said clearly and distinctly after everyone was seated. "I am very grateful that everyone could come tonight. You are all elites of this city, and your presence makes this banquet even more splendid."
Tao Ming's words were met with enthusiastic applause.
"Now, on behalf of Hua Juan, I would like to pour a toast for everyone."
Tao Ming picked up the bottle and began pouring wine in order of rank, starting with Peng Chuanwei.
No matter who he poured, Tao Ming said something along the way, "Chairman, on this day last year, I'm returning the title of General Manager to you."
Tao Ming poured Peng Chuanwei a full glass. Peng Chuanwei repeatedly declined, saying, "Alright, alright."
"Chairman Peng, you must drink more of this wine, no matter what. I still have to compete with last year, to reclaim my lost empire."
"Is that so?"
Peng Chuanwei asked. "I like competition. I hope you come back victorious. I like competition, it's exciting. Haha," Peng Chuanwei laughed.
"Alright. Just you wait."
Tao Ming smiled. "Chairman Peng, I admire your methods."
"Is that so?"
Peng Chuanwei replied with a smile. "It's a skill. As a businessman, you must understand the rules of the game to navigate this mysterious business world."
"Chairman, you're right,"
Tao Ming said calmly. "Business opportunities are for mature people."
"Stop with the two of you talking. Tao Ming, pour your drinks first,"
Pang Ying said impatiently. "I've been listening to your clamor."
"General Manager Wu,"
Tao Ming approached Wu Dou and poured him a full glass of wine. "It won't be long before your current position is mine."
"I suppose so,"
Wu Dou smiled. "Arrogant fellow. I'll be waiting."
"It's a deal,"
Tao Ming said. "Only competition leads to development."
"Yes,"
Wu Dou smiled disdainfully, and Tao Ming saw contempt and disrespect in his disdainful smile, which infuriated him.
"Pang Ying, you're becoming more and more like a leader,"
Tao Ming said, pouring wine for Pang Ying. "And you've become more and more charming, very womanly."
"Thank you for the compliment."
Pang Ying's cheeks flushed red, even before she'd had a drink, like fiery clouds in the sky. She was incredibly alluring and captivating.
Next, Tao Ming poured wine for Liu Meili, and finally for Hua Juan. Once the wine was ready, it was Hua Juan's turn to speak.
"Ladies and gentlemen, actually, there's no particular reason for this banquet today,"
Hua Juan said. "I just wanted to get together with everyone. I've just gotten out of prison, and celebrating my imprisonment felt awkward, so today we're gathered because I missed you all. The purpose of this gathering is to get together and speak freely."
Hua Juan's words touched everyone. They all looked at her earnestly, feeling that Hua Juan was kind; even in her situation, she was still thinking of them, which deeply moved them.
"Come on, if you think highly of me, Hua Juan, drink this!"
Hua Juan tossed her head back and downed her glass, then turned the glass upside down to indicate that she'd finished it all, without drinking a drop.
Seeing Hua Juan down her drink, no one wanted to spoil the mood, so they all drank theirs in return.
Peng Chuanwei, seeing Hua Juan's forthright manner, felt a surge of goodwill. He even considered asking her to return to the company, but the words caught in his throat.
If Peng Chuanwei had expressed his thoughts then, many of the subsequent bureaucratic hurdles wouldn't have occurred. But, inexplicably, Peng Chuanwei didn't reveal his true intentions. He was a very composed man, knowing how to gauge the situation.
Perhaps Hua Juan's fate was fraught with hardship. Misfortune seemed to lurk deep within, watching her, ready to pounce at any moment.
