A Tragic Love Affair - Chapter Forty: Facing

I picked up my coat and was about to go out when my mother-in-law called out to me, "Hey, Xiaolin, wait a minute."
"Mom, you tell me."
"Drive slowly on the road, don't rush. This child is so disobedient, tell me how disobedient he is."
"Oh, Mom, it's okay. It's a long-awaited holiday, it's normal to have a blast, I know," I said with a smile.
As I spoke, I went downstairs, started the car, and found Tianque using the navigation.
As soon as I entered, I heard music coming from each of the private rooms. I frowned. I hadn't asked Tianming which room he was in. How was I supposed to find him?
"Hello, miss, how many are in your party?" the waiter called out to me.
"I'm here to find someone. Do you have any recent graduates here who are just visiting?" I asked.
"There are too many of these; almost all of them came today."
"Huh?" I looked at my phone in annoyance and had no choice but to call Tianming.
Unfortunately, no one answered. Perhaps the singing environment was too noisy, and he simply didn't hear it.
I became increasingly anxious, so I stomped my feet and went upstairs to look for it, making phone calls as I went.
As soon as I reached the second floor, I heard a commotion at the end of the corridor.
"Don't move! What the hell do you think you are!" A thug's voice came over. I frowned and waved for a waiter to come over.
"You guys go check it out, what's going on over there!"
Several waiters stepped forward and grabbed the thug's arms: "You can't fight here!"
"Who the hell are you! Let go of me! Don't you know this area is under my brother's control? What are you pretending to be, you lowly laborer?" With that, he shoved the waiter hard, and the waiter lost his balance and fell to the ground.
I couldn't stand it anymore, so I grabbed the waiter's arm and helped him up. "What are you doing? Why are you hitting him!"
"Mind your own business!" a thug threatened.
As I was speaking, I glanced out of the corner of my eye and saw the man surrounded by thugs. Wasn't that Tianming?!
"Tianming!" I shouted, "Tianming!? What are you doing here?"
Tianming peeked out, looked at me, and frowned as he asked, "Sister-in-law, you've arrived."
"Who are you people? Let go of my brother right now!" I rushed forward and shoved the thugs in front of me aside.
"Hey lady, mind your own business! This kid stole our boss's girl, it's our job to deal with him!" A blond man shoved me.
I didn't have time to argue with Tianming about what happened. I just glared at him, but seeing so many of them, I knew we'd be at a disadvantage if we confronted them head-on, so I just smiled and begged for forgiveness.
"Brother, my brother isn't that kind of person. You must have misunderstood. I'm taking him back." As I said this, I pulled Tianming up and prepared to leave, but several men blocked our way.
"Look at you, this lady, you're quite voluptuous, how can you be so unreasonable? Are you all brainless just because you have big breasts?" After saying that, the group burst into laughter.
I frowned. What kind of twisted logic is this? Have these people even gone to school? They're just showing off their intelligence here.
"Brother, what are you saying? How is it unreasonable for me to take my brother away?"
"Stop calling me 'Big Brother' like I'm some old man. I told you, this kid stole my brother's girl, and he has to give me an explanation today!"
"Impossible! My brother is a good student, he's never even had a girlfriend, how could he possibly steal someone else? You must have misunderstood." I nudged Tianming behind me: "Don't you think so, Tianming?"
Tianming, with a roguish air about him, seemed to completely disregard it: "It's me..."
"What did you say?!" I looked at him in surprise. "Tianming! What are you talking about?! What's going on?!"
"You messed up your act, didn't you? I'll admit you're a good kid for admitting it!" the blond-haired guy said with a grin.
I didn't have time to argue with Tianming. Seeing so many people being aggressive, all I wanted to do was get Tianming away as soon as possible.
"Brothers, um, I have an emergency at home today. I'll take Tianming back first, and we can talk another day, okay?" I chuckled and said, "Just do me a favor, alright?"
"Who do you think you are? Why should I give you face!" the man in front of him said with a sneer.
Tianming grabbed me from behind, pulling me protectively behind him, and said with a sneer, "Sister-in-law, what are you afraid of them for? A bunch of thugs!"
Why should I be afraid of them? There are so many of them, and there are only two of us. Why should I be afraid of them?
"A wise man doesn't fight a losing battle, let's get out of here!" I grabbed Tianming and tried to run, but several men blocked our way and sneered, "Trying to run? No way."
As he spoke, a fist came flying at me, but Tianming pulled me aside to dodge it.
"Hey! Don't fight! Don't fight!" Several waiters came up to stop them, "If you want to fight, go outside, don't do it in the store!"
Are they afraid we'll affect their business?
Another waiter called his boss over a walkie-talkie, speaking anxiously.
"Boss! There's a fight going on the second floor."
"Get everyone out! Security guards! Come in and get everyone out!"
They don't care if we live or die; they only care if the accident happened inside the store.
Before the thugs could make another move, a dozen or so men in uniforms rushed up and shoved us out.
As soon as I stepped out the door, I seized the opportunity, grabbed Tianming, and started running. The thugs behind us saw this and gave chase.
"Catch them! Hurry!"
"Don't run! Li Tianming, you brat! If you've got the guts, then don't run away!" Several people shouted as they chased after him.
Not run? Am I just going to wait for you to beat me up? Wouldn't that make me stupid? I thought to myself as I ran.
Even after I ran a little further away, they were still chasing me relentlessly. As I ran, I felt frustrated because my car was still parked downstairs at the karaoke bar. When was I supposed to go back and get it?
Getting rid of these thugs is the most important thing right now; I don't even want to think about anything else.
Soon, I ran out of energy and slowed down. After all, I hadn't exercised in a long time, and women's bodies are naturally slower than men's, not to mention the persistent people behind me.
"Stop chasing!" I shouted weakly.
"Sister-in-law, hang in there a little longer, let's hide in the alley ahead!" Tianming said.
I nodded vigorously, panting heavily as I continued running forward, when suddenly my foot seemed to trip over something.
I tilted my body and fell straight to the ground.
"Sister-in-law! Are you alright!" Tianming stopped, squatted down beside me, and helped me up. The man behind us had already caught up.
"Damn, you can run pretty fast!" the blond-haired guy said breathlessly. "Why did you stop running?!"
"I mean... is this really necessary?" I asked, breathless.
