A Female Official's Romantic Affairs - Chapter 321 Survival in Danger

Gu Qingyin slowly sat up from the ground.
The wind in the forest blew on her face, cool and a little cold. She moved her limbs and felt no discomfort except for her arms, which were so sore that she could not lift them.
Feeling somewhat lost, she looked around and found herself in a dense bamboo forest. The bamboo branches were long and slender, emerald green, swaying in the wind and rustling. Behind her was a stream, its water flowing gently and crystal clear.
She turned her head and saw a person lying by the stream. His dark hair was loose, covering half of his face. The other half of his face was covered with mud, but his thick, sword-like eyebrows and pale skin were still visible.
One of his arms was crossed over his chest, as if trying to protect something, while the other arm hung limply on the pebbles by the stream, with some dried bloodstains on the back of his hand, quietly washed away by the stream.
She stood up, stumbled over, her fingers trembling violently, brushed the hair from his face, and let his neck rest in the crook of her arm.
She had never seen Han Jinqing like this before. Pale, fragile, and disheveled, he had no haughty demeanor or dignified bearing. He lay in her arms, so close to her, with his eyes closed in peace.
Her gaze fell on his arm, which was completely soaked by the stream. The wound had stopped bleeding, but it left a deep scar, with the flesh turned outwards and the bone visible, which was horrifying.
Her heart trembled violently, her eyes welled up with tears, and a mix of emotions churned within her, causing a dull ache in her internal organs.
Why did he jump down? Why did he jump down after me?
Such impulsive and foolish behavior would never be his choice.
Tears welled up silently in her eyes. The answer was within reach, but she still avoided it.
She wiped away her tears, barely managing to suppress her chaotic thoughts. This place was deserted and empty; if she and Han Jinqing wanted to leave safely, she would have to rely on herself alone.
All she could see was green, stretching as far as the eye could see. She looked at a few broken and damaged bamboo branches in the distance and guessed that was where the two of them had first fallen.
She looked at Han Jinqing again, then suddenly reached out a finger to check his breath. A faint breath brushed against her fingertip. She withdrew her hand, thought for a moment, and then forcefully dragged his body away from the stream. Unfortunately, her arms were weak and she was already panting after only a few steps.
A few thoughts flashed through her mind, and she gritted her teeth, half-dragging and half-pulling him to the base of a thick, green bamboo.
After rummaging around in her bosom for a while, she found a small, dark blue porcelain bottle in her inner pocket. It was the same bottle that Han Jinqing had given her back in the Prime Minister's residence. She never expected to use it now.
She took out a handkerchief, washed it in the stream, and gently wiped the wound on his arm, her gaze never leaving his face.
Although he was still unconscious, when she accidentally touched his wound, he frowned and let out a soft groan, which stirred her tense heartstrings.
She sprinkled the powder on his wound, causing his arm to tremble unconsciously. Her heart tightened, and she murmured, "It's alright, you'll be alright." It was unclear whether she was comforting Han Jinqing or herself.
She tore off a piece from the cuff of his undergarment and used it to bandage Han Jinqing's wound. She then wrung out his water-soaked sleeve before covering the wound with it.
When she tried to stand up, her calves went numb, and she staggered, almost falling.
Her arm was suddenly grabbed and lifted up, and Gu Qingyin regained her balance. She turned around, still shaken, and saw an old man with white hair and beard standing behind her.
She instantly saw a glimmer of hope and hurriedly pleaded with the old man, "Sir, is there any accommodation nearby? He is seriously injured and urgently needs medical treatment." As she spoke, she pointed to Han Jinqing.
The old man scrutinized them carefully, his eyes filled with wariness. "Did you fall down?" he asked, his voice rough and hoarse.
Gu Qingyin nodded and glanced at the old man. Although he was dressed in coarse linen clothes, he was tall and had a unique temperament, which made her wary.
"Come with me," the old man said, staring at Han Jinqing, who was leaning against a bamboo branch, for a while.
"Grandpa, could you do me a favor?" Gu Qingyin held Han Jinqing's shoulder and pleaded again. She knew very well that she couldn't take Han Jinqing away on her own.
The old man turned around and walked to their side. Gu Qingyin thought he was going to help Han Jinqing up, but to her surprise, he simply carried Han Jinqing on his back and got up to leave.
Gu Qingyin hurriedly followed, and the two walked for a long time before she finally saw a two-story bamboo house deep in the bamboo forest.
