Yinxiang - Chapter 162 Letting Go is for the Sake of Fulfillment

"What is this?" Fei Yuan, who usually didn't come downstairs until noon, looked at the file bag with a puzzled expression and could only turn her gaze to the butler who had handed it to her.
"Miss, these are what the two masters asked me to give you." The butler finished speaking calmly as usual and went about his business.
Filled with confusion and a touch of curiosity, Fei Yuan looked at the file folder in her hand, but ultimately decided to go back to her room to look at it. Since the storm that day, she had been avoiding them and hadn't seen them for a week. She knew her attitude was tantamount to indirectly rejecting them, so their sudden handing her a file folder through the butler had piqued her curiosity.
Sitting in the chair in front of the French windows, she opened the file bag. Inside, besides a few documents, there was only a letter.
"A letter? People still write letters in this day and age?" This was a bit unbelievable to her. After all, people nowadays are used to using text messages directly, and very few people write letters, especially handwritten ones!
When Fei Yuan opened the package and saw that it was indeed handwritten, she felt a mix of surprise and amusement. Sure enough, she and those two men were from different eras.
As she read line by line, Fei Yuan's smile gradually faded, replaced by a complex mix of disappointment, relief, and surprise.
Yuan'er:
No matter what we say now, it won't change anything, right?
However, I still want to say that my feelings for you are real. Although I don't know when it started, I know you don't believe it and are unwilling to accept it.
Perhaps I shouldn't have forced you to stay by my side. Perhaps letting go is the best thing for you.
I'm leaving. Since you don't need me, I won't bother you anymore.
My dear, you are free.
Everything here belongs to you, including the house, the car, and everything I promised you before.
River
The signature, which only included the surname and not the given name, made it unclear whether it was written by Jiang Hongchuan, Jiang Haicheng, or both of them.
She slowly put down the letter in her hand and flipped through the thick stack of documents, only to find that they were all various transfer agreements. There were agreements for this villa, for cars, for bank safe deposit boxes. The property owners on them had all become her, and with these possessions, she had become the upper-class person she had once aspired to be.
But now that her dream has come true, it all feels like a dream.
She has never believed in love, not in the past, and still doesn't. She can't believe these two men truly love her, even with this letter and all this. Perhaps this is just a way for them to dump her. They wrote these words and gave her so much out of guilt.
But do they really need to go to all that trouble?
Suddenly, Fei Yuan, who had been sitting quietly, quickly gathered up the letters and documents and put them in a drawer. She turned around, grabbed her handbag which she had discarded in the corner, and rushed out of the room. Downstairs, she ran silently to the door. She ignored the housekeeper's puzzled calls, and no one tried to stop her from leaving.
She broke free from the luxurious cage that had imprisoned her for a month, and from the luxurious neighborhood that had confined her for several years. Standing on the street, she didn't know where to go or what to do.
The phone, which had just been turned on, was ringing with a barrage of text messages, all signed by the same person: Song Wen.
Finally, the music stopped, but she didn't have the courage to open the hundreds of unread text messages. In the end, she chose to dial that familiar yet unfamiliar number.
I hailed a taxi and told them the name of a coffee shop I hadn't mentioned in ages. I watched the scenery rush past the window in silence the whole way; it had only been a month since I'd left, yet everything felt so unfamiliar.
"Little cat, where have you been for the past month? Do you know how worried I was? Why did you suddenly say you were going on a trip? Do you know how hard Song Wen searched for you? By the way, did you tell Song Wen when you came back? What happened between you and him? Why did you just leave like that?" Pei Pei, who rushed over as soon as he received the call, immediately bombarded Fei Yuan with questions as soon as he saw her sitting by the window.
The quiet café was disturbed by Pei Pei's loud noise, which drew attention.
"Peipei, would you like to listen to me quietly?" Instead of scolding Peipei as usual, Fei Yuan stirred her coffee, her gaze drifting out the window to the bustling crowd. Even on a weekday, there were still so many people.
Pei Pei realized his impulsiveness and then apologized to the people who were staring at him. The café returned to silence, with only the hushed conversations and soft music remaining.
"Are you alright?" Pei Pei asked Fei Yuan with some concern as he sat down. Although he didn't know what had happened, Fei Yuan, who had suddenly called him out on a weekday, must have something on her mind.
"I've become a rich man. I own not only luxury homes and cars, but also tens of millions in savings and hundreds of millions worth of jewelry and financial products." He narrated calmly, as if he were talking about someone else's story.
Startled and speechless, Pei Pei could only gape, beginning to wonder if there was something wrong with her ears.
Pei Pei's appearance made Fei Yuan, who had turned around, smile, but she wasn't happy at all.
"I broke up with those two men, so this might be considered a breakup fee." Closing her eyes and relaxing her body against the soft single sofa, Fei Yuan began to calmly and slowly narrate, recounting how she had been imprisoned and deprived of her freedom for the past month, and how she had been sought after during that time.
The more Pei Pei listened, the more incredulous she became, until she lost the ability to speak. Only then did she realize that her long-time friend had truly changed. She could calmly recount how she had been raped, how she had come into contact with those two men, and even calmly describe the seemingly intense relationship between them.
"Then... then Song Wen... what are you going to do?" After a long, long time, until Fei Yuan had already picked up her coffee, Pei Pei finally spoke, having found his voice again.
