I. An Examination of the Earliest Human Sexual Intercourse Behavior
From ancient times, people have experimented with various sexual positions. Incidentally, this is also observed in the animal kingdom. According to archaeological data, the oldest written record of sexual positions is found in ancient Egyptian papyrus documents, dated to 1300 BC. Fragments of these documents are now kept in the National Library of Turin. Of
course, many experts and scholars acknowledge that sex books describing sexual positions may have appeared even earlier in China. Records
of Numerical Sexual Intercourse:
55: It is claimed that porn star John Doss could satisfy the sexual needs of 55 women in a single day.
620: In 1999, a woman named Houston, during a period of unrestrained sexual activity, slept with 620 men in 10 hours.
15 Hours: Dr. Vernon Coleman recorded the world's longest sexual intercourse—15 hours! This record was set by American movie star Mae Weiss and her boyfriend Ted.
* 7,000 people: According to historical records, the largest sexual orgies in human history occurred in Rome around 200 AD, when 7,000 people indulged in sexual pleasure.
* 37,000: In the Kingdom of Tonga in the 18th century, the king was the sole recipient of the virginity of every virgin. In 1777, the 80-year-old king averaged 8-10 virgins per day. It is estimated that this king had sexual relations with 37,000 virgins throughout his life.
* The oldest medical book
: In the earliest ancient Chinese medical book, the *Huangdi Neijing*, sexual knowledge is discussed through dialogues between the Yellow Emperor and three women: Su Nu, Xuan Nu, and others. The Yellow Emperor was the first emperor of China around 2600 BC, while Su Nu appears to be an ordinary housewife, and Xuan Nu seems to be an expert in teaching sexual knowledge. This book, written over 3,000 years ago, details how to kiss, how to stimulate erogenous zones, and how to choose the right time for intercourse. It promotes the idea that healthy sex can prolong life.
Meanwhile, in the 7th century, China had already developed the *Fangzhong Shu* (Art of the Bedchamber), a compilation of many documents that summarized over 30 sexual positions with illustrations. The *Qianjin Fang* (Prescriptions Worth a Thousand Pieces
of Gold) from the Tang Dynasty also contains rich and profound discussions on sex. Furthermore, Taoist health theories are still highly regarded by many sexologists worldwide. This demonstrates the profound and extensive nature of Chinese sexual culture. The most important sex book:
The Kama Sutra: In ancient India, the oldest and most valuable sex book is the *Kamasula* (Kama Sutra), written approximately 1500 years ago. This rich and comprehensive ancient sexual guide compiles literature on sexual issues from the preceding 3000 years. It is the first, and arguably the only, complete sex book in ancient India on human sexuality (including relationships between the sexes), featuring illustrations of sexual positions, making it a masterpiece of ancient sexology.
III. The Oldest Methods of Contraception
? Papyrus fragments discovered in Fayoum, Egypt in 1889 reveal that around 1850 BC, privileged Egyptian women of the Twelfth Dynasty employed some of the oldest methods of contraception. These included vaginal plugs made from crocodile excrement, vaginal soaking with honey and alkali (naturally occurring sodium carbonate), and inserting resinous substances into the vagina. Numerous written records indicate that these ancient methods were used for nearly 3000 years, although elephant dung was later found to replace crocodile excrement. These methods likely had some effect; honey and alkali could inhibit sperm motility, and crocodile excrement was alkaline, similar to porous sponges soaked in spermicides.
Furthermore, recipes for vaginal plugs for contraception were discovered on papyrus excavated at Ebers. These plugs were made from cotton fibers and soaked in fermented acacia bud juice, which essentially became lactic acid with contraceptive effects.
The Most Notable Condoms:
* 1597: According to historical records, in 1597, the Saxon man Pharrobi invented a condom made of linen. Pharrobi's invention ensures he is remembered as the first to create a condom.
* Ancient Roman Period: It is said that as early as the Roman era, people used different styles of sheaths on their penises. Legend has it that there were even female condoms made from the bladders of female goats.
* 1350-1200 AD: According to documents and speculation, during the reign of the 16th King of Egypt, approximately 1350-1200 BC, people used penile sheaths. At this time, these sheaths served both as contraception and as ornaments. Ancient Egyptian paintings show men wearing penile sheaths casually walking around the streets.
IV. The Earliest and Most Significant Sexual Art
: Among the historical artifacts discovered today, a considerable number of paintings and sculptures depicting human sexual intercourse appear in China from the Han Dynasty. During periods of greater sexual openness in Chinese history, numerous paintings and sculptures depicting male and female genitalia emerged, even artworks directly portraying sexual intercourse. For example, a mural discovered in Luoyang, Henan, depicts "a naked woman lying under a tree, her image both realistic and vivid." A bronze nude figurine unearthed in Lianshui, Jiangsu, shows a man embracing two women.
While images of sexual intercourse can be seen in some primitive rock paintings long before this, the "wild intercourse" depictions that appeared in the Han Dynasty were more numerous, refined, and realistic. For instance, a pictorial brick unearthed in Chengdu shows a woman hanging her clothes on a mulberry tree, leaving a basket aside, while a naked man and woman engage in intercourse under the tree, with several people nearby peeping. Another pictorial brick unearthed in Peng County depicts a man and woman engaging in intercourse in a "man-on-top" position, both naked, with their sexual characteristics clearly visible. This could be considered the earliest form of sexual art in China
