A True Account: My Wedding Photo with My "Father"

A True Account: My Wedding Photo with My "Father"

After four years of perseverance, Shan finally woke up.

Shan opened her eyes wide and saw the man clearly. His eyes were sunken, his face haggard, his temples graying, and wrinkles etched between his brows. Looking at him, a feeling of warmth filled Shan's heart. "Dad..." Shan called softly. The man paused, then suddenly hugged Shan tightly, choking back tears, "You're finally awake! Do you know you've been in a coma for four years..." Tears fell on Shan's face.

Shan's body was still very weak, her beautiful face pale. She couldn't remember anything from before, but she learned her story from her father: she used to be a bank teller, with loving parents and a boyfriend who loved her dearly. A month before her wedding, a bank security guard, harboring malicious intentions, robbed the bank at gunpoint one noon while she and a colleague were on duty.
She and her colleague screamed for help, and each guard fired a shot. Her colleague died instantly, and Shan, shot in the abdomen, still fought with the guard, her head hitting the windowsill in the struggle. Shan's surgery lasted a full six hours. Despite their best efforts to save her life, she never woke up again due to the severe head injury. Shan's mother was deeply traumatized and was hit by a truck on her way home, passing away with endless worries and regrets.

For years, her father sought medical help everywhere, and Shan also came to hospitals in this city, but the conclusions were always the same: her chances of waking up were almost zero, and even if she did, her mental capacity would be like that of a young child. Her father didn't give up hope after this devastating outcome. He borrowed money everywhere, refusing to give up even the slightest hope.

To raise the expensive medical bills, he sold their house, but soon had very little left. To cure Shan as soon as possible and save money, he worked tirelessly at construction sites during the day and stayed at the hospital with Shan at night. When hungry, he would eat steamed buns with water; when tired, he would doze off by Shan's bedside. Long-term malnutrition and exhaustion weakened his body, but he was confident he would see Shan open her eyes again. >>>When love exists in a different form…

fate smiled upon Shan.

After a month of rehabilitation, Shan was discharged from the hospital, though her speech was still a little slurred. She had to stay in the city for regular checkups. Her father rented a room for her, taking care of her during the day and collecting bottles and jars at night to earn a meager income.

Shan's complexion gradually improved, and she learned to dress and cook for herself.

Her father bought her elementary school textbooks and taught her little by little. Slowly, Shan could read books and newspapers, and her pronunciation became clearer. During her checkup, the attending physician was amazed and, to ease their burden, promised to introduce Shan to a cleaning job at the hospital.

Fate finally smiled upon Shan.

Six months later, Shan had fully recovered and, through self-study, had learned a great deal. Now enrolled in night school, she wanted to find a better job to repay her father. She worked diligently at the hospital and also helped patients' families in her spare time. The patients and their families were very grateful to her. After learning of her ordeal, they praised her even more, marveling at how great her father was. Some elderly people even sighed with tears in their eyes: "What a good child! What a tragic life!" Shan always smiled and said, "Fate has been kind enough to me; at least I'm still alive."

Shan's gentle and kind nature attracted the attention of a young doctor named Fan. He was deeply moved by Shan's spirit and began to secretly care for her. Knowing that Shan was studying, he brought all his old study materials to the hospital for her and even tutored her. Through gradual contact, Shan also sensed Fan's many virtues: humor, kindness, and erudition. Their hearts slowly drew closer, and Shan felt that happiness was beginning to arrive. Another year passed. >>> Two abandonments led to our unwavering commitment.

The "father" tearfully agreed to his "daughter's" marriage proposal.

If it weren't for that day when Shan went out with Fan, she might have remained happy forever.

The day before Valentine's Day, Fan couldn't contain his excitement because he decided to propose to Shan the next day. During their lunch break, Fan and Shan were walking down the street when they passed a bank. Fan decided to buy Shan a wedding ring that day, and he quickly pulled her inside. The bank wasn't crowded. Shan hadn't been since her recovery; she remembered her father always taking her on a detour. The lobby was nearly empty, with only a few people handling their transactions. Shan looked around, and something deep in her memory was triggered. Her head throbbed, yet she couldn't stop thinking. She remembered the robbery, but then it vanished from her mind… Shan felt dizzy and collapsed to the ground.

When she opened her eyes, she found herself in the hospital, seeing Fan's anxious eyes. Fan took her hand: "I'm sorry, Shan, I shouldn't have taken you there. I'm so sorry…"

Shan led Fan home, and Fan felt a little uneasy. The father opened the door and immediately hugged Shan anxiously, saying, "Shanshan, where have you been? I was so worried! Are you alright? Is your headache back? Don't think about things you can't remember..." Only then did the father notice Fan, who was also very anxious beside Shan. Fan stepped forward and shook his hand, saying, "Uncle, hello, I'm Shan's colleague." The father didn't say anything, turned, and went inside. Fan pulled Shan along behind him.

In Shan's small room, Fan sincerely told her father that he hoped to be with Shan forever and that he would take care of them both from now on. The father waved his hand, and after a long pause, said, "Go back first. I'll think about it."

After seeing Fan out, Shan noticed tears in her father's eyes. He asked Shan softly, "Do you really like this boy? Is he reliable?" Shan looked at her toes and nodded. She heard her father sigh, "Alright, then you two should get married..." >>> My Ten-Year Crazy Love Story of Blood and Tears

A Wedding Photo with "Father"

Everything was going smoothly. Shan's face was always adorned with a happy smile. She and Fan were looking at houses, ordering furniture, and the wedding date was drawing near.

Shan discovered her father was missing the morning before the wedding. She initially thought he had gone to the construction site, so she waited for him to come home from work as usual, but he didn't return until very late. On her father's desk, Shan found a letter. She saw "To Shan Shan" written on the envelope. She frowned, hesitated for a moment, and then opened the letter.

Shan Shan:

I believe you must be very happy right now, because you can finally wear a wedding dress and live a happy life. Dad is sincerely happy for you. There was a time when I also had moments of happiness like yours, but unfortunately, they were so short-lived.

You must take good care of yourself from now on and not think about the past. As long as you are happy, that is my greatest joy in this life. I have already gone elsewhere. My presence by your side would only be a burden to you, and I don't want that. "Any man who is good, I believe he can bring you happiness. Don't look for me, I will bless you from afar.

Your loving father, Zhigang.

" Shan's hand tightened on the letter. Zhigang, Zhigang... she vaguely remembered, Zhigang was her boyfriend of several years. After regaining her memory, Shan returned to her hometown and found her home, a bank dormitory. Shan's parents died in a car accident when she was young, and she later worked hard to come here. Her employer, out of consideration for her, exceptionally allocated her an apartment. After the accident, the employer did not take back Shan's apartment; they all hoped Shan could wake up again. Returning here, she pushed open the door and saw her and Zhigang's wedding photo. In the photo, Zhigang was young and handsome, smiling at her.
