An Unforgettable Experience (Part 1)

One evening over a year ago, I was having dinner at my boss's restaurant. We drank a lot that night, and as usual, my boss got extremely drunk, constantly complaining and cursing. Apparently, he had run many businesses and made some money, but later mismanagement and being cheated several times by friends eventually wiped out his savings and left him heavily in debt. He was also ostracized at work, so it's no wonder he was so upset.
Finally, he turned his anger on me, accusing me of not being on his side, and slammed his fist on the table. I could only manage a wry smile, unsure how to leave the restaurant
. Around 10 o'clock, my phone rang. I took it out and saw it was Xiao Yuan, whom I'd only recently met. We all called him Brother Yuan; I didn't know his real name, only that he ran a fertilizer business, a local agent for a large fertilizer group. He was a big spender, seemingly carefree. Despite his less-than-ideal appearance—a bit of a monkey—he was incredibly kind. After treating me to dinner, he'd either take me to a bathhouse or a teahouse to sing karaoke.
Sure enough, he asked me to go to the Meilin Teahouse. This was my perfect excuse. I quickly told my boss and slipped out of the restaurant.
Once outside, I saw it was drizzling, and there wasn't a single taxi in sight. What to do? I couldn't go back to the restaurant. I had no choice but to go to a shop next door and ask the owner to take me there on his motorcycle. The owner was very accommodating; he quickly explained things at the shop and then pulled out his motorcycle to take me
. After walking about halfway, the rain intensified, eventually becoming a downpour. Unable to ride the motorcycle, we had to take shelter by the roadside. In August, rain comes and goes quickly, stopping soon after, but we were soaked to the bone.
Finally, we arrived at the Meilin Teahouse. Brother Yuan was waiting for me downstairs. After exchanging a few words, I went to my private room. The person who brought me refused to come up with me and went home. Inside the private room, I saw several familiar faces: Brother Yuan's friend Xiao Ying, and several of Brother Yuan's former and current girlfriends .
I really don't understand why those women never fight.
Suddenly, I saw a girl in the corner of the private room. She looked to be about seventeen or eighteen years old, not very tall, with delicate features. She didn't say a word, seeming quite shy. I was soaked to the bone, my hair in clumps, and relying on my familiarity with the teahouse, I took off my shirt and hung it next to the air conditioner, sitting shirtless on the sofa.
A plump woman was singing; her voice was quite good, but her appearance was less than flattering—she was just too overweight. I glanced at her and then turned my gaze back to the shy girl. The plump girl continued singing one song after another.
Brother Yuan said, "Ah Jian, sing us a song!
" I understood that Brother Yuan was tired of the chubby girl's singing and wanted me to take the microphone, so I smiled and took it. Actually, no matter how well the chubby girl sang, no one wanted to listen to her anymore; it's because she's so fat. The people here aren't artists, they're people with money to hire prostitutes.
I sang three songs in a row. I'm not particularly good-looking, but I do have a bit of talent for singing, and I sang quite well, frequently earning applause from the audience. I glanced at the young girl and saw that she was also staring intently at me. A sweet feeling welled up inside me, and I sang even more energetically.
After finishing the three songs, I went straight to the young girl, took her hand, and said, "I have something to ask you, come with me." The young girl obediently followed me to the door of the private room and asked, "What is it?" Then she kissed me on the lips. Feeling sweet inside, I said, "Where are you from? What's your name?" The young girl said, "My name is Xiao Hong, I work at xxx restaurant.
" I was suddenly shocked. This innocent-looking girl was actually a hostess at the restaurant?!
